00:00He might want to, like, just take a shot at boss
00:02and, oh, it always has to be something other than
00:04we're just not playing well.
00:05No, this time it was just they aren't playing well.
00:08And, yeah, I don't think that the relationships are great
00:10between Breslau and Cora
00:11or between maybe Cora and some young players,
00:14but I don't think they're dragging him.
00:16In fact, I think they did the opposite.
00:17They did nothing but say nice things about him
00:19on the way out the door.
00:21Yeah, they just knew it wasn't right.
00:22And, like, we're going to do this another four months.
00:25If we're going to cut Corden in four months,
00:26do it now to get us going in a different direction
00:28if we're not all on board.
00:30I mean, and was Cora the guy who was taking the blame
00:33publicly from the fan base?
00:35No.
00:35No, I mean, everybody said, well, you know what?
00:36You've got to do something.
00:37But I would say most people acknowledged,
00:40hey, Alex Cora is not the reason why the team isn't playing well.
00:43This is not a situation like Terry Francona had in his final year
00:47with a stacked roster that completely crumbled
00:51under the final month that just fell apart
00:53because they just weren't putting in the effort
00:56to get to the finish line.
00:57And so I disagree with Francona on this.
01:00I don't think that's what's happening with Alex Cora.
01:02I think it was for all the things he said.
01:04Weren't hitting well enough.
01:06Weren't pitching well enough.
01:07They weren't winning enough games this season.
01:12And sometimes the manager takes the fall for that.
01:14And so I just, I don't know.
01:16I think these guys are playing it up.
01:17Like, it was more dramatic than it actually was.
01:19So I don't know.
01:20I don't think they're playing it up.
01:21I think Francona's take on Boston is outdated.
01:24I think he was the manager in Boston at a time
01:26when you were under the microscope in a way that
01:29the Red Sox just don't carry that same weight anymore.
01:33But think about the time frame that he was the manager of the Red Sox.
01:36He was in it, man.
01:38That was like the peak of the powers.
01:40And so, yes, for him and the way that he views this city,
01:43I'm sure he probably assumes it's something similar to what he experienced.
01:46And I don't think it's anywhere close, close to what he dealt with.
01:52It's carryover for him.
