00:11the wind direction is changing so we've got to get out of it because if that mum wakes up we're
00:28in trouble as soon as she woke up it was like go time for most of us the idea of
00:35being eaten by wild
00:36animals feels impossible because today more than half of us live in cities we traded open horizons
00:47for walls and left just a handful of people still living by the land they're the earth's original
00:52explorers the nomads and as their land disappears so does their way of life it would be easy to
01:00believe that there's no area left still classed as truly wild but you'd be wrong there are still
01:06majestic pockets of land that are rugged wild and teeming with life we found not just one hippo
01:13but all the hippos this is the tanzania you don't get to see and the critical thing is we need
01:21them
01:21for the health of our planet i'm lucy and i'm an explorer i've been leading expeditions all over
01:26the world for over a decade and now i'm on a mission to take you with me i've journeyed to
01:32some of the
01:32the world's most distant corners but this time i'm trying to cross one of africa's last great
01:37wildernesses on foot a route that only a few have traveled and never in this way once in a lifetime
01:43experience i feel like i've just stepped into a world i'm just trying to keep up i want to show
01:48you the beauty this place really is a paradise the surprising this is mad and the downright terrifying
01:56oh my god i'll be joined by those who still live by the land true nomadic hunter gatherers and learn
02:03how they're adapting in a world that's changing fast i'm gonna have to get used to the fact
02:06things are gonna get killed as we journey across this harsh terrain we'll face predators
02:11she's looking right at us extreme heat and days without water i don't know if i've got enough
02:17for 24 hours we'll need to come together and learn to work with the wild not against it i want
02:22to prove
02:23that this planet still has unspoilt places of all shapes and sizes still left to fight for because it
02:29has never been more important for us to build up our relationship with the natural world and protect
02:34these last wildernesses at all costs this is unbelievably spectacular
02:49the last leg of our journey took us deep into the dense forest with a constant danger of elephants
02:55back in hadsiland rations were running dangerously low in a desperate food mission i put what i learned
03:01to the test yes got the honey this helped us reach julius and delali's special birthplace
03:09before celebrating with a feast thank you rested and resupplied we pushed on
03:15and finally reached the gateway to our biggest challenge the serengeti we all think that we know
03:21the serengeti but i think this is a way of really showing a part that you never get to see
03:26before
03:26and i can't wait to find out what that part is
03:34we're in tanzania and in the final phase of this incredible journey
03:39so far it's taken us through wild forest had the dry lands and now we enter the iconic serengeti
03:44national park walking across parts where it's only the wildlife that roam we have to cross these
03:50endless plains to get to our destination and if we can pass through safely we'll reach negorogoro
03:56climb into the highlands and finish at a sacred volcano
04:02as soon as we arrived here there's just so much wildlife
04:06the serengeti you just realize just how huge it is it's vast i feel incredibly lucky to be able to
04:13have the permission to be walking through the heart of it like this where so few people get to see
04:23absolutely mind-blowing
04:26the serengeti is iconic to tanzania and the country's oldest national park it's one of the
04:32most important ecosystems on the planet home to some of the last free roaming wildlife migrations on earth
04:39people travel from all over the world to see the serengeti but usually from the safety of a vehicle
04:45on the dirt roads we're in a far more remote area and we well we're on foot making us completely
04:52exposed to its predators and that means we have to take precautions
05:03so we've crossed the threshold of the serengeti now and julius has just picked up the weapon the gun
05:11for protection and he's also swapped for a smaller rucksack just so he has more flexibility
05:18if we were needing to go into action
05:23the weapon is a last resort and even then it's no guarantee really we must keep our wits about us
05:29and avoid ever using it
05:32there's a lot of places to hide around here for the predators
05:37everywhere winnis isn't calming my nerves he's just the predators are everywhere it's just a matter
05:43of do we spot them hopefully we spot them first going for a wee in the serengeti
05:51while you're walking
05:54is there feeling a little bit like you're a prey
06:00i like to see and every maybe half-crowned a lion
06:04half-crowned buffalo charging
06:07yeah it's nature
06:08you love and you just love love being with the wildlife
06:10yes
06:11yeah well we're good we're glad to have your tracking skills
06:28that's the thing about the wild like most of the time they're probably going to think what the
06:32hell is that human doing on fur i've never seen that before and hopefully they'll get out of the way
06:40just got to be ready for the off chance that they don't get out of the way
