00:00Now, how about the fallout?
00:01Because we're going to continue to hear it, Joe.
00:02You had a great topic here to start the day on Caffeinated Joe.
00:05Red Sox veteran Trevor Story says Alex Cora and his staff didn't get a fair shake.
00:10You know what I like to say?
00:10Hey, Trevor, look at your batting average.
00:12That's part of the reason why those guys are no longer coaching.
00:16Yeah, I mean, listen, it's, let's first say, like,
00:19Alex Cora will be unemployed for three minutes here.
00:23He'll, whatever the first job opening that comes available,
00:26if it is Philadelphia, Donnie, get ready.
00:29Obviously, Alex Cora will be the top name.
00:31Yeah, he'll be the first name there.
00:33So, but, you know, it's odd.
00:37It really is odd, the timing of it here.
00:41Because I don't like this roster.
00:42I think the way it was built, and I'm sure Alex Cora and the rest of his staff
00:47were like, what do you want us to do with 19 DHs and outfielders here?
00:51What are we supposed to do with this thing?
00:53And here's Breslone's working relationship with Cora,
00:56or was a good working relationship.
00:58Right, now would you characterize what your working relationship was like
01:01with Alex, you know, you're doing this season,
01:04and is that part of the equation here that you guys are no longer as aligned
01:07as you want it to be?
01:08You know, I actually think I have a very good working relationship with Alex.
01:13Certainly, neither of us was, you know,
01:16was satisfied with the start that we got off to,
01:19but we continued to bounce ideas off of each other to put all potential solutions on the table.
01:26Ultimately, you know, as an organization, as a baseball operation, alongside ownership,
01:31we reached the decision yesterday to make these changes.
01:36You know how crazy that it is, too?
01:37Like, you just take a look at that video right there.
01:39Like, he's in front of the Orioles logo as opposed to like a Red Sox thing.
01:42Like, how quickly that came together, and they couldn't even put something
01:45with a Boston Red Sox logo in the background,
01:47they're going to be answering a lot of questions.
01:48But as we pointed out, Joe, it wasn't just, hey, we let the manager go.
01:51We let everybody go who was coaching anybody anywhere with the big league team.
01:57Well, yeah, they fired Veritek, who was like the game player,
02:01but they didn't fire him.
02:03They're reassigning him to somewhere in the organization.
02:07They haven't said what, because I think they know there would have been riots in the streets
02:10if you got rid of Veritek as well.
02:13So, yeah.
02:15The best was the post before all the fired guys were about to get on a private jet
02:22and leave Baltimore, and they all posted a picture together, all smiles.
02:26You know, good luck, Boston.
02:28Good luck.
02:30Yeah, good luck with that.
02:31And by the way, on the predictive markets here,
02:32to be the next manager of the Boston Red Sox,
02:35and also not the interim manager, the next manager,
02:37David Ortiz with a 40% chance.
02:40Big poppy in the dugout?
02:42Say it isn't so.
02:44It isn't so.
02:45I mean, it's baseball guys versus the front office analytic guys.
02:51And, yeah, that's a battle.
02:53And John Henry, by the way, just sitting there, doesn't address the team,
02:57doesn't say two words about anything, the owner, and just like that.
03:01So, it sounds to me like they are much more interested in the younger guys,
03:06which is why they brought up the double-A manager to be the interim manager,
03:10than worried about any of the vets on the team that might have problems.
