00:10Summers are brutal with the heat.
00:13It'll melt your shoes, your skin, it'll tear you up for sure.
00:18If it's too hot outside, the bad guys don't want to go out and commit crimes.
00:22When the nighttime comes, the freaks come out.
00:26Put your pants off!
00:28When that's undone, people think they can hide the bad stuff in the dark.
00:31This is the I don't believe in Facebook.
00:34One team, one family.
00:37We always pull together.
00:40Stand by your back!
00:41What the f*** am I in handcuffs for?
00:45It's very dangerous.
00:46Backup isn't always closed.
00:50It's not an emergency.
00:52You're gonna kill me.
00:54Assaults, robberies, shootings.
00:57It's lawless out here.
00:58It's gonna get hot tonight.
01:00A little bit of spice is always good.
01:01Stop having sex.
01:02Put your jeans on.
01:04Be in the wild, wild west, Tucson.
01:07It's the witching hour.
01:08Don't tap out on us yet, okay?
01:31Usual common practice for me, I like to just check license plates.
01:34You'll never know if, uh, you'll end up finding something weird.
01:39So, this guy's slate is showing suspended.
01:45So, that is definitely a violation.
01:47I'm just gonna pull him over right now.
01:49Now, he's just swerved into a parking lot.
02:01Hi, so I'm Deputy Poole with the, uh, Sheriff's Department.
02:03Always the way I'm talking to you right now is because, uh, license plate you have on the back
02:06was telling me that the, uh, plate is suspended for some reason.
02:09Do you have your license for registration?
02:11Hopefully I lost it, bro.
02:13Okay.
02:14How are you doing, buddy?
02:15Hey, doing all right.
02:17Sun's down.
02:17It's getting cooler.
02:18So, you know, it puts me, it puts me in a good mood, okay?
02:21Okay, man.
02:21What is your name, sir?
02:24Any alcohol, any drugs, or anything else tonight?
02:26All right.
02:29All right, we're just gonna walk right here.
02:31All right, might I just pass you in real quick, make sure you don't have anything, okay?
02:34It's the Wild West, man.
02:35I can never tell nowadays, okay?
02:36So, I'll have you just stand right here facing me, okay?
02:39So, important things to remember for this test, make sure you watch your foot at all times.
02:42Ready?
02:42Go ahead and begin.
02:45Watch your foot.
02:50Go ahead and stop.
02:52It's hard.
02:53It's hard to keep your balance right there, man.
02:56Close your eyes.
02:58And start.
03:00He performed very poorly on every sobriety test that I gave him.
03:03I observed that he's sweating profusely.
03:06His pupils are dilated.
03:07His eyes are watery, red, and bloodshot.
03:10The impairment that I'm seeing tonight, I don't suspect is as a result of alcohol.
03:14I suspect it's because of drugs.
03:17Could you just remind me of your name one more time?
03:21Okay, what's the last four of your social?
03:22Honestly, I don't know my memory.
03:24How old are you?
03:2637.
03:27And you don't know your social?
03:29Not my memory.
03:30I'm sorry, man.
03:31All right.
03:32Go ahead and turn it up and put your hands on your back for me.
03:38You are lying to me.
03:40You know that?
03:42How come you're not telling me who you really are?
03:46So, yeah, let's just pretend that I know who you really are.
03:50Okay?
03:51So, in that reality, how come you don't want to tell me your real name?
03:54Because I have a warrant.
03:55Okay.
03:56Well, now let's be honest with each other, okay?
03:57What's your real first and last name?
04:00Okay.
04:01So, what's your warrant for?
04:06Okay.
04:07I knew you were lying to me from the get-go, man.
04:09Because you know the real was just in jail recently?
04:13Okay.
04:14Are you related?
04:15Okay.
04:18So, what was your reason for taking his identity?
04:20Were you trying to get out of trouble?
04:22You understand how serious of a crime it is to take somebody's identity to avoid jail time?
04:27Okay.
04:28Well, you know now.
04:29Okay.
04:29How much coke have you done today?
04:34Okay.
04:35You're sweating profusely right now.
04:37Your eyes and your performance and everything else is telling me something different, okay?
04:41I was just nervous.
04:43I'm nervous.
04:43I just didn't want to go to jail.
04:45Okay.
04:45Well, if you told me your real name, we probably would have had, like, a different outcome.
04:50You understand that?
04:52Okay.
04:53Any drugs, anything I'm going to find on you?
04:55Okay.
04:56How much weed have you smoked today?
