00:01So where are we headed, Chase?
00:03We are headed to meet the Skeens.
00:05Hey, come on in.
00:07Feeling spicy.
00:08There's a wire right here.
00:10That's kind of scary.
00:12Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
00:14Yeah!
00:16Heads up below.
00:18I am the conductor in charge today.
00:21Whoa, whoa.
00:22It's awesome.
00:24Hi.
00:25Hi, this looks awesome.
00:34Hello.
00:36These roads are muddy.
00:38So where are we headed, Chase?
00:40We are in South China, headed out to Three Mile Pond.
00:44Headed to meet the Skeens, Larissa and Michael and their two boys.
00:48They purchased a camp in October last year,
00:52and they're just looking to expand it,
00:54make a little bit more living space to fit the whole family.
00:58Good thing you borrowed this Jeep today.
01:00This road is bad.
01:02Yeah.
01:02Hopefully it will get better once it dries out.
01:04It's a long road in.
01:05It's definitely a seasonal road.
01:07They don't plow in the winter.
01:09Oh, we must be here.
01:11Oh, they're there.
01:11Oh, is that them?
01:13Hey, come on in.
01:14Come on in.
01:16My name is Larissa, and this is my husband, Michael.
01:19Nice drive down, huh?
01:20Yeah.
01:21I always really wanted to have a cabin on a lake.
01:24Nice to meet you guys.
01:26We made that happen.
01:26Tell us a little bit about the camp and what you're looking to have done.
01:30We were able to purchase this property because I recently lost my dad about a year ago.
01:35He left us the money to buy the place.
01:37He was the editor of Moda Railroader Magazine.
01:39He was huge in the Moda Railroad world.
01:42Do you know much about the history of the camp?
01:44So, all the camps around us were all owned by one family.
01:47They all started out as small shacks and were slowly expanded over time.
01:52We were lucky enough to get this one.
01:54Got a great lake view.
01:55Big yard.
01:56I grew up in Wisconsin.
01:57So, I spent my whole childhood going to the lake and floating around in the water.
02:01It's like I always just kind of associated quality family time with being in the outdoors.
02:05We'd like to fix it up so that someday we can hand it over to our kids and they can
02:09continue enjoying it.
02:10Right up front, there's a few issues going on, some door to nowhere.
02:15What are you looking to have done?
02:16Obviously, we need some kind of deck or some way to get into this door.
02:19Get some stairs up there, maybe a deck that goes around the front.
02:22All right, all right, all right.
02:23So we can take in the view.
02:24One thing we'd really like is to make it more campy, less house.
02:28It does look like a house.
02:29We want to make it more rustic.
02:31Ideally, I think we really just want to lose the siding and do something a little more wood.
02:35There's nothing in the world that says, like, relaxing when you go into National Park and you see those brown
02:39buildings.
02:40You're like, oh, I'm here.
02:41Exactly.
02:42So we would love the green metal roof.
02:43Yes.
02:45It feels really remote.
02:46When you get in here, you feel like you're in suburbia.
02:47It's kind of weird.
02:48All the concrete and the siding.
02:50It felt like we were pulling up to a house.
02:51Let's go meet the kids.
02:53All right.
02:53Okay.
02:55Well, thank you.
02:57It is a home.
02:59Okay.
03:00How's it going, guys?
03:01Hi.
03:02So this is Waylon and this is Wyatt.
03:04Hi, Waylon.
03:04Hi, Wyatt.
03:05How are you guys?
03:06So is this right here the original cabin?
03:09Do you know?
03:10We think the original cabin is like this area right here.
03:13Okay.
03:13The hallway.
03:14The rest was kind of expanded around it.
03:16They said this area, this hallway was the living room.
03:19Now, is that the only living room space you have?
03:22We're currently using one of the bedrooms as our seating area, which obviously doesn't work for four people.
03:28Yeah.
03:28So we really want to just blow this out and make this a whole, like, open concept living room on
03:33the front, kitchen and back.
03:34Living room seating area.
03:36So there's two bedrooms and a loft now?
03:38Two bedrooms and a loft.
03:39The loft was pretty bare bones.
03:40So I've been putting some wall boards in there.
03:42About 40% done.
03:44Don't laugh at my handiwork.
03:46Ah.
03:46The banister, for lack of a better term, has poles that support it, that go up.
03:52I don't know if those are structural enough, but we want to get rid of those.
03:54And there's no flooring up there.
03:56It's not conducive for comfortable living for children.
03:59What are you looking to have done in the rest of the interior?
04:02So most of the rest of the house is pretty basic.
04:04Ideally, we'd like to have the sink, like, in the middle over here and a new window on that side
04:09so that we get light from that side.
04:12Sure.
04:12We want tongue and groove pine wall boards throughout.
04:14Yeah.
04:15Yeah, what do you guys think?
04:16What would you guys like to see?
04:17Probably a new dock so he can get off the water easier.
04:23Yeah, I think that gives us a really good idea of what you're looking for.
04:25We'll meet you on the outside if you guys want to take a look around while we're going out.
04:28Sure.
04:29Okay.
04:29Feel free.
