00:00Beautiful day, huh?
00:01Late fall.
00:02Today we are in Monmouth on Cobbesee Lake.
00:05So that is the waterfront access for the Moore family.
00:09Hey there, guys.
00:10Good to see you.
00:11Hi.
00:12This reminds us of the first project we ever did, guys.
00:14Yeah, remember your crock pot.
00:15It wouldn't get hot enough.
00:16We haven't had a good old crock pot cook-off lately.
00:19She ain't working.
00:21Yeah.
00:22I think this might be it for roofing.
00:23What are you doing?
00:24I just got a shower.
00:25I'm freezing, so I'm making chili.
00:27For the big chili cook-off?
00:28I've got to tell you guys something.
00:29Whoever wins is going to get a bucket of water dumped
00:32over their head, and I'm not doing it.
00:33Hi.
00:34Welcome back.
00:35That is amazing.
00:37Oh my goodness.
00:45Beautiful day, huh?
00:47Late fall.
00:48It's so peaceful down here.
00:49It's gorgeous.
00:50What do you think we're doing?
00:51Do you think this is a camp right there?
00:53I don't know.
00:54This camp's everywhere.
00:56Well, what did my brother say?
00:57He said, meet us down at the-
01:00Come walk down our huge trail and meet us at the beautiful lake.
01:04And meet us at the beautiful lake.
01:04Today, we are in Monmouth on Cobb Sea Lake.
01:07And we're waiting for Chase.
01:09What do you think he's going to show up in?
01:10I don't know, boat.
01:11Obviously, he's going to come by water.
01:13We need a hammock.
01:15What are we looking at?
01:17How's it going?
01:19Sneaky Pete.
01:20We weren't talking about you.
01:21Were you-
01:22Were we even pulled up?
01:23No.
01:23Good.
01:23We never do.
01:25Never.
01:25So that is the waterfront access for the Moore family.
01:30Okay.
01:31And now we are going to walk up to their camp.
01:34Cool.
01:35Oh, is that it?
01:36Look at that.
01:38Is that an old camper trailer?
01:41Oh, what is going on in there?
01:43Cool, right?
01:44Looking cool.
01:45That's not it.
01:47All right.
01:48Keep hiking.
01:48Keep going.
01:49Next stop.
01:50Oh, that-
01:51There it is.
01:51Nice.
01:53Ready to go.
01:55Good, solid foundation.
01:57Yeah.
01:58No cracks.
01:59Cool.
01:59Why don't we use this?
02:01We are using this.
02:02Nope.
02:03Not it.
02:05Next stop.
02:06How many places are you going to show us before it's the right one?
02:08Are we going to the top of the hill?
02:09Yep.
02:10Hey there, guys.
02:11Good to see you.
02:12That means we've made it.
02:13Hi.
02:14We've made it.
02:15I'm little Paul, per se.
02:17My grandfather is also Paul.
02:19Glad you made it up the big hill.
02:21It's our last stop, I think.
02:23And my family's been coming up here for the last 50 years.
02:28So is your father Paul too?
02:29No, he's a John.
02:31So that's where-
02:32We didn't know if it counted as Paul II, Paul Jr.
02:35So little Paul it was.
02:37I like that.
02:38Yeah, so tell us a little bit about the cabin that was here
02:43and what happened and what you're looking for.
02:46Oh, 2023 that winter.
02:48It wasn't even a snowstorm.
02:49Tree right where we're standing with all these stumps around us.
02:52Smushed it.
02:53So what was the camp originally and what are you looking for?
02:58Oh, it was a cute little camp.
03:01Two beds, only one bath located in the biggest bedroom.
03:05Anyone who wanted to go to the bathroom had to tiptoe past them and be quiet in the bathroom.
03:10Oh, no.
03:11Which can be impossible sometimes.
03:13That's one of the biggest fixes we're looking for.
03:15So if we can get a place that's three bedroom, two full bath.
03:20Okay.
03:20If we can get a loft up above it too for more sleeping space, I think everyone would love that.
03:25And three season.
03:26So that even if you came in, the shoulder season.
03:28Yeah, my family, they're in Texas.
03:30They can't handle when it dips below 60.
03:33Fair enough, fair enough.
03:34We would love a screened in porch.
03:36Nice, soft interior pine and really trying to recapture that soft yellow look on the outside.
03:42So is that the color you want?
03:43The color of that shed over there?
03:45That's the color.
03:45We would love it.
03:46Great.
03:46That's nice and easy for us.
03:48And the old camp was on post.
03:49We see some pucks around.
03:50You're looking for something that's never going to shift and be solid.
03:54Okay.
03:55Were you able to salvage any of the original camp structure?
03:58Yes, a good portion of the structure did survive.
04:01We saved doors.
04:02We saved some miscellaneous furniture, light fixtures, anything to make the new cabin
04:08feel like the old cabin is the goal.
04:10Oh, that's great.
04:10That's awesome.
04:11The hope is even though we're going new, all the memories are still there.
04:14So we want to recapture as many of those memories as we can.
