00:00Hi!
00:00Hi!
00:01Oh, Pandora!
00:02Pandora!
00:03What you need to do is get control of Pandora.
00:07If dogs go wild...
00:10They are absolutely nuts.
00:12Is the dog around?
00:14Oh!
00:15I can't control them.
00:17Come on now, big boy.
00:18Nathan thinks he can read.
00:19Surely he can.
00:20He can't.
00:21He's a dog.
00:22Of course he can.
00:22And get up.
00:23Oh, here we go.
00:24No, get down.
00:25To no good.
00:26It's not me now, is it?
00:28I'm honoured.
00:28Or down.
00:29Oh, no.
00:31And dirty.
00:32He loves a big, large crap.
00:36Tank likes to rub his boy parts.
00:39What is going on with you, Tank?
00:41When pups...
00:42I wonder what we're going to learn today.
00:44...need to be schooled.
00:46Three, two, one, and sit.
00:48Fantastic.
00:49Look at that.
00:50Or if your pooch...
00:52He's dropped one.
00:53He got a whiff.
00:54...has a personal problem.
00:55Some dogs have bacterias that are gas-producing.
00:59Just in case.
01:01One man...
01:02Hey, look at that.
01:04...will give it his all.
01:06Jack!
01:06Oi!
01:07Leave it.
01:08...and get answers...
01:09I think I might know what's going on, and it's not what you think.
01:12...to any doggy dilemma.
01:15Yeah, that's next level, innit?
01:20This week...
01:21He brought me foot.
01:22...a mischievous mountain dog...
01:24He's the culprit, eh?
01:26...causing an avalanche of pain...
01:28I've got it.
01:28I haven't got it.
01:28You can't come in.
01:29...and tearing a family apart.
01:31She was my birthing partner.
01:33She was my bestest mate.
01:33She's the one that I want to be there.
01:36I'll recognise this scene.
01:38...an internet sensation...
01:41...whose bad manners...
01:43Olive, no, no, no, no, no.
01:44...threaten...
01:46...her mum and dad's relationship.
01:48I just sit there on my phone.
01:49It's like third wheeling.
01:51...and can Graham's expert help...
01:53Who in the family do you think he takes after them?
01:55Definitely me.
01:56...take the wind out of a...
01:58He has, hasn't he?
01:59He's dropped one.
02:00Have you got a whiff?
02:01...farty Frenchie.
02:02One of the biggest signs of an intolerance for dogs...
02:05...is those very smelly rear-end, as you put it, bottom burbs.
02:15First up, Graham's headed north-east...
02:17...to meet a juvenile delinquent.
02:20Well, I'm in Sunderland and the dog I'm going to go see today...
02:23...he's on the cusp of adulthood...
02:26...and I think he's fallen into bad ways.
02:28Oh!
02:30Saint Bernard Eugene arrived when 30-year-old Cody's life...
02:34...took a difficult turn.
02:37I split up with my ex-partner...
02:39...and I've always wanted a Saint Bernard since being a little girl...
02:42...so I just went for him.
02:44You're not working.
02:46His personality is amazing, he's just so funny.
02:48I love everything about him.
02:49But his behaviour is like...
02:50...it's terrible.
02:52No, stop it!
02:53No!
02:53As he grew...
02:56...instead of a gentle giant...
02:57...who could heal Cody's broken heart...
03:00Sit!
03:02...her now colossal one-year-old is...
03:05...breaking it.
03:06Eugene!
03:06Get down!
03:07Get down!
03:09Jumps at you.
03:09Sit!
03:11Runs at you.
03:12Barges you.
03:13Nips you.
03:14No nipping.
03:14No nipping.
03:15Nothing viciously, but just so exciting.
03:20Taking Eugene out...
03:22...is a battle of wills...
03:25...Cody's losing.
03:26Hey son!
03:27Hey!
03:27Let me be quite honest with you, I'm not in control at all.
03:30Hi son!
03:31Let's go!
03:32How are then?
03:34Come on!
03:37She'd love to spend quality time with family.
03:40But Eugene's left her isolated.
03:43None of me family want to come round because he's just too much.
03:45Hiya, how you alright?
03:47Oh, sorry Eugene's here.
03:48My sister's my best friend.
03:50She's like the best sister and she's my best mate.
03:52Bye!
03:53The sisters once saw each other often.
03:56Especially with them beautiful white socks on.
03:58But not anymore.
04:00I don't come in the house.
04:00I normally just sit in the car and wait for her to come out.
04:04Because of Eugene, Cody hardly sees her beloved nephew.
04:08I'm gutted.
04:09I'm gutted.
04:09You kind of come in.
04:10It's just the way of it is.
04:11Yeah, yeah, no.
04:12Cody doesn't have the relationship that she should have with Albie.
04:15Hey!
04:16No, Eugene!
04:17No.
04:17She was my birthing partner.
04:19She's my bestest mate.
04:20She's the one that I want to be there.
04:22There's nothing I can do.
04:23Literally nothing.
04:25He just thinks it's funny.
04:27But it's not.
04:31Right.
04:32Shall we unleash the beast then?
04:35Hello!
04:36Hello!
04:37Come on, you good boy.
04:38Get him.
04:38Get him.
04:39Sit down.
04:40It's like having a pony in your kitchen.
04:43Hello.
04:44Eugene's also pushed another family member away.
04:47Get him.
04:48Graham's arrived in time.
04:50Are you alright?
04:50I'm glad you're selling.
04:52To meet Cody's dad, Evan.
04:54Down now.
04:55Ten weeks ago.
