00:00.
00:30And welcome again to the big match.
00:32And among today's three First Division games,
00:34we have a penalty with an air of controversy to it.
00:36A goal in injury time and a goalkeeper being booked
00:39for an incident outside his penalty area.
00:41Well, we've got plenty more besides, of course.
00:43We line up like this today.
00:44Main match, Arsenal against Leeds.
00:47...Graham with his head and Hunter away.
00:49Simpson with his head.
00:50And Kennedy with his, Radford.
00:53Oh, bad luck, Radford.
00:55What a tremendous shot on the turn.
00:57Supported by Sheffield United against Spurs.
01:02A good ball to Perryman.
01:04The angle's tight.
01:05My word, that was pretty close.
01:07And Wolves against Everton.
01:11A little too long.
01:14So, a lot of good stuff coming your way today.
01:16Also on the programme, we have the great, the legendary,
01:19Ferenc Puskas, formerly of Hungary and Real Madrid.
01:22Yesterday, Ferenc, in on the ball,
01:24took ten penalties against Gordon Banks.
01:26He scored with six.
01:27Just look still at those magical skills
01:29of 44-year-old Puskas.
01:31He does something else today
01:32that we thought might interest you as well.
01:34But now let's get on with the action
01:36and we pick up what really was
01:37the outstanding game of the day.
01:39Arsenal, of course, against Leeds United.
01:41A match, of course, that really means so much
01:43towards the top of the table.
01:44And Arsenal, led out as ever
01:46by their Scottish skipper, Frank McClintock.
01:48And indeed, there's been a mild reshuffle
01:50of the Arsenal side.
01:51Eddie Kelly is dropped to substitute.
01:53And Peter Simpson comes back
01:54into the number eight shirt.
01:56Arsenal, of course, knowing full well
01:58that it's going to be quite a battle
01:59against a Leeds side
02:01that really has started well this season.
02:03But a man who's making some impact
02:04in the Arsenal side these days
02:06and really has established himself
02:07in the back four,
02:08John Roberts, the Welsh international.
02:10Leeds United, this is their first visit
02:12to London this season,
02:13led out also by a Scottish skipper,
02:15Billy Bremner.
02:16And now, without four internationals,
02:18goalkeeper Gary Sprake,
02:19full-back Terry Cooper,
02:20and forwards Mick Jones and Eddie Gray.
02:23These really are crippling blows to any side.
02:25Terry Yorath now comes into the back four.
02:27Rod Belfitt gets a chance into the attack.
02:30But Leeds, in spite of these injuries,
02:32of course, as everybody knows,
02:33still a side full of power, strength,
02:35and know-how.
02:37Always very, very difficult to beat.
02:39But a man in the Leeds side today,
02:41getting one of those rare chances in goal,
02:42is 23-year-old David Harvey,
02:44who in fact wants to move from Leeds
02:46because his chances are so few and far between.
02:48Referee today, Derek Nippard of Bournemouth.
02:51There can't be many taller men than him in the game,
02:53and certainly there were no bigger crowds
02:54anywhere in England.
02:5551,000 waiting for the start.
02:58So the champions take on the runners-up,
03:00and Arsenal defending the goal to our right
03:02get us away with their red shirts
03:04with white sleeves.
03:05Leeds all in white, of course.
03:11Terry Yorath
03:13into the side because Terry Cooper is injured.
03:18Giles to Clarke,
03:20and now to Brembo.
03:24And McNabb and Reney
03:27going in hard for the same ball,
03:31and a throw now to the Arsenal.
03:36Leeds have something of a jinx on this Arsenal side.
03:38In fact, Arsenal have beaten Leeds
03:39only once in their last 17 meetings,
03:41and here's Bob Wilson,
03:43Belly Bremner waiting for it.
03:47Radford to Rice.
03:53Leeds who have yet to play a game at Ellen Road,
03:55and yet their form has been very impressive indeed.
03:58Lying second in the table,
04:00and unbeaten in their last five games.
04:04Arsenal a more faltering start,
04:05but they got themselves out of trouble
04:06with a win at West Bromwich last week, of course.
04:08And here's George Gray.
04:11Giles.
04:17To Lorimer.
04:20Reney making a run down the right for him.
04:22That's aimed towards Alan Clarke,
04:24and falling for Bob Wilson.
04:31Radford.
04:33Kennedy.
04:34Great power in young Kennedy.
04:36All that a striker needs.
04:38And McNabb has gone running forward for this one.
04:40Look for it from Graham.
04:41Radford now to hit it.
04:42Oh, my goodness, it hit the crossbar.
04:47And Harvey knew absolutely nothing about it.
04:50He was a good six yards out of his goal.
04:53As it went floating back over his head.
04:57Well, he can smile now.
05:03What a terrible mistake that would have been.
05:06From John Radford.
05:12Graham.
05:13Kennedy.
05:15McNabb.
05:16So little space there,
05:17but Arsenal made good use of it
05:18as Radford takes it up,
05:19and he's got Story sturging up alongside him.
05:23Radford with a shot.
05:26But blocked by Joroff.
05:28And Hunter.
05:30Bremner.
05:33Madeleine.
05:35To Giles.
05:41Lorimer.
05:44And at least, at last rather,
05:46a Rene run down.
05:47The right has been rewarded with the ball.
05:48Now it's with Giles.
05:49Rene going on again.
05:51Four leads United.
05:54Madeleine.
05:55Lorimer to hammer one.
05:56And down goes Wilson,
05:57and he does well.
