00:05From 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York, it's Late Night with Seth Meyers.
00:12Tonight, Alan Cumming, star of Landman, actress, Allie Larder.
00:18An all-new, closer look.
00:25And now, Seth Meyers.
00:28Good evening, everybody. I'm Seth Meyers.
00:30This is Late Night. We hope you're doing well.
00:31And now, if you don't mind, we're going to get to the news.
00:34In a new interview, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
00:38said that President Trump has the worst diet of anyone in the administration
00:42and added, quote, I don't know how he's alive.
00:45I hear ya.
00:47There have been times where I don't even know if he's alive.
00:52While touring a Fort factory yesterday in Michigan,
00:55President Trump appeared to raise his middle finger
00:57and mouth you to a worker who called him a, quote,
01:01pedophile protector.
01:02To be fair, he didn't do a very good job protecting this one.
01:08That's right.
01:09President Trump gave a heckler the middle finger
01:11and appeared to mouth you to the man.
01:13Wow, I've never seen him be so crude and disrespectful.
01:16To a man.
01:20The USDA tweeted a picture of President Trump this week
01:23with a milk mustache, and the tweet said,
01:25Drink up, America.
01:27That's right, kids.
01:28Drink your milk so you can grow up big and angry?
01:32This is supposed to make you want milk?
01:34It looks like he forgot to check the sell-by date.
01:38President Trump canceled plans yesterday
01:40to meet with Iranian officials,
01:42and as someone who loves canceling plans,
01:44I'm going to have to give him a pass on this one.
01:47You just got your Tuesday night back.
01:49There's a new season of The Traitors.
01:51Most relatable thing he's done in 10 years.
01:54President Trump is set to meet tomorrow
01:56with Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Karina Machada.
02:00Well, she might want to leave her Nobel Peace Prize at home.
02:03That would be like bringing the ring
02:04to your meeting with Gollum.
02:10When asked in a new interview about high grocery prices,
02:13President Trump said,
02:14I've only been here for 11 months, okay?
02:16Well, that's, like, a while.
02:19Pretty sure you wouldn't give leeway to a waiter who said,
02:22Sorry, it's my 340th day.
02:25Former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton
02:27refused to testify yesterday
02:29in the House Oversight Committee's investigation
02:31into Jeffrey Epstein.
02:32I have nothing to hide about my relationship with Epstein,
02:35said Hillary only.
02:40In a video posted this week on social media,
02:43former New York mayor Eric Adams
02:44appeared to get into an altercation
02:46with another passenger while disembarking a plane
02:48and said, quote,
02:50You're going to see the Brooklyn in me.
02:51Ooh.
02:52What are you going to do?
02:53Sell him a $9 coffee?
02:57Well, speaking to SpaceX staffers this week,
03:00Elon Musk said that he wants to create, quote,
03:02epic futuristic spaceships with lots of people in them
03:05traveling to places we've never been to before,
03:07which for him means, I'm guessing, prom?
03:13And finally, the frozen foods brand,
03:16Oryda, today released a limited edition line of skis
03:19designed to look like French fries.
03:21Now, you and your health can both go downhill.
03:24And that was a monologue, everybody.
03:28We're off and running.
03:30We've got a great show for you tonight.
03:31You know him from Schmigadoon, The Good Wife,
03:34and Cabaret on Broadway.
03:35He's back as the host of The Traitors,
03:37now in its fourth season,
03:38with new episodes available Thursdays on Peacock.
03:41Our friend Alan Cumming is back on the show.
03:44He's a talented actress.
03:45You know from shows such as Heroes and Pitch,
03:48as well as movies like Legally Blonde
03:51and the Resident Evil franchise.
03:53Check her out on the season finale of Landman,
03:55which streams this Sunday, January 18th,
03:58on Paramount+.
03:58Allie Larder will also be joining us, everybody.
04:02Check out her family trips.
04:04Phoebe Robinson this week.
04:06She was wonderful.
04:07You guys, moving on.
04:08A majority, a majority of Americans
04:10disapprove of ICE and its tactics,
04:13but the Trump administration is doubling down
04:15on its presence in Minnesota.
04:16For more on this, it's time for A Closer Look.
04:22We keep going back to this,
04:24but I think it's worth remembering this.
04:26This is how Donald Trump sold his mass deportation program
04:30to voters during the campaign.
04:31We are going to start with violent criminals.
04:33We have to get all of these criminals,
04:35these murderers and drug dealers and everything.
04:38We're getting them out.
04:38And we got to get the criminals out first.
04:41We're going to get the criminals,
04:42the murderers, the drug dealers.
04:44We're going to get the criminals out,
04:46but don't worry,
04:47we're also going to bring new criminals in.
04:49We're calling it
04:50the Trump Criminal Exchange Program.
04:52You get one of ours, we get one of yours.
04:55By the way, there are other types of criminals
04:57besides murderers and drug dealers.
04:59I mean, what about fraudsters and financial criminals?
05:02No?
05:03Better yet, what about people
05:04who don't pick up after their dog?
05:07If you ask me,
05:08those people should be deported to Siberia.
05:12It's an epidemic here in New York.
05:14There's dog everywhere.
05:16If your dog is on the sidewalk
05:17and you don't have a bag,
05:18you should be forced to carry it home in your hands.
05:20Or how about this?
05:21If you don't have a bag,
05:22you leave a note with your address
05:23so the city can pick it up with a little shovel
05:25and mail it to you, you know?
05:27And then,
05:27honey, you got a letter from the city.
05:29Is it jury duty?
05:30I wish.
05:34It is duty.
05:39The point is,
05:40if you say you're going to get violent criminals
05:41off the streets,
05:42of course people are going to be into that.
05:44But that was a lie.
05:45It would have been much less popular
05:47if Trump had announced his plan
05:48was to hire an army of out-of-shape uncles
05:51to hang around Target
05:52and aggressively ask people where they were born.
05:54And that's what's really happening.
05:55Instead of deporting violent criminals
05:57like Trump promised,
05:58we just keep getting this.
05:59Roosevelt High School students speaking out
06:01after they tell our news team
06:03ICE agents were there yesterday.
06:05A student telling our news team
06:07ICE agents arrived at Roosevelt High
06:10yesterday afternoon
06:12and blocked part of the road
06:13and chased people near the entrance.
06:16We're told some students
06:17were pepper sprayed during the incident.
06:19The student tells us
06:20someone was tackled by federal agents.
06:23ICE is making arrests in Minnesota
06:24right next to shoppers grabbing groceries.
06:27Tense encounters like these
06:28are happening at private businesses.