04:57I'm down.
04:58No.
04:58Evan took Eugene for a walk.
05:01Be here.
05:01He's after you.
05:02That left him.
05:04No.
05:04No.
05:05Without a leg to stand on.
05:07Oh, my goodness.
05:09Oh, you've got a broken foot as well.
05:10Yeah, he's the culprit, eh?
05:11He just decided to jump for no reason whatsoever.
05:14And basically took me with him.
05:16And he broke me foot.
05:18And me foot was double backwards.
05:19And smashed it all alongside down there.
05:22Blimey.
05:24Not good.
05:25No, you're not kidding.
05:26Definitely not.
05:27Yeah.
05:27So how much walking is he getting at the minute?
05:29He's not getting any walks at the minute.
05:30Right.
05:30So I'm just not taking him out.
05:33Even the thought of an outdoor expedition.
05:35Oh, right.
05:36Okay.
05:37Has this mountain dog losing his crampons.
05:40Oh, blimey.
05:42He's actually took my shoe off.
05:44He's going through my arms straight away.
05:46He's actually nipping my skin now as well.
05:48That's going to hurt.
05:49It does hurt.
05:50He's dragging you everywhere, isn't he?
05:52Eugene.
05:53Graham suspects Eugene's lack of regular walks.
05:56Oh, he's actually doing this to me.
05:57Could be fueling his very bad behaviour.
06:00He's ripped it as well.
06:01He's actually ripped it all.
06:02He has, hasn't he?
06:02Yeah.
06:02Oh.
06:04To understand the problem.
06:06Oh, it's lovely out here, isn't it?
06:08He needs to see it.
06:11This is where I thought to get this now straight away.
06:14Like.
06:16Eugene.
06:16And in no time at all.
06:18Eugene.
06:18It's just constant.
06:19A coatless Cody.
06:21Eugene.
06:21Is in mountains of trouble.
06:23It's a bit of a tug of war, isn't it?
06:25Come on.
06:26When Eugene.
06:27Come on.
06:28Takes her for a walk.
06:33Yeah, right.
06:34So this is why you're giving it a walk in here, isn't it?
06:35Yeah.
06:38Back at home, Graham wants to understand the bigger impact.
06:43It's affected all parts of your life, I would imagine.
06:45Mm-hm.
06:47Me family don't come in the house anymore.
06:50I've got me sister.
06:51She's just had a little boy.
06:52And I'm, like, the first time as auntie.
06:54But I can't see him because she can't bring him in.
06:56Oh, that's sad, isn't it?
06:57Mm-hm.
07:02Hey, hey.
07:03Hey, hey, you all right?
07:04Hello.
07:04You stay there.
07:05When Zoe does pop over...
07:08Hello, you all right?
07:08Hey, hey.
07:09...it's from a distance.
07:12Before Eugene, you were in each other's houses all the time, weren't they?
07:15Every day.
07:16All the time.
07:16She was in a...
07:17She'd come every day.
07:18We would sit in here for hours.
07:20Now we've got Eugene.
07:21Can't do that now.
07:22Yeah.
07:22It's having a heck of an impact on your family.
07:24Definitely.
07:25Yeah, it is.
07:26Like, massively.
07:29I really feel for Cody because she got Eugene after a break-up and she just wants to revel
07:35at being an auntie.
07:36No, Eugene.
07:37Cody's going to miss all of Albie's childhood at this race.
07:40This is a bad situation.
07:42Off.
07:43Eugene.
07:43Get off.
07:44Leave it.
07:44Leave it.
07:46Coming up.
07:47Olive, no more.
07:48No more.
07:48A mouthy mummy's girl.
07:50She's my first born.
07:51She's my little best friend.
07:53Coming between a couple.
07:55She'll always be number one.
07:57A wind machine.
07:58He's dropped one.
08:00He got a whiff.
08:00Gets a service.
08:02Some dogs have certain bacterias that are gas-producing.
08:07And will Eugene...
08:09...give Cody her life back?
08:11One of you is going to give up.
08:13One of you is going to give up.
08:20Get off me arm.
08:21In Sunderland...
08:22Leave it.
08:23...mountainous Eugene's...
08:25It's just constant.
08:26...willful ways...
08:28None of my family want to come round because he's just too much.
08:30...have left recently single Cody...
08:33I'm not coming in with the baby.
08:35...isolated at base camp.
08:37It's having a heck of an impact on your family.
08:39Yeah, it is.
08:40Like, massively.
08:41Hey!
08:41No!
08:42Stop!
08:43Hey!
08:43No!
08:44He just thinks it's funny.
08:46But Graham has a rescue plan.
08:50I think the mistake you're making is to look at the power and the size and go,
08:54and therefore this seems impossible.
08:56Mm-hm.
08:56Here's a thought for you.
08:57You look at heavyweight boxer.
08:59The referee's not scared of him.
09:01And when the referee says, ah, hang on, everything stops, he's in charge, isn't he?
09:05Yeah.
09:06But he's not physically bigger than the boxer.
09:08No.
09:08It's not done on power and strength.
09:10He has to play by your rules of the game.
09:14There you go.
09:15That's it.
09:16Good lad.
09:17I really want Cody to discover that you don't have to be stronger than your dog.
09:22Maybe mentally, you know?
09:24You're the one who sets the rules and applies them.
09:26That's what gives you control.
09:28And because of the way that Eugene acts up when he's out on a wall...
09:32I think the first place we should do some training is outside.
09:38At the minute, he doesn't really pay an awful lot of attention, does he?
09:41No.
09:41I'm being polite.
