00:00Spread lines you need to know for a Tuesday here on the Sports Grid Network.
00:03The early line, Donnie and Joe here bringing that action and information to you.
00:07And let's get it started.
00:087 p.m. tonight in Motown.
00:10That's going to be the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Detroit Pistons.
00:13Line opened up, Joe, 3 1⁄2.
00:15You see the graphic.
00:16We're still sitting 3 1⁄2 at most outlets.
00:18There are a few outlets out there at minus 3.
00:20Total of this game listed at 2.15 1⁄2.
00:22A new series gets underway in the Eastern Conference.
00:25Detroit's the home team, Joe, the Cavaliers, and the Pistons tonight.
00:28What's the spread line for you?
00:30It's interesting, Donnie, because ever since this opened up, you know, 3.
00:34Then we saw it go to 3 1⁄2.
00:36Then we saw it get by down to 2 1⁄2.
00:38Now it's hovering around 3.
00:40But the total was real interesting because the total opened up right around that 2.13 mark.
00:46And that's been bet all the way up here.
00:49So they are expecting more points, not less points, apparently, than the opening number here.
00:55And this is all going to depend on which version of these two teams shows up here tonight, Donnie.
01:00Both coming off of Game 7s, right?
01:02Likelihood is we probably will see more offense than defense.
01:07But it's not like Cleveland has been great on the road offensively.
01:11And Detroit, if it ain't Cade Cunningham, who's it going to be here tonight?
01:16So there is a lot of intrigue and a lot of unanswered questions, I think.
01:20We'll learn quickly with this Cleveland and Detroit series.
01:24And it's going to start here in Game 1 tonight.
01:26Should be a close one, headed for maybe a long series.
01:29Last night, Joe, we had a monster favorite in San Antonio.
01:32They ended up getting upset out right there with a victory from the Timberwolves.
01:35Now tonight, we have the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the OKC Thunder.
01:39This line opened up around 14 1⁄2, and you see the graphic today up to 15 1⁄2 across the board.
01:44And that total listed at 213 1⁄2.
01:47The one thing we do know for the Lakers, LeBron James will be there.
01:49Austin Reeves will be there.
01:50But Luka Doncic, remember, Joe?
01:52Hey, he went to Europe, and he's going to be back at the start of the first round here.
01:56They're saying Luka Doncic isn't even on the court yet with any chance to even come back sooner than later
02:02at this point.
02:03Could this be a formality?
02:04But, Joe, what's that spread line for Game 1 over two touchdowns?
02:07Has a favorite here for OKC.
02:09I mean, listen, it's not.
02:11I mean, Windhorse is telling us that Luka's not even remotely close to a return.
02:17So that's interesting there.
02:21But then, of course, we're starting to hear now that they made it past Houston that, well, maybe not early
02:26in this series, but maybe closer to the back end.
02:29Well, what back end?
02:30This thing ain't going six, Donnie.
02:31Who are we kidding?
02:33It's likely not even going five here.
02:36So this is the biggest underdog.
02:38I think LeBron has been in 23 seasons on the court in the NBA.
02:42Well, that's what happens when you go 0-4 against the team and get blown out by an average of
02:4729 points per game.
02:49I don't know that this is going to work out, especially early on on the road.
02:54I don't know.
02:55This could be ugly early.
02:57Much like the Knicks were doing now to their last three opponents.
03:00I would expect OKC to come out firing here.
03:04All right.
03:04I need help with this next story here.
03:06And I'm not trying to sully a man's career and what he can't do big things.
03:09But let me read this Shamsharani tweet from yesterday.
03:12Just in.
03:12The Chicago Bulls are hiring Atlanta Hawks senior vice president.
03:16Bryson Graham is the franchise's new executive vice president of basketball operations.
03:21Sources tell ESPN.
03:22Graham spent 15 years in New Orleans before joining Atlanta last all season.
03:27Rising from an intern to a GM now becomes their top executive.
03:31So if I say, where have you been the longest, my guy?
03:34New Orleans.
03:35Yeah, that door's out there and you can validate your parking on the way out.
03:39I think this interview is done right now.
03:40But apparently that's what they liked in Chicago.
03:44Well, listen, you got to appreciate it.
