00:00EU Member States and European Parliament negotiators has agreed to ban artificial intelligence tools
00:05used to create non-consensual sexualized deepfakes under a new set of digital safety rules.
00:12The ban will also cover the creation of AI material depicting child sexual abuse
00:18and other exploitative content involving minors.
00:23The agreement still requires formal approval from the European Parliament and EU Member States
00:28before the new measures can officially take effect.
00:31However, the approval process is widely expected to pass without major opposition,
00:36as Member States have already backed the proposed legislation.
00:40If approved, companies will have until December 2nd this year
00:44to ensure their AI systems fully comply with the new regulations.
00:48The move follows global outrage earlier this year over non-consensual nude images
00:54that were reportedly generated using Elon Musk's chatbot Grog.
00:58Since then, several countries have temporarily restricted access to Grog
01:02following concerns over its misuse in creating obscene and non-consensual images.
