00:00Ron, the show, Eugly is out.
00:01T. Mill is in.
00:03B. Scott, he's on the ones and twos.
00:06B. Scott is in for Ron, the show, Eugly.
00:10Weekend's best, weekend's worst.
00:13A little something we do every single Monday.
00:16It is a reaction Monday.
00:18We've got a big, big weekend.
00:19Had a big, big weekend here in Houston with the NFL draft
00:22and the Astros along with the Rockets.
00:25A little heartbreak on the front of both of them.
00:27And then on the backside of the weekend, they made us feel a little better.
00:30So we'll continue to touch them throughout this show.
00:33But right now we've got to go with a little weekend's best, weekend's worst.
00:39B. Scott, let's start with you, man.
00:41Let's go weekend's worst.
00:43Let's start with the bad, get the bad out of the way.
00:45Let's start with weekend's worst for you, Brandon Scott.
00:48I don't know how there could be a worst than what we saw from the Rockets on Friday night.
00:53And I feel like this one is eligible because it is technically the weekend.
00:56And after this show ended, right, that was a Friday night game.
00:59You guys were off the air by Friday at 6.
01:02And so I'm going to go ahead and count that one.
01:04Now I understand that they somewhat redeemed themselves last night,
01:08at the very least staving off eliminations, showing some pride.
01:11Shout out to Alper Shingun for the pregame speech that he gave at the shootaround
01:17that kind of rejuvenated the team
01:19or at least kind of put the battery in the back that they needed.
01:22But Friday night was, and I said this earlier in the show,
01:26that is one of, if not the worst collapse that I've seen,
01:30definitely the worst one that I've seen in person.
01:32And it's got to rival some of the worst collapses that I've ever seen
01:36to be up by six points, less than 30 seconds to go in a playoff game at home, right,
01:43already down in the series.
01:45And you're doing it without your star player,
01:47but they're without their even more star player.
01:50To me, the opportunity lost and just the boneheadedness of the whole sequence of events,
01:56to me, has got to be the worst of the weekend.
01:58Ooh, yeah, that was definitely a tough watch.
02:01That was one that, man, I mean, if it's bad, not even basketball,
02:08just bad team sports across the board, top to bottom,
02:11coaching all the way down, the Rockets collapse in that fourth quarter
02:16was a tough, tough watch.
02:19I wish I could say, B. Scott, I wish I could honestly sit here with you and say,
02:24man, I didn't see that coming.
02:25But I'll be honest with you, as wild as that was,
02:28I don't know if I saw it coming, but it damn sure didn't surprise me.
02:31Yeah, I had a sneaky suspicion, I'll be honest with you.
02:34Like, it surprised me just how it happened and what exactly happened,
02:39but the fact that it did happen, I'll be honest with you, didn't surprise me.
02:42I mean, we did watch them blow that overtime lead against Minnesota about the two ago.
02:46Yeah, yeah, that was rough to watch.
02:48I'm going to tell you what, my weekend's worst.
02:51I'm going to stick in Houston.
02:52I was going to go with the draft.
02:53I don't know if you heard about the 49ers draft,
02:55but I was going to go with the 49ers, but I'll be honest with you.
02:59It was so bad here in Houston that I can't give our city a pass.
03:04I cannot give the Astros a pass.
03:06And I looked at it, I mean, we talked about it briefly in the last segment.
03:10I know this is something that drives Tyler absolutely berserk.
03:14It drives Tyler crazy when it's Altuve.
03:17And now to see it just become a major problem for the Astros time and time again.
03:23The base running in general is bad, but, I mean, that getting picked off first base,
03:30you mentioned a little earlier Bryce Matthews getting picked off
03:34in a critical situation late in the game.
03:36I don't know how it's probably been a couple of weeks now.
03:39This past weekend I saw Cam Smith get picked off in an unacceptable situation.
03:44I saw Yiner Diaz get picked off in an unacceptable situation.
03:49I would love to go outside of Houston for my weekend's worst,
03:53but I'm going to be honest with you.
03:54I see my boy Christian Walker.
03:57C-Walk, by the way, love the nickname they gave him.
03:59Not a big fan of the mustache.
04:01Love the nickname.