06:31Target appears to be a possible target
06:33for immigration enforcement in Minnesota.
06:35It's one of several businesses
06:36where ICE agents have arrested people,
06:39including staff,
06:40from the parking lot
06:41to the inside of the store.
06:42Why the hell is ICE spending time at Target?
06:44What's next?
06:45Are they going to deport the Target dog?
06:47She's a bull terrier.
06:48Bull terriers are from England.
06:49Go back to drinking tea and crumpets,
06:52you limey wanker.
06:53I'm sorry.
06:53I'm just...
06:55I'm just still so mad about the dog.
06:56I shouldn't be taking it out on her.
06:58By the way,
06:59to accomplish all of this,
07:01ICE has had to hire a lot more people
07:03as quickly as possible,
07:04which means lowering their recruitment standards.
07:06And even still,
07:07new recruits are struggling
07:08to meet those lower standards.
07:11President Donald Trump's plan
07:11to double the size of the ICE workforce
07:13has met a foe more powerful
07:14than any activist group.
07:16It is decimating new recruits
07:18at the agency's training academy in Georgia.
07:21It is the ICE personal fitness test.
07:23According to The Atlantic,
07:24more than a third of new recruits
07:26are failing basic fitness tests,
07:27push-ups, sit-ups,
07:28even a short run,
07:29with senior ICE officials
07:30using words like pathetic and disaster
07:32to describe the process.
07:34Wow, you know it's bad
07:35when even your own bosses
07:36are calling you pathetic and a disaster.
07:38And also, you know,
07:39that feels a little unfair.
07:41I mean, show me one video
07:42that proves ICE agents
07:43aren't in peak physical condition.
07:45My big city!
07:51Wow, and ICE agents slipped on the ice.
07:55You know where he landed?
07:56On the nose.
07:59All right, so maybe they're not crushing
08:01the physical side of the job.
08:02Surely, they're making up for it
08:04with their wits, right?
08:06Right?
08:06They're making up for it
08:08with their wits?
08:09Some exclusive new reporting here
08:11from NBC News
08:12reveals Immigration and Customs Enforcement
08:14has placed new recruits
08:15into training
08:16before being fully vetted
08:18as part of the hiring search
08:19to meet President Trump's
08:20mass deportation goals.
08:22As a result,
08:22ICE officials later discovered
08:24that some recruits
08:24had criminal backgrounds,
08:26failed drug tests,
08:27or they didn't meet
08:28physical or academic standards.
08:30Nearly half of recruits
08:31failed the written exam,
08:34even with access
08:35to notes and textbooks.
08:37Recent reporting suggests
08:39these new lower hiring standards
08:41have resulted in ICE recruits
08:43who have barely been able
08:45to read or write.
08:46Okay, so maybe when they're screaming,
08:48do you speak English,
08:49innocent people,
08:50they're just looking for a tutor.
08:53Hablo engeis!
08:54Oh, you do? Great.
08:55How do you spell there
08:56when you mean belonging to someone?
08:59Also, how the do you fail
09:01an open book test?
09:02Of course, these jabronis
09:04probably think the words
09:05open book test means
09:06it's a test to see
09:07if you can open a book.
09:09Hey!
09:09What do you mean I failed?
09:11I opened that mother
09:11right up!
09:13Oh, don't tell me
09:14you gotta close it, too.
09:15No one knows how to do that!
09:18So the Trump administration
09:19is flooding American cities
09:20with an army of untrained,
09:22out-of-shape ICE agents
09:23to wreak havoc in schools,
09:25neighborhoods,
09:25and grocery stores,
09:26which is why it's no surprise
09:27that Americans really
09:28don't like what they're seeing.
09:3052% of Americans
09:32disapprove of ICE
09:33and think that it's going too far.
09:34YouGov finds that Americans
09:36think ICE actually makes
09:37Americans less safe,
09:38not more safe,
09:39by a 13-point margin.
09:42And Quinnipiac finds that
09:44voters disapprove of the way
09:45ICE is enforcing immigration laws
09:47by a 17-point margin.
09:50Approval of Kristi Noem's ICE
09:53itself has plummeted
09:5630 percentage points
09:58since she took control.
10:01More than half of Americans,
10:0254%,
10:03say ICE's tactics
10:06are too extreme,
10:08and only about 25%
10:11support the tactics.
10:13This is a true thing
10:14I'm about to tell you.
10:15More Americans believe in ghosts
10:17than support the tactics of ICE.
10:18Only about 25%
10:20support ICE's tactics,
10:21while 38% believe in ghosts.
10:23And I'm one of them.
10:24I mean, ghosts are everywhere.
10:25There's even one
10:26in the White House.
10:32It's genuinely difficult
10:33to find anything
10:34in American public life
10:35that's as unpopular as ICE.
10:37I mean, even that
10:37live-action Cats movie
10:39has a higher rating
10:41on the Rotten Tomatoes
10:42popcorn meter,
10:43although it probably
10:43has something to do
10:44with the fact that
10:44Idris Elba was in that movie
10:46and played a sexy cat.
10:47I mean, look at that.
10:48When I first saw this,
10:49I felt all kinds of feelings
10:51I'd never felt before.
10:52I had to ask myself
10:53some very uncomfortable questions,
10:54like, am I attracted
10:56to the cat version
10:57of Idris Elba,
10:57or am I just that mad at dogs?
11:01I know this much.
11:02That guy would never poop
11:03on the sidewalk.
11:04The point is,
11:05ICE is wildly unpopular,
11:06and their conduct
11:07is also causing a crisis
11:09within the Justice Department,
11:10with six officials
11:11resigning in protest.
11:13You would think,
11:13as president,
11:14Trump would want
11:14to calm the nation.
11:15Instead, he took time
11:17out of a speech on Tuesday
11:18to do this.
11:19Isn't it nice to have
11:20a president that can
11:21go off teleprompter?
11:23Remember the speeches,
11:24Joe?
11:24First of all,
11:25they'd last a matter of seconds,
11:26you know?
11:27Thank you very much.
11:30You ever notice,
11:30Joe would always cough
11:31before a speech?
11:32State of the Union,
11:33he gets,
11:33ha, ha, ha, ha.
11:40That's not what
11:41a cough sounds like.
11:47You sound like
11:48an ICE agent
11:49trying to do a sit-up,
11:50or maybe just one
11:52taking an open book test.
11:54Ha, ha, ha, ha.
12:01Ha, ha, ha.
12:03Also, I love that speech
12:05we just showed a clip from
12:06was Trump saying
12:07Biden gave speeches.
12:09I mean, at least Biden
12:10wasn't doing sound effects.