03:47Maybe the thought process is, listen, you've seen exactly what not to do in order to run a organization.
03:54So I want you to take all those lessons learned here in New Orleans and Atlanta and apply to me.
04:00Or just don't do anything you did there.
04:03And we should be, we should be contending for championships, Donnie.
04:07Yo, it's like a handicap right at its wits end.
04:09Like you nail this handicap and go, you know what?
04:12I've been so cold lately.
04:13This pitcher is awesome.
04:14He strikes everybody out under strikeout prop because it doesn't make sense.
04:18I got to train something up.
04:19So maybe that does make sense.
04:20Hey, you were the franchise that drafted superstar players and ruined them.
04:24At every turn, couldn't make the playoffs, couldn't get any wins here.
04:27You're going to run the Chicago Bulls.
04:29Because again, it feels like the Bulls haven't had any victory since the Jordan era left.
04:32And that one little glimmer they had with Derrick Rose at his MVP blows his knee out in round number
04:37one against the Sixers.
04:38And they get bounced straight away.
04:39Chicago hasn't been the same since the end of the 90s playoff runs and championships with Michael Jordan and the
04:45Chicago Bulls.
04:45Evan Sider here with a tweet.
04:47The Magic's top target is coach Billy Donovan.
04:49While Orlando will make an aggressive push after firing Jamal Mosley, Donovan could stall another week or two to see
04:55how the Knicks do in the next round.
04:56See, this is what hurts teams right this, right?
04:59Hey, we really want Billy Donovan.
05:01He's like, dude, I'll take your job as a B-level here.
05:04But let me see about the good jobs opening up first.
05:07That's always a recipe for success.
05:11Yeah, you know, and I'm wondering if Michael Malone right now is like, wow, should I have really just taken
05:17this North Carolina job because he can probably go wherever he wants here?
05:22Yeah, you know what I mean?
05:23But hey, listen, it's Donovan makes the most sense, although I do think there is a little bit a little
05:31bit of history back here between.
05:33Don't forget, he was the Florida one, two national championships in Florida, and he was very involved.
05:39There were rumors that he was leaving Florida, going to Orlando.
05:42You know, there was there's been a long history dating back to 2007 with Billy Donovan and the Orlando Magic.
05:50But we'll see.
05:51It makes sense.
05:52I mean, they've got they got to get offense going in Orlando.
05:57And he knows how to do that.
05:58Don, if it's one thing he can bring, it's an offensive mindset to an organization.
06:03Yeah, but LeBron James, you want to say, hey, you want to coaching in your future?
06:06You might as well be the coach now.
06:08Why?
06:08Same age as both head coaches here in the Lakers Thunder Series, 41 years old and still playing, Joe, at
06:14a high level.
06:16Can't go wrong with that, right?
06:17I mean, it's listen again, at some point, Donnie, it's going to get, you know, they're going to hit a
06:22wall, right?
06:23Father time loses to nobody.
06:25But my goodness, you might as well milk it for everything it's worth.
06:29The question is, will there be a season when he's 42 is the question.
06:34All right, here's where I need some help again, Joe.
06:36You ready for this one?
06:37A Spurs executive said the team doesn't like to commit to wearing the same jerseys every game because players and
06:43fans get superstitious.
06:44Number one, that's stupid.
06:45But the Fiesta is back tonight.
06:48Now, understand this.
06:49The Spurs will not be allowed to wear the jerseys in the Western Conference Finals or the Finals, but they
06:54can wear them now.
06:55What archaic, stupid rules are we bringing out right now, Joe, in the NBA?
07:00When he said players and fans, was he actually talking about himself?
07:04Is he the one making those decisions?
07:06Because I don't think anybody cares.
07:08Just win the game.
07:09Nobody cares what uniform you're wearing one way or the other at this point, Donnie.
07:14Just win the game.
07:16And by the way, if your team thinks that that uniform is going to help you win it, whatever you
07:20got to do, but just win the game.
07:24By the way, Cinco de Mayo as well.
07:25Those Fiesta jerseys are fantastic.
07:27Spurs got some good color coordination that does work down there, but they can't wear the jerseys they want to
07:33wear.