04:17So I think if we can stick all the decorations that were in the old camp in there and make
04:22it feel
04:22like it once was is the goal.
04:24All right.
04:24How much do you have for the build?
04:26If we can sneak under 350, I think that'd be an excellent number.
04:30Okay.
04:31And what is our timeframe to get the build completed?
04:35We got an important number for you.
04:37Next year marks 50 years of Maine for our family.
04:40Wow.
04:41So 4th of July on the waterfront for some fireworks.
04:44I think that would be a beautiful date to be back up to camp.
04:47And there's no keys?
04:48No keys to an empty hole, but I got something you might like a lot better though.
04:53Lance.
04:54Oh, this will make the guys very happy.
04:57All right.
04:57Those real plants.
04:58Authentic.
04:59All right.
04:59Well, we'll get started.
05:00All righty.
05:00We are looking forward to your guys.
05:02We'll see you around the 4th of July.
05:03Excellent work and let there be some fireworks.
05:06Take care.
05:07That's exciting.
05:08Yeah.
05:09That is.
05:10Whoa.
05:11That's it.
05:12Cool.
05:12Oh, that's nice.
05:13Beautiful.
05:14Yeah.
05:15We're building the Moore family a brand new three-season camp on a foundation.
05:19On the outside, it'll have Belgrade siding, painted yellow to match the old camp.
05:22A screened-in porch with a dormer, metal roof.
05:25And we'll have Francis do a little bit of landscaping.
05:27On the inside, it'll be open-concept kitchen and living area with three bedrooms,
05:31two bathrooms.
05:32A space for laundry and a lot for extra sleeping.
05:35We don't call the guys.
05:36We'll call an excavator.
05:37Yeah.
05:38Get Earthworks started.
05:39Call the Earth guys.
05:40All right.
05:42Earth to guys.
06:01It's the start of the build at the Moore camp.
06:05And first things first, we need to get the earthwork going for the foundation.
06:10So we've got Francis over there digging us out so we can get ready for the frost wall.
06:19Once that's set, we'll pour our slab.
06:27Watch your fingers.
06:28Put down our pressure-treated sill plates so we can separate the wood from the concrete
06:32so we can protect our framing from rods.
06:34Money right there.
06:36That did it.
06:39We'll get the floor framed up and sheathed over.
06:42So we can start framing walls.
06:46Ooh, yeah.
06:47Winter was on.
06:48I've been on.
06:49But now everything's frozen solid.
06:51Benny.
06:53So the rush is to get everything closed in, weather tight.
06:56That's awesome.
06:57Looks great.
06:58So that we can actually hold some heat in the space and it's comfortable working.
07:01Ice, ice, baby.
07:07How's it going, guys?
07:11They're too cold to talk to us.
07:13Looks good.
07:14Yeah, they're cranky, even though it's cold weather.
07:16It looks beautiful.
07:17So in that last storm a little over a year ago, a couple of these massive pines.
07:22I mean, right on top of it, crushed the thing.
07:26The Moore family had owned this since the 80s, I think.
07:28They've been coming up here regularly.
07:30And they're from Texas and they do a big Texas 4th of July up here.
07:34What's Texas barbecue?
07:35Wet or dry or poor?
07:37I don't know.
07:37I know they don't put beans in the chili.
07:39They don't?
07:40No, that's not.
07:41Oh, that's right.
07:42They don't put beans in the chili.
07:43It's just chili.
07:44Not even a pinto bean?
07:45No beans.
07:46No beans, just meat.
07:47I mean, yeah, you need meat, but beans.
07:49Everything about lima beans.
07:51No garbanzo.
07:51And I actually put pepperoni in it.
07:54Where did you come up?
07:55I don't know.
07:56I just, I think my stepfather always put pepperoni in his chili.
07:59He'd throw whatever he could in it.
08:01This reminds us of the first project we ever did, guys.
08:03Remember when we joined forces with Chase?
08:05We did that timber frame.
08:06Yeah, I remember your crock pot.
08:07It wouldn't get hot enough.
08:08It was so cold we had to wrap it in your jacket.
08:10We'd wrap it in jackets and then we'd take turns making stuff.
08:13That was cold.
08:13Ashley crossed the hall too many times.
08:15The next thing I know I'm working with her brother.
08:16We're on a roof in January.
08:21We haven't had a good old crock pot cook off lately.
08:24Is it going to be just Texas style chili or all chilies open?
08:29All chilies.
08:30I would say all chilies.
08:31All right, when are we going to do it?
08:33It's going to be towards the end of the build, right?
08:35Final touches day gives us time to perfect our recipes.
08:39All right, final touches it is.
08:41Time to get to work.
08:45Yeah, so it's week eight at the more camp.
08:54The goal today is to get the wall sheathed.
09:00Well, here we go.
09:01Yeah.
09:04Well, we're putting sheeting boards up.
09:09My gun don't like this.
09:11My gun don't like this.
09:13Conditions are colder than, uh, heck.
09:16Is there a break?
