00:24question being asked by the amalgamated workers union as daily rated workers still have not
00:29received salary increases despite the union signing off on the agreement back in 2025
00:35bernessa cutting house more i recall vividly the minister both minister of finance and minister
00:44of local government clearly saying that they have provided funding in the estimates so that the
00:53corporation can put on the increase on the workers wage this has not been done and we have determined
01:02to demand answer from someone who could really say to us why this has not been done back in april
01:10of
01:112025 the cpo and the amalgamated workers union signed off on a five percent agreement for the period 2020
01:192022 2022 which included the consolidation of cola one year later port spain city corporation daily
01:27rated workers are without back pay and still have not had a salary increases affected the minister of
01:34local government was playing the budget debate what they provided for while it was not expected to have
01:42money for the sd for the m back pay it was clear they provided money for the increase in wage
01:51and this has not been done so i am simply saying something is fundamentally flawed something is wrong something not
01:58smelling good
01:59prentice says the corporation claims that it has not received the requisite funding although monthly paid workers did get their
02:07salary increase what we are being told by
02:12the poor spain corporation based on what would have took place in january for which you would have used finances
02:20instructed for by the finance minister
02:24to pay the public servants they are saying that there is a challenge on their hands as it relates to
02:33the funding if there was to do the same for the daily paid
02:37they are saying they are challenged with a situation that will then have the daily paid not have finances to
02:46carry them through the financial year
02:47so at this juncture the corporation is saying they don't want to repeat what they classify as a mistake for
02:57paying public servants out of the wage bill and at this juncture they are falling short as it relates to
03:06the wage bill
03:09we are saying this is an injustice in the worst way prentice for the notes that other unions
03:15such as tutor and the psc signed after the amu but yet have seen the fruit of their agreements he's
03:24warning the powers that be against undervaluing corporation workers they are already doing a job that is thankless people don't
03:33appreciate it until it hit so much that affect them
03:37when garbage start remaining all over the place then when garbage start remaining all over the place then let us
03:41understand the workers that carry out this work sanitation work in this country
03:45how essential and how important these workers are the union has requested a meeting with minister of local government khadija
03:53main and the date has been set for the 14th of this month
03:57we will hold fast as 10 days from today we will hold to the 14th meeting we will see whether
04:05or not between now and over the next few days whether or not we get a response or see a
04:12response somewhere in the media by both the finance minister the minister local government and we will judge based on
04:20that and then plan a strategy for the way forward as it relates to how do we treat the
04:27and deal with this renosa cutting tv6 news in response border spain mayor jenwa lane explains that while the corporation
04:35was given the green light to implement the new agreement the corporation is still not in receipt of the funds
04:41we received correspondence from the cpo we received correspondence from the cpo last month with a directive to implement the
04:49new collective bargaining agreement between the amalgamated workers union and the cpo
04:56we have not received sufficient allocation to pay the back pay and increased wage rates for delirated workers we did
05:05make an application for the mid-year review last year for an increased allocation so that we can pay this
05:12obligation we did not receive it coming out of the mid-year review
05:15we also made a submission for the budget that was read in october of 2025 we also made a submission
05:23for the budget that was read in october of 2025 for allocation to pay the increased wage rates and back
05:27pay for daily rated workers at the policy incorporation and we did not receive the increase in our allocation we're
05:36very hopeful that our submission for the upcoming mid-year review will be viewed favorably
05:43are we receive the increase in our allocation that we require