09:42Yeah.
09:43Literally none.
09:45So...
09:45I've got a ball.
09:46If he wants the ball, he's going to have to pay attention.
09:50Mm-hmm.
09:50If he's in the right position, not pulling me, if I've got that under my arm, he knows
09:55it's there.
09:56If he's a good boy, there you go.
09:58He gets the ball.
09:59Yeah, look, he likes that.
10:00Mm-hmm.
10:01The rules are simple.
10:02If you're in control and you're here, therefore not pulling, yeah?
10:06Mm-hmm.
10:06Good boy, I'll reward that.
10:08That's a yes, yeah?
10:09Yeah.
10:10If you're out there, you're not getting the ball.
10:12Yeah.
10:13What I'm going to suggest is we don't start by walking.
10:16We're going to do this in a just stood still.
10:19And as a little reminder, we can say steady, which basically means carry on, good boy,
10:24ball coming.
10:26Graham hopes to distract Eugene...
10:28They're bad, you're good.
10:30..using a ball as a reward for paying attention.
10:33You like the ball, don't you?
10:34Yeah.
10:34..and keep him focused...
10:36Yes, I do.
10:37..with a new vocal cue.
10:40Steady.
10:42Good!
10:43Good boy!
10:45So, what you do is you wait until he's doing the right thing,
10:48and then you put the word on top, steady.
10:51Yeah.
10:51And he's like, oh, steady must mean this.
10:55Are you up for having a go?
10:56Yeah, of course.
10:57There's your dog.
11:02Do it in, Mum.
11:04Can Cody get Eugene's attention?
11:07He's showing a bit of an interest in this lead.
11:09Using brain...
11:10Are you doing steady?
11:11..over Braun.
11:13Good.
11:13Drop.
11:15Good boy.
11:17This is good, isn't it?
11:19Yay!
11:20Next stage, taking a step or two and then stopping, right?
11:24And if he's a good boy, there goes the ball.
11:27Go on then.
11:27Go round.
11:28Round, round, round.
11:29Couple of steps and stop.
11:32Steady.
11:32Hey, that was all right.
11:34Steady.
11:35Good boy!
11:37There you go.
11:39There you go.
11:40Goodbye.
11:40As they take their first steps...
11:42That's the only thing, he's not going for the ball now.
11:44No.
11:44..the ball falls off Eugene's radar.
11:47Goodbye.
11:48..but Cody stays on it.
11:51If he's starting to just work for affection...
11:54Yeah.
11:54..happy days.
11:56You do.
11:58Very nice.
11:59Yeah, that'll do.
12:01Goodbye.
12:02There you go.
12:02That's it.
12:02Just go.
12:03Come on then.
12:04Come on.
12:05You do.
12:06That's it.
12:06Keep going if you can.
12:08All right.
12:09You're going to have a moment now, I think.
12:11It's all right.
12:12You can do this.
12:15One of you's going to give up.
12:19You too?
12:21It's so tempting, because I just want to go over there and dive in and see everything.
12:24Ah!
12:25And then it's not pretty at the moment.
12:27All right.
12:28Don't worry.
12:29You've just got to learn that Mum's not for turning now.
12:37Oh, well done.
12:38It takes a lot to do that.
12:39Good boy.
12:40Well done.
12:43You've just got to learn, no, you can't bully your mum around like this.
12:47Yeah.
12:47It doesn't work anymore.
12:48Uh-huh.
12:49All right.
12:49And now we go back to what we were doing.
12:52This morning, Cody couldn't get a couple of steps without being jumped all over by Eugene.
12:57Hey, come on.
12:59Just go.
13:00You do.
13:00Let's find out now.
13:02That's it.
13:02How many steps can she do walking nicely under control with a dog who knows the rules?
13:08Has Eugene's iron will...
13:10Come on then.
13:11Just go.
13:12...taken a knockout blow.
13:16That's very nice.
13:18Lovely.
13:20Keep going.
13:22Right.
13:23Yeah, turn around, come back.
13:26Bloody brilliant.
13:28Just minutes ago...
13:29You can go a bit quicker now if you want to.
13:31He paid no attention to his mum.
13:34Fantastic.
13:35But by proving her will is stronger...
13:38You've never done that before.
13:40Right now, I'm a pro now.
13:42Eugene appears to have thrown in the towel.
13:44Good boy.
13:45You're like, do you know what, I'm not having this anymore.
13:48No, definitely not.
13:48I'm the boss.
13:50That's it.
13:51Today, how's he been amazing?
13:53Like, it's something like an experience I never thought I'd get with Eugene.
13:56It does give us the confidence that Eugene will be a better dog.
14:00Couldn't even describe it.
14:01Like, it's just amazing.
14:04Graham's won the round.
14:05Good boy.
14:06But this bout's not over.
14:10It's all looking really good, but I don't think it'll sort out this problem of Cody's sister and the baby.
14:16Not you, Eugene.
14:18Hey!
14:18We need to come back another time and we'll work on that problem.
14:24Graham's devoted his career...
14:26See what we've got here then.
14:28...to fixing our furry friend's bad behaviour.
14:30Ooh.
14:31That's puzzly.
14:34But he gets inundated with queries about other doggy concerns.
14:38I get a lot of questions from people about dogs' wellbeing.
14:41That isn't strictly to do with training.
14:43So he wants to help all dogs...
14:46Good boy, Sydney.
14:47..be as happy and healthy as possible.
14:49Hello, buddy.
14:51To do it...
14:52I'm just gonna zoom in.
14:53..he's gathered a team of professionals working in veterinary medicine...