04:29Perfect.
04:29We'll see you out there.
04:30Thanks.
04:30If there was ever a structure that needed to be cabinified, it is this.
04:35Living room.
04:36This is a funny living room.
04:38Their living room was a glorified hallway.
04:40Yeah.
04:41That's weird.
04:41I've seen hallways way bigger than their living room.
04:43Couldn't fit a couch in it.
04:45Not much living there.
04:47We're expanding the living room.
04:49So once we give them a bigger living area...
04:52This is one bedroom that they turned into a...
04:55Oh, yeah.
04:56Sitting room.
04:56Yeah.
04:57Oh, yeah.
04:58They do have some nice wooden furniture though.
05:00Campy.
05:00They will turn the other bedroom back into a bedroom.
05:03Bathroom's right there.
05:05It's not bad.
05:06It's small.
05:07They're content with it.
05:08They didn't really need anything done in here, right?
05:10Yep.
05:11Cool.
05:12And then this is the main bedroom.
05:14Yeah.
05:15It's just going to stay as it is, just the different floors?
05:17Yeah.
05:18Just put down some pine floors.
05:22Oh.
05:22It's nice up here.
05:23Oh, this is the loft?
05:25Yeah.
05:25Subfloor.
05:26There's some pine in here.
05:27Oh, he got his wallboard pond.
05:28Okay.
05:29His work was fine.
05:30We'd hire him.
05:31Is this the wall he wants down?
05:32I don't understand what he wanted down.
05:34These.
05:35Oh.
05:35Oh, yeah.
05:36These aren't structural at all.
05:37Yeah, so we're going to keep going with what he was doing.
05:39Put down some pine floors and closing that lower part of the railing.
05:43This isn't bad.
05:44This place looks way bigger from the outside.
05:46Yeah.
05:47It definitely is misleading.
05:48I think maybe just because it's chopped up.
05:50Explain what you guys mean by chopped up.
05:52It's not one big open room.
05:53It's a bunch of little small ones.
05:55Chopped up.
05:56See, these are choppy.
05:57They're not like really, you know, no feng shui.
06:00How's the choppy?
06:01No feng shui.
06:01I don't know if that bad analogy plays.
06:04It doesn't.
06:05What's the time frame for completion?
06:07Well, ideally we like to have a party with our family every 4th of July.
06:12That would be awesome if we could have it by the 4th of July.
06:14Yeah, so that puts us at about eight weeks.
06:16And then what do you have to put into the project?
06:20We have $100,000.
06:22Eight week time frame and $100,000.
06:25We just need a set of keys and we're ready to go.
06:28Here you go.
06:29All right.
06:30All right.
06:30Nice to meet you guys.
06:31Have a good day.
06:32Midsummer.
06:33Let's go.
06:33The Skeens really want to campify their house and build up more space for the family.
06:38So on the exterior, we'll tear down the tiny kitchen and build a new addition with a wraparound deck and
06:43a screen and a porch.
06:44In the interest of time, we'll put up dark brown log siding, but only on the two sides of the
06:49house we're working on.
06:50The rest of the house will keep the original siding.
06:52We'll give it a green metal roof and bring in a new dock system.
06:56On the interior, we'll build out an open concept kitchen living space and pine all the walls with new floors
07:01to row, both downstairs and upstairs.
07:04Ashley, what are you going to do?
07:05I'm going to call the guys.
07:07All right.
07:07All right.
07:07Let's go to the guy phone.
07:08Excuse me, guys.
07:10We're going to need you.
07:11Thanks.
07:21Where are we at today, Chase?
07:23We are on Three Mile Pond.
07:26Three Mile Pond.
07:28Demo day at the Skeen Camp.
07:30Watch out for the ankle breakers.
07:31There are holes everywhere.
07:33The goal today is to get the kitchen ripped apart and see what's going on.
07:39All right.
07:39Let's start ripping and tearing and give this place a camp feel.
07:43So electric is on.
07:45Be cautious.
07:53Hello?
07:55Will you unlock this door?
07:58Just trying to frame it up right, you know?
08:11We're probably not going to reuse this window here, but we're going to save it.
08:14We're going to use it down the road.
08:16Right there.
08:18We want to get this blown out so we can just start throwing stuff and debris right to the trailer.
08:23Is he a free Jedi, you think?
08:25He should be.
08:29Rock and roll, baby!
08:35There's a wire right here.
08:37That's kind of scary.
08:38I looked down and I saw some wires now.
08:40It was very alarming because they were afraid.
08:42Hey, Arthur, do you have that tester?
08:44And they were coming out of the wet ground.
08:47That's scary.
08:58Oh, wait.
09:03Okay.
09:04That was scary for me.
09:06It was very alarming on a Monday morning to see wires come on the ground.
09:09We're okay.
09:11After a couple of tugs, I got them to go and I tested them.
09:14There's wire everywhere.
09:15Look at that.
09:15I should check that one, too.
09:18That one's dead.
09:19I don't know where it goes.
09:21Well, you know, we do know that these, all the cabins in this area are one family.
09:25So, you know, it could have been from decades ago.