12:11Meanwhile, that seems like
12:12all you're doing these days.
12:14Ha, ha, ha.
12:17Bang.
12:18Pshin.
12:19Pum.
12:20Ha, ha, ha.
12:23Ha, ha.
12:25Ha, ha.
12:26Ha, ha.
12:29Ha.
12:31Ha.
12:32At this point,
12:33you're just making sounds
12:35that we all make
12:36after watching you every day.
12:38Ha, ha.
12:39Ha, ha.
12:40Ha, ha, ha.
12:42The polls are clear
12:43most Americans do not want
12:44armed agents wreaking havoc
12:46in their schools,
12:47neighborhoods,
12:48and grocery stores,
12:49especially when those
12:50armed agents are not
12:51even qualified for the job.
12:53They're out there.
12:53They're tripping.
12:54They're falling.
12:56They're making sounds like this.
12:58Ha, ha, ha.
13:01Ha, ha.
13:02This has been
13:03A Closer Look.
13:08We'll be right back
13:09with Alan Cumming,
13:09everybody.

13:29Hi, friends.
13:29Tonight is an Emmy and Tony
13:31award-winning actor and writer.
13:32You know from his work
13:33in Schmigadoon,
13:34The Good Wife,
13:35X2,
13:35X-Men United,
13:36and Cabaret on Broadway.
13:38He returns as the host
13:39of The Traitors.
13:40New episodes of the fourth season
13:42premiere Thursdays on Peacock.
13:43Let's take a look.
13:44The tear-stained pages
13:46of Traitors' history
13:47are filled with the blood
13:49of the innocent
13:49at this table.
13:54And what a triumph
13:56it would be
13:57if you caught a traitor
13:59on the opening page.
14:02Look around you.
14:04Who at the table
14:06has your back?
14:07And who would sooner
14:09stab you in it?
14:11Please welcome back
14:12to the show,
14:13our good friend,
14:13Alan Cumming, everybody!
14:27You know,
14:29I watched that clip
14:30and all I can think is
14:31I wish you were having
14:32more fun doing it.
14:34It's hilarious, isn't it?
14:35It's just that,
14:35I mean, I don't want to say
14:38it's like the part
14:39you were born to play,
14:40but it's certainly one of them.
14:41Yeah, I just laugh.
14:43Well, even now,
14:44they show me
14:44just laughing my head off.
14:46Johnny Weir fell in a loch.
14:47I just fell apart laughing.
14:49Yeah.
14:49And I just love it.
14:51It's such,
14:52because it's like
14:52playing a character.
14:53It's like the biggest,
14:55best combination
14:55of like live theater.
14:58Yes.
14:58Kind of like stand-up almost
14:59because you're having
15:00to improvise,
15:01playing a character,
15:02being theatrical,
15:03and also it's on TV.
15:04It's like a benevolent malevolence.
15:07You know what I mean?
15:08Like there's like a,
15:09you're like a playful villain.
15:11Yeah, it's kind of like
15:12one of the contestants
15:13called me Castle Daddy.
15:14Oh, yeah.
15:15And I like,
15:17yeah.
15:18That's right.
15:19I wish I,
15:21I wish I'd come up
15:22with that one.
15:22So, it's season four.
15:24Congratulations.
15:25For those who are not
15:26familiar with the premise
15:27of Traitors,
15:28how do you best explain it?
15:30I preface it by saying
15:31it's like psychological torture.
15:32Yeah.
15:33A sort of sociological,
15:35psychological experiment
15:35in which I play this character
15:37of a sort of dandy Scottish laird
15:39who invites all these celebrities
15:42and sort of reality stars
15:45to my castle in the country of Scotland,
15:48the highlands of Scotland,
15:49whereupon I tap three of them
15:50on the shoulders.
15:51And they then are traitors
15:53and they have to murder each night
15:55in a turret.
15:56Not literally, of course.
15:57Nobody actually goes.
15:58And then they all,
16:00everyone has to guess
16:01who the traitors are.
16:01And then they do these missions
16:02to raise money.
16:03And then they, also,
16:05the best bit is when
16:05they're all around the round table
16:06and they have to banish.
16:08And it's just, it's just,
16:10well, my thing for it last year
16:11was it's Lord of the Flies
16:13with Botox.
16:13Yeah.
16:14And I'm like,
16:15bringing these faces up tonight.
16:17Yeah, you really are.
16:17That's like...
16:17But it's just,
16:19it's hilarious.
16:20And I'm just so loving it.
16:22I wonder if they,
16:23one of the reasons
16:24they thought you'd be perfect
16:25is it's so fun to hear
16:26banish in a Scottish accent.
16:29A lot of it.
16:29Banished.
16:30Banished.
16:31I love saying,
16:32I say,
16:34Seth,
16:35you have received
16:35the most votes
16:36and are banished.
16:37Yeah.
16:38Please come forward
16:40to the circle of truth.
16:41I love circle of truth.
16:43I made that up.
16:43Oh, to have a circle of truth?
16:45I mean,
16:45everybody would enjoy
16:46a circle of truth.
16:47I mean,
16:47as long as you're not inside it.
16:48If you can, like,
16:49banish people inside it.
16:50Being in control
16:51of a circle of truth
16:52seems really nice.
16:53I just keep thinking
16:53of circle jerk of truth.
16:55Sorry.
16:55I just,
16:55when you said that.
16:56Sorry.
17:00I love that
17:01we're going to be like,
17:02whoa,
17:02who can blame you?
17:04Who among us
17:05wasn't thinking
17:06the circle jerk of truth?
17:08Hey,
17:09before,
17:09you can't say that.
17:10That'll be cut.
17:11That'll be cut.
17:12You can't say it.
17:13We're leaving it in.
17:13You can say circle jerk.
17:15Well,
17:15you know what we've found
17:16on the show
17:16is we say whatever we want
17:18and it turns out
17:19nobody's paying attention.
17:22Nobody's watching.
17:22No,
17:23no,
17:23no.
17:24Those circle jerks
17:25would love
17:26to watch the show.
17:27Hey,
17:29we mentioned
17:29your wonderful
17:31Scottish accent.
17:31Also,
17:32you know,
17:32Happy New Year.
17:33I think we can still say
17:34we're still in January.
17:35Can you talk to me a lot?
17:36I'm fascinated
17:37by the Scottish
17:37New Year's tradition.
17:39Correct me
17:40if I'm saying
17:40hog-man-y?
17:42Hog-man-y.
17:43Oh,
17:43og-man-y.
17:44Hog-man-y.
17:44Og-man-y.
17:45Yeah.