14:58Good result.
14:59..grooming...
15:01..and pet nutrition.
15:03This is obviously really high-quality food.
15:06I get a lot of questions from people about the way their dog smells in different ways.
15:11Debbie from Milton Keynes.
15:13She's got a question about how to stop a dog from smelling doggy...
15:17..after the dog's been bathed.
15:22But I've got one particularly whiffy problem...
15:24..from Lisa.
15:26Hi, Graham. I'm Lisa.
15:27I'm Lucy.
15:28And this is Stanley.
15:29He's our five-year-old Frenchie.
15:31And we have a rather embarrassing problem.
15:33He has really smelly bottom burps.
15:35Bottom burps?
15:36That's very genteel.
15:38We've tried all sorts of remedies.
15:39He absolutely clears out rooms sometimes,
15:41and we're just wondering if there's anything that you could do to help us.
15:45Graham's heading to West Yorkshire,
15:47where he knows a pet nutritionist
15:49who should be able to get to the bottom of Stanley's bottom issues.
15:55If you're having to vacate the premises
15:57because of your dog's noxious emissions,
16:00yeah, there's something wrong there.
16:03But before he introduces her to Stanley...
16:06Lisa, yeah? Hiya.
16:07Nice to meet you.
16:07..he wants to find out...
16:09Hello, Lucy. All right?
16:10..how his whiffy ways affect Lisa...
16:13..and daughter Lucy.
16:19Just in case, I've come prepared.
16:23Right.
16:24So how bad does it get there?
16:27Once, he let them rip, and after I kicked them out of my room,
16:31a friend was asking if it was me.
16:32That's it, yeah.
16:33I do think sometimes people think it's me,
16:35and that's why, yeah, that's why I need to get it resolved.
16:38Who in the family do you think he takes after, then?
16:40Definitely me.
16:43That's funny.
16:44Well, I do know a person who would be just a ticket
16:47when it comes to getting him on the path
16:50to maybe less Trumpington majors.
16:53Brilliant.
16:58Pet nutritionist Chloe Fuller has five years' experience
17:02helping dogs with digestion-related issues.
17:05Through my own experiences of becoming tube-fed,
17:09I discovered a whole passion for nutrition.
17:12I was already in love with dogs
17:14and told that people's mindsets can change
17:17from feeding your dog just to survive
17:19to instead feeding your dog to thrive.
17:23This is Chloe.
17:24So, Lisa, Lucy.
17:25Hey, good to meet you.
17:26And this is...
17:27Stanley.
17:27Oh, hello.
17:28Stanley.
17:29Oh, he's very sweet.
17:30He's got a particular problem,
17:32which is why I've moved this side of him.
17:33Oh, and I think he has, hasn't he?
17:36He's dropped one.
17:37He got a whiff.
17:41If a dog has wind problems...
17:44Just in case.
17:45..it's often caused by three common culprits.
17:48Important supplies.
17:51The first, diet.
17:53Now, interestingly, chicken and beef
17:56are the top two most common intolerances for dogs
17:59and one of the biggest signs of an intolerance for dogs
18:01is those very smelly rear-end,
18:04as you put it, bottom burbs.
18:06So, it'd be really handy to know
18:07kind of what are his go-tos
18:08and what are his absolute no-no's.
18:10Salmon, fishy foods tend to be better.
18:13Yeah.
18:13And the poultry probably tends to be the worst offence.
18:17Oh.
18:18Now, when I did a bit of digging,
18:19what I discover is that your salmon food for him
18:21is actually 50% chicken.
18:23Only 7% is salmon,
18:25and there is just as much chicken as there is salmon.
18:28Wow.
18:28The rest is unidentified meat.
18:31So, it might be the case that he's intolerant to chicken, right?
18:34And if we withdraw all of that from the diet,
18:36we might see an improvement.
18:38Reading dog food labels might help identify the offender,
18:42which could include chicken, beef, lamb, wheat or dairy.
18:46His gut is a bit unhappy.
18:48If it's not diet, it could be something else in their stomach.
18:52Some dogs have certain bacterias that are gas-producing,
18:57and so it quite literally could be the case that for Stan,
19:01he has bacteria, little bugs in his gut that go,
19:04yeah, you know what?
19:06I'm going to produce some gas.
19:09This can be sorted with a dietary supplement.
19:12So, this is a probiotic powder.
19:15We can introduce this and actually get his gut starting to reset.
19:20If neither digestion or food are to blame...
19:23I just want to watch how he's going to eat this.
19:26..then just like humans...
19:28He's very desperate for it, isn't he?
19:30..the ways Stanley eats could cause wind.
19:36Because he has a short nose,
19:38he's actually got restricted airflow,
19:40and so he's having to take in a lot of extra air
19:43in order to swallow and chew properly.
19:45..a common problem in bull breeds like Frenchy Stanley.
19:50Yeah, listen to that.
19:51Yeah.
19:52Yeah.
19:54So, let's have a look at this over here.
19:56This is what we call a slow-feeding bull.
20:00Right.
20:01A slow-feeding bull...
20:03There you go.
20:04..could decrease the amount of air your dog inhales.
20:08We're not hearing that sound from him as much.
20:11It's certainly helping Stanley.
20:13Yeah.
20:14You can't hear the air movement.
20:15Yeah.
20:16That was going on before, yeah.
20:17And will hopefully improve his eau de toilette.
20:20So, he's not going to be taken in such gasps of air now.
20:23Yeah.
20:24Which hopefully means that you would see less flat tones too.
20:28LAUGHTER
20:28Is that helpful?
