00:00Blaha on the call, Cade, with one of those all-time performances serenaded with MVP chants,
00:06and the Pistons keep the season alive.
00:08Let's go to the phones.
00:09Jeremy and Howell, good morning.
00:12Morning, guys.
00:13Thanks for taking my call.
00:14Of course.
00:15Listen every day.
00:16So I'll admit, like everybody else, I was on the ropes.
00:20You know, the reason why we were all so disappointed is because we've been watching a team for
00:26the past three games that no one recognized.
00:28You know, they weren't playing like themselves.
00:30We weren't seeing the defense, the hard work.
00:33Last night, I think, was exactly what we needed at the exact time we needed it.
00:37That performance from Cade was, you know, incredible.
00:39And it wasn't just him.
00:41You know, we've got the stats when he scores so high, they typically lose the game.
00:45We didn't see that last night.
00:46I just think that they were playing like themselves again last night.
00:50I think it injects some energy back into the team, back into the city,
00:54and I think we just want to get past this first round so we can all take a deep breath
00:59and see where we're at.
01:00I did see things I didn't like.
01:02I don't like the bricks from Duncan now and then, and the effort, obviously,
01:06from some of the guys was still not there, but this was way more like what we're used to seeing.
01:11Yeah, I guess where I'm at is Cade had a performance for the ages.
01:15No Pistons ever scored more in the playoffs.
01:18And I want to bask in it a little bit today because of the stakes.
01:22Do or die.
01:23Your season ends.
01:25Nobody's making buckets around him.
01:27The team shot five of 20 from three.
01:31He himself made five threes.
01:34He carried them.
01:35I think that should be put in its proper context.
01:38That is an all-time great performance.
01:41Do I think I'm getting it two more times?
01:44Do I think the Magic are going to shoot 16 of 30 from the charity stripe?
01:49Probably not.
01:51When you go back to Orlando, that's probably where this ends.
01:59I mean, yeah, sure.
02:00You're right.
02:01It probably is.
02:02But for one of the worst offenses of the teams that are remaining in the playoffs,
02:10they're one of them.
02:12And I know that, hey, you had 45 from Ben Carroll.
02:15You had 109.
02:17How do you believe that this is an offense against the Pistons defense?
02:23Now, the Pistons offense hasn't been there.
02:25The defense has for the vast majority of this series.
02:29Now, it hasn't been good enough because it hasn't been paired with an offense.
02:32But do you believe, even if it's not 45 from Cade, it's 35,
02:38that the defense travels will keep them in it.
02:43Okay, defense travels, but teams tend to shoot better at home.
02:45And Orlando made some – I mean, they gave up too many open jumpers.
02:48They made a bunch of jumpers in that game.
02:50Yeah, but if there's no one there to cover Cade –
02:54I mean, is that simply the reason?
02:56I think the takeaway is you can't rule them out because if you win game six,
03:00you're coming home for game seven.
03:01You can't rule them out because the Magic aren't anything special and Franz Wagner's hurt.
03:05You can't rule them out because you still have Cade Parker Cunningham.
03:08But if you're asking me, does last night suddenly make me a believer they're winning the series?
03:12No.
03:16It'll be interesting.
03:17Hey, but you can't – you can't count them out because the door's open.
03:22And, John, we were talking off air.
03:23Do we think Wagner plays at all in this series?
03:27I don't know that he plays – I don't know because of the calf injury.
03:33And for them, they're trying to decide, well, how important is it for us to win this first-round series?
03:40They're in it, right?
03:42And they got a 3-2 lead.
03:43How important is it for them to move on and think about, well, can we take Cleveland?
03:51Could we beat Boston?
03:53And do you want to risk the Tatum thing?
03:56Right.
03:56The Halliburton thing.
03:57Where did you miss Franz Wagner for the entirety of next season?
04:00And I don't know.
04:01It could just be a simple, you know, hey, maybe it's the top of his calf.
04:05I don't know.
04:06But we've watched this.
04:09Tatum, Halliburton, even Durant more than a few years back.
04:11It starts as a calf, but if it's a muscle issue and then it's your Achilles and then you're done.
04:17So I don't know if we see Wagner again.
04:19And that's part of keeping the door open for the Pistons.
04:20Had the win last night to do it.
04:22Let's get to Jason in Livonia.
04:24Jason, good morning.
04:26Good morning, fellas.
04:28Good morning.
04:28Hey, I think you guys are a little too dismissive of Bancaro.
04:33We said that Kate Cunningham had an all-time performance.
04:38So did Apollo Bancaro.
04:39And then they lost.
04:42And if Wagner comes back, I think it's a different story because I think he is a great defender on
04:47Kate Cunningham.
04:48He doesn't play.
04:49They win, too, because they're not going to get 45 out of Bancaro.
04:53So they're going to match each other.
04:54And I think the Pistons have a good chance to win.
04:57And Tobias made big shots down the stretch, too.
05:00Had a big three.
05:00Had another big shot.
05:02So I think Tobias, at least in this series, is sort of becoming that Robin.
05:08I mean, he kind of already is.
05:09By default.
05:10But he can get a shot if you let him dribble left.
05:14If you let him dribble left and get to that turnaround shot on the baseline or over there.
05:20So Wagner being out lets this team go off.
05:23I think that they're able.
05:25Orlando defends the pick-and-roll better with Wagner because they've got that big guy to kind of slink below.
05:30But if he doesn't play, the Pistons get two more games.
05:34Hey, real quick.
05:35On the point that, hey, they can't count on that from Bancaro just like we can't count on that from
05:39Cade.
05:39The difference is I think they have more scoring options than we do.
05:44That would be the difference.
05:45If you knock Paolo down 10 points and Cade down 10 points, they have a cast more likely to make
05:49up the gap.
05:50Right.
05:50But that would be what I'd tell you.
05:52I don't know what they've been averaging.
05:54I feel like they are a little more streaky than ours.
06:00Like I've seen Suggs make six and then brick 10.
06:04Same thing with Bain.
06:06I also think maybe win.
06:07But I'm telling you, those guys all shoot better at home statistically, which is not a weird thing.
06:12You see that in the NBA.
06:13Role players tend to play a little better at home too.
06:15It feels like game six is the winner of that game obviously wins the series if it's Orlando.
06:20But if you're Pistons and you win game six, now you're coming home.
06:23And you've got the momentum.
06:25And it feels like you're winning the series.
06:28It feels like game six is winner wins the series.
06:33Right?
06:34Barring like a Wagner-Willis-Reed moment or something.
06:38Yes, it does.
06:39That's the sentiment that we will have if that's the course that happens on Friday night.
06:46Plenty of room to talk Pistons on the phones.
06:48We'll get into the Jansen hierarchy in the city of Detroit.
06:50Kenley Jansen with his second consecutive blown save.
06:54We got Dear John on Thursdays, two Grand Slam on Thursdays, and more Bruno Mars tickets.
06:59Let's get to Heather with the news.
