00:0093.7 W.E.E.I.
00:01You can give us a call at 617-779-7937.
00:05As I said, there's two ways that you can contact the show.
00:08At least, I don't pay attention to any social media or anything else
00:12because it's just too much information at once.
00:15So my favorite place to get your input is either by giving us a call
00:19or you can go to the Odyssey app and press that little microphone button
00:22and leave us a message, which we end up playing later on in the show
00:24in our Bitch to Rich segment, or we might rename it later on.
00:28Who knows?
00:28That was something that just we tossed out there.
00:30I've got an idea for it.
00:30And we rolled with it in these early days of the show.
00:32Want to hear my idea real quick?
00:32What's that?
00:33The Rich and Ken with Ted hotline.
00:37Wow.
00:39That's it right there.
00:40No one can pronounce the name of this show easily.
00:44Well, that'll help.
00:45Rich, okay, what is the official name of the show?
00:47I think my last name, if it was Rich, Ken, and Ted, you know what I mean?
00:53It's Rich and Ken with Ted Johnson.
00:56Ted Johnson.
00:57I just think that makes the last name.
00:58You need the Johnson in there, though.
00:59I like that.
00:59You like the Johnson?
01:01Almost.
01:01Okay.
01:02All right.
01:02All right.
01:02RKT.
01:04RKT hotline.
01:05Right.
01:05If we had someone with a first name with an M, we could be Rectum.
01:08Go.
01:09It's, uh, this is, uh, Jackson.
01:11No?
01:11All right.
01:12Well, we'll keep working on it.
01:13We'll keep workshopping it.
01:13We'll try to think of some clever way to say it right, but the official name is Rich and
01:18Ken with Ted Johnson.
01:19Jeez, that's a mouthful.
01:21That's a lot.
01:21Just rolls right out.
01:22617-779-7937.
01:25Okay.
01:25So that was Scal talking about Giannis after, or not talking about Giannis, deflecting after
01:30Ken asked him.
01:31And, you know, I remember a week ago when we were all thinking that the Celtics were going
01:36to have an amazing round two against the Knicks.
01:41This is everyone.
01:41Everyone's dreamed of.
01:42Oh my goodness.
01:43Can you imagine what Causeway is going to be like?
01:45A real rivalry, a heated rivalry without the gay sex.
01:49But what we ended up getting was a crap performance of three, one come from behind victory by a
01:56team that looks crippled right now against the Knicks.
01:59And you have to reevaluate everything.
02:02You have to reevaluate who Joe Mazzula is.
02:05I mean, the guy choked last year, two 20-point leads blown during that Knicks series.
02:11And then this year, I mean, that starting lineup yesterday should have been a fireable
02:14offense.
02:15Like, right there.
02:16Oh, yes.
02:17But, you know, the holes of you, I was, I hated my life even when we won, just as much
02:21as I hate my life now.
02:23God, Joe Mazzula.
02:24The duality of life.
02:24The duality of life.
02:26Yeah, yeah.
02:26So, when you take a look at what this team is made of, and how they just got abused by
02:33Joel Embiid, and they had no answers to not only him, but anything in the paint.
02:40Maxie was getting everything he wanted.
02:42What do you do?
02:43Do you keep things as they are?
02:45Do you just kind of make a tweak here or there?
02:49Get another three-point shooter?
02:50Because God knows when the three points aren't falling, they have no idea what to do.
02:54Or do you go drastic?
02:57And as you said, Ken, earlier, Giannis is the name that you keep hearing going around.
03:02Absolutely.
03:02And guess what, Ken?
03:04You are not the only one.
03:05You know who Mark Stein is?
03:06Mark Stein, yeah.
03:07He is the male Diana Russini.
03:10Oh, oh.
03:10And only being an insider type of guy.
03:13Okay.
03:13How did he get the scoop?
03:15Yes.
03:15That's right.
03:16I have the clip here, Stiz.
03:18Insider.
03:18This is Mark Stein speaking on a show called Deals and Dunks, talking about what he is hearing about the
03:27Celtics and Giannis.
03:29Because they've created this flexibility for themselves when it looked like it was going to be really hard to do
03:34so, I feel like they're going to be able to make moves.