04:57I haven't smoked.
04:59Okay.
04:59But you just happen to have this in your pocket just for giggles then?
05:02It's a weed, babe.
05:05When I'm checking his license right now, it's telling me that his license status is even suspended too
05:10because of a previous DUI.
05:14At this point in time, okay, you are under arrest at least for, you know, failing to provide me truthful
05:18name, okay?
05:18As well as assuming the identity of another person, okay?
05:20Are you going to charge me for that?
05:21A hundred percent, yeah.
05:22That's what happens when you lie to cops.
05:23You go to jail.
05:25See, because, like, the biggest thing is you don't have that big a scar like your brother has right here.
05:31Yeah.
05:35At any point, did you have any remorse at all?
05:37At any point, did you want to tell me the truth?
05:40Okay.
05:40Okay, so I'm also going to be charging you tonight for DUI as well, okay, in addition to the identity
05:45theft stuff, okay?
05:46So I'm going to have you sitting in that car over there.
05:49He turned what could have been just a simple misdemeanor now into a felony right now because he's lying to
05:55avoid jail time.
05:55He's assuming somebody else's identity, providing false information, in addition to discovering he has a warrant for his arrest, as
06:03well as his license status being suspended for DUI.
06:06And I suspect that he's under the influence of possibly cocaine.
06:11All right, oh, you all right?
06:14You're taking a nap?
06:16Okay.
06:17So your warrant's not even extraditable?
06:19No?
06:19No.
06:20So I just lied for nothing?
06:22Pretty much.
06:23How does that make you feel?
06:24It makes me feel like a ****.
06:26All right.
06:33In the span of one hour, one drug driver, removed from the road, charged with two felonies.
06:40I was just genuinely curious at what point in time he thought he was going to get away with everything.
06:47I've had many instances of identity theft before.
06:51We need to be on our toes.
06:53We need to be vigilant.
06:58Theft is rampant right now.
07:00You can't go in a store and not see somebody shoplifting.
07:05And we have to get serious about prosecuting these repeat offenders.
07:10Out here in the desert, we have a lot of low-light neighborhoods, not a lot of streetlights running through
07:15those neighborhoods.
07:16People think that they're able to move around completely unseen, undetected.
07:19The low-income areas, it's very constant where people are stealing and just trying to get ahead in life.
07:28Because when they start making those mistakes and committing those crimes of theft, burglary, robbery, whatever it may be.
07:35As I kind of drive into the district, that's when I start looking for crime occurring.
07:51I don't know, what is the location of your emergency?
07:54A couple of weeks ago, a guy stole all my tools at my house.
07:57And you think that the person's back in the area?
07:59Yes, I just thought the guy trying to steal him on the next street of my house.
08:04He's talking a white male, wearing a black shirt.
08:07And I think he was wearing jeans.
08:08And he has like a horseback.
08:11This guy told the dispatch that he had made a report about this guy that stole a bunch of tools
08:17from him.
08:18I guess the guy came back to either steal more stuff.
08:21Sounds like the guy that stole the stuff is a white male.
08:27Wearing a black hat, black shirt and jeans.
08:29We're going to go check out the park and see if he's over there.
08:34Hey, come here.
08:36Let me talk to you for a minute.
08:38Everyone male, black over blue.
08:40Everything all right?
08:41I'm good, but I just thought I'm waiting to call to my mom.
08:44I told him to go on the way home.
08:45She said, just wait.
08:46I'm homeless.
08:47I just bet he got into town.
08:48Okay.
08:49But I don't know where her house is, and I'm waiting for her to come.
08:52Do you have your ID on your man?
08:53I don't.
08:54I hate that.
08:54Can I tell you for a minute?
08:55Want to call the police was home?
08:57Yeah, and they said that he might be doing some weird stuff, so we're just making sure.
09:00I'm doing some weird stuff?
09:01Yeah, we're just making sure.
09:02I can fuck up.
09:02Okay.
09:0526.
09:09Am I being arrested?
09:10First of all, you're not being arrested.
09:11So why am I being detained?
09:12Let go of your stuff.
09:13Why am I being detained?
09:14Because of the drug care failure in your hand.
09:15That's why.
09:16All right.
09:17See, but I'm not being arrested.
09:18Why am I being detained?
09:19This is against the law, right?
09:20You know that, right?
09:21Okay.
09:21You know it's against the law, right?
09:22It's not against the law.
09:23Absolutely.
09:24All right.
09:25We'll sort it all this out in just a second, man.
09:27I'm not doing nothing against the law.