07:33And then the NBA teams were like 75, you know, different jerseys in an NBA season.
07:38But once you get to the Eastern Conference Finals, that's where we stop the nonsense at this point here.
07:42How about the nonsense last night?
07:44The Timberwolves look like, oh, Anthony Edwards is going to be down for weeks at a time.
07:47By the way, Luka Doncic is also under the same thing.
07:49I'm going to come back sooner than later.
07:51Whoa, Ant-Man upgraded for last night.
07:53He's not going to be all that good.
07:54Drops 18 points, but they win.
07:56104 to 102 last night.
07:58Massive upset for the T-Wolves as they take the 1-0 series lead, Joe.
08:02Yeah, I'm kind of shocked on it because I really, I thought the number was already baked in for him
08:07to actually give it a go.
08:08Why would you have taken him off the, you know, doubtful list and made him questionable if you didn't think
08:14he had a real shot at going?
08:16But that line dropped to under double digits.
08:18I mean, it was as low as 9, 9 1⁄2 last night, Donnie.
08:21And you know what?
08:23Proved to be the right move because it looks like San Antonio, they looked more surprised he was playing than
08:29anybody else did.
08:31Yeah, how about that?
08:32Wemby, 11 and 15 and 12 blocks.
08:34Triple, double last night.
08:36As Joe pointed out, that marketplace there, you might be looking over on Calshi.
08:40Forget about the double-doubles and the points.
08:41How about a triple-double?
08:42They got it done yesterday.
08:43And also, take a look at Julius Randle.
08:45We talked about getting 20-plus points in that game.
08:47Cash in that as well.
08:48The Knicks and the 76ers wasn't even a game.
08:51Right from jump, early on, it was close.
08:5333 to 25 at the end of the first quarter.
08:55Second quarter was a blowout.
08:56And then the Sixers just didn't have their legs.
08:59137 to 98.
09:00But again, should have probably saw that coming.
09:02Saturday night, massive game.
09:05Game number seven, Boston.
09:06New York's waiting.
09:07Quick turnaround.
09:08The Sixers probably never even went home.
09:09Just took a train down to New York and got blasted in game number one.
09:14Yeah, it's, you know, not even so much that as it is that it really looks like this Knicks team
09:20offensively is firing on all cylinders.
09:23And that makes them very dangerous when Bridges and company are starting to find the rhythm.
09:29Cinco de Mayo, hour number two.
09:31It goes hand in hand.
09:31It's what we do.
09:32And also, Donnie right side, Joe Renier.
09:34We welcome in Kevin Walsh because we got to get some news information, notes, some picks for tonight.
09:39And also, make sure you catch game time decisions tonight.
09:426 p.m. to 7 p.m.
09:43Right here on the Sports Grid Network.
09:44It's Kevin, it's Gabe, and a whole lot of fun and picks here.
09:47Kevin, how do we feel in this Cinco de Mayo today?
09:50I feel great.
09:51I feel excited.
09:52I mean, playoffs are just off and running here, man.
09:54NBA, NHL, we're getting a lot of good games, I feel, on a pretty consistent basis.
09:59Baseball's heating up as well.
10:00Pretty much, if you are associated with the Yankees, you're probably favored to win some award, which I can't be
10:05mad at.
10:07Hey, Aaron Judge here, but let me understand this, Kevin.
10:09Game number two tonight in the association, 8.30 starting.
10:12By the way, NBA, I mean, you're listening.
10:16You're listening out here.
10:17I saw idiots on Twitter yesterday going like, who would put a game on at 8 and 7 and then
10:228.30?
10:22What, are you kidding me?
10:23The rating's probably going to go through the roof.
10:25Tonight, you got a 7 and an 8.30.
10:26That includes the Lakers and the Thunder.
10:28This is genius tonight.
10:29But, Kevin, hear me out on this.
10:31Luka Doncic, he went, this guy's running.
10:35And Miles, after three days, after tearing his hamstring, he's going to be at game number one of series number
10:39one.
10:40News report comes out yesterday.
10:41We ain't seen Luka in weeks, man.
10:43This guy, we don't even know if he's in the Baltics, if he's out in Serbia, or if he's actually
10:47swimming somewhere in Tahiti at this point.