06:02Even that wasn't vintage Lorimer,
06:03but it got the best out of Bob Wilson.
06:07Radford winning that nicely in the air.
06:09The flick-off for Kennedy.
06:10And Story now.
06:12And Armstrong has gone darting in on the far post.
06:14Radford is also in there.
06:16And Radford trying one on the turn,
06:18and down goes Harvey.
06:32Roberts.
06:33Story.
06:35While the managers probably suffer
06:37down-side ball than the fans do.
06:40But Donner-Rivi certainly appeared to be
06:42suffering a moment ago.
06:43Now it's Lorimer.
06:44Giles to take it up for him.
06:48Belfit.
06:51Madeleine.
06:53Hunter.
06:56And Billy Brembo.
07:01Giles.
07:06Madeleine.
07:06That must be something like 12 or 13 passes.
07:08They've made no headway at all.
07:11Hunter.
07:12Yorath.
07:13And where's it all going to end?
07:15Lorimer.
07:16Well, there it's ended now with Simpson
07:18to Radford.
07:21Kennedy.
07:22Simpson again.
07:25To McNair.
07:31Armstrong.
07:33And he also was conscious that
07:34really was close behind him
07:35and knew he had to do anything.
07:37He had to do it quickly.
07:38And getting himself into trouble there.
07:40And it's Belfit to take it up
07:42and he's got Madeleine
07:43sneaking down the right for him.
07:45Clark going in the middle
07:45across that Arsenal goal again.
07:47And once more
07:48Bob Wilson was equal to it.
07:52But a good swift break
07:53and Madeleine played his part in it.
07:56And they're not
07:56very cool indeed.
08:03Simpson
08:05beating Bremner.
08:08Going on and on
08:09and a shot.
08:11Well, a Peter Simpson special.
08:13We've seen him
08:14over the last couple of seasons
08:15quite often come forward
08:16and do that.
08:17And there always seems to be
08:18a deceptive amount of pace
08:19in his shots.
08:30So Harvey with a goal kick.
08:38And McClintock I think
08:40penalised for calling there.
08:48Giles
08:49and Roberts
08:50to the rescue again
08:51for Arsenal.
08:52Armstrong
08:54Story
08:59Kennedy
09:00to turn it for Radford.
09:02George Graham
09:03with Rene slipping
09:04at a crucial moment
09:05and turned on nicely
09:05for Kennedy now
09:06for Simpson again.
09:11One of the best
09:12Arsenal move of the match
09:14and Simpson
09:15caught it well
09:16but it was a couple
09:17of yards wide.
09:21A nice flowing move
09:22that left Simpson
09:23in the clear.
09:27And Leeds
09:28for the first time
09:29really extended.
09:30Here's David Harvey
09:31then.
09:34Derek Nifard
09:35the referee
09:36from Bournemouth.
09:44Well that may give
09:45Arsenal a bit of heart
09:46certainly there's been
09:47a lack of rhythm
09:48about their play
09:48as indeed there was
09:49in that League Cup tie
09:50against Barnsley
09:51and here's George Armstrong
09:52Kennedy going
09:53for too high
09:54Graham straining
09:55to get to it
09:56Jack Charlton
09:57coming out to challenge him
09:58and a corner.
10:07Roberts again
10:08has gone up
10:09for it.
10:15There he is.
10:17McClintock also coming up
10:18to join him now.
10:18Armstrong's corner
10:19and Roberts trying
10:20to get in on there.
10:21Harvey grabbing it
10:22at the second goal.
10:33But now Hunter.
10:36Clark.
10:38And I think a foul
10:40by McClintock.
10:44Linesman furiously
10:45flagging
10:46and referee
10:47in agreement
10:48Clark inspecting
10:49the damage
10:50and Leeds now
10:51preparing for the
10:51free kick.
10:55Yes there's the mark
10:57Giles to float it
10:58Yorath has made
10:59a burst into the middle
11:01Bradford coming
11:02back with him
11:03and Belfit
11:04trying to get to it
11:04and Maidlis header
11:08but a foul
11:08by Belfit.
11:19Just under
11:20a quarter of an hour
11:20to go to half time
11:21and still no score.
11:22Bob Wilson
11:22with the free kick
11:23for Arsenal.
11:27Yes a push
11:28by Hunter
11:28on Radford
11:30and right in front
11:31of the referee.
11:32Arsenal's free kick
11:41and Arsenal really
11:42have sprung
11:42a lot of men
11:43forward now
11:44everybody now
11:45ahead of McClintock
11:46as he takes
11:46this free kick.
11:48George Graham
11:48is amongst them
11:49Graham with his head
11:50and Hunter away
11:51Simpson with his head
11:52and Kennedy
11:53with his
11:54Radford.
11:55Oh bad luck
11:56Radford
11:57what a tremendous
11:58shot on the turn
11:59against the post.
12:01What a tremendous
12:03shot by Radford.
12:03having none of the
12:05luck.
12:05He's hit the crossbar
12:06and now he's
12:07hit the post.
12:13But how significant
12:15too how almost
12:16to the signal
12:16every Arsenal player
12:18came forward.
12:20And proof I suppose
12:21that if you do plunge
12:22enough men forward
12:23you more than likely
12:24will find yourself
12:25a chance.
12:27Giles
12:29Rini
12:32Lorimer
12:34Lorimer
12:39Lorimer getting tangled
12:40up with McNabb
12:41and now Rini
12:42played carefully
12:43to Madeley
12:44Bremner
12:45trying to lay it
12:45off for Childern
12:48and Charlton
12:49and Story
12:50in collision
12:50is really
12:51some collision.