06:44you know that when in one field of view you've got like the wildebeest you've got the zebra
06:49you've got pumba by pumba i mean warthog you know that the predators are also around here
06:56um i say that with a smile but constantly looking out for the big one is of course lion but
07:03then you've
07:03got the leopards and uh yeah
07:11it is really cool that you can just walk amongst the wildlife
07:17amazing
07:25so i don't know if you can see behind me but there is a huge line a few kilometers long
07:29of wildebeest
07:30coming from the northern part of tanzania down to here looking for the fresh grass the migration continues
07:38every year nearly two million wildebeest migrate in a vast loop across east africa following the
07:44rains and fresh grass right now they're passing here and wherever they go everything else sort of
07:51follows the lions they don't migrate they wait and let the herds of prey come to them us moving on
07:59foot
07:59means we're not separate from that system we're just another presence moving through it and that
08:04puts us in danger for those waiting lions long grass in the serengeti and the heat
08:17getting low on water it is hot work
08:23we're all really thirsty and i've been sort of hallucinating i've been walking
08:29we've got to make camp before i start hallucinating even more oh it is so hot and you have the
08:36choice
08:37to make whether you're in your tent just away from the flies and the horse flies biting insects but
08:43sweltering or outside where it's still sweltering there's a tiny bit of breeze but then you get bitten
08:48by these massive horse flies everywhere and if horse flies weren't bad enough i've got another
08:59problem i think i have just got a bloody urine infection
09:07ah it's just gonna be very annoying
09:15we filter all our water and that means we don't have to be too fussy with where it comes from
09:22with our water running low the search is on for our next source
09:25we've been living in the wild for over 30 days and so far finding it hasn't been an issue
09:30we're relying on julius's tracking skills to lead us to some but out here that comes with its own risks
09:37we have to be very quiet because we think there might be some big crocodiles
09:56it just ran into the water big big big one i think i just missed it
10:08it's too dangerous to collect water here we're going to have to find somewhere else
10:14and it doesn't take long for julius to find more clues to another source
10:18what's this julius
10:20tracking of hippo
10:22tracking of hippo
10:23yes
10:25yeah
10:28that's the thing in dry season everything will be drawn to the water
10:32including us
10:33so we have to keep on our guard
10:36so if we do come across a hippo we need to be very careful because they are the third largest
10:43land
10:44mammal on earth and but they are pretty much the number one most dangerous they kill like 500 people
10:52in africa every year um and they can run fast so they're not only good in water they can run
11:00very
11:00quickly i've never ever seen hippos in the wild in fact i don't think i've seen hippos before
11:11i don't know if today's going to be the day or not okay i think we're getting close
11:17to water which means we're probably getting close to other animals now
11:28oh my god there's loads of hippos
11:48that's so big
11:52didn't just find the water we found not just one hippo but all the hippos
11:59what do you think moses
12:03enjoy enjoy stay clear
12:06and so our water collecting has been made far more dangerous than expected
12:17it's an incredible sight but hippos are fiercely territorial and they can turn in an instant
12:23we keep our distance but we have to get down to the water somehow
12:28with the others on watch i find a small area where it's clear and make a dart for it
12:38okay well we've got some water we're getting away from the hippos now and
12:44go find somewhere to camp now that we're in the serengeti and uh yeah
13:08the serengeti is 30 000 square kilometers that's the size of belgium it's home to some of africa's most
13:15formidable wildlife and after getting past the hippos we're immediately confronted by another threat
13:22there's a huge herd of elephants right in front of us having close encounters with elephants but
13:30we're never actually seeing them properly until now okay they have a baby so obviously they're going to be protective
13:38of that baby
13:39julius is in front
13:42i'm just trying to figure out a way to get
13:45get by
13:46they're going this way
13:48so they might pass us yeah so we wait until they put they go from that direction yeah and for
13:55us
13:55we can just keep walking yeah yeah oh yeah they are coming aren't they yeah we're in their way
14:03we know when they want to charge they'll use those tasks with accuracy
14:08we're gonna give them some space because they have young and we know what elephants are capable of
14:19and this is our camp for tonight picked our tree to camp underneath
14:25having a little chill but this rest doesn't last long
14:31so we're having to move camp because even though that herd of elephants is a long way away
14:37we think they're heading down the valley towards where we're camped
14:43and you know we are in the wildlife area so you can't really escape wildlife that's one of the reasons
14:49we're here but we can at least get out of their way