09:29Lo and behold, it wasn't that big of a deal.
09:31Regardless, we don't want it just sitting out here coming in our job site.
09:34I tried to make light out of the situation.
09:37Now it's art.
09:38I can make it into a person.
09:41He says he's not artsy, but look at him.
09:43Yellow.
09:45Good morning.
09:46So, it's demo day today.
09:47You're tearing this up, eh?
09:49My job is to help out wherever needed.
09:52Oh, there we go. It's a bird.
09:53What are you doing?
09:54Making art out of this thing now for some reason.
09:56Oh, boy.
09:57There's a lot of people here today, so I'm not really that needed.
10:00Kind of hanging out with the dogs.
10:03Everything with the kitchen sink.
10:06Where's the trash pile?
10:07Getting and putting stuff on the wood pile.
10:10I got trash bags if you need them.
10:11I'm just kind of staying out of the way, but trying to be helpful wherever I can.
10:18Feeling spicy?
10:19You like the spice rack?
10:21Looks like they could use a new one.
10:23Thanks for this spice rack.
10:26It's looking like we're going to have to take off all three walls in the kitchen.
10:31Roof has to come off.
10:33Doesn't stand a chance, guys.
10:35Just got to get a new addition platform built.
10:38So we'll run 2x12s out this way, and it's going to stop pretty much right there in line with that
10:45retaining wall.
10:46And then we'll just have to tie, you know, anchor into the concrete.
10:51And then we'll open up from there.
10:53I think probably right to here.
10:55We'll probably have to have one post, and then we'll do like a 6x10 beam to support all that.
11:01Oh, yeah.
11:02Oh, yeah.
11:03The whole thing's coming down, guys.
11:04We're not waiting until tomorrow.
11:07Just stripped this roof.
11:08Went really well.
11:09We're going to keep cranking.
11:10It's not even lunchtime yet.
11:14Yeah.
11:14The way they built us, we're going to try to ply it up by sheets to ply it at a
11:17time.
11:17So Isaac and I will pry.
11:19They'll be on the inside.
11:20We'll dismantle it just like it was built.
11:22Oh, yeah, baby.
11:23Nice toss.
11:29Who's tougher than us?
11:30Nobody.
11:32Whoo!
11:33All right.
11:34So we're at that point.
11:35We're going to use that main ingenuity.
11:37We got the roof system off.
11:39Ashley's going to get the big truck ready.
11:41We're going to put some straps around it, and we're going to take the addition off.
11:44How come it's always Ashley that drives the truck?
11:45Because you're the best.
11:47So you can blame it on me when things go awry?
11:49Of course, any time a building needs to come down, I'm the person to do it.
11:53Trigger, get in the truck.
11:54Come on.
11:55You're going to stay in the truck with me.
11:56I should have signed in my car.
11:57Ashley's Building Removal Services.
11:59The whole thing's just going to slide off and just boom.
12:01That'd be nice.
12:04All right.
12:06Ashley, cut your wheels uphill and go forward a little bit.
12:10Yup.
12:10Hold up.
12:11Hold up.
12:12Tell me when you're ready.
12:13You know, I'm really focused, paying attention to what's going on behind me.
12:16What?
12:17Ashley.
12:18Paying attention to all the instructions.
12:20Ashley.
12:23Ashley.
12:23Okay.
12:24Hold on.
12:24Yeah, yeah.
12:25They can really trust me.
12:26Everyone clear?
12:28Punch it, Chewie.
12:29Here we go.
12:34Uh-oh.
12:35That wasn't a fail.
12:36That wasn't a fail.
12:37Reset.
12:37That's a lot of main ingenuity.
12:39Touch it!
12:41All right.
12:42We got a wall down.
12:44But part of main ingenuity is, you know, a lot of times they'll come down three poles.
12:47Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
12:49Yeah!
12:51You never know.
12:56Yup.
12:57Yup.
12:58Perfect.
12:58That's what we were looking for.
13:00Yay, we did it.
13:02Ashley's building removal services.
13:04I'm glad I could be there.
13:05Great day.
13:06That's awesome.
13:07I didn't expect to get that far.
13:09I did not, either.
13:10What's the next step after that?
13:11So we've got a little bit more cleanup to do.
13:14We've got to strip back a little bit more on the side.
13:16And then we've just got to get a new platform built at the same height as the rest of the
13:20house.
13:21And then we can kind of mock up the roof pitches.
13:24And then get walls and everything framed up.
13:27All right.
13:27Good day, guys.
13:28Nice work.
13:29Let's get out of here.
13:30Let's go!
13:31Let's go!
13:37I'll let you do your extra.
13:39Okay.
13:39Perfect.
13:42At the Skeen's camp today and things are cranking.
13:45We've already got the floor system for the new kitchen addition framed up.
13:51Next we're going to sheath that over.
13:53Then we'll build our walls.
13:56And then we'll get the roof system going on top of that.
14:02We're doing a salt box style roof because the screened in porch on the other side.
14:07It's going to need its own roof system.
14:12So we're starting to frame that out.
14:14You guys looking professional.
14:17Yeah, baby!