12:58But a crowd
12:59really have found
12:59their voice
13:00a slip by Hunter
13:00to Kennedy now.
13:02Radford
13:02going past
13:03Jorath
13:04and into the
13:05side netting.
13:13Showing little
13:14emotion
13:15John Radford
13:15but having
13:16absolutely none
13:17some of the luck.
13:25Well the crowd
13:26really beginning
13:27to warm up as well.
13:31And a big crowd
13:33it is.
13:41Rini
13:43Belfit
13:46Bremner
13:49Lorimer
13:49arms in the air
13:50calling for it
13:51but Madeley
13:52instead.
13:56Simpson
13:59Rice
14:01three leads
14:02defenders
14:03against two
14:03Arsenal
14:03attackers though.
14:05Kennedy
14:05following it up
14:06quickly
14:06and George
14:07Graham in there
14:08a lovely one
14:09too with Armstrong
14:09Graham again
14:10and a goal
14:11George Graham
14:12through the legs
14:14of Harvey
14:15but a magnificent
14:16one-two
14:17a magnificent
14:19one-two
14:19by Arsenal
14:24a one-two
14:25there with
14:25Kennedy playing
14:26his part
14:27Armstrong taking it
14:28on and Graham
14:29eventually finishing
14:30it off
14:31between the legs
14:32and the legs of
14:33David Harvey
14:37so ten minutes
14:38to go to
14:38half-time
14:39and Arsenal
14:40go into the
14:40league
14:42the scorer
14:43George Graham
14:44his first goal
14:45of the season
14:52and there really
14:53can really have been
14:54a more classic
14:55example of a
14:55one-two
14:56than that
15:02Armstrong
15:06and Charlton
15:07craning that
15:07neck
15:08and getting
15:09ahead of
15:09Kennedy
15:09but McNabb
15:11Graham
15:12and McClintock
15:13going up the
15:14ride as though
15:14his life
15:15depended on it
15:16and Burdenshaw
15:18calmly directing
15:19the traffic
15:21Steve Burdenshaw
15:22Kennedy
15:23Graham
15:24to Armstrong
15:30story
15:32Graham
15:34and a one-two
15:35that time
15:36that didn't
15:37quite come off
15:37Jack Charlton
15:41and a foul
15:41by Armstrong
15:42on Rini
15:44a look of
15:45injured innocence
15:47but a free
15:48kick to
15:48Leeds United
15:55and the crowd
15:56behind that
15:57Leeds United
15:57goal
15:58a mass
15:58of red and
15:59white scarves
16:00now
16:09and now it's
16:10Lorimer
16:12stopped by
16:13McNabb
16:31for him
16:31to pull down
16:32from the back
16:34and Lorimer
16:35in fact
16:35wanted to take
16:36it quickly
16:37but the referee
16:38I think
16:39keener to have
16:39a word
16:40with John
16:41Roberts
16:41denying Leeds
16:42the chance
16:43of taking it
16:43quickly
16:43Roberts
16:44to get
16:44ahead to it
16:48Kennedy
16:51Story
16:54played for
16:54Armstrong
16:55played nicely
16:55for Graham
16:56and down
16:57goes Graham
16:57taken by
16:58Norman Hunter
17:02as the ball
17:03began to flow
17:03a lot more
17:04smoothly now
17:05for Arsenal
17:25Armstrong
17:25Armstrong with the
17:26floating free
17:26kick
17:27and good work
17:28there by
17:28Harvey
17:30under a lot
17:31of pressure
17:31from Kennedy
17:32and he did
17:32well there
17:41Roberts
17:42Roberts
17:42really not
17:42tight
17:42getting underway
17:43and McNabb
17:44surely obstructing
17:45Belfit
17:49Rice
17:51Wilson
18:00off the head
18:01of Hunter
18:01in fact
18:03Yorath
18:05to Jack
18:06Charlton
18:08Clark
18:09but nodded
18:10straight to
18:11Simpson
18:11Radford again
18:12wandering down
18:12that right
18:18Radford
18:18and Yorath
18:19and the
18:20book is
18:20coming out
18:21he's going
18:22to be
18:22booked
18:24for his
18:24feet too
18:25dangerously
18:25high on
18:26Radford
18:26who is in
18:27a lot of
18:27pain
18:27Terry Yorath
18:30I think he's
18:31explained to the
18:31referee that
18:32the ball was
18:32that chest
18:33high
18:33he couldn't
18:34get down to
18:35it with his
18:35head
18:36if he was
18:36going to do
18:36anything
18:37he had to
18:37get up to
18:38it with his
18:38feet
18:39but Mr
18:40Nippard
18:40not listening
18:41instead the
18:42name of
18:42Yorath
18:43goes into
18:43the book
18:48and I
18:49think Yorath
18:49would be
18:50well advised
18:50not to
18:51answer back
18:52again
18:57I wonder
18:58what the
18:58reaction of
18:58Don Revy
18:59that would
18:59be
19:12so George
19:12is Graham
19:13with the
19:13free kick
19:13and Hunter
19:14to get it
19:15away
19:19Clark
19:25mainly to
19:26Lorimer
19:32Giles to Yorath
19:36Giles
19:37Giles again
19:37and Rice
19:38covering up
19:39any possible
19:40one-two
19:41that Leeds
19:41were trying
19:41to play
19:42down the
19:42left
19:54and given
19:55and given
19:55and given
19:55Leeds
19:55United's way
19:58a free kick
20:05well into
20:05injury time
20:06at the end
20:07of the first
20:07half
20:07and in fact
20:08there goes
20:09the whistle
20:09for half
20:11time
20:11with Arsenal
20:11leading by
20:12Golden
20:12Ails
20:13scored
20:13just ten
20:13minutes
20:14from
20:14half
20:14time
20:15by
20:15George