09:29And I ain't got no warrants or nothing, so y'all are being hella aggressive and way out
09:32of line about this, okay?
09:34And I know my rights, okay?
09:35You guys are treating me like I'm a criminal, dog.
09:37This is wrong, bro.
09:39Stop pushing on me.
09:40I'm not going nowhere, dog.
09:41You're hurting my hand, dog.
09:43You're the one that's tensed up, man.
09:44Just relax.
09:45I'm not tensed up.
09:46You are tensed up.
09:48You won't feel my other hand.
09:49He's over here twisting my up and down.
09:50This is the ridiculous stuff, bro.
09:52You're all right.
09:53You're going to show up.
09:53I'm dead, but y'all are the ones acting like I'm a criminal.
09:56You're being arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia?
09:58What was that?
09:58Crespassing and possession of marijuana.
10:00Hang tight, man.
10:06They're going to bring the original reportee over here so that they can see the subject that
10:11we have detained.
10:12We call this a show up.
10:14We'll just be sitting in a patrol vehicle so that they can have a clear visual of the
10:18suspect, and they can confirm for us whether or not that's the person that was stealing stuff.
10:27Yeah.
10:28Yeah.
10:29They did end up just getting their positive ID on our suspect, so that's always nice.
10:37You're being a right now, and it's a wrong, bro.
10:44So the initial report referenced this outstanding suspect was that he had actually committed
10:49a theft about a week prior where he'd stolen approximately $1,000 worth of power tools from
10:54our victim here.
10:55That same victim spotted the suspect again in a nearby neighbor's yard attempting to steal
11:00a bike from that yard.
11:01When he tried to confront the guy, he ran off to the park here, which is where deputies were
11:04able to locate him.
11:19Knowing that you were able to fully service that member of the public that needed our assistance
11:24does give you a pretty fulfilled feeling and in a very, very quick manner.
11:28You know, it didn't have to take, you know, a week of investigation or, you know, months
11:34or something like that.
11:36It is a really great feeling.
11:37You don't always get to have it, though.
11:54Tonight's been quite quiet, but I've definitely seen how a quiet night can go from 0 to 100
12:00in an instant.
12:03That car looks completely blacked out from there.
12:19He's a, that was a single, it's a car stunt.
12:22Get back in the car now.
12:24Get back in the car.
12:31Turn the car off.
12:33Put your hands out the window.
12:37Why are you trying to get out the car?
12:42Keep both your hands out the window.
12:46Sir, I swear to God, I was not trying to jump out.
12:49I swear to God.
12:50Get out.
12:52Keep both your hands out the window.
12:53Get out.
12:55Sir, I have no weapons, no nothing to go.
12:58Get out.
13:01Sir, I only jumped out because I just...
13:03You got anything on you?
13:05Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.
13:08Sir, I only jumped out because I just scratched my damn car.
13:14All right.
13:15Get over there and stand back there by my car.
13:17Can I just look real quick?
13:19Good.
13:19Good.
13:20Good.
13:22Oh.
13:24Don't walk in the road.
13:25Take my road.
13:27So let me explain to you why I pulled you over.
13:30As soon as you left that neighborhood back there and started flooring it, you were completely
13:33blacked out from the rear.
13:34And I've been trying to catch up to you since before I turned onto this first initial road.
13:39Were you even aware of that?
13:40I was not aware of that.
13:42Have you had anything to drink tonight?
13:43Beer.
13:43Just one beer?
13:44I had more than one beer.
13:46Okay, how many beers have you had?
13:48I had more than one beer.
13:49Okay.
13:50So my next question is, would you be willing to do some field sobriety tests?
13:53Absolutely not.
13:54No?
13:54Cool.
13:55Put your hands behind your back.
13:56You're under arrest for DUI.
13:56Okay.
13:57Oh, you...
13:59You don't have to be rough.
14:01I'm complying.
14:02I'm complying.
14:11I'm complying.
14:12I guess his car got stuck when he pulls over.
14:15He goes to get out the car.
14:17Stuff like that is like indicators that you're either going to get into a shooting or somebody's
14:21going to run.
14:22He kind of turned his body towards me, which is why I drew my handgun and pointed it at
14:26him and gave him commands to get back inside the car.
14:29I can tell he's heavily intoxicated.
14:31Doesn't want to do field sobriety tests.
14:34So based off the driving behaviors, him not realizing the lights were off, him kind of
14:39swerving a little bit inside out the lanes, his slurred speech, the strong odor of intoxicants
14:44from his breath and the way he was immediately losing his balance as soon as I got him out
14:49of the car.