14:18This is a very complicated deck because it's actually going to come back around to the entrance on the new
14:22kitchen.
14:23All right there.
14:25Nice.
14:28So by getting this square done and perfect, we'll get the two decks framed up.
14:35We're going to work our way back around with the walkway.
14:42And on the inside, the homeowners really want to give it that cabin feel.
14:48So we've got the guys in there going over the sheetrock with pine.
14:52Not bad.
15:00Oh boy, you brought us some presents, didn't you?
15:02Some heavy presents.
15:03Yeah.
15:05Great.
15:06Need a good workout.
15:07Yeah, I figured I'd just get them out here while there's so many of us.
15:09Yeah, for sure.
15:10Got trim, doors, roofing.
15:13Oh, here comes the siding too.
15:15Perfect.
15:16So we're at the Skeen's Camp on Three Mile Pond in South China.
15:21My backing up skills are getting better.
15:22Did you back the whole way down?
15:23Yeah, I did.
15:25We had the screened in porch, doors ready.
15:28We had the log siding ready.
15:30Jay said there was going to be a forklift on that trailer.
15:33Right, that's next.
15:35So we figured if we're coming out this way, we might as well get it out here.
15:38Is that two separate doors?
15:39Yes, yes.
15:41Okay, that makes sense now.
15:43I think what is going on there.
15:44There's three doors there.
15:48Yeah, exactly.
15:49We don't have to get them in today, but they're here.
15:52They made it in one piece, it looks like.
15:54Let's get that while we're fresh.
15:56Oh, really?
15:56It's going to get hot today.
15:58It's going to be a two t-shirt day.
15:59Then pull ahead.
16:00All right, perfect.
16:02Yeah, so the big goal today is to get the new screened in porch roof done.
16:08It's good.
16:09And get this place roofed as quickly as possible to get it weather tight
16:13so that we can start finishing off the interior.
16:15These ones aren't terrible.
16:17Yeah, we've got a couple big doors here on the trailer Chase brought in this morning.
16:21Let's go in the side door.
16:23So, we've got enough guys here.
16:25We're going to get these off.
16:26Dougie got roped into that one.
16:28He's just standing in the wrong corner.
16:30All right, then can we tip it this way?
16:34Yep, perfect.
16:35We're not necessarily going to get the doors in today.
16:38Watch your step.
16:40What, we're going to get them up on the deck?
16:41Oh, jeez, they're going for it right now.
16:43Oh, yeah.
16:43Just get it up there and balance it.
16:46So are you, boss.
16:47I'm not quite there.
16:48Ready? What?
16:49No, no.
16:50Ready?
16:53Get them out of the way.
16:54What's going to work?
16:58Teamwork.
16:58So we can work on that roof.
17:00One cam's trash is Chase's treasure.
17:03Love us.
17:07Yee-haw.
17:09Yes, we can get those three cut at seven feet.
17:11We can get those posted where we want them,
17:13braced off for the screened-in porch.
17:16We'll get those cut, and then we can start working on our rafters.
17:21All right.
17:22I'm always going to build staging if I can rather than work off a ladder.
17:27And my wife will think I'm safe when she gets here. She won't yell at me.
17:30Evan.
17:31That pine board right on the ground.
17:34Can you pass that up?
17:36Yeah, this has been a great job.
17:37All right. We need to go that way with it.
17:39We've got Evan. He's from the local technical school.
17:41This guy in.
17:42He comes in three or four days a week for a couple hour period in between a couple classes.
17:47My background was in education, so I've really enjoyed teaching some important lessons.
17:50Don't rush. Don't rush. Don't rush. Don't rush. Don't rush.
17:53Yeah, so the guy's got the carrion beam all ready to rock and roll.
17:57Hold it right there for a second.
17:58I would say the crown goes this way.
18:01I got to cut out these rafter tails right here.
18:04Because this first raft is going to come down and sit on that.
18:07So this has to be gone. So everything's flush to this wall.
18:12Interesting. Is this safe? Kind of.
18:19What's happening here with this door? What is going on here?
18:22Work.
18:22Is it safe here?
18:24Yeah. Is it safe?
18:26Yeah.
18:27All right. Pass that end right up to me.
18:28Sarah will go up that ladder.
18:30I'm going to let you take a little more.
18:33So today, it's a big construction day. There's a lot going on.
18:36Yep. Tell me where. How far?
18:39That's fine.
18:40The guys are putting the roof on and putting up the rafters.
18:45Ryan, are you safe up there?
18:47Look how safe I am today. I built this so you'd be impressed.
18:51This is what you guys have for scaffolding these days.
18:53Safety's my middle name today.
18:54I was being safer and more efficient and I thought Ashley would notice.
19:00Am I safe is a question.
19:01She just asked, what are you doing?
19:04Why do I always come on rafter day?
19:06Rafter day is the most boring day.
19:08Rafter day and roofing day.
19:11Yeah, you know, the construction days, honestly, are roofing or the rafters.
19:16And all of those involve heights or heavy lifting.
19:20All the things I don't do.
19:21All right, all right, all right.
19:23Don't touch it.