20:15Graham
20:18really the
20:18best
20:19flowing
20:19move
20:19of the
20:19match
20:19and Arsenal
20:20looking very
20:21impressive
20:21indeed in the
20:22last quarter
20:22of an hour

20:27against Spurs
20:28and Wolves
20:29against Everton
20:30but the
20:31half-time
20:31score here
20:32at Highbury
20:32is Arsenal
20:34one
20:34Leeds
20:35United
20:35nil
20:36and we'll be
20:37back with you
20:37in just a
20:38couple of minutes
20:49Charlie George
20:50the young
20:51Arsenal player
20:52trying to come
20:52back from injury
20:53and the man
20:54that so many
20:55Arsenal fans
20:56say the side
20:56is missing
20:57although Arsenal
20:57in the last
20:58quarter now
20:58of that first
20:59half
20:59looking very
20:59impressive
21:00indeed
21:00and leading
21:01by one
21:01goal to nil
21:07so now
21:08it's Paul
21:08Meade
21:12to Yorath
21:15to Norman
21:15Hunter
21:20Belfit not
21:20quite getting
21:21that
21:21and Bremner
21:21trying to
21:22burst through
21:22into a
21:23dangerous
21:23position
21:24in the
21:24middle of
21:24that area
21:25and now
21:25it's George
21:25Graham
21:26a long
21:26one away
21:26to try
21:27and get
21:27Kennedy
21:28and Rini
21:29covering
21:29very well
21:30indeed
21:30back to
21:30Harvey
21:35Giles
21:37and Roberts
21:38again
21:39Hunter
21:44Rini
21:45to
21:45Madeley
21:47slipping
21:51but now
21:52Yorath
21:54Hunter
21:55going to
21:56hit one
21:57and Wilson
21:57watching it
21:58all the way
22:02Armstrong
22:03played for
22:04Graham
22:08Simpson
22:10Graham
22:11again
22:13the tempo
22:14and the pace
22:15still very much
22:16reduced
22:28Armstrong
22:29to Graham
22:29and the throw
22:34given to
22:34Arsenal
22:36good quick
22:37throw by
22:38Armstrong
22:38to find
22:39George Graham
22:41Hunter
22:42Rini
22:43Rini
22:45uncharacteristic
22:45there of
22:46Leeds United
22:46taking
22:47two or three
22:48goes to get
22:49it away
22:49and they
22:49still haven't
22:49got it away
22:50Kennedy
22:50there
22:50now
22:51Story
22:51trying to
22:51hit one
22:52on the
22:52turn
22:53and Harvey
22:54late seeing
22:55it
22:55from Peter
22:56Story
22:56George Grail
22:59Bradford
23:10with so much
23:11more skill
23:11than a lot
23:12of people
23:12give him
23:12credit for
23:13they see
23:13him as
23:13a good
23:14player
23:14in the
23:14air
23:15with a
23:16powerful
23:16shot
23:16but he's
23:17got a
23:17lot
23:17of good
23:17skills
23:18on the
23:18ground
23:18as well
23:28Roberts
23:31three
23:32Leeds
23:32defenders
23:33against
23:33two
23:33Arsenal
23:34attackers
23:34Kennedy
23:34winning it
23:35in the
23:35air
23:35Rini
23:37who has
23:38been
23:38faultless
23:43Jorath
23:46Madley
23:48Hunter
23:51Bremner
23:54finding
23:55Jorath
24:00Hunter
24:01now
24:04Bremner
24:08Bremner
24:09in fact
24:09only half
24:10challenged
24:10there by
24:11Rice
24:11but he
24:11looked behind
24:12for the
24:12referee
24:12and here's
24:13Giles
24:13with a
24:13great
24:13chance
24:14and a
24:14point
24:15save
24:15by
24:15Wilson
24:17well that's
24:18probably the
24:18best chance
24:19the Leeds
24:19United had
24:20had
24:20and Giles
24:21very nearly
24:22made the
24:22most of
24:23it
24:23Wilson
24:23was
24:24absolutely
24:25magnificent
24:27Giles
24:27again
24:28to turn
24:28it in
24:28once more
24:29Clark
24:29going
24:29for it
24:30and
24:30once more
24:30Wilson
24:31gathering
24:31that ball
24:32above his
24:32head
24:32again
24:34we've now
24:35had three
24:35very fine
24:36saves
24:36from Bob
24:37Wilson
24:37this
24:37afternoon
24:37now
24:39McClintock
24:39right
24:40now it's
24:51Armstrong
24:54loaded
24:54loaded there
24:55towards Kennedy
24:56but having
24:57it
24:57fisted
24:57off
24:57his
24:58head
24:58by
24:58Harvey
24:59and now
25:00Yorath
25:00to take up
25:00the running
25:01for Leeds
25:01United
25:08Giles
25:10Giles
25:11to Lorimer
25:17Giles
25:18and Belfit
25:20again desperately
25:21trying to get
25:21it through
25:21to Bremner
25:22and Bremner
25:23stopped by
25:23McClintock
25:24Roberts now
25:25to Radford
25:31Armstrong
25:37Simpson
25:37not a good
25:38pass there
25:38by Armstrong
25:39it gave
25:39Simpson
25:40a run
25:41that he
25:41needn't
25:41have had
25:42and gave
25:43Leeds
25:43the chance
25:44to get
25:44possession
25:44which they've
25:45got now
25:45the maidly
25:46striding
25:46forward
25:47Bremner
25:47here with
25:48him
25:52Bremner
25:53trying to
25:54find the
25:54angle for
25:55the shot
25:55in the end
25:56couldn't
25:56find the
25:57room
25:58Hunter
25:58now
26:00Giles
26:00right up
26:00with the
26:01attack
26:02slowly
26:03but surely
26:03Leeds
26:04putting more
26:05and more
26:05emphasis
26:06on attack
26:06with more
26:06and more
26:07men
26:07coming forward
26:08for them
26:08the ball
26:08still in
26:09play
26:09and now
26:10Kennedy
26:10maybe that'll
