00:00This is Rochelle with tonight's weather forecast.
00:03Thank you, Nisha. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:06Here's a round down on your weather.
00:08Today was predominantly sunny with brief showers reported in some areas.
00:13Daytime temperatures were 33.3 in Trinidad and 31.0 in Tobago.
00:18So you're probably saying we're in the wet season.
00:21Why is it still extremely hot?
00:23Well, because May is a transitional month,
00:27so rainy periods will likely alternate with dry weather and Saharan dust.
00:32Right now, the Saharan dust is making the atmosphere drier than usual.
00:36So over the next few days, conditions are expected to stay fairly dry
00:41with a moderate amount of Saharan dust in the air.
00:44But don't get too comfortable.
00:46Now is the perfect time to start putting things in place.
00:50Moving on now to what we can expect tonight.
00:52Tonight will be generally fair with a chance for one or two brits per showers
00:56with minimum temperatures at 25 degrees in both islands.
00:59And those same one or two brits showers will continue into the wee hours of the morning.
01:06Conditions will then be mostly fair, sunny and breezy
01:09with a chance for a moderate shower from late morning to early afternoon,
01:14especially near hilly areas and the western peninsula of Trinidad.
01:18Tomorrow's maximum temperatures are expected at 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.
01:23And when it comes to Saharan dust, well, there will be fluctuations in concentration,
01:30ranging from slight to moderate at times.
01:33Sensitive persons, of course, are advised to take all the necessary precautions.
01:37Moving on now to our weekend forecast.
01:40Are you hoping for sunny skies?
01:42Well, on Saturday, you will get that sunshine for majority of the day.
01:46However, conditions will become partly cloudy during the late morning
01:49to afternoon with brief, moderate showers in some areas.
01:53And on Sunday, those brief showers will occur instead during the afternoon to early evening
01:59with a low chance of heavy showers near hilly areas and south Trinidad.
02:05Maximum temperatures for the weekend will be 33 degrees in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.
02:10Looking at our sun times now, in Trinidad, sunrises at 5.45 and 5.41 in Tobago
02:16and sunset at 6.19 in Trinidad and 6.16 in Tobago.
02:21Now, who's going to the beach tomorrow?
02:23If you are, seas will be slight to moderate with waves of 1 meter to 1.5 meters in open
02:28waters
02:29and less than 1 meter in sheltered areas.
02:32It's now time for your Thai Times.
02:44It's Thursday, so you know what that means.
02:47It's time for a quick quiz.
02:48And of course, we're staying on the topic of disaster preparedness for the wet season.
02:54Question.
02:55Why can't saturated soil increase hazards during the wet season?
02:59Is it A. It makes temperatures rise rapidly.
03:02B. It can trigger landslides and uproot trees.
03:04C. It prevents rivers from overflowing.
03:07Or D. It weakens thunderstorms.
03:09Well, the answer to that is B. It can trigger landslides and uproot trees.
03:15Let's make sure to take action now, guys.
03:18Well, that's all for weather tonight.
03:20Your sports news is up next with Sachin.
03:23Thank you very much, Rochelle.
03:24It can also make you slip and slide, all right?
03:26To come and sport, Nikita, go sign.
