00:08at the 11th Star Property Real Estate Developer Awards 2026,
00:12as the nation's real estate sector continued to set new benchmarks in excellence.
00:18Organised by Star Property, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star Media Group,
00:22the Gala-honoured industry leaders who are redefining standards in design, quality and home building.
00:30In his opening remarks, SMG Group Chief Executive Officer Chan Seng-Fat highlighted the rigorous evaluation process
00:36that underpins the award's credibility.
00:39What gives this award its credibility is the rigorous behind the process.
00:46Every submission undergoes a comprehensive evaluation by an independent panel of distinguished judges
00:54from across the property ecosystem, including architects, planners, valuers, engineers and other industry experts.
01:06Guest of Honour, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kuo Ming,
01:10underscored the vital role developers play in the nation's economy.
01:13Within the real estate sector, it is undeniable that Malaysia's developers serve as a primary engine of Malaysia's macroeconomic growth.
01:25This year, 110 recipients across 35 categories were honoured.
01:30Two special recognition awards rounded out the evening.
01:34The Iconic Development of the Year Award, claimed by Merdeka 118 and the Real Estate Icon of the Year Award,
01:40presented to Tanshree Liu Kisin of Echo World.
01:43It cannot be a one-man show. It has to be teamwork.
01:47Once you have a team in place, whatever you want to achieve, it is possible.
01:51So we spend a lot of effort and time in building a team.
01:55It's one principle we never compromise.
01:57When we developed Merdeka 118, we anchor on our heritage,
02:01which is from Stadium Merdeka, where the nation was born,
02:06up to the Merdeka 118 Tower, the second tallest building in the world.
02:09And how we connect the whole precinct in terms of movement, in terms of the experience,
02:15and in terms of how each component of the precinct supports each other.
02:18I think that's going to be a very good case study for years to come.
02:22In the developers' ranking category, TSLaw Lansendirian Berhad took the top spot among non-listed companies,
02:29while Saim Darby Property emerged as the top-ranked listed developer and the night's biggest winner,
02:34claiming ten awards in total, including two Reader's Choice Awards.
02:40Well, if I were to sum it up, it would be a clarity of purpose, why we exist, an inspiring
02:52strategy,
02:54a great team of people, and a fantastic culture.
02:58And with that, it actually gives us more encouragement and the passion and the drive to move forward,
03:02to do better and deliver better products and projects for the industry.
03:05This year also introduced a new Urban Renewal Award, recognizing developers behind exemplary projects
03:12that transformed, revitalized, or repurposed existing and underutilized real estate.
03:18In Paramount Properties, we're always guided by our Design for Life ethos.
03:24And also, we're very proud of, as a property developer, as a people's developers.
03:32Okay, so for this particular Brownfield project, the Atrium, it's actually an adaptive reuse project.
03:38So, we actually transformed an existing building, an existing hotel, a 20-year-old hotel, into brand new apartments.
03:48What we have done is, for future proofing, right?
03:53Basically, we try to maintain the whole structure, minimum demolish, demolish of the structure, so that we are more sustainable.
04:04We actually focus a lot on the design as well, on the workability of the whole development.
04:10Connecting, measure the seamless connection between all the different components,
04:15so that it actually feels safe, feel easy, and feel natural to work among these components.
04:21And this is how we actually bring all these components together into a one integrated development.
04:27And most importantly, I should say that in this special project, that we adopt, what I call, additive use.
04:37So, we recycle a lot of building material, and a lot of additive finishes, whatever.
04:45We keep 90% of the structure, architectural, and we do a lot of recycling to use back a lot
04:54of material.
04:55So basically, when you look at the final product of what you have, and you see what is today,
05:00and the property passed down by ISKL, it's more than the same.
05:05Also in attendance were SMG Chief Operating Officer Lydia Wang, Chief Content Officer Datin Paduka Esther Ng,
05:12and event partner Kohler's Associate Marketing Manager for Malaysia and Singapore, Vincent Wong.