10:49The Lakers getting 15 and a half points tonight with LeBron James.
10:53Kevin, let's start Lakers Thunder here.
10:56Yeah, I mean, it is just a completely different animal than what we are supposed to get in the second
11:04round of the NBA playoffs.
11:05But it's a two-prong attack of OKC are in their own stratosphere when it comes to pricing.
11:16And the Lakers are still missing what's supposed to be their best player in Luka Doncic.
11:23Because these numbers are not that different than what Oklahoma City were legging against Phoenix.
11:30I think the thing with Oklahoma City and what we've seen from this basketball team over the, you know, past
11:36few postseason runs,
11:38one of these first two games, they probably win by 30.
11:43And I don't mean, like, the exaggerated, like, oh, they won by 30, like, they won by, like, 19.
11:48No, I mean, win by 30, like, minus 29 and a half on the card, win the wager, one of
11:56the first two.
11:56I think the Lakers know that you're trying to figure out which is the game where they give it their
12:06best shot.
12:07I'd imagine it's this one here tonight off the extended rest having last played on Friday, if memory serves, against
12:18the Rockets where they close that series out.
12:21I, like, if there's any world the Lakers are ever going to pull off the stunning upset, I think they
12:29need to win this basketball game.
12:31I think they can cover what is obviously a big number for a real reason.
12:38It's like there's some value in the money line on OKC, too, Kev.
12:42Let me ask you about the other one as well there, because Cleveland and Detroit, two teams coming off of
12:51Game 7 wins, I find this fascinating here.
12:55Obviously, Cleveland, Detroit better expect a little bit better offense, or at least some consistent offense from Cleveland, not exactly
13:03what Orlando brought to the table.
13:05But then again, Cleveland on a road has not been great so far.
13:08So what are we expecting here in this series?
13:10Yeah, it's, I do like how you set it up, because I feel as if a lot of people are
13:16only kind of talking about the first half of like, oh, Pistons struggled with the Magic.
13:22Boy, are they in trouble.
13:23And I feel like I'm on this island like, what about, Cleveland were bigger favorites against Toronto than the Pistons
13:30were against the Magic.
13:32The Pistons came back from 3-1.
13:35Franz, injury or not, don't tell Nicola Jokic it's easy to come back from 3-1.
13:39The Cavs haven't, the Cavs had three games in Toronto, booked as favorites in all three, lost all three.
13:49Obviously, they don't have home court advantage now in this series here with Detroit.
13:55Season series was 2-2 with these teams, the sample size.
13:59How relevant is it?
14:00No one, no one's ever healthy, right?
14:02Like, Donovan Mitchell missed two of the games.
14:04Harden missed two of the games.
14:05Like, so it just kind of goes back and forth in that direction here.
14:09One of the main things that I am looking for, though, is how Jalen Duran plays in this series.
14:14He finally had a postseason double-double in Game 7 with 15-15.
14:20He had some monster games against Cleveland.
14:25They played one another like twice in a week.
14:28He had 33-16 in the first one and 24-14 in the second.
14:35If Duran plays like a second All-Star, I feel great about Detroit in this series.
14:42Let's go back to the games yesterday, Kevin, because the Philadelphia 76ers spirited effort in Game 7.
14:47Win that in Boston.
14:48The emotion just overflowed.
14:50Finally got over the hill.
14:51And then less than 40 hours later, you've got to be on the road to take on the New York
14:55Knicks and Madison Square Garden,
14:56where they were rested and ready.
14:58First quarter, second quarter, didn't go to the Sixers' way.
15:00Second half, it's like, hey, guys, just don't get injured at this point.
15:03We'll see you in Game 2.
15:04Now, we always talk about the zigzag theory in the NBA.
15:07And the Sixers aren't going to be as bad.
15:08And maybe they had a meltdown.
15:09But is this finally the Knicks that we were expecting playing ball over the past couple games
15:14and looking forward to where they just bounce out the Sixers in a gentleman's sweep?
15:17Or do you believe that the Sixers just really were behind the eight ball in Game 1?
15:21And that was a mirage, and this series should be much closer here on out.
15:25Yeah, so I think definitely the Philly part is true in that they were behind the eight ball.