14:55i have an idea to send the drone up to get a better feel of what we're dealing with
15:02the elephants have got quite a pace on we have to make sure we don't anger them
15:06but we need to move now otherwise they could come straight through our camp
15:11so we found a new place to camp just across the valley i don't know if there's any better
15:17it might be worse i guess we'll have to find out tonight but i guess it gives a peace of
15:22mind either way
15:26now we'll see what the night brings so good night
15:32we may be expecting elephants but here nothing is for certain
15:36there's one thing right here there
15:40i'm not even kidding i just had mine right behind me
15:48there's one thing that's really quite scary
15:58oh my god
16:11the noises of last night signal we're moving into a more dangerous area
16:15lion country it's quite something when you're lying in your tent with your head to the ground
16:23and then you've got lions like communicating around you and you just have to stay still
16:30oh we've got to go that way today see how much distance we can cover
16:36at the moment we can see quite well i think there's going to be some bits
16:41dips where we've got to be careful of um the animals lurking
16:52good sunning sunning yeah the sun is here
17:02we're watching out for animals with every step but i didn't expect to see this little one
17:08from tiny creatures like this tortoise to the tallest of them all the giraffe
17:13we try to get a little closer but they're right to be wary staying alert keeps them alive out here
17:21a giraffe's heart has to pump twice the normal pressure to just push blood up that long neck
17:26it's one of the most powerful hearts in the animal kingdom
17:44and then a jackal i'm already surprised by the sheer abundance of life here the serengeti is
17:51an example of how nature thrives when we protect it i think it's a walk yeah what is there we
17:59go
18:02that richness of life also tells you something else it's exactly the kind of place that draws in
18:08predators like lions the lion footprint yeah lion footprint oh wow it's massive it is massive
18:18only in the serengeti you would wake up and see a lion footprint and not be too surprised
18:25it's a lot of greenery and foliage to hide around here this bit it's very lush rich
18:36yeah is it down there he's sleeping how did you spot that it's amazing that you saw it in the
18:46first
18:46place yes how did you see him yeah we we walked and then he you know experience of wilderness of
18:54jungle
18:55we stay downwind of the sleeping lion knowing all too well that there could be more just out of view
19:05what do you do when there's a pride of lions in your path julius is taking every precaution
19:13flower in hand just in case we need to warn it off
19:18there's a lion there's a lion there's a lion there's a lion that's quite terrifying
19:25luckily he's startled enough to run away and it's just the one
19:31for now a male usually means lionesses aren't too far away very big very big
19:43this is mad just
19:48it's gonna happen but moving through the serengeti and like having to walk past prides of lions just
19:58gets your heart racing it's mental you need to be really careful of this long grass
20:05it's like pride of lions could just be sitting in front of us and we wouldn't know
20:12if it wasn't for the team i would have walked right on top of that lion's torso and it would
20:17have been game over i do my best to stay on the lookout but honestly in this phase of the
20:23expedition
20:24my life is very much in my teammates hands and now julius has spotted something else
20:32lion cubs they may look sweet but this is a very dangerous situation to be in where's mum
20:44we'd be metered from her before realizing
20:49the wind direction is changing so we've got to get out of it
20:53as if that mum wakes up we're in trouble
20:57the cubs watch
20:59do you know where mum is
21:06we're just staring right off she's awake we've got to move but we can't run
21:15he's charging
21:21as soon as she woke up it was like go time
21:31turns out i'm not the only one who smiles when i'm nervous
21:35moses definitely does too
21:42julius thank you again for protecting us today
21:45yes
21:45you're welcome but
21:48it was very good
21:49if you have no strong heart
21:51yeah
21:55yeah no you were very
21:57no wait wait
21:58yeah
22:05thank you for protecting us
22:08we weren't eaten by the lions today
22:14it's really nice i think uh julius now that he's got the the weapon and yeah he's the animal tracker
22:22this is his uh his forte so to speak and he's really found a purpose and he's really like
22:29going let's see it in his eyes which is really good because i really we needed him
22:34for this part especially it would be so dangerous not to go if imagine if i was here without the
22:39team
22:40that would be yeah it wouldn't be good everyone has a role to play here so we're all doing a
22:45role
22:46and uh yeah delalia and moses are getting on like a treat they're like formed a brotherhood
22:52an unlikely brotherhood from two different tribes
22:54which is rather lovely because at first i think there's a little bit of
22:58who are you you know where are you from but they've found so much common ground which is great
23:03and then when he's smiling he's um i think he's starting to sort of look forward to