26:11give Arsenal
26:12the chance
26:12that they're
26:13looking for
26:14Radford is
26:14streaking
26:15into a
26:15central position
26:16still Kennedy
26:17going on
26:18trying to
26:19hold off
26:19Madeley
26:21and still
26:21he goes on
26:22and down
26:22he goes
26:23and a
26:23penalty
26:24the penalty
26:25given
26:25really on
26:26Kennedy
26:29and Madeley
26:31is up
26:31or rather
26:31really is
26:32absolutely
26:33horrified by
26:34it but the
26:35referee is
26:35adamant
26:37and I should
26:38think Don
26:39Revy probably
26:39isn't terribly
26:40happy with it
26:40either but the
26:42referee was there
26:42and he says a
26:43penalty
26:50well Peter
26:51will be the man
26:52who takes it
26:53the man who
26:54scored that
26:55dramatic penalty
26:56in the
26:56semi-final
27:01and that's the
27:02man who's got
27:02to stop it
27:03David Harvey
27:07story making
27:08absolutely sure
27:09Harvey is
27:09poised
27:13and they've
27:14got to stay
27:14outside that
27:15penalty area
27:15as story
27:16comes up
27:18and a
27:18great
27:19almost a
27:20great save
27:21there by
27:21Harvey
27:21pushing it
27:22into the
27:22roof of the
27:23net
27:24he's wild
27:25with himself
27:26but story
27:27has scored
27:28and put
27:28Arsenal to
27:29up
27:30played high
27:31Harvey
27:32gets a
27:33hand to
27:33it
27:33but into
27:34the roof
27:35of the
27:35net
27:352-0
27:36then to
27:36Arsenal
27:44and
27:45Philippe
27:45Bramner
27:46looking
27:46disgusted
27:47at the
27:47referee
27:49story
27:50delighted to
27:51have scored
27:51the second
27:52one
27:52a tremendous
27:53run by
27:54Kennedy
27:54into that
27:55position
27:55from which
27:55the penalty
27:56came
27:59Don Remy
28:00not very
28:01happy either
28:03still that
28:04lead substitute
28:05warming up
28:05on the far
28:06side
28:06Joe Jordan
28:09the young
28:10Scott
28:1019 years
28:11old
28:11yet to
28:12play in
28:12the first
28:12division
28:15Bremner
28:18Lorimer
28:20with Rene
28:21going outside
28:21him
28:24still Lorimer
28:25curled there
28:26towards
28:26Belfit
28:27good work
28:28there by
28:28Wilson
28:32really for
28:33courage
28:33there is no
28:34beating Bob
28:34Wilson
28:39Story
28:39nicely
28:40aside
28:40for
28:41Armstrong
28:41and
28:42still
28:42Armstrong
28:43but his
28:44shot is
28:44charged down
28:45Simpson
28:47Graham
28:48without too
28:49much room
28:49to manoeuvre
28:49in
28:50Kennedy
28:50to
28:51Honda
28:51under one
28:51just over
28:53that crossbar
28:57but a very good
28:58Arsenal move
28:59indeed
29:01Jordan
29:03Clark
29:04Bremner
29:08well played
29:09well played there
29:09by Simpson
29:09but now
29:10madeley to
29:10follow it in
29:12Lorimer
29:16and Jordan
29:17waiting it for it
29:17the substitute
29:18but well over
29:22now in the final
29:23minute of the game
29:26and it looks
29:27and it looks as though
29:27Leeds United
29:28who took three points
29:29out of four from
29:30Arsenal
29:30last season
29:31will go away
29:32empty handed
29:32this time
29:48and there goes the final whistle
29:51in fact 15 seconds early
29:53but it's a final whistle
29:54that says
29:55victory for Arsenal
29:56by two goals
29:57to nil
29:57George Graham
29:58scoring the first goal
30:00and then Peter Scorey
30:01scoring the second one
30:02from the penalty spot
30:03after a great run
30:04by Ray Kennedy
30:07so a victory that Arsenal
30:08will be very happy
30:10indeed about
30:10and a final scoreline
30:12here at Highbury
30:13that reads
30:14Arsenal 2
30:15Leeds United
30:16nil
30:18so Arsenal
30:19very happy indeed
30:19with the two points
30:20they got against
30:21Leeds United
30:21and still to come
30:22on the programme today
30:23highlights of
30:23Sheffield United
30:24against Spurs
30:25and Wolves
30:26against Everton
30:36now this morning's
30:37newspapers seem to be
30:38sharply divided
30:39over two issues
30:39at Highbury yesterday
30:40the News of the World
30:41and the People
30:42want recognition
30:42for Ray Kennedy
30:43give Kennedy a cap
30:45Kennedy set for England
30:46while the Sunday Express
30:47say
30:48well Arsenal
30:49was it really a penalty
30:50two points there
30:51for Jimmy Hill
30:52but above all Jim
30:53are Arsenal
30:53as good as they were
30:55well unlike a few
30:56of their supporters
30:56up to now
30:57I think that they are
30:58in fact I think
30:59maybe they're stronger
30:59because there's
31:00increasing competition
31:01for first team places
31:02at the back
31:03one young man
31:03who's increased
31:04that competition
31:05even more
31:05is John Roberts
31:06I confess to being
31:07a little wrong
31:08about him
31:08because I thought
31:09he was too set
31:10too stiff
31:11too nervous really
31:12to make the kind
31:13of player
31:13he is at the moment
31:15watch just a few
31:16of the things