15:32It took a lot to make that comeback against Boston.
15:35And it's why Nick Nurse, you know, pulled it midway through the third.
15:41You don't see a lot of coaches do that in the postseason.
15:44It does beg the question if it really would have been ridiculous to bench and beat, rest and beat.
15:50Now, I shouldn't say bench, rest and beat for the basketball game going in.
15:55However, what the Knicks have done in the last three, the comparison I made to someone,
16:01UConn, a couple of seasons ago in the NCAA tournament,
16:05where we and books are playing catch-up and we never get there.
16:12By the time anyone's like, I guess they're just that much better than everybody,
16:16they're raising banner two out of two.
16:19Like, the Knicks are not just winning basketball games.
16:23They are massacring, you know, their opponent in their last three games.
16:30But what's interesting is, and I'm sure you guys have seen it,
16:33Game 2 line comes out, books are like, yeah, we were pricing in rest, six and a half.
16:3739-point win, number move towards Philly.
16:41Crazy stuff here.
16:42We'll talk to Kevin once again tomorrow, but catch him on Game Time Decisions tonight,
16:456 to 7 p.m. right here on the Sports Grid Network.
16:47In the game, and away you go into the games.
16:49We'll be back after this short break.
16:57Easy over for you, Joe.
16:58Last night between the Philadelphia 76ers and those New York Knicks,
17:01where do we head tonight?
17:02NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball?
17:05Take it away.
17:06Yeah, well, I'm going to go to the NBA again, Donnie.
17:10And I am sorry, Laker fans, but this is not going to be pretty tonight here.
17:17At home, OKC, rested, ready to go here.
17:22And there is nothing LeBron James or Reeves or Marcus Smart or anybody else is going to be able to
17:30do
17:30to, you know, try to avoid getting absolutely smashed like the Sixers did last night.
17:37And I see it happening here.
17:39This is what OKC does at home.
17:41I think they'll win this one like they won all four during the regular season by close to 30 points
17:47a game.
17:48I think this is going to be much of the same.
17:50You're a 15-and-a-half-point favorite, Donnie, at this round two of the NBA playoffs for a reason.
17:56And they're going to show the Lakers why they're that big a favorite tonight.
18:00Hey, Prediction Markets Edge on the early line.
18:03May 5th, time to get down to the business here.
18:05We got you for a half hour, a new way to invest your money.
18:07If you haven't been using the predictive markets, this is the show for you.
18:10We ease you into the process, Joe, making some good choices, Sonny writes out in the show.
18:15And here it's just how we do it, Joe.
18:16We help the people with the information they need to know.
18:20Yeah, and there's a lot of it here, Donnie, because we've had a lot of movement,
18:25a lot of news regarding big-time players, which have been moving the markets here.
18:31So a lot to get into.
18:33How about this?
18:34Now, the old question is going to be like, you know, you have FanDuals and the DraftKings
18:37and Bet365, legitimate legal sportsbooks.
18:39Yeah, they operate a little bit differently.
18:41And now the leagues are starting to weigh in, Joe.
18:43And this is from Front Office Sports.
18:44Leagues are weighing in on how prediction markets should be regulated.
18:47The CFTC has 1,541 submissions to review from NBA, Major League Baseball, Cal State Polymarket,
18:55and others before proposing new rules.
18:58Now, we know when markets start to get regulated, people that have no understanding of any of these
19:02markets are the ones that tend to regulate those, Joe.
19:05So what do you think maybe some changes would be coming to fruition in these marketplaces?
19:11Listen, I mean, it's so funny, Donnie,
19:14because most of the people participating in these markets are doing so with the sports side
19:20of the market, right, Donnie, those sports markets right now.
19:25But, you know, of those people that are making that up,
19:28most of them really don't have an understanding of exactly what the prediction markets are all about
19:33because they've been so used, Donnie, to working with sportsbooks and going that route.
19:39So there is, I think there's a learning curve happening right now.
19:43So I do think it's going to be obviously skewed to those that are very familiar with markets
19:49and contracts and how it works.
19:52But I do think the field will be leveled over the next coming year or so.
19:57I don't think the regulators are going to do anything about it one way or the other.