04:03C-Walk hits a bomb, and no doubter.
04:05By the way, watching him rake is pretty pleasing to my soul.
04:11Not just because he's an Astro first baseman,
04:12just the way in which he does it's pretty clean.
04:17But he hits a bomb, and I'm thinking, hell yeah.
04:20I just turned the TV on.
04:22Let me settle in.
04:23Let me enjoy this.
04:25And, man, we ain't – I mean, it couldn't have been two, three minutes?
04:29Two, three minutes later, I believe it's Cam getting his ass picked off first.
04:35I said, man, I mean, I can't even enjoy the damn home run from C-Walk
04:39before Cam gets me good and pissed off.
04:42Then, of course, I look over and see all shucks going down the stairs in the dugout
04:46instead of somebody meeting him halfway.
04:47My weekend's worst is definitely the Astros.
04:50Base running in general, but getting picked off first base in unacceptable fashion
04:54in a series against the Yankees when you lose the first two,
04:58yeah, that was weekend's worst for me.
05:00And it's just a team that cannot afford to beat itself.
05:03Yeah.
05:04They're not good enough to be able to overcome that type of stuff.
05:07Well, it's another one of those things with the Astros where when you're rolling,
05:11you know, you overcome some things.
05:13Right.
05:13Right, and you sweep it under the rug, then all of a sudden when you need it,
05:17when it's the margins that you're going to win by,
05:20all of a sudden that kind of stuff gets you beaten.
05:22So frustrating, frustrating, frustrating.
05:24All right, weekend's best.
05:26B. Scott, what you got?
05:28Man, you just spoiled it a little bit.
05:30You gave the game away.
05:32Christian Walker.
05:32Oh.
05:33That's got to be the best for me, man.
05:34Look at C-Walk getting a couple mentions in weekend's best.
05:37Look, my man was three for four yesterday with four RBI.
05:41Had a homer the day before that.
05:43Was two for four in the series opener.
05:46So he was impacting the guy.
05:48I understand that they lost the series and that they avoided the sweep yesterday
05:51and all of that.
05:52But even in defeat, he's impacting the game.
05:55He is one of the few silver linings and bright spots of this Astros season
06:01that, as we have well documented on this show and at this station already,
06:06has been largely a disappointment.
06:08He, in a vacuum as an individual, has not been a disappointment.
06:12And this weekend, I'm going to go ahead and give him my weekend's best
06:15because this weekend, the performance that he gave was indicative of that.
06:18Brandon Scott's weekend's best is Christian Walker.
06:21I agree with you, man.
06:22That is one reason.
06:24I'll be like, Christian, obviously, Jordan.
06:26Jordan.
06:26And Christian.
06:28But Christian's year he's having at the plates really got me hanging in there.
06:32Yeah.
06:33If Christian wasn't swinging the bat, if he wasn't raking right now,
06:35I would probably have a hard time hanging in there with the Astros.
06:39And here I sit probably overconfident given what we've watched this season.
06:44All right.
06:44My weekend's best.
06:45I don't know if you boys – you watch much golf?
06:47A little bit.
06:48Yeah.
06:48I watch a little bit.
06:49I got plugged in yesterday to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
06:53Okay.
06:54I did not catch that.
06:55I had a little too much playoff basketball going on,
06:58but I'm curious to see what you found.
07:00Well, this one took me by surprise.
07:01I mean, it wasn't – I didn't plan on it.
07:03I just – I don't even know it.
07:05I thumbed – I was thumbing the TV.
07:08Hell, I told my little girl, I said,
07:10no, no, you go in there in mom and daddy's room and watch whatever cartoons you want.
07:14I'm into this.
07:14That's how dialed in I was.
07:16Don't do that very often.
07:18But it is a tournament, a PGA tournament, where it's partners, right?
07:23There's two guys on each team.
07:25And the Fitzpatrick brothers, Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick.
07:30Obviously, Matt is a PGA Tour professional winner, really good player.
07:34And his brothers, I don't even know – I've lost track of where he's at.
07:37I don't even know if he's still trying and playing on the lower level.
07:40I don't know exactly what his recent history has been.
07:44He was on one of those – what is that title?
07:47What's that documentary that's on Netflix?