09:20A struggle is just keeping your extremities warm.
09:27She ain't working.
09:28And, uh, trying to make the tools work.
09:37We might have to put this in a heated trailer.
09:40Yeah, the guns are frozen.
09:44Yeah, put it in the trailer, you think?
09:45Yeah, she's not firing anymore.
09:50You know, today's a prime example why we never used to build in the winter.
09:5536, baby, 36.
09:57Everything takes more time.
10:01Batteries died.
10:02The air guns don't work.
10:04Nothing likes to work.
10:05But when you're busy and people want you to work and your job's stacked up.
10:10You got to do what you got to do.
10:14Chase, I'm cranking it, baby.
10:15I'm cutting one end.
10:16If it goes over, we'll cut it out after.
10:17Of course.
10:18Pass as we can go.
10:20Jenny, what's your next one all the way to the end?
10:22I vote something at, uh, 35 half.
10:25Can do.
10:35Square 16s.
10:36So we're cranking away today.
10:37We got the first eaveside done.
10:40Second eaveside is ready to rock and roll.
10:4212.
10:44So I've gone ahead and measured in between windows.
10:48And then we stacked them up with a bunch of stuff cut to layout.
10:55It's a sheathing symphony.
10:59Like a shooting ring.
11:00Beautiful.
11:03I say perfect.
11:07Cause it's the symphony.
11:12So we're pretty close to getting all four walls sheathed over.
11:15Perfect.
11:17So we're going to get house wrap on it.
11:19You put it where you like it, sir.
11:21I like it right there.
11:22Get this place closed in as quickly as possible.
11:24Everyone close your eyes and think about six months from now.
11:26Oh man, I'll be sweating.
11:28I'll be complaining about the heat.
11:29I would have gone through three t-shirts already.
11:31It'll be humid.
11:32This has been the biggest deep freeze we've had in the last 10 years, I think.
11:36Lovely, lovely.
11:40Oh, that's it, I think.
11:41And there's no end in sight.
11:43Sheathed.
11:44Sheathed.
11:45Nice.
11:46Hi, guys.
11:47Hey, what you doing?
11:48Is anybody here chili?
11:49Honey, I didn't tell them that you were surprising us.
11:51You know, all this talk of chili and being chili gave me a bright idea to call Ashley.
11:55What's the number one ingredient in that chili?
11:57Meat, of course.
11:58Oh.
11:58No, meat it up.
11:59Have her show up with a little bit of chili for the guys.
12:01What chili do you have here?
12:02This is a home-style chili.
12:04Home-style chili.
12:05Oh, nice.
12:05I've seen some home-style chili.
12:07It was perfect timing.
12:08It was the end of the day.
12:09Ooh, jalapenos.
12:11Oh, that's some good stuff right there.
12:13Delicious.
12:13I'm a chili queen.
12:14Chili queen.
12:15It's a great way to send everyone home happy.
12:18Delicious, thank you.
12:19That was really good.
12:20Yeah, that was perfect on a cold day.
12:21And warm with a full belly.
12:23All right, good job, guys.
12:24Good job, guys.
12:25What about Ashley?
12:26Ashley.
12:27Good job, Ashley.
12:29Good job, chili queen.
12:31Now is a day of beef and beans.
12:40We're ready for it.
12:45It's week 10 at the Mora Camp.
12:47And even though we're still battling freezing temperatures.
12:49Yeah, go past you guys a little bit.
12:51The guys are moving right along.
12:55We've got our carrying beam set for the loft.
13:00The floor joists are in.
13:04And we've got it all sheathed over.
13:07Looks money.
13:16Good morning, guys.
13:17Good morning, all right.
13:18How's it going?
13:19Yeah.
13:21Through mother nature.
13:23It came in at the perfect time.
13:24I'm here to help today.
13:25What time is the crane truck coming?
13:27He said anywhere from 30 minutes.
13:29Beautiful.
13:30And today is a really big day because we're setting up the LVL for our roof system.
13:34It's go time, baby.
13:36We're beaming.
13:37Those three long LVLs, they're 40 footers.
13:40There's 1,000 pounds at least there, you know, with all three of them.
13:43We'll go close to this truck.
13:44Brad's in charge.
13:45I love it.
13:46He's going to set the saw hustlers up so we can take those 40 footers off.
13:49He's going to pick those up.
13:51No problem.
13:51He'll set them here.
13:52We'll unwrap them.
13:53You make it look easy, Dad.
13:56Look at that.
13:58We need to glue them and screw them together to make one long beam.
14:03All right.
14:03Brad went to school for this guy, so pay attention, okay?
14:08One, two, three.
14:11Beautiful.
14:12Yeah.
14:14Yeah.
14:15You got your other tube ready?
14:17Sam's got the other tube warming up.
14:19He's keeping that warm up under his pits and in there.
14:22So stuff gets cold quickly.
14:24Little things like that you got to do.
14:25Got to have a warm tube.
14:27Oh, he's got it.
14:29He's got it.
14:29Yeah, Bradley.
14:31One, two, three.