19:24Can you list your favorite days that come to the job site?
19:28I mean, my favorite days are usually the arrivals.
19:31I love going on field trips.
19:34I took a shower this morning, sir.
19:36And I like the reveals.
19:39See, not safe. I'm out of here.
19:41Call that a yahtzee.
19:42Trigger, let's go.
19:42This is not safe up here with your dad.
19:45We are not rafting type of people.
19:47Whoa!
19:52Whoa!
19:54Don't be scratching up the new trailer job.
19:58Whoo!
19:58Yeah, big day here at the Skeen's camp.
20:02There's definitely more work on the front side of the house.
20:04Thank you, thank you, thank you.
20:07With the posts, the beams, the headers, the rafters.
20:12I jumped out back with the frappiers on the back side of the roof.
20:16I mean, if you're not cutting metal with one of those, what are you doing?
20:19Pretty much everything was prepped and ready to go over there.
20:22Yeah, watch yourself.
20:24Yeah, he's got it.
20:25So we just laid metal panels.
20:28So Evan's been with us now for what?
20:30Three or four weeks?
20:31Yeah.
20:32You know, job for me and graduates.
20:34You come in between classes to work with us.
20:35We'll teach you some fun stuff, right?
20:37Yeah.
20:37What's the number one rule we taught you?
20:39Only as good as your ground guy.
20:40All right, go up there and tell Chase the most important thing that we taught you.
20:42All right.
20:43You know, Evan's new.
20:44We want to have fun with him.
20:46We want the whole beam to be out towards the rafter.
20:49So you may have to use the house as leverage, too.
20:51Help him push.
20:52I'll tell you when.
20:54A little bit more.
20:55Oh, you're gonna do so good.
20:58And we want to teach him some important lessons.
20:59This is right there.
21:01All right, Evan.
21:02Tell the big boss the most important thing you've learned so far.
21:05I told him.
21:05What was that?
21:06Only as good as your ground guy.
21:10He's the ground guy.
21:12He's the ground guy.
21:13He's the ground guy.
21:13He's the ground guy.
21:13He's the ground guy.
21:14He's kicking butt.
21:15What are the one-liners we taught you already?
21:16Nothing new after two.
21:17Don't let Monday ruin your Sunday.
21:20Ashley's always right.
21:21Yeah.
21:22I taught him that first day, honey.
21:24Yeah, right.
21:27All right.
21:28What are you doing?
21:29You be careful.
21:31This is hot.
21:32First, what's the hottest?
21:33Right.
21:34Why don't you always tell me three points of contact?
21:36You have one point of contact.
21:38I got five.
21:39Yeah, now that the rafters are in, it's time to sheath the roof.
21:41Looks good.
21:42Looks good for my house.
21:44Looks good for my house.
21:45That's one you'll learn.
21:47I just know if Chase and I get up there, it'll go quick.
21:49We'll go back and check our nails later.
21:55Heads up below.
21:57Does it say heads up before you make the cut?
22:00That is a good point, Evan.
22:03Heads up.
22:04Great lesson for Evan.
22:0512 footer after this next one.
22:07You're never going to see it.
22:08Just crank it out and cut it later.
22:15Yahtzee.
22:16I need about a month of roofing to lose the winter weight.
22:19Yeah.
22:19Chase and I are up on that roof.
22:21Oh, baby.
22:23Just to get it done as quick as possible.
22:26She's sheath, guys.
22:27Nice job, Evan.
22:28Nice job today, everybody.
22:29It actually looks like it fits.
22:31We got a lot done.
22:34Yeah.
22:35Evan, what do you think?
22:36Great.
22:36Your first day.
22:38No, it's not.
22:39He's been here for a month already, Ashley.
22:41Hey, you tell her it's her first day.
22:44All right, guys.
22:45All right.
22:46Nice work today.
22:47Yeah.
22:48Yay.
22:49Good to see you, Trigger.
22:50I miss you.
22:51Come on, Sarah.
22:58All right.
22:59It's gonna be a warm one today.
23:03Back at the schemes camp.
23:05It's week six.
23:06In the last week, the crew's gotten the railings on.
23:09All right.
23:10You can come my way.
23:10We got some of the doors in.
23:14Roofing away.
23:16It's all you.
23:21Trimming away.
23:23Throwing the pine at it.
23:30You should do all the floors.
23:34And then get the kitchen in here.
23:36Right there.
23:42You know, the new vertical log siding in that green.
23:47That's what the old state of Maine cabins and campgrounds
23:50are color scheme.
23:51It looks awesome.
23:54Still gotta get that big door, and that's gonna go last.
23:56We don't damage it.
23:57That looks good.
24:01It's fabulous.
24:02Makes this property a whole new place.
24:05Can't wait to see the look on their face when we pull in.
24:12Oh, you're here.
24:19Oh.
24:20All right, let go, let go, let go.
24:23Looks like you're working hard here.
24:25He is.
24:26You have something for them to do?
24:27I do.
24:28Great.
24:28Yeah, Fletcher and his friend Sam were working with me today
24:31around the wood shop.
24:34And Ashley stopped by.