20:29Yes, very much, thank you.
20:31Oh, I'm really glad.
20:32There we go.
20:33I was really impressed with the way that Stan took to the slow-feeder,
20:35so hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the bottom burps.
20:45While Stanley slows down,
20:48Graeme's rushed to Karsholt and Surrey
20:50to meet a tiny dog...
20:52..with a sizeable fan base.
20:54Crikey, how little is she?
20:56..and over 1.5 million views.
20:59She's wearing a gilet there.
21:02Well, I'm here to see a social media starlet,
21:04far more famous than the likes of me.
21:07Ooh, how fluffy is that?
21:09Get you.
21:09You're a good girl.
21:11Four-year-old Chihuahua Olive...
21:13Morning. Hello.
21:14..is on set for her latest shoot.
21:17Hello.
21:18Hello, lovely to meet you.
21:20Hiya.
21:20Nice to meet you, Jess, yeah?
21:21Lovely to meet you, yes.
21:22This is Olive.
21:23The famous Olive, hello.
21:25This is actually perfect timing.
21:27We were just about to film a social media video.
21:30Oh, right, OK.
21:31Charlie's going to help me with this, aren't you?
21:33You look more enthusiastic than him, I have to say.
21:35Charlie loves it, and so does Olive, doesn't you?
21:37You love it, do you?
21:38No. On you go.
21:41LAUGHTER
21:42Jess...
21:43I'm here.
21:43..who lives with her partner, Charlie...
21:45Wait, wait, wait, I need to be in position.
21:47..has made Olive the leading lady...
21:50Right, tell me when.
21:51..of over 100 social media videos.
21:55Yeah, go.
21:56I'll recognise this scene.
21:58LAUGHTER
22:00Did you like that?
22:02Yay!
22:02Did you like that?
22:04Well, you're having fun.
22:05Yeah.
22:05You love that.
22:06It is funny.
22:08It's ridiculous.
22:09LAUGHTER
22:11Why am I here then?
22:12What's the problem?
22:13The issue is, when we leave the house and other dogs,
22:16she's very reactive, she's quite aggressive.
22:20You'd be scared of her outside.
22:24On her socials...
22:26Good girl.
22:27..4-year-old Olive...
22:28Is it on?
22:29Yeah, say when.
22:31When?
22:31..is a model celeb.
22:36This was her first jumper for Christmas.
22:39This is giving Beyonce.
22:42You got a hat going sideways, honey.
22:45Good girl.
22:46Right, we're going to put it there.
22:47Leave.
22:48Leave.
22:49Great.
22:50That's perfect.
22:51Oh, Olive.
22:53But outdoors...
22:55..she gets no likes.
22:57Olive.
22:59Olive, no more.
23:00No more.
23:01Olive.
23:02Olive.
23:04Olive, no more.
23:06Olive used to come with us everywhere,
23:09whereas now it just feels really difficult because of this.
23:12And also, I feel like Charlie's slightly embarrassed.
23:16But she was the pram.
23:18It's ridiculous.
23:19You don't really come and walk?
23:21No, because she barks.
23:25Olive's outbursts...
23:26Calm down, Olive.
23:27Calm down.
23:28..make it impossible for Jess and Charlie...
23:31Let's calm down.
23:32..to spend quality time together.
23:36Going out, ruined by her bait.
23:38Jess's attention is on Olive,
23:40which then leaves our attention on each other...
23:45..not...not there.
23:49..olive.
23:50I just sit there on my phone.
23:52It's like third wheeling.
23:55Olive, no more.
23:56If Olive were to stop barking,
23:58it would help our relationship
24:00because I wouldn't be so fixated
24:02and worried about her.
24:05Charlie's friends aren't overly sympathetic.
24:09Six foot two man
24:10and he's six centimetre chihuahua.
24:12All right, you're involved in all the TikToks now, I see.
24:14I'm seeing you laying your head there,
24:16looking all cutesy-wootsy char.
24:17Big man, small dog.
24:21Oh, I hate it.
24:24Me and Jess have very different opinions on the dog.
24:28I see it as our pet
24:29and Jess sees it like our child.
24:32She's my first born, she's my soul mate.
24:35I think that's why she'll always be number one.
24:42Well, shall we go outside and I can see the problem?
24:45Yeah, absolutely.
24:45Let me just go and get the pram quickly.
24:47The pram?
24:51Perfect.
24:54Olive, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
25:01She does react.
25:02She does.
25:03This is the problem.
25:04Charlie, I see you standing apart a little bit
25:06and be like, I'm not with them.
25:08It's embarrassing, isn't it?
25:09We're not even walking a dog.
25:10Good point.
25:13To understand...
25:14Uh-uh, dogs.
25:15..how far Olive's outbursts...
25:18..are pushing the couple apart...
25:20Olive!
25:21Sorry, hello.
25:22Oof!
25:23..Graham takes them...
25:24God, dear.
25:25..for a cuppa.
25:28How come you ended up with a chihuahua, wasn't it?
25:30Jess was tunnel vision chihuahua,
25:32and I had no choice.
25:33And you were probably...
25:35Oh, there we go.
25:38It's just getting progressively worse.
25:41Oh.
25:42Did she get you?
25:42Yeah.
25:43Yeah, look.
25:44So bad.
25:45Olive.
25:46What the hell?
25:47She's calmed down now,
25:49but only because you're holding her.
25:50That's what I always have to do.
25:51That means we can't go out and do anything.
25:52Yeah.
25:53It's beginning to affect your relationship, yeah.
25:57What does this dog mean to you?