14:34Beautiful.
14:37Nice.
14:38Then we'll get him in there.
14:40Cut it.
14:41Slow and steady wins the race, guys.
14:43Look at that.
14:44You have seen us use these LVLs for long stretches.
14:48Three bit.
14:49Perfect.
14:50Matty likes it, I like it.
14:51And what it does is it gives you a structural ridge.
14:54Okay, we're good.
14:55Screw it.
14:55So the weight is distributed correctly.
15:00That's killer.
15:00Whoo.
15:02Nice.
15:03That's awesome.
15:05Then we can get going on rafters.
15:13Beautiful.
15:16Absolutely gorgeous.
15:17And we got snow coming.
15:19So it's all hands on deck.
15:23Whoo.
15:23We're rocking a roll in there.
15:25We want to try to get sheeting boards on this roof as fast as possible.
15:32Okay.
15:37Do you want to start bundling up that wood and wrapping it?
15:43Oh, yeah, Sam.
15:43Heads up.
15:47I'm coming up.
15:49I think this might be it for Rupin.
15:50Oh, it is.
15:51Yeah.
15:51Oh, it is.
15:52Who doesn't want a snow day, right, Triggs?
15:58Trigger, this is a bit our addition for our kitchen show.
16:01Down with that, Triggs?
16:02That's a yes.
16:06Tomatoes, beans, onions, peppers, and good old pepperoni.
16:12Yeah, today was a really cold day on the job site.
16:14We got out early, so I went to the grocery store,
16:16got stuff to make some chili.
16:19Hey, honey.
16:20Now I'm ready to go.
16:21Hi.
16:22What are you guys doing?
16:23Oh, I'm so cold today.
16:24He is done.
16:25What are you doing?
16:26I just got out of the shower.
16:27I'm freezing.
16:27I'm making chili.
16:28What?
16:29I'm making chili.
16:30Are you practicing for the big chili cook-off?
16:33Yeah.
16:33It's months away, you know.
16:34I know, but I am taking this serious.
16:36You know, it's a long, cold winter.
16:38Pepperoni?
16:38Yeah, pepperoni.
16:39What do you mean, what do you mean pepperoni?
16:41Are we having pizza?
16:42No, we're having chili.
16:43So now's the time to perfect it.
16:45Pepperoni doesn't go in chili.
16:47It goes in my chili.
16:48No.
16:49Yeah.
16:50No.
16:50I put secret ingredients in mine.
16:52I put pepperoni, maybe some chorizo.
16:55I don't know about this.
16:56Pepperoni brings chili to a whole new continent.
16:58I don't know how I feel about pepperoni.
17:00Really?
17:01Yeah.
17:01Sorry.
17:02You're a judge, right?
17:04Yeah.
17:04It just adds something different.
17:05I don't think I've ever had your chili before, actually.
17:07Well, I don't want to give you all my secret ingredients away.
17:09Well, this is your secret ingredient?
17:10That's one of them, I'll keep a couple for later.
17:12Okay, I know you're kidding.
17:13All my ingredients aren't here.
17:14It's a conversation piece more than anything.
17:15Okay, you know my favorite is pepperoni green pepper pizza.
17:19True.
17:20I was not making it.
17:21I think you're just trying to pull a fast one on me.
17:25You're just trying to trick me.
17:27All right, you go ahead and make your chili.
17:29I'm going to order some pizza.
17:30All right, I'll see you in a little bit.
17:32No, pepperonis go in chili, right?
17:34They only don't want pizza, right?
17:47So is it really just frost?
17:50Yeah.
17:51You boy.
17:53Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:55So it's middle of February at the Moore camp.
18:00It's cold, sub-zero temperatures.
18:04Setting the post today for the covered porch.
18:08Once we get the post set, frame in the deck.
18:13The goal is to get everything closed in and prep for roof.
18:22And siding so that we can focus on the interior.
18:28Oh, battery's dying.
18:35So things are looking good at the Moore camp.
18:38Right in here.
18:43Gorgeous.
18:44Working on windows so siding can continue and then waiting on a roof.
18:48Nice big size screened in porch.
18:51This will kind of stay open.
18:53This part will be closed in over here.
18:55Nice big glass doors here.
18:57Spray foam has been done.
18:58Staircase will be on the side here up to the loft.
19:01Three bedrooms downstairs.
19:03Big open kitchen dining area.
19:06Two bathrooms.
19:08And a washing dryer area.
19:11Trigger!
19:14Oh, wow.
19:16Look at that siding.
19:17That looks awesome.
19:17We're about halfway through the Moore build in Monmouth.
19:20Yeah, I love that.
19:22The place looks amazing.
19:24I know, right?
19:24You hadn't seen it in a while?
19:26Morning.
19:26Morning.
19:27I'm very excited because the color matches perfectly to the old color.
19:32So I know that the Moors are going to be extremely happy about that.
19:35Jedi!
19:38And that old camp really had a lot of meaning to them.
19:41You know what I think about a caulking gun?
19:43Deckering cupcakes.
