00:00NBA playoffs, four games yesterday.
00:04There's a couple of interesting games.
00:06I watched a lot of the Raptors-Cavs game.
00:09The one thing that really, if you didn't watch it and you look at the box score,
00:12you're going to go, oh my gosh.
00:13First of all, it must have been a great defensive game because it ended up 93-89.
00:19And look, the team-
00:20Bad shooting, I know where you're going.
00:21Oh yeah.
00:22The teams were much better.
00:24All these teams are much better defensively because these games matter.
00:28So a lot of these teams are just playing a lot harder.
00:30You know, they're playing their stars, so they're, you know, longer minutes.
00:34But if you looked at the box score of the Cleveland-Toronto game,
00:39and this was game four, so now it's tied.
00:42Toronto wins by four.
00:43I believe they were combined 14 for 70 from three.
00:47No.
00:48That's correct.
00:5014 for 70.
00:52Toronto was four for 30.
00:53Yeah.
00:54It was just crazy that nothing would drop for either team, really.
00:58And Cleveland had, I don't know, about a three-point lead pretty late.
01:01I want to say 40 or 50 seconds, something like that.
01:05Scotty Barnes played awesome, especially in the fourth quarter.
01:08But Toronto beats Cleveland to tie the series 93-89.
01:13Well, Cleveland's not going to win if you're best player, which is Donovan Mitchell.
01:16I know James Harden is good.
01:17They added him.
01:19He goes six for 24.
01:21Yeah.
01:21It was just a bad shooting night.
01:23And it was not just him.
01:25It was a lot of guys.
01:27But Toronto gets the win.
01:28They win by four.
01:30So they'll go back to Cleveland for game five.
01:32The Spurs.
01:33By the way, that looks like a 1991 NBA playoff game score.
01:38Right.
01:38Like that 93-89 is bizarre.
01:40Yeah.
01:41But back then, you weren't having 73s at times.
01:44Right.
01:44That's true.
01:45The Spurs were trailing pretty big, too.
01:48I think they trailed by 17 at the half.
01:5017 at the half.
01:51But they outscored Portland by 17 in the third and by 21 in the fourth.
01:57And they win by 21.
01:59Wemby's just such a big defensive force.
02:02So he did miss one game, concussion protocol.
02:05But he came back.
02:06And he didn't have a great first half.
02:08But he stepped it up in the second half.
02:10And I think he finished with seven blocks.
02:12I think he had seven blocks.
02:13He had four steals as well.
02:14So he had 27, 12 boards, four steals, seven blocks.
02:19Could you imagine going into the lane?
02:21That's a game.
02:22Yeah, exactly.
02:23Imagine, like, beating your man, getting in the lane, and then Wemby's there.
02:27No.
02:27I mean, not even as a sub-six-foot shrimp, let alone a seven-footer,
02:32and he's just going to swat you into the first two rows.
02:34Yeah, I mean, you've got to kick it out.
02:36You've got to find someone on the perimeter and kick it out.
02:37You're generally not going to challenge him.
02:39I mean, unless you're his height or close, you're not getting the ball over him.
02:43My guy, Luka Light, Denny Avdia, had a good game.
02:45But, like, he goes into the lane a couple times.
02:48And then there's Wemby.
02:49Like, Wemby doesn't even look like he's close to you.
02:52But he's so tall and long that you'd think you'd have a layup or kind of a bank shot off
02:57the glass from four feet.
02:58And he just extends that arm like plastic, man.
03:02Yeah, that's crazy.
03:02And he blocks it.
03:03So, they take a 3-1 lead over Portland.
03:07The Celtics, they bombed the Sixers 128-96.
03:11Tatum had 30 and 11 assists.
03:14Peyton Pritchard had 32 off the bench.
03:16Yep.
03:17Hey, Drab, do you follow Oregon hoops?
03:20Like, was he silly at Oregon?
03:24He was very good.
03:25And Oregon was much better back then.
03:26He's a phenomenal ball handler and reliable shooter.
03:30But I think his NBA career has gone far beyond what anyone ever expected.
03:33I was going to say, he's gotten better as a player.
03:36I mean, he's, yeah, really developed in the NBA.
03:39I mean, especially how tiny he is compared to a lot of these guys.
03:42Yeah, he's just – but he can shoot it.
03:45So, they win 128-96.
03:47So, they take a 3-1 lead over Philly.
03:49And then the Rockets beat the Lakers 115-96.