31:17he did yesterday
31:17in the air of course
31:18he's extremely dominating
31:19at the back
31:20he really blotted
31:21Alan Clark
31:21and Belfit
31:22out of the game
31:23they had no chance
31:24there
31:24but on the ground
31:25too
31:25he can go in
31:27quickly
31:27nippily
31:28and make the right
31:29kind of tackle
31:30to prevent danger
31:31we pick him up
31:32now showing
31:33just from a goal kick
31:34just how much
31:36Alan Clark
31:36was dominated
31:37by him
31:38almost by this
31:38stage of the game
31:39really
31:39he wasn't even
31:41getting off the floor
31:43John Roberts
31:43in the air
31:44wonderful athlete
31:45plenty of confidence
31:46and really
31:48a player to watch
31:49for the future
31:49but more than that
31:50up front too
31:51John Radford
31:52had a game
31:53as good a game
31:54really as I've ever
31:55seen him have
31:55superb performance
31:56superb confidence
31:57great speed
31:58and rivalling
31:59chivers really
32:00for the striker
32:01of North London
32:02never mind about
32:02Kennedy
32:03he was playing
32:04his part
32:04to the full
32:06his shooting
32:07impressed me
32:08very much indeed
32:09just watch this
32:10early on
32:10as the ball
32:11bounces out
32:11quick volley
32:12on the bar
32:13and luckily
32:14that that didn't
32:15take the lead
32:15and then again
32:16this control
32:17we've seen this
32:17a couple of times
32:18already
32:18but I think
32:19it's worth
32:19looking at again
32:20as the ball
32:21comes over
32:21look at the
32:21quick control
32:22there
32:23neat movement
32:24and tremendous
32:25power in that
32:26volley
32:26which hit a post
32:27but his pace
32:29was the thing
32:30that really kept
32:30Leeds on the hop
32:31yesterday
32:32and determination
32:33look at this
32:33acceleration
32:35nothing's going
32:35to stop him
32:36getting his foot
32:37to that ball
32:37first
32:38and getting it
32:38across
32:39and once again
32:40we get a chance
32:41to see the neat
32:41control of a big man
32:43and a quick shot
32:44there which just
32:45missed the post
32:45Radford
32:46in splendid form
32:49and more than that
32:50his partner Kennedy
32:50seems to have picked up
32:52even extra confidence
32:53as a result of
32:54last season's exploits
32:55without any doubt
32:56this is an extremely
32:57dangerous combination
32:58more dangerous
32:59than last season
33:00let's look how Kennedy
33:01bought about that penalty
33:03it was disputed
33:04but we had a camera
33:04there in a perfect position
33:06behind the goal
33:06to judge
33:07what happened
33:09in this incident
33:09it's a very strong run
33:11and he begins
33:12to take on
33:12two players there
33:14one continues
33:15to chase him
33:17and then as Rini
33:18comes across
33:18just watch
33:19he plays the ball
33:20past him
33:20I think most referees
33:21would give this
33:22as obstruction
33:23if anything
33:24and tries to get
33:25to the ball
33:26but in the end
33:27you see as he puts
33:28his foot through there
33:29he goes over the top
33:31as Rini puts his foot
33:32through there
33:33and the ref thought
33:34that that was a trip
33:35I think maybe Arsenal
33:36were fractionally lucky
33:37to get away with it
33:38here's Story
33:38now coming up
33:40to convert the penalty
33:41just watch what happens here
33:42and what a splendid attempt
33:43Harvey makes to save it
33:44he doesn't move too soon
33:46he does seem to know
33:48the way it's going
33:48I wonder whether he picked that up
33:50from television
33:50and Stoke last year
33:52but more than that
33:53Arsenal played some good football
33:55maybe in flashes
33:56maybe this time
33:57in more than flashes
33:58we've seen some wonderful goals
34:00that they've scored
34:00as a result of slick
34:02one-two movements
34:02I don't think we've seen
34:03a better one
34:04than the goal that really
34:05won them the game yesterday
34:06let's take one more look at that
34:08looking at the part
34:09that all players played in it
34:10a mistake there
34:11from Jackie Charlton
34:12I must say I was disappointed
34:13when you think all he's done
34:14for England
34:14that he was booed
34:15at times yesterday
34:16but watch now
34:17the skill of Arsenal
34:19beautiful ball from Kennedy
34:20laid off by Graham
34:21and there's Armstrong
34:23perfectly laying into space
34:25in case you think
34:26the goalkeeper's at fault here
34:27in not being able
34:28to move his feet
34:28he's expecting to save it
34:30with his hands
34:30and his feet are rooted
34:31to the floor
34:32as that goes through his legs
34:33there it is
34:34the skill
34:35and the power of Arsenal
34:36creating the goal
34:37that won the game
34:38I'm quite sure
34:39in my own mind
34:40that this season
34:41although they may not
34:41achieve as much
34:42as last season