19:45Every time.
19:46And there were some old pieces of siding left behind from the old camp when it was destroyed by the
19:51storm.
19:51That'd be funny, though, if we took a caulking gun and filled it with frosting.
19:55And just started squirting it in our mouths.
19:57So I'm thinking a way to have a picture of the old camp, which they loved, and incorporate the old
20:05siding.
20:06Oh, mama.
20:07This is so spacious.
20:10This is huge.
20:12I think the picture frame would be the best to do with it using the old siding.
20:16Here it goes.
20:18Okay, here we go up to 91, 92.
20:23Gotcha!
20:24The red juice.
20:26Take that in the chin, you'd know it.
20:28You need my muscles?
20:30Uh, yes, up on that staging.
20:32Are you serious?
20:33Yeah.
20:34There's no way I'm going up on that staging.
20:36Hold on, I got a duck.
20:39That was a scary move.
20:41I think they really do need help up there.
20:43All the other windows are fine except for these three.
20:46What's the problem with them?
20:47No, those flanges pop out of the crevice.
20:51Yeah?
20:52Spell that for me, crevice.
20:54Crevice.
20:55I don't know how to spell crevice.
20:55I don't either.
20:56C-R-E-A-V-A-C-E.
20:59C-R-E-V-A-C-E.
21:01C-R-E-A-V-A-C-E.
21:03Crevice.
21:04Crevice.
21:05Crevice.
21:06C-R-E-V-A-C-E.
21:08One more time.
21:08C-R-E-V-A-C-E.
21:11No.
21:12S-E.
21:12Spell the word crevice.
21:14Crevice.
21:15Crevice.
21:16Crevice.
21:16C-R-E-V-A-C-E.
21:18I'll say it here.
21:19Crevice.
21:20All right.
21:21It's C-R-E-V-I-C-E.
21:23That's what I said.
21:27Oh, yeah.
21:28That's how it's supposed to go.
21:30Oh, yeah.
21:31Just look at it.
21:32Hello.
21:38I sound like a bunch of woodpeckers up there.
21:40Here, Woody.
21:41Once the windows were installed.
21:46Marvellous.
21:48Here.
21:49Hold this.
21:50We started on exterior trim.
21:52Boy, we don't have anything over six feet.
21:53Nope.
21:54Just a basic one by four trim.
21:56How many feet do you need?
21:58I need 78 inches and a half.
22:01How many feet is that?
22:02Over six.
22:05All pre-painted.
22:07So, basically, once we cut it, we paint the ends that are exposed.
22:11Okay, there.
22:12Jane Fonda, let's go.
22:14I'm still cold.
22:16If your mouth was a heater, you'd stay plenty warm.
22:21My toes are freezing.
22:24All right, I got to take off.
22:26Dixie's in charge.
22:28Dixie?
22:29I think I will be a better in charge person.
22:31Get to work.
22:31Yeah, so I was kind of helping Dixie with the trim, but I wasn't really helping Dixie with the trim.
22:36I was really just waiting for Chase to leave.
22:40You're welcome.
22:41Because as soon as Chase left, Chase is leaving.
22:45We could wrap it up.
22:47He's turning the corner.
22:49Nice play-by-play.
22:50You know, all the windows are in.
22:52All the trimmer's up.
22:53There's nothing left to do.
22:54Quentin' time!
22:58Quentin' time!
23:00Quentin' time.
23:01Okay, remember, next time we're here, chili cook-off.
23:03Okay.
23:11Looks awesome.
23:12That looks really good.
23:13So today we're here at the Moor Camp.
23:16I'm moving right along.
23:19It's a great day because we have the roofers here.
23:26The boys and I have been working very diligently on putting the interior pine up, doing all 1x8 v-match.
23:36Basically, once we are done with the pine, we'll come down to flooring,
23:49doors, kitchen,
23:54doors, and doors.
23:54We've offloaded the decking boards for the deck.
23:58And also the outside windows.
24:02So we can install those as well.
24:04We're getting real close to being able to hand it off to Ashley's team.
24:09I just sucked the bug up.
24:16Gorgeous.
24:24Oh, I almost broke the window.
24:26Look, you broke it.
24:27I didn't make it.
24:28Today, Chase and I are at the wood shop.
24:30So I have a picture of the old camp.
24:34And then I have some siding to work on our custom project for the Moor family.
24:38So I was thinking, let's make a picture frame.
24:41Let's make a picture frame that looks like a cabin.
24:44Oh, really?
24:45Yeah.
24:46We're going to make a cabin picture frame for the picture of the cabin.
24:50Yeah, correct?
24:51Yeah.
24:52With the old windows from the cabin that are going to be in the picture.
24:54And the old siding from the cabin that's going to be in the picture.
24:56Yeah.
24:57This is next level.
25:00Why not, right?
25:01When we first met the Moor family, Paul mentioned to us that he had kept some pieces of siding and
25:06some windows from the old camp. They're very sentimental.
25:10Yeah, their camp got destroyed.
25:11I know.