23:10when we get out of danger because it's dangerous here it is the danger has stepped up a notch
23:17got my machete i've always been sleeping my machete next to me um i don't know if i could
23:24do anything in time but it's there
23:42i'm asking moses to do his magic near me tonight because it's a little bit scary having seen all
23:49the lions and now hearing them all around us it feels very very different tonight because we're
24:06deep in the serengeti just feels that bit further away from safety and there's lions every like
24:13everywhere this is pride lands i've made sure i watched where moses did his magic i need everything
24:21i can get right now
24:34you see yeah man you see all the lights stay stay stay
24:40lions pass in the close vicinity all i can do is put faith into moses's magic
24:50moses thank you for doing your magic did you pick it up yeah thank you the lion yeah stayed away
25:01down to the magic i think honestly there's something to it
25:08there's a feeling of nervous energy in the air now prides of lions seem to be getting closer
25:13to us as every day goes by and it's not only lions we need to be worried about
25:23a scorpion that could kill you
25:27your eyesight is amazing yes you're very very good
25:31yeah amazing i think i would be dead without you yeah
25:38winner's finding a not so lucky cape buffalo skull we don't want to end up like this one if we
25:43can help
25:43it yeah that's gonna pin you down with the big bull i think i heard some lions that direction we've
25:50come
25:50from that direction where we know there are lions but the the wind is going in this direction so they
25:58shouldn't know that we're here anymore
26:06straight away we've just found a beautiful huge lioness on the top of a rock
26:14what does that remind you of
26:18i might be happy to see her far away and high on this rock but the feeling doesn't appear mutual
26:25oh that was a warning don't get too close she's rightly protective of her cubs but something
26:32doesn't seem right here the cubs are incredibly thin and appear weak we need to move away from this
26:39pride quickly but seeing this dead cub is a stark reminder of what dry season brings
26:45in this pride's territory there's little water and even less prey if the lions can't even survive how will we
26:56we came across a pride of lions from a distance and they were so weak like so obviously weak and
27:03then we came across a dead uh cub we were just starved to death or dehydrated both just 10 20
27:12minutes
27:12before we were looking for a place to camp not knowing they were there and if they had come to
27:19camp
27:19but i don't know if we'd still be i reckon already by now it's 8 pm we would have been
27:25eaten
27:28tonight all we can do is hope that the lions stay away and we can sleep in peace
27:48i can't make a sound there's a lion just outside of my tent
28:07there's 10
28:14so can i get the hang on hang on hang on
28:22there they are
28:26oh there's loads of them oh god
28:33yeah
28:33whoa
28:36he's right by camp
28:39there he is there he is
28:40oh my god he's just looking at us
28:50we thought that was the last of them but things were about to get even worse
29:02the lions coming into camp was terrifying but it didn't end there
29:07that night another pride walked right up to our tents a male lion plonked himself between mine and
29:13julius and delali's tent and roared at our heads for a whole two minutes i couldn't risk reaching for
29:19the camera i froze and stayed silent exactly how i was taught to one small movement could have looked
29:26like a challenge and you don't challenge a whole pride honestly i am just happy to wake up alive
29:34that was probably the single scariest thing i've ever had to go through
29:40it was
29:42it was lions right there
29:46everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief once they had passed through i started to think
29:53feeling really guilty to my parents that i was gonna get eaten by an actual literal lion
30:05honestly let's get out of the serengeti there's too many lions here
30:11oh my god did i hear the lion they pass here i know i'm very very aware because i could
30:20hear the
30:20foot steps right here so our tents are here and it went here
30:28it what you tapped him what did he say
30:38afterwards afterwards everyone was like
30:44there we go that was pretty close though oh yes very close he's come out the door of 10th yeah
30:541.5 meter
30:59that is my god rifle wasn't rifle is that what delali said okay oh good he tapped you
31:06shh and you just said be quiet be quiet so we just be quiet
31:13yeah right next to us
31:20it was amazing i love that you were like shut up just be quiet
31:29that is such a cool sight all the nighttime terrors that we had have gone away with that sunrise
31:45it's our last morning in the serengeti and it's time for one last look at this oasis before we head
31:50into the dry highlands wow this place really is a paradise this is unbelievably spectacular
32:03to be here alone walking on foot in this wilderness it's hard it's dangerous but boy this makes it like
32:11oh it makes it worth it it's so cool
32:26the serengeti blew my expectations wide open it's a paradise here and it shows just how resilient nature
32:33is and how fiercely it can flourish if we give it a chance but the serengeti has two sides the
32:40beauty
