00:00he wants to be friends with everyone but the other cats were not accepting of him

00:26i actually found out later that he had been dumped so he was just a stray who had been on

00:31a few years and was really mistrusting of humans but he also was not truly feral like the other
00:38ones were so i was like i think i can work with this if he learns that i can be
00:42trusted
00:50i isolated him in my bathroom away from my other cats anytime i was in the bathroom he was hiding
00:56dirt like scrunched up behind the toilet i would bring food in and i would sit and eat my dinner
01:03in the same room while i had his dinner for him i had to go through a whole process of
01:09teaching him
01:10not to be afraid of my hand when i got closer to him you're doing great baby you're doing so

01:28once i knew that joe and i had established a solid trusting relationship i was ready to introduce him
01:34to my other three cats i bought a mesh screen that you attach to the door
01:39and so they were able to start getting face time without actually physically having access to each
01:44other my cat blaze would come up to the door and just like roll on his back and like i
01:49would say
01:49it was them flirting with each other there's no he gets angry joe cats can be finicky and unpredictable
02:02and something kind of switched blaze was like actually never mind i don't like you
02:09it got very stressful for a while i actually had to do a reintroduction
02:18being in the bedroom again with just me and him went to the next level of him being confident and
02:23trusting me and snuggly the second time i introduced him to the cats has gone so much better
02:35baby is the boss in this house so i knew she was going to be the hardest one for him
02:39to win over
02:41anytime she's snuggled up on the couch he gets close enough to where he can be near her
02:47and she quickly shuts it down
02:54there was one evening where she was sleeping in the recliner and i see him jump up in the recliner

02:59to her and i'm fully prepared for the typical hiss swat but she just kind of looked at him
03:21i was like oh my god it's finally happening i'm so happy right now
03:27i knew joe wanted a friend so badly i was just so happy for him that he finally was like

03:34maybe she does like me a little bit i think anybody with cats knows that it's kind of different day

03:41day there's always going to be some dynamic but it's just such a difference from when we first started to
03:46where we are now i love being able to see all these different sides of joe as he gets more
03:51and more
03:52confident and happy in his new home