25:12That camp was extremely special to the family.
25:15How big is the cabin going to be?
25:17It's as big as you want.
25:18And they were hoping that we would do something with it.
25:24We're siding it?
25:26Yeah, right?
25:28Yeah.
25:29And then you just do a little pitch roof.
25:32Yeah.
25:32I was just going to build a frame, a simple, nice picture frame out of the siding.
25:36Want me to go cut them all at eight?
25:37Yeah.
25:38One, two, three, four.
25:42Okay. Eight at eight.
25:44And then Chase comes in and comes up with a really cool idea.
25:50Are these my eights?
25:51Right here.
25:51Yeah.
25:52So we use the siding from the old cabin to make the siding for the picture frame.
26:00Looks good to me.
26:01And then the window from the old cabin.
26:06Would you look at that?
26:07Would you look at that?
26:08This is new trim left over from the new camp.
26:13Oh, this is from their camp?
26:14Yeah.
26:14And the new trim that's on the new cabin
26:20is the trim that's on the picture frame.
26:23You guys following all this?
26:24No brain cells necessary.
26:27Only yours.
26:29Money.
26:29Money, money, money.
26:30They really, really, really, really, really, really love their old camp.
26:37In this camp, you know, we use the same colors.
26:39We're trying to, like, give some sort of a feel.
26:43There we go.
26:44Boom.
26:44Look at that picture frame.
26:46But they're going to love their new camp.
26:47They're going to love their new camp, but then they can look back at the old camp.
26:49First of all, you've got the moors right there with the old camp.
26:54This side and this window.
26:56It's awesome.
26:56And constantly be reminded what a great job we did.
26:59And how much more space they have.
27:01Yeah.
27:01If only there was a picture of us in that window.
27:05Mind-blowing.
27:11Morning.
27:12Good morning.
27:13Looks awesome.
27:14It does look beautiful.
27:15Yeah.
27:16Looks really good.
27:17Does Francis need help?
27:19Yep.
27:19So it looks like we can get away with one step.
27:21Slide that rock, then that gutter can shoot down away from under the deck that way.
27:27And then I think if we do just crush stone, same thing, just one step right across the front side.
27:33We should have it.
27:34Doug's here to put in the final plumbing fixtures and kitchen countertops need to go down.
27:39Lovely.
27:40That's about it.
27:41All right, I'll start leveling the ground right here.
27:43Countertops.
27:44Francis is going to bring a machine over to carry these rocks, I hope.
27:47Today we are here at the moor camp.
27:54And we got a lot of stuff going on outside.
27:57I'm your dirt boy.
27:58Chase is working on outside the stairs.
28:01Pull that rock away from the house so the gutter can go by it.
28:04And then we'll put crushed stone in that flat.
28:05We'll build the steps on top of it.
28:06Francis is here.
28:07Woo, it's Monday morning.
28:09He's testing himself.
28:10Ugh, real tight.
28:12Hi, guys.
28:13What's happening?
28:14Oh, this kitchen looks nice.
28:15Inside, you got Brad and myself.
28:17This countertop looks nice.
28:19Thanks.
28:19Working on countertops.
28:21Am I a refrigerator or a stove?
28:23Your stove.
28:24I see a stove over there, maybe.
28:25And installing some appliances.
28:27I'm going to sweat today.
28:28It is going to be a two t-shirt day.
28:30The hottest day of the year so far, the summer.
28:32Hose working.
28:33Nice dog.
28:34We can hose off later.
28:36What do we have here?
28:37And we're eating chili.
28:39Mmm.
28:39Today is the day of the great chili cook-off.
28:43Yeah, chili's going to help you sweat.
28:44Don't know why we didn't do it sooner.
28:46I chose to have a blindfold on.
28:48But we chose to do it today.
28:49I'm going to be a fair judge.
28:52What's the winner going to get?
28:53Do I have some milk?
28:56My chili is I just, like, find what I have,
28:58and I don't measure anything.
29:00Oh, you got a delicate touch.
29:02Throw some kielbasa in it and some pepperonis in it, too.
29:04Chase?
29:05Yeah.
29:05You're a judge today?
29:06Yeah.
29:07Great day for a chili contest.
29:08Opens your paws.
29:09Yeah.
29:10But this time, I put a little brown sugar in it.
29:12I'm surprised you didn't cook a chili, Ashley.
29:14Well, I don't cook chili.
29:15You don't cook.
29:17And a little beef broth.
29:18I'm taking bribes.
29:20Taking bribes?
29:22You don't know whose is whose.
29:23I know.
29:24The chili ingredients I used was three pounds of ground beef,
29:28about two pounds of chopped sirloin.
29:30Rock and roll, baby.
29:33Some onions, and I roasted jalapenos.
29:35What do you want to win for your contest today?
29:38Hmm, what is it I want?
29:40And the main ingredient?
29:41Spicy Bloody Mary mix.
29:43I don't know, I'll take a day off.
29:45Okay.
29:47During the week.
29:48Paid.
29:49This was my wife's recipe.