14:49There's just telltale signs that he's under the influence.
14:58He's got a freshly opened beer right there in the center console.
15:01I didn't get in the car because I hit that ramp and I was in the rear of my car.
15:06Okay.
15:06But you do understand, it's no weapons, no drugs.
15:10Okay, but let me explain something to you.
15:12A completely blacked out car from the rear and as soon as I pull it over, the driver
15:15trying to hop out.
15:16If you were a cop and you don't know if you have drugs or guns, you wouldn't think that's
15:21a little suspicious too?
15:24Come on, come on.
15:27I'm sure you've seen the videos on social media where the guy jumps out of the driver
15:30seat and starts shooting at the car.
15:32I've seen both sides.
15:33Exactly.
15:33So now you understand.
15:35Honestly, I've seen both sides.
15:36Okay, but as soon as you were cool with me and I got you out of the car, the gun
15:39went
15:39right back into the holster, right?
15:41Be good, be good, be good.
15:42All right.
15:43Damn, bro, I stand by the corner and I'm just guilty of trying to go digging against some
15:51You're under arrest, okay?
15:53You're under arrest for aggravated DUI.
15:54The reason it is an aggravated DUI is because within the last seven years, you've had two
15:58prior arrests for DUI.
16:01You will be taken down to Pima Addict Detention Center.
16:03We'll speak to a judge in the morning.
16:35Where's your emergency?
16:37Hi, I'm traveling on West Valencia.
16:40I just got in a hand run.
16:41Someone crashed into me.
16:42He told me to pull over and he set off.
16:43He's in a truck.
16:45I'm following him.
16:46He's speeding.
16:47He's trying to escape from me.
16:49He's going way over 80 and the road is 45.
16:53Okay, well, I don't want to put yourself in any danger.
16:55Do you want to pull over?
16:56I want to make sure that I get this guy.
17:05So it's a vehicle hit and run.
17:08She's saying a U-Haul hitter and it's taking off, but she's following it.
17:16It is a U-Haul.
17:20They're off.
17:23Staying for further behind the truck.
17:26Take it off.
17:33Hi, what's going on?
17:34You got any weapons in the vehicle or anything?
17:37You do have weapons?
17:38I just have my arm move right now.
17:40Just don't grab for it, though.
17:41Oh, yeah.
17:41What is it?
17:43Sir, don't grab for it.
17:47Don't reach in for it.
17:48Just tell me where it's at.
17:50Okay, don't reach for it.
17:51Why would you reach for a gun?
17:53I'm not.
17:54Okay, come stand over here.
17:55So why didn't you stop?
17:57For what?
17:57You hit that vehicle over there.
17:59That's why she's...
18:00So you didn't realize you hit a vehicle?
18:03Okay.
18:04Do me a favor.
18:04Go stand in front of my patrol car.
18:06Can you stand with him?
18:08Don't let him go back in the car.
18:09He has a gun right there on the thing.
18:10Just hold this for a second.
18:11I'm going to see what she has to say.
18:12Cool.
18:13And ask him about the Yuhan stuff,
18:15because he's saying he didn't know he hit her.
18:19Ma'am, so where did he hit you?
18:21In front of the Circle K that he rear-ended me,
18:23and I rolled down my window.
18:24I pulled over to the curb.
18:25I said, hey, can we talk about this?
18:27I was like, okay?
18:28And he was like, yeah, go, go, go.
18:29Oh, so he knew he hit you.
18:31He's dead.
18:32He did the dash.
18:33So she says that you said you were going to pull over,
18:35and then he took off.
18:36What's the deal?
18:37No, I didn't say any of that.
18:39Okay, how long have you had this Yuhal?
18:40It's like yesterday.
18:42Okay.
18:43Your license is suspended.
18:45You're not supposed to be driving.
18:47Why do you have a truck?
18:48Well, obviously I'm moving.
18:50Okay.
18:50Well, I don't know that.
18:51I'm just asking you.
18:52Well, I wouldn't have a Yuhal to be joyriding in it.
18:55You'll be surprised what people do.
18:57So he's just going to get a citation for hit and run
19:01and then for driving off suspended.
19:03You guys, somebody?
19:04Is there a way to get my phone?
19:06I'll make a call.
19:07Yeah.
19:07Is there someone that you can call to come get it?
19:10Yeah, I could call somebody.
19:12Your friend?
19:12Yeah.
19:13Hold on.