17:45Yeah,
17:45so that's what
17:46we call New Year's Eve
17:47and it's like,
17:48because for a while
17:49in like,
17:50I think the 18th century,
17:52Christmas was banned
17:53in Scotland
17:53because after the Reformation.
17:55See,
17:55everything gets banished.
17:57Yes,
17:57we love a banishment.
17:58You ban,
17:58you banish.
17:59We love banishment.
18:00And so Christmas was banned
18:02and so sort of
18:03New Year
18:04became the big thing.
18:05And even when Christmas
18:06was allowed again,
18:07we still,
18:08New Year's a much bigger
18:09holiday in Scotland,
18:10actually.
18:11It's like,
18:12because it's sort of,
18:13well,
18:13you know,
18:13two of Scotland's
18:14biggest sort of pastimes
18:16are drinking
18:17and over-sentimentality.
18:18Yeah.
18:18So that's exactly
18:19what he is about.
18:20It's just the perfect
18:21thing for us.
18:22So you do,
18:22like I had a party,
18:24I was here actually,
18:25I was in the Catskills
18:26at my house there,
18:27but I had a,
18:27we had a Hogmanay party
18:28and so there's certain things
18:30that you have to have
18:30a tall,
18:31dark stranger.
18:32Okay.
18:32So one of the people
18:33in your,
18:33at your party,
18:34usually someone's plus one.
18:35Yeah.
18:35Because they're a stranger
18:36and they have to be
18:37sort of tall and dark
18:38and they go outside
18:39and you give them
18:40a bottle of whiskey,
18:41a log or something,
18:42so a whiskey for,
18:43you know,
18:43for drink,
18:44a log for the fire
18:45and a cake or something
18:46for sustenance
18:47and you send them outside
18:49and it was freezing,
18:51it's always freezing,
18:52so they're outside
18:52and they wait
18:53before the bells,
18:53so they're waiting
18:54outside there
18:55so that they can be
18:56your first foot,
18:57the first person
18:57to cross your threshold.
18:58Wow.
18:59Yeah,
18:59so called a first foot
19:00and,
19:01but the thing is,
19:01the bells go and everyone's,
19:02ah, kissing, kissing
19:03and you always forget
19:05the person outside there
19:06so you've probably got,
19:07you know,
19:07icicles hanging
19:08from their nose
19:09and everything.
19:09Are they aware
19:10when they're the plus one
19:11to a party
19:12that they're going to have
19:12to go stand in the cold
19:13with a log?
19:14No,
19:15no,
19:15but they're usually
19:16very keen
19:17because they're like,
19:17I'm going to join in,
19:18you know,
19:18they're very gung-ho.
19:19The next thing,
19:20they're freezing their balls
19:21off outside.
19:21you're just rolling them,
19:22rolling them over to the fire.
19:24And they also do this thing,
19:24you open the front door
19:29because that's fantastic.
19:29It's very sort of like,
19:30sort of,
19:31what's the word,
19:32primal.
19:32Yeah.
19:33And we're very in touch
19:35with the land in Scotland.
19:36Well, it's very good.
19:37One of these days,
19:38maybe you'll invite me
19:39to your Hong-Gaminé.
19:41Hong-Gaminé.
19:41Yeah.
19:43Congratulations.
19:43You won two Emmys
19:44for Traders.
19:45Congratulations.
19:46That's great.
19:48Yeah.
19:49And then,
19:51a little bit more
19:52lifetime achievement,
19:53you just got your star
19:54on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
19:56Congratulations.
19:59Look at me like a
20:02six-kitten starlet
20:03there, lounging.
20:05And you had
20:06your friend and colleague,
20:07Brian Cox.
20:08He came and he spoke
20:09on your behalf.
20:10Yes, on my behalf.
20:11How many years have,
20:12when did you first meet
20:13Brian Cox?
20:14How long?
20:14I met him 40 years ago.
20:16Wow.
20:16He came to see me.
20:17I was just out of drama school
20:19and I was in a play,
20:19Tartuffe, by Moliere.
20:21And I was in that,
20:22in Edinburgh,
20:23and he came to see it.
20:24And yeah,
20:25that was 40 years ago.
20:26That's fantastic.
20:26So I've done a few things.
20:27We just done this movie together.
20:30He directed me in this movie
20:31called Glenrothan.
20:32We play brothers.
20:33Brothers of a Scottish
20:34distillery dynasty.
20:37And that's coming out soon.
20:39And we'd also done
20:41Carpool Karaoke.
20:42Oh, wow.
20:43Together.
20:43You did, yeah,
20:43the Apple version where,
20:45yeah.
20:45Yeah, yes.
20:46And so hilarious
20:47because I got him to sing
20:48Wannabe by the Spice Girls.
20:50Oh, that's good.
20:51Very much against his will.
20:53I think based on Logan Roy,
20:54people,
20:54there's an assumption
20:55that Brian is a gruff man
20:56in person.
20:57How was he as a director?
20:59He was,
21:01there was some swearing.
21:03There was some swearing?
21:04Yeah, yeah.
21:05It was actually
21:05a hilarious moment
21:06where he was having
21:07a sort of,
21:08you know,
21:08kind of argument
21:09with the producer
21:10and because we'd run over
21:11or something
21:11and sort of they were talking
21:12and we were doing
21:13a thing with a band
21:14when we're all sort of,
21:15you know,
21:15playing to a track.
21:17So we're saying,
21:17and we're you,
21:18and we're you,
21:18and we're you.
21:19And then it finished
21:20and we're all like,
21:21ah, ha, ha.
21:21And all we heard
21:22was Brian going,
21:23it is,
21:24oh, I'm going to swear.
21:25Okay, go for it.
21:25It is monstrous.
21:27And we were like,
21:28what was not monstrous?
21:30Why did he say that?
21:31And it was about
21:31the fact that we'd run over
21:32and we didn't have enough time.
21:33He was saying it was monstrous.
21:34Oh, okay.
21:35So then I put that on.
21:36My gift for,
21:37my set gift to everybody
21:39was a tote bag
21:40which said,
21:40this is monstrous.
21:41I don't know.
21:42Very nice gift.
21:43Very thoughtful gift.
21:44That was the saying.
21:44I have more to ask you.
21:47with more Alan
21:49right after this.
22:08Welcome back, everybody.
22:09We're here with Alan Cumming
22:11another time you worked
22:12with Brian Cox,
22:12X-Men.
22:14That's right.
22:14And I forgot that.
22:17And for my money,
22:18XT was still,
22:19I mean,
22:19they're all wonderful.
22:20This is my favorite
22:20of the X-Men movies.