29:52Chase?
29:53What?
29:53We need to come up with what the winners of the chili contest are going to get.
29:56So I started out with garlic, onion, and red bell pepper.
30:00What if we give them a paid day off?
30:02Oh.
30:02Then you add all your spices.
30:05What if we give them a new car, a new truck?
30:09And then a ground chicken.
30:10Do they like screws?
30:12Nope.
30:13Shh.
30:13I could totally sabotage the other chilies while no one's looking, but I won't do that to
30:18my fellow workers.
30:19And then red kidney beans.
30:24Lovely.
30:28Okay, so since Chase wasn't any help, I just found this rock.
30:33I'm going to clean it off.
30:35Okay, let's see which way do we want it.
30:37Kind of like that.
30:40And then I have some paint in my car.
30:42How about this orange?
30:44And I'm just going to paint 2025 MCM chili cook-off winner.
30:49And then I'm going to get a big bowl with water, cold water, dump it over the winner's head.
30:56Let's see.
30:57What do you think?
30:58Does that look like a piss trophy to you?
31:00Right?
31:00We're rocking a nice bath.
31:02Who wouldn't want that for a win?
31:04They're going to kill me.
31:05All right.
31:06Best thing is we don't have to make stand strings anymore.
31:08Just one box.
31:09All right.
31:09Yeah, the stairs are pretty simple.
31:11It was just one step's a box.
31:13Yeah.
31:15Beautiful.
31:16Two boards.
31:19Boom, and the next one.
31:20Same on the side.
31:23All right, it's time for the chili cook-off.
31:25Chili Doug?
31:26Doug would be a good taste tester.
31:28I have a great judge lineup.
31:30So we have contested one, two, and three.
31:32We don't know who they are.
31:32This is blind.
31:33I had Francis.
31:35Here's one for Doug.
31:37I had Doug, and I had Chase.
31:39What do you think about this one?
31:40This one isn't for a vegetarian.
31:42This one's kind of sweet.
31:42It doesn't have garbanzo beans, so it's a win right there.
31:45And it has pepperoni in it.
31:47Oh!
31:47All are very well experienced with chili.
31:51All right, don't fill up on it.
31:52I'm going to give you a second one.
31:54One for you.
31:56Mmm, I like the peppers.
31:57Good pepper flavor.
31:58I like the garlic.
32:00Yep, two packs of punch.
32:01They had great palates.
32:03Spicy!
32:04It's good.
32:05They were experiencing it a totally different way than I was.
32:07Delicious.
32:08Two is good.
32:09Yep.
32:10Here we go, number three.
32:12I was really glad to have them.
32:14Oh, I see these chunks of steak, I think.
32:16Wow.
32:18Oh, spicy.
32:20Oh, good smoky flavor, though.
32:21Oh, I'm good.
32:22Holy smokes.
32:23Let's go.
32:24Start privately.
32:25Yeah, you know, I mean, it's a big responsibility being a judge.
32:28So, I've got to tell you guys something.
32:30Whoever wins is going to get a bucket of water dumped over their head,
32:33and I'm not doing it.
32:34Ha!
32:34Oh, it's like Super Bowl.
32:36Exactly.
32:37Yeah, mine was sweeter than I thought it was going to be.
32:39Anyway, let's just discuss which one you guys think is the winner.
32:43I liked number two.
32:45I liked the number one with the pepperoni.
32:47Hadn't had pepperonis and chilis before.
32:49And number three, the meat, the smoky flavor.
32:52I'm 3-1-2.
32:53Three?
32:54Yeah, the smoke, it looks like chunks of steak.
32:56Okay, I know.
32:56I'm going to go 1-3-2.
32:59I'm going to go 2-3-1.
33:00I like three the best.
33:01Okay.
33:02So, that's two votes for three, right?
33:04Two votes for three.
33:05That wins.
33:05Okay, let's go reveal the results.
33:09Okay, the trophy for the 225 MCM chili cook-off winner goes to number three.
33:24Jedi, nice job.
33:26Jedi!
33:27Woo!
33:28It was a close, close, close call.
33:31But Jedi won because he put steak and he put hamburger.
33:34Okay, Jedi, here you go.
33:36Main chili master.
33:37Da-na-na-na, my chili rocks.
33:39Oh!
33:42Yay!
33:44Warm up with the chili, cool off with a nice splash.
33:47Clean up, aisle 12.
33:51Cha-cha-chase.
33:53Looks good.
33:54They are going to love this.
33:56Today's the day we're finally able to give the cabin to the Moore family.
33:59Awesome.
34:00Our custom picture frames over there.
34:02They were very adamant that they wanted the camp to feel like the old camp.
34:06And Paul mentioned to us that he had kept some pieces from the original camp.
34:13So, my team was able to come in and fuse their furniture.
34:17And then we added some of our own design touches.
34:22And I think the Moore's are going to absolutely love it.
34:24Let's go meet him.
34:25All right.
34:27Oh, wow.
34:28Look at the cabin wall.
34:30Oh, my goodness.