19:13There's a gun in the car.
19:14Why are you letting you go back over there?
19:19I'm trying to get in the car real bad.
19:21Who?
19:21I think that you.
19:22I know.
19:23I'm trying to get away from you.
19:24Why?
19:24Because I don't like police.
19:26You don't like police?
19:26Not really.
19:28He pushed us.
19:29I almost rear-ended someone else.
19:30Like, it was almost a pileup.
19:31And he for sure said, like, he knew he pulled.
19:33Yeah, he waved at me and he pointed.
19:35And I said, are you sure?
19:36And I was pulled in the side on the curb.
19:38And I said, are you sure?
19:39Let's go right here.
19:40And he said, yeah, yeah, go, go, go.
19:42He's going to get cited for a hit and run.
19:44The fact that he hit you and took off was just illegal, right?
19:47Yeah, that's crazy.
19:47All right, yeah.
19:48He doesn't have a valid driver's license.
19:50So I'm assuming that's probably why he took off.
19:54Still, you can't do that.
19:55You can't hit somebody.
19:58Her car didn't have any damage, just like the little scratches.
20:01I think she was more mad because of the principal.
20:15Not to sound cliche, but it is nice to help people.
20:19It is like something different every single day.
20:22I have two little girls.
20:25My youngest is very wild, so I can see her being a cop.
20:30Because she's so interested in it.
20:32She always asks me every day, what did you do at work, Mom?
20:35I would encourage her to do whatever she wants, whatever makes her happy.
20:39My significant other is also a cop, so she sees her mom and her dad.
20:55This is the sheriff's department.
20:56What's the emergency?
20:58I'm the manager of the AutoZone.
20:59Some guy just ran out with a big air pump.
21:02It's a big lime green box, so somebody sees him.
21:05He's wearing a baseball cap and a dark gray t-shirt.
21:10Okay, I got to call him, please.
21:11He should be up there shortly.
21:15That's a theft.
21:17Somebody stole a compressor.
21:19It's going to be a Hispanic male wearing a dark gray and light blue shirt with a baseball hat.
21:26He's carrying a green box.
21:43The suspect may have changed his clothes.
21:45We're not too sure.
21:49Oh, looks like we found a backpack.
21:50Oh, look at that.
21:52Oh.
21:53Here's the hat.
21:55It's a gray shirt.
21:55It has to be that dude in the white.
21:57They changed.
21:59It has to be one of them.
22:02Hey, bud.
22:03Get me a pair.
22:03Put your hands down, bud.
22:07All right, bud.
22:07So you're being detained, all right?
22:09Mm-hmm.
22:10You got any weapons on you?
22:11Oh, yeah.
22:12There's a knife right there.
22:12Just a knife?
22:13I'm going to take it off for you.
22:14I'm going to take a seat.
22:17Actually, let's go to this one.
22:19There we go.
22:20There we go.
22:20There we go.
22:22Anything in there that belongs to you?
22:24Anything in there?
22:25All right.
22:26What about that compressor?
22:28Where's that from?
22:33Oh, he has a warrant.
22:36He has a warrant for shoplifting.
22:37What a surprise.
22:40So two items of clothing were located in the bag.
22:42It was a black hat and a gray shirt,
22:44and those were the items that the reporter described
22:46that the suspect was wearing.
22:49So we got the compressor back,
22:50and they're taking it back.
22:52And he has warrants,
22:54so he's going to go to jail.
23:00I like to catch thieves.
23:02You have the hardworking family
23:05who's paying using their last penny,
23:08and then you have these thieves
23:09who just come in and steal,
23:11and then prices go up,
23:13and I just have a thing.
23:15I don't like thieves.
23:28911, what was your emergency?
23:30This car was coming maybe 100,
23:32120 miles per hour.
23:33It looked like a rocket just went by us.
23:38Oh, oh, look, look.
23:39Over there, over there.
23:40Whoa.
23:42Okay, so you don't see the vehicle anymore?
23:44It's in the bushes.
24:02We just got a real call about a vehicle collision.
24:05They described a gray older Ford Air sedan
24:08going about 120 miles per hour,
24:11crashed into some bushes,
24:12so we're going to head over there.
24:15First thing we want to do is make sure
24:17that there's no significant injuries
24:18with a crash at speeds like that.
24:27Is this your car?
24:29Yes.
24:29You feel any injuries or anything?
24:31Just a couple of cactuses when I got up.
24:34Okay.
24:35What happened?
24:36So when I had stopped at that stop sign.
24:39Yeah.