22:21It is a really good film.
22:22It's a great movie.
22:23You have one of my favorite
22:24action sequences
22:25in the film.
22:25Pretty spectacular, yes.
22:27And is there truth
22:28to the fact that you made me
22:30returning to the role?
22:31Yes, I did it.
22:32You already did it.
22:33I'm doing it.
22:34So it comes out at Christmas.
22:35The Avengers,
22:36Doomsday.
22:37Okay.
22:39This is,
22:40you know,
22:41this is the early aughts.
22:43Has the technology
22:45changed to make
22:45the makeup less?
22:47Well, no.
22:48I thought that,
22:50I thought,
22:50oh, you know,
22:51I won't have to wear makeup now.
22:52They'll just put it on.
22:53Yeah, they'll just put
22:54a couple ping pongs on you.
22:55No, I had to wear the whole thing
22:56and contact lenses,
22:58the whole lot.
22:58But it was much shorter
22:59because the thing was
23:00with the,
23:02all these tattoos
23:02were painted on by hand
23:04because they hadn't decided
23:04on them until like
23:05the day before
23:06so they didn't have it.
23:07So now they had,
23:07you know,
23:08stencils and things.
23:09Okay, gotcha.
23:10It was like an hour and a half
23:11to two hours
23:12rather than five hours.
23:13Was it fun to return to it?
23:15It was actually.
23:16I sort of,
23:18it was very,
23:19you know,
23:19I never thought
23:20it was going to happen
23:21and it was actually
23:21nice to go back to it
23:22and sort of sense of closure
23:24and things like that.
23:26Oh my God.
23:27So that's closure.
23:29So this is,
23:29I guess,
23:30whatever the opposite.
23:31This is the opening.
23:32This is your early days.
23:33This is very early.
23:34So this is Victor and Barry.
23:35Yes.
23:36We dug this up.
23:37Tell us about,
23:38tell us about Victor and Barry
23:40and what they were doing.
23:41This is my friend Forbes.
23:42We were at drama school together.
23:44And we made up these characters
23:45for a college cabaret.
23:47They're called Victor and Barry.
23:48They're founder members
23:49of the Kelvinside Young People's
23:50Amateur Dramatic Arts Society.
23:52Yeah.
23:52And they were like
23:52these sort of surreal characters
23:54who ran an amateur musical company
23:56in a posh area of Glasgow.
23:58And they just sang songs
23:59and were stupid.
24:00And they were just,
24:01and we made them,
24:01it was sort of a skit.
24:02You know when you like
24:03make something up
24:03and it's just,
24:05you're just a bit stoned
24:06and you just have a funny idea.
24:07And then very,
24:09a couple of years later
24:10when we left drama school,
24:11everyone's,
24:11we had our own TV show.
24:13Really?
24:13Yeah,
24:14our own radio thing.
24:15We did tours.
24:15Went to London and Australia.
24:17Yeah,
24:17and like the sort of mid 80s
24:19or late to late 80s.
24:21They were huge.
24:22It was overwhelming actually.
24:23And we were just,
24:24you know,
24:24in that picture
24:25I'm probably like 22 years old.
24:26And so when you were out
24:27in the streets in Glasgow,
24:29people,
24:29you were like
24:30screaming Victor and Barry?
24:31Totally.
24:32Oh wow.
24:32And then like Victor and Barry,
24:35we stopped them
24:35and then the next thing we did
24:37was a sitcom called
24:39The High Life
24:40about flight attendants.
24:41Yeah,
24:41we have a photo
24:42of The High Life as well.
24:43Yeah.
24:44So this was,
24:45this was your,
24:46this was a sitcom.
24:47Yes,
24:48fake tan
24:48and a lot of backcombing there.
24:50This was a sitcom
24:51on BBC Two.
24:52Oh,
24:53this,
24:53and so we did that
24:54and that,
24:55The High Life,
24:55it was so popular
24:56and we only did six episodes
24:58and it was bonkers.
24:59And also it was like,
25:01so we did it in,
25:01made it with BBC London,
25:03but because they didn't really know
25:05a lot of the things we were saying,
25:06we did some very rude Scottish things.
25:08Okay.
25:09So we got away with,
25:09so people in Scotland
25:10would be like,
25:11gone yourself.
25:12And so it's that,
25:13of all the things
25:14I've ever done in my life,
25:15that is,
25:15when I go to Scotland,
25:16that's the thing
25:16that people always mention.
25:17Really?
25:18After your entire career,
25:19they still want to talk
25:19about The High Life?
25:20And now we're doing,
25:21in about a month,
25:22I start rehearsals.
25:2330 years after we did it,
25:24we've written a musical
25:25of The High Life
25:26and the original cast
25:27are all in it.
25:28We're all still alive.
25:29Yeah.
25:29And so,
25:30and like,
25:31I assume,
25:33I assume you were,
25:34you were behind the idea
25:35of like,
25:36doing it again.
25:37Like,
25:37were they so thrilled
25:37when the phone rang
25:38and you were like,
25:39you're not going to believe this,
25:40but we're going to do this.
25:40Well,
25:41it was the National Theatre of Scotland.
25:42They'd asked us for like,
25:43years.
25:44Right.
25:44We never got our act together.
25:46And then finally,
25:46there's a really great writer
25:48in Scotland called Johnny McKnight,
25:49and we brought him on
25:50as the catalyst.
25:51And he's,
25:51and he's brilliant.
25:52And he's,
25:53if,
25:53you know,
25:53if Victor and Barry
25:54and the High Life people
25:55had a baby,
25:56it would be Johnny.
25:57And so,
25:58this is the perfect sort of fusion.
25:59That's so exciting.
26:00And now,
26:01you have a director capacity
26:02for the National Theatre,
26:03correct?
26:03No,
26:04no,
26:04for the Lockley Festival Theatre.
26:05Okay,
26:05for the Lockley Festival Theatre.
26:07So,
26:07this is,
26:08you are now a theatre director,
26:09a theatre festival director.
26:10This,
26:10yeah,
26:11I run the theatre,
26:12I'm the artistic director
26:12for the theatre.
26:13So,
26:13this is,
26:13this starts this weekend.
26:15I'm going to,
26:15right now,
26:16after,
26:16I'm literally leaving,
26:17leaving this chair
26:18and going on a plane
26:19to the Lockley.
26:20And this is,
26:20out in the hills,
26:21it's the first thing I've programmed.
26:22It's an LGBT festival.
26:24That's fantastic.
26:24And it starts on Friday.
26:26All right.
26:29We're going straight from here.
26:31Will you go right to sleep
26:32on the plane?
26:33On a red-eye?