34:33They nailed the color matching side panels.
34:36Oh, goodness.
34:37What a transformation.
34:39Hi.
34:42That is amazing.
34:43Oh, my goodness.
34:44Welcome back.
34:45Welcome back.
34:46Hi.
34:47Good to see you.
34:48Good to see you.
34:49Hi.
34:49Just coming up and seeing the color that the old camp was.
34:54Hi.
34:54Good to see you again.
34:56Started the just initial warm feeling of this is what our camp was.
35:02I am so surprised.
35:04I really am.
35:05Good.
35:05Good, good.
35:06And this is what it will be for the future.
35:08Yeah, so it's on a frost wall foundation.
35:12It's got this beautiful screen and porch on the front.
35:16Nice entryway.
35:18We went with the same novelty siding, you know, matched up the color of the sheds to keep it as
35:23close to the original as possible, even though it's all brand new.
35:26A nice standing seam metal roof.
35:28And Francis was able to use beautiful flat stones for a walkway in.
35:32It looks beautiful.
35:33Oh, this is beautiful.
35:34And this morning, I thought, this is just going to be like a birthday party.
35:37I wonder if we need to close our eyes as we walk up.
35:42Well, let's head on in.
35:44All right.
35:44Let's go.
35:46Oh, my gosh.
35:48Oh, look at this.
35:49This is beautiful and so much space.
35:52And all of the small touches here are so special.
35:55Well, you had a lot of beautiful things to work with.
35:57Well, thank you.
35:58It's really nice.
35:59All right.
35:59Well, there's more to see.
36:01Okay.
36:01Let's keep rolling.
36:02All right.
36:07Are you kidding me?
36:11Wow.
36:16Oh, the real cabin master's right there.
36:19Oh, my goodness.
36:21This is the old siding.
36:24Your old window.
36:26Oh, my gosh.
36:27And then Chase and I just made it to look like a cabin.
36:29It's your old cabin.
36:30It's your old cabin.
36:31So now you'll never forget it, okay?
36:33The picture of us is a picture that our grandson Paul took many years ago.
36:39Oh, I love that.
36:41It was always a special thing that he had done.
36:44And all of a sudden, it's in the new camp.
36:46But you would think when you express your amazement at something that has been built for you,
36:52you would come up with a lot of wonderful words.
36:54And all I can think of is, wow, wow.
36:58And that made it home again.
37:00It's so light in here.
37:02Yeah.
37:02It is so bright.
37:03Wow.
37:04Look at how big it is.
37:06This is huge.
37:07It is.
37:08Oh, we have plenty of room to sleep, everybody.
37:10Okay, we can enlarge the family some more.
37:13That's what your grandchildren are for.
37:15I've got nine nieces and nephews.
37:18They have partners.
37:20Okay, people, get married and have kids.
37:22Wow.
37:24And if there's one thing that Maine has always been.
37:30Look how cozy it is.
37:32And then look at the windows.
37:33The light.
37:34Yay.
37:34It's a place where we all come together as a family.
37:37You can't even reach the top, Paul.
37:39Oh, I can't.
37:40And we're able to spend that special time together.
37:43Look at the picture.
37:44Who are they?
37:46Who are those youngsters?
37:49And there's truly enough room for all of us.
37:52Oh, wow.
37:54Finally, no one has to walk through the bedroom to get to the bathroom.
37:57This one's yours.
37:59Everybody had to go through our bedroom to get to the only bathroom.
38:04Well, I have to say this bathroom was fancier than our bathroom at home.
38:09So we know how many people get up during the night.
38:14Oh, my goodness.
38:17This is heaven.
38:18Oh, that's the mirror from the bedroom.
38:21Yeah.
38:21And it is going to be wonderful that we now have two separate bathrooms.
38:26Oh, my gosh.
38:27Wow.
38:27And another beautiful shower.
38:29Then everybody can be free to use a bathroom in peace.
38:35It feels like a brand new camp, but it feels like the old camp.
38:40Right.
38:40Good.
38:41Because of all the wonderful things that you have incorporated into it.
38:46It's absolutely lovely.
38:48Yeah.
38:49I mean, when you first reached out, your big requests to try and mimic the feel of the old camp.
38:54We had $350,000 in 36 weeks to get the project completed.
38:59You had hoped to get it before the 4th of July.
39:02We made it.
39:06So here are the keys to your new camp.
39:10Yeah.
39:11I'm sure you're anxious to show the rest of the family.
39:13We are.
39:14We are.
39:14To show them.
39:15Enjoy.
39:16Thank you so much.
39:16You're very welcome.
39:17Thank you so much.
39:18And a very emotional journey from the total loss of a camp of 50 years of memory.
39:25And there is that fear of have you lost the source where you create memories and have the family bonds.
39:36Looking at this camp, it has more than taken away all my fears, all my worries.
39:43This is going to be another 100 years plus of just creating wonderful memories.
39:49Thank you, Cabin Masters.
39:52Woo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo.
39:55Thank you so much for joining us.
39:56Cheers.