32:40and the brutal effort it takes to move through it a bit concerned about the team everyone's had such
32:47a adrenaline filled time here the next one is just going to be hard and we really just need to
32:53stick
32:54it out work as a team and get to the finish point then we would have done this amazing expedition
33:03we've walked over 100 kilometers through the serengeti and now we have 50 kilometers for our final phase
33:09in the most challenging terrain we're leaving this area of abundance of resources and heading into the
33:16really dry and highlands you can already feel like it's getting less green and less idyllic
33:24harder to survive less wildlife and way more barren
33:30no water no water at all no every water thirsty oh i'm so thirsty that's all we got left it's
33:40only
33:41got and you can see the color of this water it's bad very bad but i'll just have a one
33:47sip yeah because
33:48i don't know how long we're gonna walk until we find a place where yeah we can refill it to
33:54walk for another
33:55place find another find water yeah yeah because here sometimes we die no water there is no fresh
34:04water it's salt water yeah oh salt water salt water okay yeah because this is like a volcanic
34:10area okay oh my god new challenge right
34:19the change of terrain here is wild it's like we walked into a desert and it is so hot
34:30just walked across that walking on sand dust gray sand just making everything as you can imagine
34:43a lot harder we're starting to think that it might be another 24 hours until we find any water
34:54which is quite worrying the mouth has like formed that seal around it
35:02we've got a bit left but i don't know if we've got enough for 24 hours
35:10it's very very dry i thought it was gonna be cooler because we've gained height but
35:15it just feels like we're getting closer to the sun so we might just have to go hungry because water's
35:21more important but there's no water just been down there you never hear it must be a deep underground
35:29somewhere
35:33with dark thoughts on our mind our conversation turns to death
35:37i want to ask julius what i had to believe when people pass away
35:41like do you just die or do you do you have to believe in afterlife
35:47oh cool that's why yeah i'm not i have no words to go yeah
35:54i guess my mind drifts to home and i've tried really hard to build the life that i want
35:59which is yeah i feel so grateful for really it's really what i wanted to say
36:07like i like my life i feel very privileged to be able to say that i won't speak about it
36:14anymore
36:14because i'll get upset i'm going to try and tackle this hair because otherwise
36:22i'm gonna have to have a shade off
36:29tomorrow we need to find water because if we don't it is not looking good
36:42like my wash
36:49the tough phase continues we're headed try and get up and over here
36:56we think there could be water around here i know i can feel my body is dehydrated already
37:04let's go
37:11we're on our final push with just 50 kilometers to go until we reach our finish point at the top
37:16of an
37:17active volcano but if we don't find any water we won't be able to even make it close
37:24one guy haven't quite reached the point where i'll be drinking my own pee yet but watch the space
37:33the land is getting greener there must be water somewhere even a trickle would be life-saving
37:40all the signs point that there is water because of people coming from miles with their cattle
37:45i thought it was going to be like a trickle of water i didn't expect like this like wow
37:54that's incredible hey lots of water water water water
38:02it's hard to believe that after four days without any water this is here at 3 000 meters of altitude
38:10uh
38:13can't wait to drink from that
38:17water from our filter
38:22and we're done
38:25yes
38:28wooo
38:28so
38:31Maasai come from miles and miles with their livestock to get this water source.
38:36Should find out if there's hippos and crocodiles in there though before I go get too excited.
38:42We are in Africa after all.
38:45So we've been talking to some Maasai and we're not to swim in it because people have just
38:49disappeared.
38:52We've got a few more days, Winnes, then we'll have a shower.
38:56And this is going to fuel us to get to the end.
38:59So good.
39:00The team did really well today.
39:02I'm proud of them.
39:03Good job team.
39:05All the Maasai have left now.
39:08And so now the wild animals are coming for a drink.
39:11And I'm going to say that by this point we are wild animals as well.
39:22I have bites everywhere.
39:26Super itchy.
39:29I've got bug bites all over my feet.
39:32Which when I'm walking, it's like torture because you can't itch them.
39:44Being at altitude, we never thought we'd be back in this dense terrain.
39:48We're just 20 kilometres from our end point, the volcano.
39:52But this is slowing us down.
39:57Didn't expect this today.
40:01I'd hoped finding water would cheer everyone up.
40:04But being back in this forest is testing all of us.
40:07Even Winnes.
40:08He looks like he's hit a wall.
40:10He is tired.
40:13So I just need to make sure he's rested today as well.
40:15Because it's not over till it's over.
40:18So I can't take our eye off the ball.
40:21You okay, Winnes?
40:22Huh?
40:23You okay?
40:24I'm like a light headache.
40:26Oh, no.
40:27Yeah, but I think it's a little bit weird.