24:36We are doing a camp, and her dad was huge into model trains.
24:42Why you got spices?
24:43Because the earliest spices were carried across the country by train.
24:48What?
24:49But during demo, we ripped a spice rack out.
24:51Feeling spicy.
24:52From the skiing camp.
24:54I knew that they needed to have a new spice rack.
24:57So what I thought would be a good idea is to make a spice rack out of an old train
25:03set.
25:04Why don't you start and see if you can get this one running.
25:08Okay.
25:09I don't even know what we have for parts in here.
25:11First thing we did was make sure the train was working.
25:13There you go, there you go.
25:14There's this thing.
25:15I don't know what this thing is.
25:17Controller.
25:17So Fletcher and Sam connected the loop.
25:20What do you need?
25:21How many straight ones?
25:21Straight ones?
25:22Here.
25:22One.
25:23Two.
25:23That's all we have.
25:24No, you missed in one.
25:25Sam, put this one over there.
25:27Wait.
25:27No.
25:28Why is this one weird?
25:29Have you guys played with trains before?
25:30Nope.
25:31No.
25:31You haven't?
25:32No one plays with trains anymore, right?
25:34No.
25:34Well, what do you do?
25:35Play with trains on your video?
25:36On your phone?
25:37No.
25:39Got the train fully functional.
25:41Would you look at that?
25:43This was the height of entertainment 30 years ago.
25:4660.
25:4760?
25:48What?
25:48I'm not 60.
25:49Did you ever change that?
25:50No.
25:51And then I brought over the board that was going to be the shelf,
25:53so they kind of knew what size to fit it on.
25:56I'll work on figuring out how to put spices on this.
25:59This is amazing.
26:01That's all we are going to have to do.
26:02What if we built a train house where it was hidden?
26:05Oh my goodness, he's a genius.
26:07And then it came out and you turn it and the spices come out
26:10where it goes into the tunnel.
26:12Yeah, so originally we decided just to kind of make a shelf,
26:15with some tracks on it and the train.
26:17We'll build a train tunnel!
26:19No way.
26:21Then we realized all trains go through tunnels.
26:23We need the trolley music.
26:25Cue trolley music.
26:26And then the train can only hold a certain amount of spices,
26:29but then we can have some other spices up here as the decorations.
26:33Well, if you're making a mountain, you can put the spices on the mountain.
26:35Okay, we're going to build 36-inch.
26:37Spice Mountain?
26:38Yeah.
26:38Spice Mountain.
26:39A mountain in the background that would hold spices.
26:43I'm going to go get a drill and little pin nails.
26:45We have to attach these so they don't move.
26:48Yeah.
26:48First thing we did was get the train nailed on, secured onto the shelf.
26:54Okay, you got it.
26:55Okay.
26:59Hold this for me, please.
27:00Yeah, then I had a roof.
27:03Okay, hold that right there.
27:04And that guy goes right there.
27:06And then it was a matter of attaching that.
27:12And I'll set that roof on.
27:15I mean, this project was meant to be.
27:19Yeah, and then Chase cut out the tunnel entrance.
27:21She's a beaut.
27:24And I helped Sam cut out our Spice Mountain.
27:27Perfect.
27:28Yeah.
27:32Then we made another shelf for our extra spices.
27:40Attached it all together.
27:43Okay.
27:47Okay.
27:49And voila, we got our spice chain on Spice Mountain.
27:57Hey, Fletcher.
27:59Yeah?
28:00I need some pepper.
28:01Really?
28:02Yeah.
28:03Thanks, Fletcher.
28:05Of course.
28:06All right.
28:07I'm done with the pepper, Fletcher.
28:11Guys, this is awesome.
28:13We'll paint it up.
28:14Get some mountain scenes going on.
28:16This is awesome.
28:17Yeah, you know, I kind of just grab my projects and show up.
28:21Can't wait to install this.
28:22They're going to love it.
28:23Hoping that someone's going to be there to help me.
28:25And today was a complete success.
28:27Cool, guys.
28:28Nice work.
28:29Let's chugga-chugga-chugga out of here.
28:32Choo-choo!
28:38Jedi!
28:39Yeah?
28:40I choo-choo-choos you today.
28:42Choo-choosin' me.
28:44What do you mean, choosin' me?
28:45I am the conductor.
28:47Do you not see my hat?
28:48I do see the hat.
28:49It's the last week on the job.
28:54This reveal is in four days.
28:57You like that?
28:58Beautiful.
28:59So there's a lot of moving parts.
29:00You know what I say.
29:02It's better to be lucky.
29:04That's fine.
29:06I brought the custom spice rack that Fletcher and Sam and Chase and I made the other day.
29:13Are these people fans of trains?
29:15Her father was a big model train enthusiast.
29:18Nice.
29:18So I have a few more things I need to do to it.
29:20But I was wondering if you could just help me carry it in.
29:22It's pretty big and heavy.
29:23Absolutely.
29:23It had one coat of paint on it.
29:26Choo-choo-choo-choo-choo-choo.
29:28What's up Fletch?
29:30But I want to do some detail work today.