34:43which is almost asking
34:44for a further miracle
34:44that they are going
34:46to be a power
34:46to be reckoned with
34:48and I think they're going
34:48to provide more football
34:50for us to enjoy
34:51than we did
34:51from the sea
34:52from them before
34:53well after that note
34:54of optimism
34:55for all Arsenal fans
34:56from Jimmy Hill
34:56it's time for some more action
34:57and a chance for us
34:58in fact to look at Everton
34:59who like Leeds United
35:00really have been hit hard
35:01by injuries this season
35:02they are in fact
35:03just four off the bottom
35:04of the first division table
35:05and yesterday though
35:06they got a very good point
35:07indeed against Wolves
35:09at Molyneux
35:09the pictures come from ATV
35:10the commentator Hugh Johns
35:12Wolves are in the lighter shirts
35:14and watch out now
35:15for the booking
35:15of Everton goalkeeper
35:17Gordon West
35:20a chance for parking
35:25the inaccuracy
35:27of some of those Wolves
35:27passing movements
35:29really pretty miserable
35:34now Hegan
35:35is on the side
35:40that was West
35:41who's going to get booked
35:42about a deliberate
35:45deliberately stopping
35:50going in the book
35:52Norman Burton
35:53sure his sixth booking
35:54of the season
36:02Hurst banging it forward
36:04Johnson on the jump
36:06Kenny now
36:11Scott
36:14Ball
36:16Park in the nod back
36:17to Parks
36:28Scott losing it to Redstone
36:30the break on
36:31Hegan in the middle
36:32there's Hegan
36:35that'll do it
36:39Danny Hegan
36:40won that again
36:41for Wolves
36:44Danny Hegan
36:45second league goal
36:46for Waterhampton Wanderers
36:51and it was quite clear
36:52that once
36:53Wagstaff
36:54had the beating
36:55of Scott
36:55on that left side
36:56Hegan
36:57trotted through the middle
36:58had no trouble at all
37:00the goal was there
37:00for the taking
37:01all the way
37:06the free kick's been given
37:07of course
37:08Newton with it
37:12Alan Ball
37:13Bill Kenny
37:15and the referee
37:16got a touch
37:18McCall gets it
37:19in the face
37:20Derricot down the line
37:21for Whittle
37:25and still
37:29the pressure on
37:30Everton's first corner
37:32of the game
37:35see what they make of it
37:36Alan Whittle
37:50Alan Ball
37:53a very delighted fellow
37:54there's the scorer
37:55Joe Royal
37:56and the scoreline
37:571-1
38:00well Alan Ball
38:01really had the best chance
38:03from the corner kick
38:04of Alan Whittle
38:05but when he was charged down
38:07easiest scoring chance
38:08you ever saw
38:09then for Joe Royal
38:09as he gets his first goal
38:10of the season
38:12certainly I don't think
38:13anyone can have any doubts
38:13that Everton goalkeeper
38:15Gordon West
38:15deserved to have his name
38:16taken by referee
38:17Norman Bertenshaw
38:18and I suppose
38:18when you consider too
38:19some of the things
38:20that players are booked
38:21for these days
38:21that West might even
38:23have been a little lucky
38:23not to have been sent off
38:24because obviously
38:25that incident
38:25grossly affected
38:26the result of that
38:27Wolves-Everton game
38:38now we turn
38:39to Ferenc Pushkash
38:40and I was telling you
38:41how yesterday
38:42he took ten penalties
38:43in our on the ball program
38:44against Gordon Banks
38:45at Highbury
38:46and he scored
38:47with six of them
38:47but he did something else
38:49as well
38:49while we were there filming
38:50and we thought
38:51this might interest you
38:52as well
39:15the wonderful
39:16Ferenc Pushkash
39:17and his skills
39:17the police music
39:18of course
39:19because that is
39:19a tremendous lesson
39:21in football control
39:22I suppose most professionals
39:23watching would say
39:24well I can do that
39:24as well
39:25well maybe they can
39:26but remember Pushkash
39:28went from the edge
39:28of the penalty area
39:29to the goal line
39:30never really hurrying
39:31his stride
39:31always with the ball
39:33firmly under control
39:34you try that for yourself
39:36our last action today
39:37in fact
39:38and for that
39:38we have Spurs
39:39they went north yesterday
39:40to the new league leaders
39:41Sheffield United
39:42really I suppose
39:43it was a case of
39:43the new masters
39:44meeting the old masters
39:46the pictures come from
39:47Yorkshire Television
39:47commentator Keith Macklin
39:49and Sheffield United
39:50are in the stripes
39:52trying to chip it over
39:53for Dearden
39:54but again
39:54the figure of England
39:56is there
39:56helped on by Peters
39:58Hockey
40:01Badger
40:02Woodward
40:03good move
40:04this by Sheffield
40:05put across
40:11Ted Hensley
40:12couldn't really
40:13get hold of that
40:15tried to stab it in
40:16but got no power
40:17behind it
40:23and it looks as if
40:25yet again
40:25the whistle has gone
40:27Pat Jennings