26:35I'm assuming you're going
26:36to Scotland?
26:36Are you flying direct?
26:37Flying to Edinburgh.
26:38Yeah.
26:38No,
26:39I mean,
26:39here's the thing.
26:40Normally,
26:41I would have a couple of drinks
26:42and just knock myself out.
26:43Yeah.
26:43I'm not drinking.
26:44I'm having a little dry gin.
26:45Oh,
26:46okay.
26:46So,
26:47I don't know.
26:47Look at their shot.
26:48I know.
26:50Everybody's like,
26:51what's wrong?
26:51What's wrong with you,
26:52Alan?
26:52Are you okay?
26:53Are there medical reasons?
26:55That's why I want to keep saying.
26:56No,
26:56I've just decided to,
26:57you know,
26:58once in a while,
26:59I'll do it.
27:00But no,
27:01I might take
27:02half a sleeping pill.
27:03Okay.
27:03Because it's only six.
27:05That's the problem with it.
27:06It's not long enough.
27:06You don't want to be zonked
27:07getting up.
27:08And I've got to rehearse
27:08tomorrow morning
27:09in Scotland.
27:10Have you ever
27:12watched a movie
27:13on a plane
27:13that you're in?
27:14Yes.
27:15Yeah.
27:16Yes, I have.
27:16Do you feel like
27:17you've ever been observed
27:18by other people
27:19on the plane
27:19watching yourself
27:20on a movie?
27:21Have you got a photo
27:21of that or something?
27:22No, I don't.
27:22I don't.
27:24I mean,
27:26it's sort of awful,
27:27like,
27:27you know,
27:28if you think
27:28that people might see you,
27:30you just hope
27:30they're all asleep.
27:31But I hope not.
27:32I mean,
27:32I probably have,
27:33but I mean,
27:34certainly people
27:34have sort of
27:35come up and
27:36tapped me,
27:37like saying,
27:38yeah.
27:38And I let,
27:39I remember once
27:40I was going to
27:40Mauritius,
27:41and so they speak
27:42French there,
27:43and there was a thing
27:44where it had the film
27:44in English
27:45and the film
27:45in French.
27:47And actually,
27:47it was Black Beauty
27:48where I narrate the horse.
27:49Yeah.
27:50So I could go
27:50between the thing,
27:51between the two films,
27:52and hear myself
27:52talking like this,
27:53and then,
27:53it was so surreal.
27:57Like someone
27:59impersonating me
27:59in another language.
28:01Yeah.
28:01That's where you really
28:01hope you didn't just
28:02take the sleeping pill
28:03or else you're like,
28:04what's,
28:04I'm losing my mind.
28:06You've heard
28:06all the stories
28:07of people taking
28:08sleeping pills
28:08and ending up
28:09with like champagne
28:10bottles and potato
28:12chip wrappers
28:12all over.
28:13Yeah.
28:14I am very scared
28:14of that.
28:15Well,
28:15I think you'll be okay.
28:16Yeah,
28:17and also,
28:17you're a national treasure.
28:18I'm a national treasure.
28:19They'll just bundle me
28:21in a sack
28:22and take me off.
28:23Congrats on another season
28:24of the Traders.
28:24Congrats on everything.
28:25Thanks for being back.

28:51is a talented actress
28:52you know from shows

28:56Varsity Blues,
28:57and the Resident Evil franchise.
28:59You can see her next
29:00in the season finale
29:01of Landman,
29:02which streams this Sunday,
29:03January 18th

29:05Let's take a look.
29:06What you doing?
29:07Pulling into Dallas.
29:08I got a lunch meeting.
29:10Yeah?
29:10Yeah, a lunch meeting
29:11or a job interview?
29:14Sweetheart,
29:14when I say today's not the day,
29:16I really mean it.
29:17All right?
29:17You got fired
29:18and you didn't tell me.
29:19Well, number one,
29:20I got fired on a riverbank
29:21while you were playing
29:22Den Mother
29:22to a cheerleading squad.
29:24Number two,
29:25I don't talk about problems
29:26so I have solutions.
29:27So when I find a solution,
29:29you and I will discuss
29:29the solution
29:30and see if the problem solves.
29:31Is that okay?
29:34Honey, it's not 2008.
29:37I ain't trying to drink
29:38my problems away.
29:40I'm going to solve this.
29:42I'm going to solve it
29:42for you and for me
29:43and for the kids.
29:46You know, I've done
29:47a lot of things
29:47in my life, I know,
29:49but...
29:50I've never broken my word
29:52so I'll give you my word.
29:55We're all going to be
29:56better off for this.
29:57So can you believe in that?
29:59Can I give you my word
30:00and you'll believe it?
30:03Believing in you
30:04is the one thing
30:05that I have no trouble doing.
30:07Well, I can think of
30:07a few more, honey,
30:08but we'll talk about that later.
30:11I love you.
30:12All right, I love you too, sweetheart.
30:15Please welcome back
30:16to the show
30:16my very good friend
30:17Allie Larder, everybody.
30:30Allie Larder, everybody.
30:34Hello, friend.
30:35How are you?
30:36I'm so well.
30:37I am so happy
30:38because the last time
30:39you were here,
30:40it was right before
30:40season one of this show
30:42premiered.
30:42And I don't think,
30:43I mean, obviously,
30:45you were very proud of it,
30:46but you could not have imagined
30:48what this show has become.
30:50It is just nuts.
30:50No, but you were the first one
30:51to believe in me and the show,
30:53the very first,
30:54and then, like,
30:54the rest of the world
30:55caught on.
30:56You were number one,
30:57so thank you.
30:58But I should say,
30:59I am such a,
31:01look, we're old friends.
31:02We know each other very well.
31:03I was lucky enough
31:04to be at your wedding.
31:05Even if you were
31:05in something super
31:06I would have you on the show.
31:08I've been in some
31:09once and you've had me on,
31:11so thank you.
31:13Thank you for being
31:14in a good one.
31:15Oh, my God.
31:17I know, exactly.
31:18Thank God for that.
31:19I'm so excited.
31:20I mean, it's so great.
31:21And, you know,
31:22the season two premiered
31:23over nine million people
31:24watched it in two days.
31:25Yeah.
31:26Obviously, you're all aware
31:27now that it's a runaway hit,
31:29but how different
31:30is it on the streets?
31:31I mean, you must get approached
31:32all the time about the show.
31:33Well, you know,
31:33we live in a small town
31:34in Idaho now,
31:35so everyone's kind of
31:35blasé about me.
31:36It's no big deal.