40:31Winnes has been so positive this whole expedition.
40:34But this seems to be his breaking point.
40:39We're almost done.
40:41And it's been six very long weeks.
40:45It's been hard.
40:48It's just been hard.
40:50I'm tired.
40:52My mind is really tired.
40:55And soon we'll be home.
41:02They've lost it all this time.
41:04Let's see.
41:05Hey!
41:06I'll put gear.
41:07I'll put gear.
41:09Okay.
41:12What's that?
41:14Oh, perfect. It fits.
41:16Oh, perfect. It fits.
41:19You see Lenggai?
41:20Yeah.
41:21Yeah.
41:22Is that the final destination?
41:24Yes.
41:25A big mountain that's...
41:27Actually, it's not a mountain.
41:28It's an active volcano.
41:30When will it erupt?
41:31Hopefully not the day that we climb it.
41:33We're crossing over the Great Rift Valley.
41:36The volcano, Mount Lenggai, is getting closer.
41:42Check that out.
41:43Walking on like volcanic dust, which is hard going.
41:46Come on, you're going.
41:47I'm going to get away.
41:47Come on.
41:56Come on.
41:57Come on.
41:58This is the terns in here you don't get to see.
42:01Woo-hoo!
42:03There.
42:04There.
42:05There.
42:06There.
42:06There.
42:06There.
42:07There.
42:08There.
42:08There.
42:09There.
42:10Talking to get an early night.
42:11Because we're climbing in a few hours.
42:13And I just wanted to say, yes, this is it.
42:16Final push.
42:18And, um, just battle ready.
42:22This is just go, go, go team.
42:24We're going to do this as a team.
42:25We started this as a team.
42:27We're going to finish it as a team.
42:29And, uh, yeah.
42:35Catch up with you soon.
42:40Moses you ready to beat the scorching heat we're setting off at midnight Mount Langai
42:51is almost 3,000 meters and it'll take us all night to reach the summit
42:55and with any luck we'll get there for sunrise
43:04it is smelly rotten eggs the sulfur
43:10very very smelly they're almost almost at the top now
43:35the sun is about to come out
43:43yeah we have done it we have officially completed the expedition
44:04amazing yeah
44:11it's a nice thing to share with your son
44:13yes yes
44:14you'll remember it forever
44:16like all of but the whole journey
44:18yes
44:19big adventure
44:20big adventure yes
44:22yeah
44:22very big adventure
44:24yes I feel good
44:26and it's a long long journey
44:29long journey
44:30yeah
44:31long long way but
44:33we're successful
44:35I cannot explain it how happy I am
44:38this day I was just waiting for a long time
44:40are you proud of yourself
44:42I am very proud of myself
44:44I am very proud of the team
44:45I'm very proud for Lucy
44:46I'm very extremely happy I can just say
44:49it's really absolute
44:51absolutely
44:52yeah
44:53to finish this
44:54this expedition pushed us more than we could have ever expected
44:57I began as the outsider
44:59learning to live with the land and with the people whose knowledge runs deep
45:03and out here I realised something important
45:05the wild
45:06it doesn't judge
45:08I come from a different background
45:10and hey
45:11even Moses didn't know any of the team before meeting
45:13but none of that mattered
45:15what mattered was how we moved together
45:17and watching Julius and Dilale
45:19father and son
45:20take on this journey
45:21showed me a strength
45:22that you just can't fake
45:23we crossed forests
45:25dry lands
45:26mountains
45:26and the Serengeti
45:28places so alive
45:29yet so fragile
45:30and the wild's quiet authority
45:33was always with us
45:34and respecting it
45:35kept us safe
45:36this journey reminded me
45:38just how resilient nature is
45:40and how quickly it can disappear
45:41without protection
45:43if I've learned anything
45:44it's that we already have the tools
45:46to make a difference
45:47modern knowledge
45:48ancient wisdom
45:49and the choice to act
45:51this has been a story about the wild
45:53not as something to conquer
45:55but as a teacher
45:56and a reminder that there's still
45:58so much left to fight for
46:00six weeks
46:01with this great team
46:02has just
46:03it's rekindled my love
46:05and it's
46:07always in such awe
46:08of these wild places
46:09it's been so diverse
46:11so so impressive
46:14and
46:14I think we should all
46:17just work hard
46:18to protect
46:19the delicate
46:20balance of
46:22these wild places
46:23because
46:23they're out there
46:25people live in them
46:26and
46:27we need to do everything
46:29we can to protect them
46:30but
46:58we need to do everything