24:39I came over here.
24:40I came around like 60 miles per hour,
24:43and I jumped over that bump right there.
24:45Okay.
24:45And I had spun this way,
24:47and then I overcorrected,
24:49and I got to do care of you.
24:51Gotcha.
24:53So how much have you had to drink tonight?
24:55I had a drink about two hours ago.
24:57Do you remember what it was?
24:58It was a margarita house mix.
25:00Okay.
25:01I just want to determine whether or not
25:03you're safe to be traveling on the roadways, man.
25:05I see your speed coming up here.
25:07It looks like you were going pretty quick
25:08to blow through that stop sign,
25:10lose control right there.
25:11You look really lucky.
25:12You don't look like you're injured at all to me,
25:13so that's great,
25:14but it definitely could have been worse, man.
25:16All right.
25:17I'm going to walk you through some field sobriety tests.
25:19Yeah.
25:19Are you all right?
25:20What's going on?
25:27I'm just having a rough night, sir.
25:30You got a lot going on here.
25:32I mean, if it helps, man, your lady's here
25:34after we get all done with this and stuff like that,
25:36I'll let you talk to her,
25:37and you guys can work on whatever
25:38you guys got going on, all right?
25:45All right, so I'm just going to have you
25:46stand straight up if you can.
25:47I'm going to have you put your feet together,
25:48arms down by your side, all right?
25:50I'll have you stare at the tip of this pen, okay?
25:52You're going to use your eyes and your eyes only.
25:54Do not move your head, okay?
26:06Yeah, I'm 26-ing.
26:10So you've been pretty calm
26:11for this whole thing, man?
26:12All right, so we're going to be pretty calm
26:14with you as well, all right?
26:15Out here?
26:16At this time, you are going to be
26:17placing a rest for PUI, okay?
26:19We're going to put your coast in the front,
26:21as long as you stay, yeah,
26:22as long as you stay calm.
26:23We're going to try to get this
26:24all completed out here
26:25so that you can be on your way tonight.
26:27Any weapons or anything on you, man?
26:29Any knives, bombs, grenades hidden somewhere?
26:32We always got to ask.
26:34All right, you're good, man.
26:36Do you think you should have been driving
26:38with the amount of alcohol
26:39that you have consumed?
26:40No.
26:41On a scale of one to ten,
26:43with one being completely sober
26:44and ten being extremely impaired,
26:46where do you think you are?
26:48Four.
26:50Maybe five.
26:52There's another deputy here.
26:53He's a department qualified phlebotomist, okay?
26:56I'm going to speak with him shortly.
26:57The next step in this would be
26:59getting a blood draw from you.
27:01Will you consent to the test?
27:04Yes.
27:06My name's Deputy Castles, all right?
27:08I'm a qualified phlebotomist.
27:09I'm going to try to get it done
27:10and get you on your way, okay, man?
27:13I already know it's going to come up
27:14with alcohol, maybe weed.
27:17Okay, well, that's not for me to determine, man.
27:21Definitely got some of the telltale signs.
27:23Got a little bit of an odor of intoxicants.
27:26An intoxicated person like this individual
27:28is going from calm, cool, collected
27:31to kind of getting really emotional,
27:33starting to cry a little bit.
27:34Sometimes maybe it's reality setting in.
27:37I'm surprised I didn't like those cars
27:39because it doesn't worry.
27:41Okay.
27:41Yeah, man, that's super lucky.
27:43Coming through there, how that thing dips down, man,
27:45he could have hit one of these power poles
27:47or something crazy.
27:49You're all set, man.
27:51Yeah, no worries, man.
28:02You know, miraculously was uninjured from that collision.
28:07From the looks of it and the damage to the roadways,
28:09it looks like he was going, you know,
28:11over 100 miles an hour.
28:14It looks like that's the second DUI case
28:16that he now has in less than two years.
28:20So hopefully he kind of has a bit of a wake-up call
28:23from that crash.
28:24Yeah.
28:46It's like that.
28:47I'm justhouse.
28:48Let's see whatад is a quick move.
28:48I'm on the road right now,
28:50and there is this gentleman
28:52that almost died in a car accident.
28:54I saw a gun and I went down there.