31:38But it's my daughter's
31:3911th birthday, Vivian,
31:40this week,
31:40and so I brought her
31:41on this trip.
31:41As all working moms do,
31:42you just have to do it all.
31:44And we get to the hotel,
31:45and there's a ton of paparazzi
31:46taking pictures,
31:47and she's like,
31:47who's here?
31:48Who's here?
31:49And it was like,
31:50oh, she's kind of
31:52going to realize
31:52what I do for a living now.
31:54By the way,
31:54it's what a bummer
31:55for an 11-year-old girl
31:57in New York City
31:57to find out, like,
31:58oh, you're here?
32:01Such a disappointment for her.
32:03Yeah.
32:04Totally.
32:05But has there been anyone,
32:06have you gotten recognized
32:07by anybody in the city
32:09that maybe is, like,
32:10exciting to...
32:11Yes.
32:11I mean, well, look,
32:12this is my favorite city
32:12in the world.
32:13You know, I'm from Jersey,
32:14and being back here
32:14is the best city
32:15in New York City.
32:16I love it.
32:18And one of my favorite
32:19restaurants is that
32:20very chic polo lounge.
32:21Yeah, very hard.
32:22Very hard to get a table.
32:23Very hard.
32:23Best food, great martinis,
32:25and we decided to take
32:26the girls there
32:26for this birthday dinner,
32:27and so we're there
32:28on Monday night,
32:29and it's probably, like,
32:308.39,
32:31and there's, like, a beat.
32:32There's a vibe happening,
32:32and this woman across the room
32:34catches my eye,
32:35and she has kind of, like,
32:36this twinkle,
32:37and she's looking at me,
32:38and I'm clocking her,
32:39and Martha Stewart
32:41starts walking
32:42straight at me, okay?
32:44And I'm going,
32:45oh, my gosh,
32:45is that Martha?
32:46She comes up to the table
32:47in this huge white fur,
32:49like this bulge,
32:50like a lioness,
32:51and she looks at me
32:52and she goes,
32:53I wait until 12.01
32:55every Sunday
32:56to watch your show.
32:57Oh.
32:58And then she looks
32:59at Vivian,
32:59and she goes,
33:00your mother is a badass.
33:02Oh.
33:02And we were just, like,
33:04all enamored,
33:05like, in this surreal moment
33:06of Martha Stewart,
33:07who I love.
33:08Who's, like, the queen,
33:09the icon,
33:09and she's a Landman fan.
33:11I mean,
33:12I'll take it.
33:12It's great.
33:13And, again,
33:13anytime you can get praised
33:15in front of your children,
33:16like, that's what you live for.
33:16It's actually the truth.
33:18And then she walked away,
33:19and I'm sure your daughter
33:20was like,
33:20did you pay that woman?
33:22Who is that woman?
33:23Who is that woman,
33:23and did you pay her?
33:24Right, yeah.
33:24I know,
33:25Martha Stewart icon,
33:26but I would imagine
33:26a lot of 11-year-old girls
33:28are like,
33:28who's that?
33:28Yes, 100%.
33:31You guys,
33:32obviously,
33:32shoot in Texas,
33:33the Fort Worth area.
33:34You shot on campus
33:36at TCU,
33:36a giant school.
33:37We did.
33:38We did.
33:38I think one of the things
33:39that makes the show
33:40really special and authentic
33:41is that Taylor uses,
33:43like,
33:43the day players
33:44are real college students
33:45at TCU.
33:46And when you're shooting
33:47on the oil rigs,
33:48he goes out,
33:49and he has the real men
33:50that run these rigs.
33:51So you can feel
33:51just a level of authenticity
33:53that you don't always get.
33:54Yeah.
33:55And it was great.
33:56I mean,
33:56TCU's so welcoming,
33:57and I love also,
33:59like,
33:59Texas is almost like,
34:00you know,
34:01a character in our show.
34:02I mean,
34:02the heat's part of it.
34:03We're always hot.
34:04We're just, like,
34:05in it,
34:05and we get to shoot
34:06where it's real.
34:07It's definitely, yeah,
34:07it's not a controlled set.
34:09Yes.
34:09You're shooting in Texas,
34:10and I think one of the things
34:11about a lot of Taylor
34:13shared in shows,
34:14and I think one of the reasons
34:15people are so drawn to him
34:15is, like,
34:16you know,
34:16some of the most incredible
34:18backdrops,
34:19you know,
34:19you're shooting on,
34:20you know,
34:21everything Texas has to offer,
34:22but are there difficulties?
34:23I mean,
34:23you talked about the heat.
34:24Are there things
34:25that ever go wrong?
34:25So,
34:25we had a scene this season
34:27where it was like,
34:28it's the end of the day.
34:29You know,
34:29we have a huge crew.
34:30It's high pressure,
34:31and we are, like,
34:31rushing to get this shot.
34:32And it's supposed to be
34:33one of those epic Texas sunsets
34:35where the egg drops.
34:36So, it's like,
34:37I'm standing there
34:37in this wide open field,
34:39barefoot jean shorts,
34:40and they're rushing,
34:41rushing, rushing,
34:41and I hear action.
34:42And I'm standing there,
34:43and I'm looking out
34:44at the horses,
34:45and all of a sudden,
34:45I feel something
34:47crawling between my toes.
34:49And I look down,
34:50and there are fire ants
34:52biting my toes.
34:53But then I feel Billy
34:55coming up behind me,
34:56and I'm like,
34:57I just have to live through this.
34:58So, I lean to him,
34:59and I go into the scene,
35:00and I do the scene with him.
35:02And all of a sudden,
35:03I hear cut,
35:03and Stephen K.,
35:04our director,
35:05runs up,
35:05and he's like,
35:06Ali, you were so emotional.
35:07You were so connected.
35:08And I'm like,
35:09I'm crying,
35:10because I was getting
35:11bit by fire ants.
35:13And I was scared
35:14they were going to yell at me,
35:15because they weren't
35:16going to get the shot.
35:17Oh, my God.
35:18The bummer now is,
35:19like, anytime you're
35:20doing a scene
35:21where they feel like
35:21you're not reaching
35:22that peak,
35:23they're going to be like,
35:23get the ants.
35:25Get the ants.
35:26Bring the ants in.
35:27I mean, it's crazy.
35:28I had welts on my feet.
35:29I mean,
35:29this show takes a toll
35:30on this bod.
35:31I mean,
35:32I will say,
35:32like, you know,
35:33again,
35:34these are rough-and-tumble
35:36characters.
35:37I like the authenticity
35:38there.
35:39Angela,
35:40one of the funniest
35:40things about this show
35:41is the theme parties
35:42that your character hosts.