29:32So today I need to put the railroad name and then I got some other paints and we could
29:37put a little shrubbery on this mountain.
29:40Luckily Fletcher's here.
29:41Let's go work by the water on him.
29:42Perfect person to pull in and help me.
29:45All right.
29:47Sit her down.
29:48Okie dokie.
29:49You're in charge of beautifying the mountains.
29:52I'm going to write JH Railways.
29:54What does JH Railroad mean?
29:55JH is her father's initials.
29:58So pretty much the only thing left to do on that was to write out the JH Railway.
30:03J, I'm going to have a little nub-nub here.
30:06What color do you want the mountains?
30:07Find some nice green in there, spice it up a bit, would you?
30:10And then I wanted Fletcher to just come in and add a little bit of color.
30:13First coats were like a little dull.
30:15I like that.
30:16She likes that, guys.
30:17So I wanted to just brighten it up.
30:19It's pretty easy.
30:21And they're going to love it.
30:26So a lot to do here to finish up at the Skeedon's camp.
30:30Kitchen cabinets are installed.
30:31We just need to get the sink in, appliances in.
30:33Door hardware needs to go in.
30:36Screening porch is looking good.
30:37A couple panels left.
30:41A little bit of roof, a little bit of siding.
30:46We've also got Kevin here to install the Skeedon's new dock.
30:54Two sections, 10 feet long.
30:56So now they have a 20 foot long dock.
31:00Bradley!
31:02Brad!
31:03I heard you need a pencil.
31:04Yeah, I love one.
31:06Guess what I brought?
31:06My Get Stuff Done pencil.
31:09Perfect.
31:10Let's do it.
31:10Yeah, you know what?
31:11It's Final Touches Day at Skeedon's, and we have a lot to do.
31:16And I just had this pencil for a day.
31:17We really, really need to get a lot done.
31:19You know, it's the Get It Done pencil.
31:22Heard you need a pencil.
31:24And of course, it just came into play naturally, just like that.
31:28First time like a champ.
31:30Oh, yes!
31:32First try, got it to Brad.
31:34You have the power now, Brad.
31:36And it was game on.
31:37I am the conductor in charge today.
31:40It's like a baton.
31:41You know, today's a race.
31:42Today was a marathon.
31:48What do you need to get done today?
31:50We're now doing clean up.
31:52Clean up?
31:52I like that.
31:53It just inspired everybody.
31:58What's the deal with the train track?
32:00It's ready.
32:00All right.
32:01Pass it over.
32:01We'll lock it up right up there.
32:03I'm going to get a seat.
32:05The spice track, it was pretty much an easy install.
32:08They just kind of put a board on the end to make sure it wouldn't pull and fall down.
32:14And then a board under the end to level it up.
32:18Plug it in.
32:20All right.
32:20Put the train on.
32:22Add the spices.
32:23We're headed to the Mason-Dixie line.
32:25Worked like a charm.
32:27Oh, you need some sesame seeds?
32:29Here you go.
32:31Doo-doo.
32:32Garlic salt.
32:32You need some garlic salt right here.
32:34Some salt for you.
32:35Perfect.
32:36You need some of this chili powder, some turmeric.
32:38There you go.
32:39This might be the coolest spice rack in all of the world.
32:56It's the final week at the Skeens camp, and we are getting things all wrapped up.
33:01You know, they really wanted us to take the place and make it feel like a camp, and that's
33:04exactly what we did.
33:06The first thing that you see when you walk in that door is pine, and that is what makes
33:10it feel like a camp.
33:12And they had all the furniture too, which was really nice campy furniture.
33:16So being able to use that and add that back in really helped my team.
33:20And then just added our own little touches to really camp it up.
33:24And they're going to be thrilled.
33:26Chase.
33:27What?
33:28You know why the elephant refused to ride the train?
33:30There was no room for us drunk.
33:32Ta-da-da-da-da.
33:37All right.
33:38Just keep her in there until they come, and then at the end we'll...
33:42Ta-da!
33:43Yeah.
33:44Awesome.
33:44Let's go meet them.
33:45I'm ready.
33:48I'm pretty excited.
33:49Yeah?
33:50Ridiculously excited.
33:51What are you hoping they did everything?
33:52I hope they did everything.
33:53Yeah.
33:53Well, I see a green roof.
33:54I see a green roof too.
33:57Look at the deck.
33:58Whoa.
33:59Whoa.
33:59It's awesome.
34:01Hi.
34:02Hi.
34:02Hi.
34:03This looks awesome.
34:04Oh, look at that.
34:05All right.
34:12Come on down.
34:15Are you sure this is the same place?
34:18This is crazy.
34:22I think I was right about the National Park Brown.
34:24It looks good.
34:26Oh, my goodness.
34:28The color and the roof and the log look...
34:31Absolutely perfect.
34:32What we wanted.
34:32So, we got in here, we started peeling things apart, and we started taking apart the old
34:38kitchen, and we ended up just tearing the whole thing right off.
34:42Really?
34:42Yeah.
34:43Just the roof and the walls.
34:44Yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:44But then once we got that off, we were able to frame everything up how we wanted.