03:37There will inevitably be now people who bring back the do they break up Tatum and Brown, like that storyline
03:43will probably come back.
03:44And, you know, there have been some rumblings at various points during the season that the Celtics could be a
03:49stealth Giannis team and a team that potentially interests Giannis.
03:54So let's keep our eye on the Celtics.
03:55We know Brad Stevens is not afraid to make big moves and take big swings.
04:00So I think we have to be ready for just about anything with Boston.
04:04Okay.
04:06Is Brad Stevens known for making big swings, big moves?
04:09I don't know.
04:10Well, he got Porzingis.
04:11Porzingis, yeah.
04:12Those are big swings.
04:12I mean, yeah, that was a huge.
04:13Some of those moves are some of the greatest in basketball history.
04:16I'll pull that up.
04:17Drew Holiday.
04:18That was a big one.
04:19Okay.
04:19All right.
04:20I just feel like, okay.
04:20All right.
04:21All right.
04:21All right.
04:22It is fascinating.
04:24Would he do that?
04:25Because it's just been, they've been together for so long.
04:28They've had so much, you know, success.
04:31Like if you were to say the Steelers have success because they never have a losing season.
04:34I mean, they've gotten to a lot of, you know, championship games and they've won one.
04:39But at the end of the day, they've severely, I think, underachieved the Celtics have with
04:44these two guys.
04:45So is it, is this the time when you finally break them up?
04:49Now, the thing that I don't know is whether, because you said this to me, Rich, before we
04:53went on, they could keep both JB and JT and still go after Giannis.
04:58And get rid of all the, you know.
05:00Everything else.
05:01Everything else to give up.
05:02Ancillary pieces.
05:03Howard, you'd have to give up Hauser, Derek White, would be gone too.
05:07And a lot of picks probably.
05:08But would they take that, like to get rid of Giannis, would they take that?
05:13I don't know if they would.
05:14I keep, I keep thinking that the only way they would get him is if they got Jalen Brown
05:19in the deal.
05:20It depends what, what other teams are offering, right?
05:23So if, if, if the Celtics are only one dealing with them, it's kind of like the, the Patriots
05:27and the Eagles.
05:28Like, if you only have one team that's really in pursuit of, of Giannis.
05:32Well, Kevin O'Connor had speculated Atlanta might be a three-way team option where you
05:37would have a bunch of players.
05:38JB would go in that scenario and the Hawks would be involved.
05:43So it's, there could be a three-team trade happening here.
05:46There were rumors the Miami Heat might be interested a couple months ago.
05:49Same with the Knicks, same with Golden State.
05:51So I think there will be other teams interested.
05:52So you might be right, Rich.
05:54They might have to give up Jalen Brown to get the trade done.
05:56There might be seven or eight players that I would trade Jalen Brown for.
06:02And Giannis isn't one of them.
06:03He's not one of them.
06:04No.
06:04If Giannis was here and you still got to keep Tatum and Brown, then I'd be in.
06:10You clear the decks and bring them in.
06:12I would have no problem with that.
06:13And I know he's getting older, but he had a good year, even though they didn't make the
06:16playoffs.
06:17It was like 27 points, buttload of blocks.
06:20I mean, he's, we know who Giannis is and I know he's older, but my God, he would be perfect.
06:26To be able to do something in the paint.
06:28Just on days where the three isn't falling, you've got Giannis Antetokounmpo down there.
06:33Even if he plays 40 games a year, you're fine.
06:35Just get him to the playoffs and you're good.
06:38Yeah.
06:38It doesn't fit their style, guys.
06:40But it fits the big three.
06:41You'll admit that.
06:42If they do find a way to keep Brown and Tatum, don't you think there's some like Celtics mystique
06:45about the Byrd, McHale, Parrish.
06:48Yeah.
06:48And then, of course, you had.
06:49Yeah.
06:49Yeah.
06:49It's funny.
06:50The big three was such a thing there in the early 2000s.
06:54And now it's.
06:55They might be stuck in.
06:56Who can afford, right?
06:56You can't usually afford having a big three.
06:58So that's gone by the wayside.