35:43Oh, thank you.
35:44And there's a really
35:45great scene
35:45at a pirate theme party.
35:47Yeah.
35:47And is it fun
35:48to actually,
35:49I mean,
35:49I would imagine,
35:50like,
35:50anytime you get
35:50to dress up
35:51like a pirate
35:51and not actually
35:52be in a pirate show,
35:53that feels like.
35:53It's definitely fun.
35:54More fun to see
35:55everyone else
35:55in the pirate outfits.
35:57You know,
35:57our cast is so incredible
35:59and having Sam Elliott
36:00join is just like,
36:02we have legends.
36:03Yeah.
36:03You know,
36:03it's like,
36:04it's a bunch of these
36:04rebellious actors
36:05that have kind of
36:06done it their way
36:07and to be able
36:08to work against them
36:09is just incredible.
36:11When we were
36:12shooting that scene,
36:13it was actually
36:13a couple episodes
36:14before that was
36:15Sam's first day
36:15when we got to meet him
36:16and he was sitting outside.
36:18He doesn't even want
36:19a director's chair.
36:20He sits on an Apple box.
36:21He comes first thing
36:22in the morning,
36:23whether he's working
36:23or not.
36:24He just wants to be there
36:25and be part of it
36:26and he's so kind
36:27to the crew.
36:28So he's kind of
36:28sitting there looking out
36:29and I just sat
36:30right on the arm
36:31of his chair
36:31and just started chatting
36:32and he connected with me
36:33and was so open
36:35and just like
36:35the icon legend
36:36that he is.
36:37He just brings
36:38so much soul
36:39to our show.
36:40It's amazing.
36:40I mean,
36:40to have,
36:41to begin with,
36:42you know,
36:42to start with Billy Bob
36:43and then add Sam Elliott,
36:44it is,
36:45it's really,
36:45truly something.
36:46Yeah,
36:46and like,
36:47you know,
36:47sometimes people make fun,
36:48like on the show,
36:49like Billy's always writing,
36:51Angela,
36:51like literally,
36:52but kind of.
36:56It is one of the appeals.
36:58It is one of the appeals.
37:00Sometimes the characters
37:01in the show
37:02aren't super kind,
37:03like Jacob to Ainsley
37:04and all that
37:04and Sam Elliott's character
37:06comes in TL
37:07and he's so sweet to us
37:09and he kind of
37:10sees the joy
37:10that Angela and Ainsley bring
37:12and my character,
37:14you know,
37:14spends so much time
37:14in the old folks' home.
37:16It's like giving her
37:16this awakening,
37:17you know,
37:18of like this purpose in life
37:19and it's family first for her
37:21so she moves him
37:22into the house
37:23and you kind of see her worth
37:25to the family this season.
37:26That's fantastic.
37:27You,
37:28you've got a 15-year-old
37:29and an 11-year-old.
37:30I do.
37:30They're now,
37:31I mean,
37:31that's getting to the age
37:32where there's certainly
37:33some of your work
37:34that you can show them.
37:35I mean,
37:35have they watched
37:36Legally Blonde?
37:36I mean,
37:37what are they watching?
37:38I mean,
37:38yeah,
37:38I think Vivian watched
37:39Legally Blonde,
37:40Teddy watched it years ago.
37:41I mean,
37:42he really has no interest.
37:43Yeah.
37:43They're my kids,
37:44like,
37:44I mean,
37:45parents know it.
37:46Like the most humbling thing
37:47you can have as a child.
37:47Right.
37:48It truly is.
37:49It truly is.
37:50I do have a fear
37:51about your 15-year-old son
37:52because,
37:53like,
37:53sports fan,
37:54right?
37:54Yes.
37:54At some point,
37:55right,
37:56like,
37:56they start going
37:56through sports movies
37:57and, like,
37:58Varsity Blues comes up.
37:59Oh, my God.
38:00And, you know...
38:01I thought you were
38:01going to say
38:01he's not a Bears fan
38:02because my husband's,
38:03like,
38:03after him for not being
38:04a Chicago...
38:05Is he not a Bears fan?
38:06and my husband's,
38:07like,
38:07ready to kill him.
38:08Who does he work for?
38:09Is he Rams?
38:10Whoever he wants.
38:10Oh, my God.
38:11I mean,
38:12not even the Eagles
38:12for my dad.
38:13The kid is, like,
38:14a contrarian.
38:14He's his own guy.
38:15He's his own guy.
38:16But, you know,
38:16Varsity Blues,
38:17fantastic movie.
38:18One of the best movies
38:18of the 90s.
38:19Super rewatchable.
38:20You're in Varsity Blues
38:21in a way that might be,
38:23you know...
38:23Oh, my God.
38:24I mean,
38:25it's still...
38:25I have scarred my husband.
38:27I have scarred my dad.
38:27I have scarred my son.
38:29Yeah.
38:29It's not easy.
38:30Yeah.
38:31But hopefully,
38:32the rest of the world
38:32likes it.
38:34I can attest...
38:35Fortunately,
38:36enough time has passed
38:36that I can tell you
38:37that they did.
38:38Okay.
38:40Okay.
38:40But, you know,
38:42outside.
38:43Absolutely.
38:43I mean,
38:44that's what it's all about,
38:44is being vulnerable.
38:46Congratulations on everything.
38:47It's so fantastic.
38:48Are you...
38:48I mean, again,
38:49I know your husband,
38:50Hayes MacArthur,
38:51very well.
38:51There is a big Bears game
38:52this weekend.
38:53Yes.
38:54Are you supportive
38:55of the timing?
38:56I am.
38:56So, you know,
38:56we live in the cold,
38:57and he sat outside,
38:59you know,
38:59smoking cigars,
39:00watching it.
39:00My son was actually
39:01very involved.
39:01The last Bears game
39:02was extraordinary.
39:03Yeah, all-timer.
39:03So, he was just, like,
39:04panicked and excited
39:05and screaming.
39:06Why did he have to be outside?
39:07He wanted it to feel
39:08like he was in Chicago.
39:10Oh!
39:10So, he put on jackets
39:11and put the TV on outside
39:13and blankets.
39:13I forget he's insane.
39:17That's so funny.
39:18Right there.
39:18Did he really
39:19want to make it cold enough?
39:20Yes!
39:21He wanted to feel
39:21like he was there,
39:22so they just froze,
39:23so I couldn't watch
39:24the game with him.
39:24Oh, my God.
39:25I was not going
39:25through that pain.
39:26That's fantastic.
39:27I love him so much.
39:29I mean,
39:29I wouldn't have married him,
39:30but...