25:59Olive is my best friend and a baby all in one.
26:02Right.
26:03What does she mean to you?
26:04She's just our pet dog.
26:06And that's it.
26:07There's two sides to this family.
26:08There's two of you on that side and one on this side.
26:10Yeah.
26:11There's a wall between you.
26:12Yeah.
26:13Oh, what are we going to do, Olive?
26:17Olive is ruining every moment that they have together.
26:20You go for a walk, it's ruined.
26:21Cathy, forget it.
26:24Olive.
26:25And all of those things,
26:26the glue that holds a relationship together, you know,
26:28when you can't do those simple things,
26:31there's a danger things fall apart, you know?
26:35I'm not doing anything, Olive.
26:38Coming up...
26:39Are you after?
26:39Will Cody's family...
26:41I'm not coming in with the baby.
26:43...ever be reunited?
26:45Have they ever actually come past the door of this house?
26:47No, no.
26:47They've never been in.
26:49And Graham's waiting...
26:51When was the last time you were in a pub or a cafe
26:54and you forgot she was there momentarily?
26:57Never.
26:57...to reignite a romance.
27:00For dog training.
27:01Cheers.
27:05Oh, Olive.
27:06Olive.
27:06In Sorry...
27:07Oh.
27:08Did she get you?
27:09Yeah, look.
27:10Olive's public outbursts...
27:12Sorry, hello.
27:13..are driving a wedge...
27:15It's ridiculous.
27:16..between Jess and Charlie.
27:18Jess's attention is on Olive,
27:19which then leaves our attention on each other...
27:24..not...not there.
27:26Olive.
27:27To save their romance...
27:29Olive, Olive.
27:30..Graham's identified the route...
27:31What are we going to do, Olive?
27:33..of Olive's problem.
27:34Oh, my!
27:36Right.
27:37I think she's scared a lot of the time.
27:39That surprises me a lot.
27:42She's barking because she's trying to get rid.
27:44Yeah.
27:44She's like, I'm uncomfortable with this.
27:46Get it away from me, you know?
27:47And she is right across,
27:49because a lot of the time,
27:49you either turn the pram away...
27:51Olive, no, no, no, no, no, no.
27:52..or you pick her up and go...
27:55You might as well go,
27:56well done for barking at that dog.
27:58I'll give you a cuddle for it.
27:59Well done.
27:59So she's getting all the good stuff, ironically,
28:01when she's naughty,
28:03and when she's calm...
28:04Nothing.
28:05Yeah.
28:05Yeah.
28:06I get that she's kind of the baby of the family,
28:08but she needs to sort of stand on her own false feet.
28:12Yeah.
28:12Yeah.
28:12I agree.
28:14So it's training Jess as well, then?
28:16Oh, yeah.
28:16Yeah.
28:20It's surprising to hear that she's a scared dog
28:22and I'm the issue.
28:24All better.
28:25It's unbelievable.
28:27But, yeah, putting all of the pieces together,
28:29it definitely makes sense.
28:32Shall we all have a cuddle?
28:37You're so horrid.
28:41Graham thinks Jess's helicopter parenting...
28:44Here we are.
28:46..is fuelling Olive's fears.
28:48I brought you to a pub.
28:49..so he's booked a romantic meal for two.
28:52Because tonight it's Graham's doggy date night.
28:55Oh, perfect!
28:57..to make one very simple change...
28:59Amazing.
29:01..get Jess to ignore Olive's bad behaviour.
29:04Welcome, do take a seat.
29:05..and focus more on Charlie.
29:09If Jess can't get it right,
29:11I think we've got no chance of turning this around.
29:13What does that mean for their relationship?
29:17To find out...
29:18..a pink gin of lemonade and a beer.
29:21Graham will introduce dogs to the room.
29:24Cheers to dog training.
29:25Cheers.
29:26..at each stage of their meal.
29:29Right.
29:31Of course, though.
29:32Right.
29:33Come on in.
29:33And that's your table there, look.
29:35There you go.
29:36You're welcome.
29:37There you go.
29:37Both her fur baby and man want her affection.
29:42Take your hands away, come on.
29:43But can Jess resist comforting Olive...
29:46..to concentrate on Charlie?
29:53Oh.
29:53Yes.
29:54Good girl.
29:55You're giving a little tickle now.
29:56You are.
29:56Good girl.
29:57Good girl, Olive.
29:59See, that's what was missing before,
30:01because you never gave her a chance to ride through it
30:03and calm down, you know.
30:08Here's your sharing plates.
30:10Oh, look at this Olive.
30:11There you go.
30:12Will Jess and Charlie enjoy their meal...
30:14And another one.
30:15..mixing with another dog family?
30:18Enjoy.
30:18Amazing.
30:22There you go, let me take you to your table.
30:25Is this one here?
30:26Oh dear.
30:28By focusing on their food...
30:31There you go.
30:32..yet again...
30:36Yes, good girl.
30:37Oh, good girl.
30:38That was quick.
30:38Good girl.
30:40Amazing.
30:40Very quickly she just kind of went,
30:42what am I doing?
30:43Yeah.
30:44Good.
30:45Main course enjoyed...
30:47Hey, you've done that before.
30:48Hey, I'll tell you what, when the dog work dries up...
30:53..will dessert be as sweet?
30:56There's your ice cream sundae with...
30:58Oh, wow.
30:58..two spoons to share.
31:00..when a pair of doggy daters...
31:02..it comes with a double helping of guest dogs.
31:05..take a table.
31:07That's it, come this way.
31:11And that's your table just there, look.
