00:00that his ministry has been trying to contact the owners of the Trinbago Express but they are in
00:06hiding as many of their customers have been waiting for several months to get their goods
00:10which were shipped from the United States. Minister Satyakama Maharaj fielded questions
00:16from the media on the matter at an institute of chartered accountants of Trinidad and Tobago
00:20conference of the Hyatt Regency today. They're not the only one. We've had complaints from other
00:26companies. I think these people have misjudged the cost and the costs are higher than expected
00:33and they ended up now cannot pay to cover their costs so they're hiding and I think that's the
00:42bad part. I wish they would come out and say something because the ministry has been trying
00:46to call, right? I'm not necessarily bad people. I think they did bad business, right? But they should
00:54own up. They should own up and come up and tell the people something because these are poor people
00:58who are trying to put food on the table but in the small business, right? And they lost their money.
01:06The trade minister says the time has come for a small claims court to be established in this
01:11country to deal with such matters. I don't think it should be a police matter. I don't know.
01:16I don't think it's criminal. I think if people are grieved, they can go to court. I don't know if
01:26they want to, right? But sometimes you get worked in business, you know. You run a little business.
01:33It's sad. It's very hurtful because it's small people. I don't know if it's worth it fighting legally,
01:39you know, because it means going to court and it's a small matter. And I don't know if we have a small
01:45claims court for that, you know. It's just unfortunate. I think it needs to be a small claims court
01:51because there are a lot of people being aggrieved by that.
