00:34oh my gosh that was so tough our boat is 43 feet long 25 feet wide it has three bedrooms

00:4645 by 25 foot space every day I think we're ready to make that leap back onto land let's go

01:52we're part of the Netherlands look at this water though go scuba diving right there skinny dipping
01:57oh for sure we're pros at that there you go how did you guys find Bonaire the pandemic started and
02:05they said you got to stay home I said no we don't we got a boat we've sailed through a
02:10lot of Caribbean
02:10islands okay and this one just checks all of our boxes we've been very blessed in that after the
02:15pandemic tourism has grown exponentially here and the market in Bonaire it's been booming within
02:22the last five years it's definitely a different lifestyle than Texas none of that like Russian
02:26around rum and sunshine you can't go wrong so now that we're looking to put our roots down in Bonaire
02:32we have decided that we're going to sell our house in Texas so that we can afford a little slice
02:37of
02:37paradise here we still own the home we rent it out James actually turned our entire backyard into
02:43this beach oasis we've got sand there we've got a deck that he built that looks like a dock it
02:49was
02:49our dream home but selling our house in Texas will allow us to have a bigger budget up to six
02:53hundred
02:54fifty thousand dollars we're thinking maybe a charter business here oh wow so we'd want something that we
03:00can I don't separate the work work to the boat and then have a place to live we plan to
03:06make money by
03:07chartering our boat day trip sunset cruises James is also a scuba instructor so we can start a charter
03:13business teach scuba diving and we'll see where it goes from there I would love to have a pool okay

03:20would love perhaps have two bedrooms and some outdoor space just for me so I can practice my yoga watch

03:26birds I would like something like furnished so we don't have to import all our furniture and some
03:33storage area for dive gear boat parts maybe a nice kitchen because I do all the cooking oh wow I'm
03:40lucky there you go one of the reasons he checked my boxes close to the boat close to the boat

03:46close to the harbor in this area would be nice I don't want to be too far inland it's too

03:52get it I don't have to be on the water but I'd like to be somewhere where I can maybe

03:56ocean catch a breeze what's your budget look like our budget is six hundred and fifty thousand dollars

04:36here to the south side of Bonaire this area is called Bel Names and we're about 18 minutes from
04:44the harbor I'll be 20 minutes commute to work I mean a 20-minute commute it's a little further than
04:51I'd like to drive but you know that could be a good thing a little separation from from work so

04:57that we're looking at today it's a developing area some of the houses are still under construction we've
05:04got a lot of new buildings here and so this area is really up and coming and we've got new
05:11resorts close
05:12by that are really bringing up the value of Bell Nam there's a lot of unique history we have the
05:19salt
05:19pier it's close proximity to restaurants and we do have wild donkeys here so you might have donkeys
05:27visiting you guys sometimes oh I love that it's like Mario Kart you got donkeys running out I got shells
05:34and bananas so it does have a pool ample storage and I think you're gonna like the kitchen James that
05:41is a lot of the boxes checked right there right what happened to the roof I guess where we're going

05:46don't need roads okay here we are this one is two bedrooms there is indeed a little bit of
05:57construction but walking distance to the ocean it's about five minutes that way I guess the big question

08:56the ocean in our house in Texas we had to create a tropical vibe so here in Bonaire I'm really
09:01expecting that wherever we live is going to have that naturally for us to have to sell our house in
09:06Texas our beloved home in Texas they trade up to this that's gonna I don't know if it's a trade

09:12that's yeah I think it's gonna be trickier than I anticipated to find the house that Julie and James
09:18are really looking for with that Caribbean vibe they would like to at least see the ocean I mean

09:34about Bonaire is it's not overdeveloped there's only 25,000 people that live here I love these
09:40beautiful colored buildings so quaint yeah I mean Texas we don't have anything like this here you
09:48walk in and it's bon dia you say good morning to everybody it feels warm and welcome oh I bet
09:53you guys painted this nice it's beautiful thank you I can be the eye let's see yeah you can be

10:01eye I would describe the vibe on Bonaire as easy breezy it's colorful that's super cute I get to hang
10:08out with people that I would never have met in Texas ever when we are back in Texas I don't
10:14think we were
10:14actually ourselves we were you know putting on suits and ties and working here I just feel better
10:20about myself the stress just melts away here on Bonaire bon dia Julia bon dia bon dia James bon dia
10:31so where we're going is actually not that far from town 10 minutes or less from the heart of
10:37crawling dyke so you guys will have access to all the restaurants beach clubs bars yeah yes so I know
10:48you wanted something more warm and inviting it has a lot of indoor outdoor living space it is two
10:55bedrooms fully furnished and moving ready there's the pool look at the pool area really cool
11:09so based off yesterday it was a big lesson for me you're right on the water and it's only 15
11:15minutes to the marina I want the house to speak for itself go take a look and let's talk numbers
11:21later let's go we're talking oh it's number 10 let's see number 10 welcome oh my god James it's on