28:54he's literally almost stopped in the middle of the intersection some vehicles oncoming traffic
28:59was almost hit up i'm gonna get this okay he took off with the driver's door open
29:07you guys need somebody quick
29:12he's better get on the three weeks
29:14you can't get it quick
29:20i'm just wanting to an erratic driver we don't know if he's intoxicated or having some type of
29:26medical episode i'm really scared because he's just going without stopping he's doing a u-turn
29:31oh my god you really have to get somebody out here quick because this could be dangerous
29:37so we're going to see if we can locate him just to make sure there's not an emergency situation going
29:43on we don't want a collision to occur our reporting party's following behind him
29:52this will be our guy right here actually 602 i'll be behind the vehicle i-10 and i'll post 262.
30:02just continuing to respond doesn't seem to notice that i'm behind him
30:07pressure needs breaking now falling on the shoulder
30:14hey sir hey how's it going deputy carter sheriff's department we're stopping out with you because
30:21you've been driving all over the road you seem kind of confused on where you're going and your
30:25vehicle doesn't have a license plate on it okay is this your car yeah you have a license on you
30:38okay i got you go ahead and step out for me
30:43do you have a cane or a walk or anything just off to the side right here
30:50how far from home are you can i see that real quick oh you're about 10 minutes out
30:54where are you where are you going i can't have you walking down the freeway man
31:01no i'm not going to have you stay with your car right now i'm going to have you stay right
31:03here
31:03in front of the truck once everything's squared away if you're good to go man we'll cut you loose
31:10okay well deputy's going to take you home okay because you can't drive right now all right we
31:17can't let you get back on the road you had too many close calls all right you almost caused a
31:21few
31:21accidents so we can't let you drive right now i've never had an accident i got you you can get
31:26in
31:26touch with your family and when they can help you out you can come get your car it's gonna still
31:30be
31:30right here okay we'll most likely be submitting some uh forms to the dmv uh to have his driving
31:38privileges reviewed and possibly have him uh retest to make sure that he's actually able to drive
31:43properly he seemed completely oblivious to the multiple collisions that he almost was involved in
31:57working for pima county is it's pretty cool i think my style of policing is is definitely a
32:04reflection of my upbringing out here and seeing the different struggles um i think it's helped me a lot
32:11to develop a lot of long-lasting rapport with the community i definitely don't try to be two different
32:17people you know inside and outside of work outside of work you know i'm i'm spending time with my
32:23family with friends and stuff but you know when you come to work you're still the same person
32:37911 where's your emergency like to report a four-wheeler driving erratically out here
32:42on valencia road by casino del sol i think he's intoxicated it doesn't have any lights and he's
32:47almost hit me going against traffic it's a dark colored atv there was uh just a report of a atv
32:54driver causing a bit of a scene so we're just gonna be checking to see if we can locate the
32:59vehicle
33:02hey can i get your social from you don't give me that lie dude my picture comes up every time
33:06i've been in county and my parents brain with you guys what's the next slide that you're gonna say
33:12was the last time i was in trouble like i told you i came out of the desert i wasn't
33:15on the road
33:16look you'll see my tracks you'll know it he's stating that he came from the desert area that
33:21he wasn't driving on the roadways at all so we're gonna see right now if the reportee that called in
33:27that vehicle has any additional information that can help clear this up for us
33:31i got my career trimming on what's going on here
33:38hello hey this is debbie carter with the sheriff's department we're just calling about that atv you
33:41reported earlier were you able to see the driver at all maybe his late 20s early 30s or something
33:47like that i think he had like a hat on but i wasn't i can't be sure all right sounds
33:52good man i appreciate
33:53it all right it sounds like it was more closer to probably a juvenile now we've got a more clear
33:57description a little bit of education man anytime you cross over a road to get to somewhere right
34:02you're subject to the same laws right right you had to cross right there where the lights at
34:07right that's right that's where i cross if you're crossing over county roads which you did to get
34:11here right you're subject to the same laws all right i'm just i'm letting you know what's up
34:16right man we're not here messing with you i got a real call saying that somebody was driving around
34:19you're right here i came straight from my house to get something to eat came across the road that's
34:22fine but somebody calls in gives us this intersection i heard somebody on a bike going
34:25up and down but it wasn't me all right so now you know that we're not messing with you okay
34:28we don't
34:28just pull up and talk to random quad guys all right man all right all the pushback from you though
34:33is the thing about it is you guys see me every day on this thing yeah i never ride it
34:36i don't think
34:37we've ever i don't think we've ever talked no we haven't because you're probably one of the new
34:40sheriffs that just got pulled you no i don't know i've been here for years i've been here since 36