34:51With the new addition, we got a nice big screened-in porch on the front.
34:56A door with a deck instead of stairs.
34:59Yes.
34:59You can actually see people coming there.
35:01Yes, yes.
35:02Instead of the dead man's drop as soon as you opened the door.
35:04Yes.
35:05Yeah, that was good.
35:08We went with the log profile siding.
35:14Vertical on the addition.
35:15Went horizontal on the original part of the house.
35:17We didn't side all four sides of the camp, so we were able to move pretty quickly on this.
35:22I know you guys haven't gotten to use this camp for summer.
35:25This is the time that we want to be using it.
35:27At some point, if you guys want to continue the log siding, you can do the two sides, but they're
35:31perfectly fine.
35:32Excellent.
35:33That's awesome.
35:34This is exactly what we were looking for.
35:35Yeah, and a nice green screw-down metal roofing.
35:38That's just awesome.
35:40Yeah, I mean, it looks like the ranger stations.
35:42It does.
35:42It does.
35:43That's what we were going for.
35:45Yeah.
35:45All right.
35:46Let's head on in.
35:47Great.
35:47That's where a lot of the big changes are.
35:49I can't wait.
35:53Holy cow.
35:53Oh, look at this.
35:54Wow.
35:55Wow.
36:00That's not what I expected at all.
36:03I'm blown away by the kitchen.
36:07It's so nice.
36:09Wow.
36:10I'm speechless.
36:11This is nuts.
36:13Lumbling that up and tearing down that wall opened up everything.
36:17This cannot be the same place.
36:20Most homes revolves around the kitchen, and so the rest of the camp now revolves around that room.
36:26Wow.
36:27Oh, that's for my dad.
36:32And then right away, I saw the little train tribute to my dad.
36:35It's a train spice rack.
36:37What?
36:37Yes!
36:39So you drive the train out, and it's got the spices on the train.
36:46Really cool.
36:47Dad would love it.
36:48That's really great.
36:50Yeah, so the door before was right there.
36:52You had to step down into this space.
36:55We tore off the roof and the walls, and we built a new floor on top of the old one.
37:01And I like the color variation.
37:02That's so cool.
37:03Yeah.
37:04And we wanted to open this up as much as possible, and it just makes this one giant room.
37:10Wow.
37:10That's awesome.
37:11And it feels like camp now with all the wood, right?
37:13Yeah.
37:14Yeah.
37:14Oh, and I love that there's so much more light back there.
37:17It was so dark in that kitchen area before.
37:21It was, yeah.
37:21It looks really nice.
37:23This is so awesome.
37:25Yeah.
37:25The breeze through here with those big screens just, it feels so nice when that breeze is whipping
37:30through here.
37:30I love it.
37:31Exactly what I wanted.
37:32I am looking forward to sitting out there and reading and watching the kids playing in
37:36the water.
37:37It's going to be great.
37:37Wow.
37:38This looks really cool.
37:43You said you wanted lots of pine.
37:45I did.
37:46I like it.
37:46We're kind of simple people.
37:48We don't like a lot of over the tops.
37:50You got a railing, Waylon.
37:51That's what you wanted.
37:52Little rustic.
37:57This looks so much better without those posts that were here.
37:59Yes.
38:04It certainly does.
38:08That looks good.
38:09Awesome.
38:11Good.
38:12I like it.
38:13This looks so nice.
38:14I like the rug.
38:18Bathroom really didn't change much.
38:24You painted.
38:25Painted and rerouted some electrical.
38:27Nice.
38:28Nice.
38:29That looks good.
38:30Wow.
38:31Wow, this looks...
38:32Wow, we got a bench.
38:35Everything is awesome.
38:36It's much brighter in here.
38:38Yeah.
38:38To help speed things along, we didn't touch the ceilings.
38:42You know, it helps lighten everything up.
38:43I actually like that the ceilings be white.
38:45It is very bright in here.
38:46We walked in and I saw the wood and the white ceiling and it's so bright.
38:50Like, it's just relaxing.
38:51Nice view of the water.
38:53I love it.
38:54Your last request was to get rid of that old pressure-treated dock.
38:59Yep.
38:59Thanks.
38:59So we had a new dock installed.
39:03With a ladder.
39:04Yeah, nice aluminum dock, lightweight.
39:07Being able to lift it out by sections is going to be excellent.
39:11Yeah, so when we first met out here, your goal was to be in by July 4th, which was eight
39:17weeks.
39:17We were able to meet the deadline.
39:19Awesome.
39:19You had a budget of $100,000.
39:22So last thing is set of keys.
39:24All right.
39:25All right.
39:26Well, thank you.
39:27Yeah.
39:27You're very welcome.
39:28Have a great 4th.
39:31Enjoy it.
39:32Bye.
39:33Have fun.
39:34The fact that we still have the whole rest of summer to be here, you know, it's going
39:39to just be great that it got it done.
39:40So I'm so happy.
39:42Yeah.
39:42I want to say the cabin masters hit it out of the park.
39:45We knew we were going to get top quality work and I think we received it.
39:48It's, it can't say enough.
39:50Thank you cabin masters.