07:49Full Throttle, Full Swing?
07:50Full Swing, yeah.
07:51Full Swing.
07:51By the way, new episode, new season out.
07:53And I've started watching it pretty good.
07:56But a lot of these guys are just random friends.
07:59You know, Rory and – golly, what's the – what's the Irishman that Rory –
08:05the kind of heavier set guy that Rory always teammates with?
08:08Oh, I know him too.
08:09I can see his face.
08:11That was pretty cool.
08:11It was a childhood friend he came up with that he won it one year.
08:15Not DeChambeau.
08:16No, no.
08:17What's his name, man?
08:18What is his name?
08:19They got a really cool relationship, man.
08:21It's a big story during the Ryder Cup and all that.
08:26Anyway, he's one of the top players in Europe.
08:27Anyway, this story is big time.
08:30Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick won that Joker.
08:33Shane Lowry.
08:34Shane Lowry.
08:35There you go.
08:35Yep.
08:36Shane Lowry.
08:36Mike Lowry.
08:39But Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick won this thing.
08:43And I couldn't help but put myself in Alex's shoes.
08:47Because I know Matt – Matt ain't worried about where that next meal is coming from.
08:50Matt ain't too worried about the house note, the car note.
08:55I don't know if he's married or not.
08:56I don't think his wife's too worried about the next meal.
08:58Kids are probably pretty happy, pretty settled in.
09:00Yeah, he's probably good.
09:01I think little brother might be going, hey, man, am I going to be able to pay these bills next
09:08month?
09:09Am I going to be able to keep playing golf?
09:10Hey, man, them boys, $1.3 million each.
09:17Each?
09:18Each.
09:19Okay.
09:20They took home a total of $2.745 million.
09:25Split it down the middle, $1.372 million each.
09:29And little brother, Alex, dips him off in the sand trap next to the green.
09:34And it's tied.
09:35If this shot – I mean, if this shot don't – you know, this is win or lose.
09:43And Matt Fitzpatrick hits a sand shot up to within about two foot of the pin.
09:48And little brother tips it in for a million dollars.
09:50Could you imagine?
09:51It's one thing to watch these PGA guys that are worth millions of dollars and used to play them for
09:55millions.
09:55It's one thing to see those guys – hey, man, let me knock this in for a million.
09:59But when you're standing over that two-foot putt and you ain't making millions a year
10:03and you're fixing to make $1.2 at the end of that joint –
10:06It's basically a $1.2 million putt.
10:09Hey, I put myself in Alex's shoes.
10:11I said, boy, Alex, you got to be amped.
10:13Boy, I mean, you think about what he just did for his little brother.
10:16His little brother – I mean, assuming he's somewhat responsible.
10:20His little brother, you got $1.3 million.
10:22Hey, man, you got you a good three, four years of just solid security,
10:26not ever having to worry about where anything comes from.
10:28Yeah, you can choose your work if you choose to work at all.
10:32That's right.
10:32That's right.
10:33This is the epitome of being your brother's keeper, though.
10:36Yeah, I mean –
10:36We're talking about breaking bread with the family, right?
10:38Family first.
10:39That's right.
10:40That's what it looked like.
10:41This is what it looked like.
10:42This is what family and community looked like right here.
10:44That's right.
10:45I mean, could you imagine – hey, little brother, I just won you $1.3 million.
10:48Tell me.
10:49They each get 400 FedEx Cups.
10:51So, I guess – FedEx Cup points.
10:52So, I guess you do have to be a member of the PGA Tour to play, I guess.
10:57Two-year PGA Tour exemption.
10:59So, what Matt Fitzpatrick's doing for his little brother, Alex,
11:02with winning that damn – that Zurich Classic of New Orleans was big time.
11:08Yeah.
11:08And that was fun to watch.
11:09I mean, watching brothers do it's pretty cool.
11:11I was going to say, winning $1.3 million is cool to do with a stranger.
11:14Like, I win $1.3 million with my worst enemy.
11:18That's right.
11:18To do it with your brother has got to be doubly cool.
11:21That's – it was fun.
11:24Shane Lowry and Rory did it, and that was cool because they had so much history.
11:29But brothers, that's a different deal, man.