11:34water look at this water this is great oh it's stunning this looks like the Texas house only real

12:10missing since we left Fort Worth and so I'm looking forward to finding friends getting to know

14:08of our budget that's right and we've got hoa fees around a little over ten thousand annually okay right
14:16that's the top of our budget there's additional cost with the hoa and still pretty far away from the
14:23harbor 650 is our ceiling and you know honestly i was hoping to come in a little bit under that
14:31but this does have everything that i want right if we were to sell our texas home this would deplete
14:37our
14:37nest and we still have another dream to fulfill with starting this business so it's yeah a tough call
14:50so clear and beautiful can't wait i have to get wet so bonaire is a secret gem it's diver's paradise
14:59this move is going to bring some more balance back to our life when james and i were first married
15:03we were very independent i was a corporate banker he was working on oil rigs he'd be gone for anywhere
15:09between what three and 30 days in the water awesome there's a bunch of fish down here kind of went

15:14one extreme to the other right we're gone all the time separate now we're way close together i'm really
15:20excited to get a place of our own on land are you ready to look at our forever home
15:39we're excited where are we going today well you asked for proximity to your boat yes so i've got a
15:46property right by this marina right over there oh my god we're at harbor village all right i've actually
15:52been really curious about this place so i'm really excited about this let's go let's do it that'll be
15:57perfect this apartment is within a resort okay great so you indeed have a beautiful pool you have
16:03beach access a sandy beach which is rare on bonaire because we're surrounded by reef this is a one
16:09bedroom with a den it's fully furnished move-in ready it's been updated it has a spectacular ocean view it
16:16looks expensive it sounds expensive but you're going to be surprised with the price it's 595 000. 595 is
16:24amazing price we've got hoa fees of around 10 000 annually not too bad for this resort living
16:31so let's go take a look all right take a look yourself okay let me know what you think all

18:04well what'd you guys think i mean it's beautiful that's resort living i love the furnishings
18:11yeah it's really contemporary modern the view's nice storage it has some but i don't think it's
18:17going to be enough there is a dive area maybe we could negotiate some additional storage for you
18:23and although it's close to the marina i'm nervous it might be too close i don't know i think it's
18:29nice
18:29to be that close like i would love to just be able to just walk down to the boat and
18:33fix stuff
18:34and having eyes on it it's amazing i'm really looking for a sense of community and i'm i'm nervous
18:42about moving someplace and living amongst tourists and i really want a place that i can retreat to
18:46you could actually live at a resort i would love that living in a resort i mean it sounds like
18:51a dream
18:52and it looks like a dream but i'm just not sure if that's really where we want to be do
18:56we want to be
18:56living at a resort we could we could right there you could live at it yeah well we'll see
19:10well well we're about to be land lovers land lovers i think this is a perfect island though
19:16so now the real question is which of the houses is worth selling the texas home that might be like
19:23the hardest question i've ever had it's really difficult yeah like really the home in texas is
19:29really special to me to us we put a lot of love into that home i built that whole backyard
19:36as our
19:37vision board i like having a u.s address for a few different reasons and one of the most important
19:42reasons is it's really close to my family and it's gonna be tough to give that up i feel like
19:46we have
19:47two that we like i have one that i love is there a world that exists where we don't sell
19:51the house and
19:52we have a place to land here we'll figure it out which home did we pick we chose none of
20:06the homes
20:08we decided to keep our house in texas we did not sell the house so we could not then get
20:14one of the
20:15larger houses but we actually were able to check most of the boxes off with this property last minute
20:23we found a property that was off market under our budget
20:29the best part is the price 250 000
20:35and we get to keep our house that's making us money and it's close to my parents so i'm actually
20:39really thrilled about that i got indoor outdoor space i get to watch the birds and i get to do
20:44some yoga outdoors which i love playing a room for storage of gear and boat stuff for the business
20:53moving ready fully furnished there's only one bedroom but we're already used to living smaller
20:58i didn't get my big spacious kitchen all right gonna roast some vegetables honey the only thing
21:03we're missing is a pool but we actually have a pool at the marina that's directly across the street from
21:09the beach close to the harbor i left my corporate job to focus 100 on our business i keep the
21:15boat
21:16running and she keeps it booked yeah welcome to the lost cat so good to be here having the house

21:23allowed us to have more balance in our relationship because we're not on top of each other all the time
21:27on the boat we're on top of each other a lot here but in different ways