34:44that's fine i'm just saying i'm just saying if we're always crossing paths and i've never talked
34:48to you that kind of lets you know that i'm not messing with you right okay all right i'll let
34:53you go on
34:53your new way but if you're going to be driving on roads out here and we're going to be contacting
34:56you
34:56then yeah get your stuff sorted we'll leave it at that all right all right yeah
35:05so we sent him on his way i'm sure he was glad about that he wasn't too happy to be
35:10making contact
35:10with us in the first place so it ended okay you know i educated him on a few things uh
35:15in regards
35:15to him operating his quad on the roadways and letting him know he's he's subject to the same laws as
35:34you know i've been with the pimi county sheriff's department for a little over six years now i love working
35:47midnights you know there's a lot of
35:50dangerous people that like to commit crimes at night and that's the kind of people i like to go
35:56search after
36:19we've got a report of a shoplifting just drive around see if we could find the guy
36:29uh 145 we've got eyes on the uh west side of the family dollar in the uh ravine hey sheriff's
36:36partner
36:36brother let me talk to you
36:41what you doing sleeping you sleeping yeah you got any weapons on you no all right
36:49well we just had somebody do some thieving next door i ain't doing that no that's fine man it might
36:54not be you but we're gonna check it out just because he was last seen heading this direction
36:58you went running that way okay
37:07you said he's all man running right now yeah do you know what he was wearing um he was in
37:11i think black
37:16do you mind if i just have you done real quick okay all right you're good man have a seat
37:28yeah so
37:29i initially checked that the back of the family dollar working eastbound and then as i'm coming
37:34back he's just laying there with the back against concrete so i'm just gonna trace back and see if
37:40there's something that's back there all right what is this let me go to the other side of this tree
37:50that's a lot of snacks there we go
37:55oh i could see the blue shirt with white spots as described by the clerk and this was laying exactly
38:01where i had seen him common thing is to strip down after you do whatever crime you do right change
38:06your
38:11appearance
38:11your transfer on your back
38:15let me see your shoes real quick
38:18i'll show you what they do all right i mean not born yesterday man right same shoes same sweatpants the
38:29only thing he did was he took his shirt off and just kind of used it as a bag to
38:32hold all this stuff
38:34the shoes matters because almost a hundred percent of the time when somebody commits a crime they
38:38don't have time to change their shoes nor does anybody really think about bringing in a second pair
38:42of shoes to change into you i don't know why people decide they want to steal not very good at
38:48it we
39:04usually end up catching them
39:06hey it's 682 on west will you make me at large please okay thank you being at large essentially means
39:11we
39:12can go from uh beach two and three which are our residential rural areas to beat one which which
39:19is our more metro populated area where we border with the city a bit more there's just a lot more
39:24going
39:24on in beat one for the most part on most days the vehicle in front of us is showing some
39:32signs of
39:32impairment it's swerving a bit in its lane we're just gonna have to pull it over
39:44you made a pretty aggressive lane change having a little issue staying in your lane
39:51okay have you had anything to drink tonight ma'am
39:57all right just give me one second she seemed like she was honestly making up her story as she
40:04was going along i'm not smelling a strong odor coming from her but uh we'll perform a hgn
40:11and see what her eyes look like follow the tip of my finger with your eyes
40:19all right ma'am have you been drinking at all tonight i don't think okay i understand you say
40:24you don't drink however some of the things i've observed is telling me different so i'm just really
40:30exhausted i take sleeping all right here took a half of the sleeping pill and i'm really mental
40:36i promise you i don't drink i was at home midnight these children uh messaged me the kids said
40:43do you mind giving us a ride okay should you be taking those and driving well i just took a
40:49tiny
40:49amount but should you be taking those and driving no i'm just gonna have you sit back here for now
40:57it could be a drug dui or maybe this is a simple mistake either way she shouldn't be driving
41:04so we we have to address this i've never had to do it i never went to jail you don't
41:09have
41:09a criminal history you don't seem like this is going to be a ordinary thing for you right so
41:15because of that instead of giving you i'm going to request that the mvd redo your driving test to
41:22make sure you are okay to drive you said you have a fiance right can he come give you a
41:27ride perfect you
41:28can go ahead and step out now i feel like she is potentially impaired however there are prescription
41:34drugs and drugs and she isn't abusing them bad as her driving behavior really was it wasn't necessarily
41:40dangerous and on top of charging her for dui we'd also be charging her with felony endangerment because
41:47she has a 15 year old and two other miners in the car and that's a real hammer for someone
41:53that seems like
41:54they just made a mistake when taking their meds she won't be getting arrested tonight and more
42:00importantly we will be getting her off the road safely