20:01How about this tweet, Joe, from the Wall Street Journal?
20:04And just like when you see like, oh, the top 1% of the tax bracket pays all the taxes
20:08for the remaining, let's just say, 86% or whatever it might be.
20:11Wall Street Journal says the analysis found 67%, Joe, of polymarket profits go to just 0.1% of the
20:19accounts.
20:19While most traders are in the red, most Calci users do lose money,
20:23which means there are some whales hitting this market hard for profit.
20:29Same thing.
20:31It's markets, right, Donnie?
20:32But I do think there's an understanding of a certain few in the markets.
20:37And I think there's a lot of people getting involved right now in the prediction markets
20:42that haven't quite – it's a different way to approach it, a different way to look at it here, Donnie.
20:47And, again, I think over time we'll start to see this number increase exponentially here.
20:54It's just a matter of understanding exactly what these markets do and how to best approach them.
21:00And it's different if you're used to sports books than what the prediction markets are.
21:05They're two totally different things.
21:07Let's approach these prediction markets, Joe, and get it started in the association tonight.
21:11Two games on tap.
21:12Game number one, 7 o'clock start.
21:13That's the Cleveland Cavaliers taking on the Detroit Pistons, the favorites in this game.
21:17According to Calci, with a 58% chance to win, that's the Detroit Pistons.
21:22The contract, Joe, to the yes is listed at $0.59,
21:25which means a $100 investment for the Detroit Pistons to win this game outright would pay back $170.
21:32If you feel that that underdog, they can win.
21:34The Cleveland Cavaliers, $100 investment, Joe, pays back $2.39.
21:38Game one tonight.
21:40Yeah, to me, I think this is a market along with the series market, Donnie, that I would get in
21:47on Cleveland now.
21:49Because even though it's a one versus four, we've got experience working here.
21:54I think we've got more offensive punch with the Cavs.
21:58I think the thing with Detroit and what their bugaboo is going to be is their offense.
22:02If Cade Cunningham doesn't provide it, where's it coming from?
22:05They don't have a legit second pitch that they can rely upon, unlike the Cavs, who have great perimeter shooting.
22:13You've got Mitchell.
22:14You've got Harden.
22:15They can fill the bucket up in a hurry here.
22:18So now is the time.
22:19You don't see it often.
22:21Now is the time to hop on the Cavs.
22:23Getting money, I think, in this one and then in the series as well, pretty darn good price with the
22:29Cavs right now.
22:31Jalen Duren, last game against the Magic in that closeout scenario, went for 15 and 15.
22:35If you feel he can put up 15 points again, right here on the Cousy marketplace, that's trading at 60
22:39cents right now.
22:40So $100 investment will pay back 167 for Duren to get 15 plus points in this game.
22:46Lakers Thunder, game number two, Joe.
22:48I know you like this one.
22:49It's going to tip off at 8.30 p.m.
22:51If you're just looking at who's going to win the game, well, Cavs has got it for you pretty easily.
22:55An 86% chance that Oklahoma City does do this.
22:58So if you feel you want to take them, $100 investment, Joe, only pays back $115.
23:05But if you lay the 16.5, you're actually bumping that price point up and getting a little plus money.
23:10That $100 investment pays back $209 if you take them with the spread here.
23:14Lakers Thunder tonight, big-time spread.
23:18Yeah, big-time spread.
23:19And again, I think these games are going to be ugly.
23:22And not that you're going to put all your eggs in the basket of what happened during the regular season
23:27because a lot of those games were mixed in match as far as who's playing and who wasn't playing with
23:33the Lakers and OKC.
23:35But the one consistent factor is that styles make fights.
23:39And the OKC style of crashing the boards, pushing the ball up, this is not a good match for the
23:47Lakers here.
23:48And I think at home, asking OKC to do what they've always done, which is dictate tempo and control the
23:56boards,
23:56they're going to do that here.
23:58And it's likely going to end up being a very lopsided affair.
24:01So I would only look at laying the points here tonight.
24:06You're going to have to lean on LeBron James because he's going to have to be your Mr. Everything for
24:09the Lakers.
24:10If you feel they can get at least 20 points tonight on the Kelsey Marketplace, that $100 investment pays back
24:14$179.
