Description:
Empress Chung (Korean: 왕후심청) is a 2005 animated feature film, produced in both North and South Korea and directed by Nelson Shin, and based on a famous Korean folk tale about a daughter who sacrifices herself to restore her blind father's eyesight. It became the first film to have been released simultaneously in both North and South Korea and was featured at the 2004 Annecy International Animation Festival. It was also recognized with several awards in Korea.

Empress Chung simply vanished, with no home release ever produced. The only things related to the movie found online is the trailer, sound test animation, some screenshots, and a collection of children's books. In October of 2025, various marketing materials for the film were sold on Yahoo Japan, including a complete copy of the film that was given to Japanese distributors, and a partial copy that was given to English-speaking distributors. These were purchased by YouTube user "Fileast堂", and restored by users Notelu and Msozod by cleaning up and combining the two sources. The full film was uploaded to YouTube by Fileast堂 on December 31, 2025.

Now I upload it here to the archive, so no weird things happen that gets it removed from YouTube and lost again. Better safe than sorry. I will find a way to encode the subtitles later.

Empress Chung belongs to AKOM Production Co. and SEK Studio.