40:28may well have been
40:31penalised
40:41Pat Jennings
40:42taking the ball
40:43just out of the area
40:46Corrie
40:47chipping it over
40:49Flynn
40:49was moving in
40:50and it's
40:51a goal
40:52it's a goal
40:53it's there
40:53it looks like
40:57an own goal
40:58by one of the
40:58Spurs defenders
40:59and Matt
41:00talking to a goal
41:01people there
41:04joke in here
41:04I think
41:05an own goal
41:10but whoever put the
41:11finishing touches
41:12to it
41:13in 38 minutes
41:14Sheffield United
41:16have gone into the lead
41:19we're in injury time
41:20of the first half
41:23and what an eventful
41:24first half
41:25this has been
41:31still the Spurs
41:32looking for that
41:32equaliser
41:35Chivers
41:35going out
41:36to take this
41:37specialist long throw
41:39and they can afford
41:40to do without him
41:40in the middle
41:41as the ball
41:41comes over
41:41Gilzeen
41:42netting it backwards
41:43and penalised
41:44for pushing
41:48Alan Gilzeen
42:20trying to find
42:21Coates
42:26Mulleray
42:27Perriman
42:30Mulleray
42:31Beal
42:36what a goal
42:38a magnificent
42:39tap up by
42:40Martin Peters
42:41right on the
42:42halftime whistle
42:43a superb header
42:45by Martin Peters
42:46a beautifully
42:47flighted cross
42:48and Peters
42:49as so often
42:50he has done
42:51for both
42:51West Ham United
42:52and for Spurs
42:54and for England
42:55was in the right
42:56position
42:57a beautifully
42:57placed header
43:11Chivers
43:11that ball
43:13bouncing over
43:13the top
43:14of Cahoon
43:14Gilzeen
43:20a good ball
43:21to Perriman
43:22the angles
43:22tight
43:23my word
43:24that was
43:24pretty close
43:25Perriman
43:26a very sharp
43:26angle
43:27put that one
43:28on the top
43:28of the net
43:28a young Steve
43:29Perriman
43:30this teenager
43:31who came to the
43:31forefront last season
43:33chipped that one
43:33just over the top
43:57a bad bit of
43:59misdirection there
44:00between Perriman
44:00and Mulleray
44:01this is
44:01Salmons
44:04good chip
44:05Scullion
44:06wonderful goal
44:08what a superb goal
44:13Salmons
44:14the centre
44:15little
44:16good Scullion
44:17perfectly placed
44:19header
44:19and Sheffield United
44:20go back
44:21into the lead
44:22we're in the
44:23last minute
44:24of this game
44:25and what a
44:25marvellous match
44:26it's been
44:35Hemsley
44:39Hockey
44:41getting up
44:42as we're in
44:42injury time
44:44this is Woodward
44:45boring in on goal
44:46trying to get
44:47his right foot
44:48in action
44:48he prefers
44:48that right foot
44:50oh and he
44:51almost got it
44:52past Jennings
44:53Jennings wasn't
44:54at all confident
44:55with that
44:57he got it
44:58round the
44:58I think the pace
44:59of the ball
44:59deceived him
45:00he expected
45:01a much harder
45:01shot than that
45:03may have
45:04mistimed his dive
45:05but he got it
45:06round the post
45:19that ball
45:20sailing across
45:22the area
45:22and way to the
45:23right
45:27well obviously
45:28Sheffield United
45:29aren't in any
45:29hurry to
45:31get rid of the
45:32ball
45:35Spurs of course
45:35are
45:36they must realise
45:37the seconds
45:38are ticking away
45:39for them
45:42Pratt
45:43Peters
45:44Peters
45:45pushing a long
45:46one for Chivers
45:46to chase
45:47and Cahoon
45:48walloping it
45:49away
45:50not a man
45:51for half
45:51measures
45:53certainly not
45:54at a time
45:54like this
45:56but it spurs
45:57on the attack
45:58and what a
45:59finish it would
46:00be if they
46:00equalised
46:01here's Chivers
46:03with a long
46:03throw
46:04this last
46:05desperate throw
46:06quite literally
46:06of Tottenham
46:07Hotspur
46:08Chivers
46:09right into
46:10the middle
46:10Peters
46:10ahead
46:11and is it
46:12there
46:13it's a goal
46:14they've done it
46:15and the man
46:16who's done it
46:16Alan Gilzee
46:18what a beautifully
46:19word move
46:19Chivers the throw
46:20Peters ahead
46:21and right on the
46:22line is Gilzee
46:24to put the
46:25finishing touches
46:25what a
46:26dramatic way
46:27to finish the
46:27game
46:28a carbon
46:28copy of the
46:29first half
46:30with a goal
46:31in the dying
46:33seconds of the
46:34half
46:36significant thing
46:36about both
46:37those Spurs
46:37goals
46:38Martin Peters
46:38winning balls
46:39beautifully in
46:40the air
46:40he really does
46:40seem to be
46:41having a fine
46:41season for the
46:42Spurs
46:42that's it from
46:43the programme
46:43today
46:44hope you've
46:44enjoyed it
46:44we leave you
46:45of course with
46:46action
46:46that George
46:47Graham goal
46:47for Arsenal
46:48against Leeds
46:49yesterday
46:49the wonderful
46:501-2
46:52Kennedy
46:53following it
46:53up quickly
46:54and George
46:54Graham in
46:55there
46:55a lovely
46:561-2
46:56with Armstrong
46:57Graham again
46:57and a goal
46:58George Graham
47:202-3