31:13There you go.
31:16There you go.
31:19Yes, good girl, Olive.
31:22Before giving her any attention...
31:24There you go.
31:25..Olive's ready to make friends of her own.
31:28This is good, cos they're all saying hello to each other.
31:31So she can watch.
31:33..for the last four years...
31:35Isn't it, Olive?
31:36..Olive's reaction to other dogs...
31:38..made enjoying each other's company...
31:41..Olive.
31:43..impossible.
31:43..people are already looking at her.
31:46Huh?
31:48Lovely.
31:49When was the last time you were in a pub or a cafe
31:53and you forgot she was there momentarily?
31:55Never.
31:57Now, Olive is learning to accept furry company.
32:01You've done really well.
32:02Hi, Graham.
32:02Fantastic.
32:03..so Jess and Charlie can look forward...
32:06..to a happy family.
32:07..to putting the sparkle back into their romance.
32:12Hey, Graham's doggy date night went quite well, I rather thought.
32:16They can go out for a walk.
32:17They can go to the cafe or the pub.
32:18There's loads of things they can do.
32:20I think we've come a long way in a day.
32:32After playing Cupid, Graham's mission
32:34to keep the UK's dogs happy and healthy continues.
32:39As he answers a call from Jane, Chris
32:41and their furry boy Hector from Surrey.
32:45Hi, Graham.
32:46Hector, our English Cocker Spaniel.
32:48He has warts on his face, his body and his legs.
32:52Our question to you is how can we groom him
32:55without bleeding or causing him any pain?
32:59Graham's meeting Jane and Chris in Godalming.
33:02This is the place.
33:04..where he knows a world champion canine clipper,
33:07Kostin Stoyker.
33:08Nice to see you. How are you guys?
33:10..who's used to dealing with tricky grooming issues.
33:14Follow me, please.
33:15Good boy.
33:16So, what would you like me to help you with?
33:18Well, Hector has warts
33:20and the groomers don't always see them
33:22and they get nicked and they bleed into his fur
33:25and they get matted.
33:26So, we need to avoid the cutting.
33:28And the key of this is you need to tell me where they are
33:30so we can map them.
33:32So, you map the warts then?
33:33Yeah.
33:34It's really important to know where they are
33:36to avoid cutting the warts.
33:39Kostin has an easy way to show exactly where they are.
33:42I'm going to bring in the treasure map.
33:44Oh!
33:47Plotting Hector's warts on a body map...
33:49Oh, look!
33:50..gives Kostin and other groomers the visual guide they need.
33:54You have the head, you have the sides.
33:56..to avoid nicking them.
33:58So, if you show me where you know they are.
34:01We've got this one up here.
34:03Under his chin.
34:04And the ears, no?
34:06So, just one on the ear, yeah?
34:08Both you and your groom are checking for and mapping new warts...
34:12There's one...
34:14..just about there.
34:15I reckon it's a new one because it's only a little.
34:18..will enable them to cut around them.
34:21You've done that before.
34:21Not really, I just started grooming.
34:24And help identify anything suspicious...
34:27I don't know if you know about this lump here.
34:30Oh, so you know about it, perfect.
34:31..requiring further investigation.
34:34Good boy.
34:35..as Kostin learned from experience.
34:39We had a case where I had a lump on the belly.
34:42And the owner didn't know about his lump.
34:44He might be fat or maybe something else.
34:45So we sent him to the vet and had cancer.
34:49Oh, wow.
34:51So often, you're picking up on problems before owners...
34:54Yes, yes, exactly.
34:56Because us groomers, we always check everything.
34:58It's very important for us, you know, to see any problems.
35:01So we've turned to the groomers, it's a bit like an all-over body check-up.
35:04It's sort of expanded it more than just warts, hasn't it?
35:07Yes.
35:08My pleasure, always.
35:10Lovely to meet you.
35:11Lovely to meet you.
35:12We're really pleased that we contacted Graham.
35:15We found some really helpful and useful tips.
35:17And don't forget the trigger map, yes?
35:19Oh, Hector, warts and all.
35:21Yes, and I'm going to put a signature there later, yeah?
35:25Brilliant.
35:26Thank you, guys.
35:26We've never had a walk map before.
35:29This should save a lot of agony for Hector
35:31and make the groomers a lovely time for him,
35:34that he enjoys his day spa.
35:40Hector's haircuts should be more comfortable...
35:42Stop it! Stop!
35:44..but until Graham's fixed Cody's broken family...
35:47Cody doesn't have the relationship that she should have with Albie.
35:51..his week's far from done.
35:53Got it, I haven't got it.
35:54You kind of come in, like, it's just the way of years.
35:58Oh!
36:03Before Graham's week ends...
36:05Morning.
36:06..he's returned to the North East
36:08for unfinished business with St Bernard, Eugene.
36:12Ah!
36:14Last time...
36:15You do?
36:16..Cody won a battle of wills.
36:19Yeah, that'll do.
36:20Aw.
36:21..to take back control on walks.
36:23You've never done that before.
36:24Well, no, I'm a pro now.
36:26But...
36:28There's a mountain to climb.
36:30I'm not coming in with the baby.
36:32..before her sister and baby nephew can visit.
36:36I've got it, I've got it.
36:37You kind of come in, like, it's just the way of years.
36:39Graham hopes to get Eugene calm around the family.
36:42Steady.
36:43Oh, well done.
36:43It takes a lot to do that.
36:45It takes a lot to do that.
36:45By building on last time's success.
36:50I want to teach him to stay calm using the word that we used last time
36:54when we were out in the parks.
