00:00Allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Ho, Ho.
00:05We are going to be introducing ourselves as Trinidad and Tobago,
00:08because as I've said, we've been sleeping for 30 years.
00:11So with the help of the good Jay-Z, we are introducing ourselves to the world.
00:18Works and Infrastructure Minister Jolene John as she began the feature presentation
00:22at the launch of the Trinidad and Tobago revitalization footprint,
00:26also called the TNT Global Hub.
00:28Prime Minister Kamla Pesad-Besessa delivered the featured address.
00:32Our projects will not be white elephants or illusions of grandeur.
00:40They will be grounded in purpose, built to produce real results.
00:45To ensure this, I am establishing oversight and governance committees,
00:52as mentioned by the Minister of Finance and the National Budget.
00:54The first committee will be chaired by the Office of the Prime Minister
00:58to oversee project and capital allocation,
01:02to examine our national priorities and rank them from a development perspective.
01:08The Prime Minister said the second team will be the Economic and Resilience Council
01:12and the Economic Development Board,
01:15which will guide diversification, shape policy,
01:18and monitor the key levers of the local economy.
01:20That budget or first budget, a roadmap, which charts the way forward for next fiscal year.
01:27And the question that recurs is where will we find the money?
01:32Where will we find the money?
01:33I told you then and I tell you now, we will find that money.
01:36And that is why we are rolling out these projects together to advise you,
01:42so you and your various organizations that you can help us find money
01:48that will bring money for investment,
01:50but will give you money to return back to your own country,
01:54back to your own organization.
01:55So we welcome you here today.
01:57The presentations by the Prime Minister and the Infrastructure Minister
02:00were sales pitch to the private sector leaders who attended the event
02:04and the potential international investors who are watching the live stream locally and abroad.
02:09Minister John outlined some of the key projects to be implemented
02:12in the revitalization blueprint.
02:15We are talking about decentralization with respect to our governmental activities,
02:21moving government from being so concentrated in Port of Spain,
02:25but in the east, in the west, not in the west, in the east,
02:28in central and a little bit in south, all of that.
02:31So the overall benefits, we are going to be upgrading our utilities,
02:38and this is exactly to scale, ladies and gentlemen, right?
02:42We are looking at the port city in the east.
02:45This is the invader's bay, so we are moving east.
02:4825,000-person capacity convention center.
02:52And there are also plans for East Port of Spain under the new UNC-LAC government.
02:56See lots. We have not left out anybody.
02:58We are talking about, again, the industrial park there for free trade zone
03:03because it has a proximity to the port.
03:06People can come off, do their manufacturing, etc.,
03:10the value added, and just take it back to the port for shipping out,
03:15and that will save on the cost.
03:17TV6 News data sought some clarification from Minister John when she spoke with the media.
03:23This one in terms of communities, Minister.
03:25So, for example, consultation with communities.
03:29So, for example, East Port of Spain, see lots.
03:31You will never...
03:32I worked at HCC for a number of years.
03:34I was chairman of UNICOT for a number of years.
03:37I never sent people out to do consultation.
03:39I went myself.
03:40So, all of these projects, as we are about to impact communities,
03:44you go out respectfully with the consultation.
03:47I'll be there leading those consultations.
03:50The Wilson infrastructure minister said the potential investors who attended the event
03:53were given a QR code with which they could immediately submit their plans
03:57to be part of the TNT revitalization plan.