36:55You think steady?
36:55And he started to understand that steady, we need to stay calm.
36:59Good.
36:59Drop.
37:00So when we bring people in...
37:01Goodbye.
37:02..if he gets a bit excited, Eugene, steady, and hopefully his brain goes...
37:10..to help this sink in...
37:12I brought some cheese with me.
37:14..Graham has a cheesy treat.
37:16Twice as a cheddar, it's the only way for a thing.
37:18You don't need much, it's just a token.
37:20It's like good behaviour, reward.
37:23But can Eugene go steady...
37:25Good.
37:26..at home?
37:27Oh, blimey.
37:29He's going through my arms straight away.
37:31Oh, yeah.
37:31..to test his theory...
37:33He's actually nipped by my skin.
37:34..an outdoor item...
37:36..that gets this mountain dog climbing the walls.
37:42Very good. Hey, look, your man's back.
37:45If you unfurl it, let's see what happens then.
37:50Right, and just pause.
37:51Oh, here we go.
37:53Steady.
37:55Eugene.
37:56Steady.
37:59That's it.
38:01Good.
38:02Good decision.
38:04Good boy.
38:05That's good.
38:06I tell you what, why don't we up the ante?
38:08You do the telling this time.
38:10Yeah.
38:12Graham kept Eugene steady.
38:14Go.
38:15Steady.
38:16But can Cody...?
38:20Steady.
38:25Well, that's good.
38:27Great.
38:28Steady.
38:30Super.
38:31I'll have that.
38:32Good boy.
38:34Good.
38:35I'm amazed, to be honest, he's never actually done that.
38:36Completely different since the last time.
38:39Nah, it's a massive shock.
38:40What a turnaround.
38:43Graham's plan worked with a coat.
38:45Coat coming off.
38:46But if storm Eugene erupts with the family...
38:50Eugene?
38:50...there'll be a whirlwind to undo.
38:53Well, so far, really good.
38:55I can't believe how calm Eugene's been.
38:56But, let's see how Eugene is with Dad.
38:59He's got to remember to stay calm.
39:01Steady.
39:04Here we go.
39:07All right, yeah.
39:08All right, come on in.
39:10Come on.
39:11Steady.
39:13That's it.
39:14Hey, that's all right.
39:15You can come and say hello, but...
39:17Yeah.
39:18You okay?
39:19Oh, well done.
39:21Amazing.
39:22Eugene?
39:23Steady?
39:24Jeez, there you go.
39:26Good boy.
39:26There you go.
39:29Hey, that's not bad Evan, is it?
39:30All right.
39:32I never thought I'd say it and tell you the truth.
39:35Amazing.
39:37But Cody dreams of being in her nephew's life.
39:41Goodbye.
39:42And if Eugene's not a gentle giant...
39:45..she'll stay separated from her sister and baby Albie.
39:50Good boy.
39:51That's it.
39:53Yeah, you all right?
39:54Yeah, you all right?
39:55Yeah, you all right.
39:55Come and grab a seat.
39:58Eugene?
39:59Steady.
40:03Good boy.
40:04Very nice.
40:08Hey, what?
40:09That'll do, won't it?
40:11Why don't you grab a seat?
40:13Good boy.
40:15There we go.
40:17He's a clever boy.
40:19Steady.
40:20Good boy.
40:22Can I believe it?
40:24Good boy.
40:27It's a moment they never imagined.
40:31So calm.
40:32He's like a different dog.
40:34I think you could have a little cuddle with a baby now, you know.
40:36I've got the lead, just in case.
40:38Yeah, yeah.
40:39Unreal.
40:40Good boy, Eugene.
40:43What do you reckon to this, Evan?
40:45Quite difficult, to be fair.
40:46Like, sitting out with all my daughters and not together.
40:48Yeah?
40:49Especially with the grandkid, like, just lovely to say.
40:52Like, a little bit of a lump in me, so, to be fair.
40:54Have you really?
40:54Yeah.
40:55Yeah.
40:56Definitely changed my two daughters' lives, like.
40:59Definitely.
40:59I think it's really...
41:00It is a nice feeling to be able to come in and just chill out,
41:02rather than thinking, oh, God.
41:05For the last six months...
41:07No, no, no.
41:08Cody's been isolated.
41:10I'm not coming in with the baby.
41:12..from the people she loves.
41:17What are you looking forward to now?
41:19Basically spending more time with Alibi and Zoe.
41:21Yeah?
41:21Obviously, I've not been able to pick him up or anything
41:24since, well, he's been born, really.
41:26Good boy.
41:27There you go.
41:28In a heavyweight turnaround...
41:31Good boy.
41:32Come on, Eugene.
41:32Come on, Eugene.
41:33Come on.
41:34..Cody might become the doting aunt she wants to be.
41:37Come on.
41:37Did you go and say hello to Albi?
41:40..alongside her seemingly more saintly Bernard.
41:44I honestly didn't ever say this happening in a million years.
41:47It's an amazing feeling.
41:49Right.
41:49I shall leave you to enjoy some family time, then.
41:51Awesome.
41:52Enjoy. Thank you so much.
41:53Well, love.
41:54Chickas.
41:54All right.
41:58I've left them there, having a little chat,
41:59doing what sisters do with the baby.
42:01The dog's just calm on the floor.
42:02It's great, isn't it?
42:04And that's why I do this.
42:05It makes a real difference to people.
42:07A joke.
42:12In Car-Scholten...
42:14Good girl, Olive.
42:15Olive's making friends with other dogs...
42:18You're so high.