03:55Lakers still lead that series 3-1.
03:57But you wanted to talk about the Friday comeback by the Lakers.
03:59Well, Friday night I watched the game.
04:01And they should have lost.
04:05You know, Kendrick Perkins has flat out called the Houston Rockets a dumb team.
04:09And I think he's accurate.
04:11So, with less than 30 seconds to go, the Rockets have a six-point lead and the ball.
04:18Mm-hmm.
04:19And Jabari Smith, for some reason, has dribbled the ball up the court.
04:24So, they don't really have a point guard.
04:26They use Reed Shepard.
04:27But he's kind of a combo guy.
04:29Yep.
04:31But Jabari Smith, not even really guarded.
04:34He just jumps up in the air and, like, throws this awful pass that Marcus Smart picks off.
04:40Mm-hmm.
04:40Okay.
04:41Six-point lead.
04:42Marcus Smart then gets the three-point line, pulls up.
04:44They foul him.
04:45Okay.
04:45So, he hits three free throws.
04:47All right.
04:47So, down three.
04:47But still, you have the ball and a three-point lead.
04:51Then, credit LeBron James.
04:53They double-team Reed Shepard.
04:55He has Sengun wide open to the left.
04:58But for some reason, he tries to split the double-team.
05:01I think it was Rui Hachimura and LeBron.
05:03LeBron back-taps it to Marcus Smart.
05:07Marcus Smart throws the pass to LeBron.
05:09He passes to Kennard.
05:10Kennard back to LeBron.
05:11LeBron hits a three.
05:12They tie the game, goes into overtime, and they win the game in overtime.
05:15Like, it was a 97% chance to win the game when you have the six-point lead and the
05:21ball.
05:22So, really, just an incredible game.
05:24And they're doing this, you know, without Austin Reeves, without Luka Doncic.
05:30That was a massive game.
05:31And I think that this game four loss, now, I didn't watch it last night, but it just feels like
05:36a game where you're checked out a little bit mentally.
05:38Well, the Lakers had 23 turnovers.
05:40Like, they couldn't have been sloppier with the ball.
05:42I know LeBron only finished with 10 points, but all these guys who have been stepping up, like Luke Kennard,
05:47Marcus Smart, they all kind of had off games.
05:50But it's like, you know the mission when you're up 2-0, when you go on the road, is just
05:54get one.
05:55Right.
05:55Right?
05:56And then it can be gentleman sweep.
05:57There was no pressure to win.
05:58You win in game five.
06:00So, that's just what it would have.
06:02Not watch it.
06:02That's what it feels like.
06:03But that game three was incredible.
06:06That is terrible.
06:07And to watch LeBron, and I know he had a bad game last night.
06:10I've never been a LeBron fan.
06:12I've always truted against him.
06:14But he's 41 years old.
06:17And he's making huge plays.
06:19Now, he took the night off last night.
06:21Yes.
06:21But like you said, he was making huge plays in game three.
06:23And he's supposedly, you know, one of the raps against him is he's not a clutch player.
06:28That was a huge clutch, you know, back tap, steal, and then three.
06:36So, it was pretty awesome to watch on Friday night.
06:39So, tonight, you've got three games.
06:41Detroit's in Orlando game four.
06:44Orlando leads that series 2-1.
06:46The Thunder probably close out the series tonight, and Phoenix are up 3-0.
06:50Yeah, no gentleman sweep there.
06:51That's just going to be a good old-fashioned sweep.
06:53Yeah, and they, I believe they're 11-point favorites.
06:56And then the T-Wolves are up 3-1, and they're in Denver for game four.
07:01But Anthony Edwards is out for a while.
07:04Yeah, they lost DiVincenzo as well.
07:06He tore his Achilles.
07:08So, he's out.
07:09And then Anthony Edwards is out for a while.
07:11But, yeah, the Nuggets have kind of underperformed in this series.
07:15Gobert plays good defense on the Joker.
07:18All right, real quick.
07:19The Nats beat the White Sox, win that series 2-1 in 10 innings.
07:25Only eight hits in the game combined, but the Nats get that win 2-1, which is great.
07:30And then now they have the day off.
07:34They haven't had a day off in, I believe, 17 days.
07:36And now they get the Mets.
07:38They've got to go to New York.
07:39The Mets have lost 15 of the last 17.
07:41The Mets were swept by the Rockies yesterday, 3-1 and 3-0.
07:44So, the Mets are a complete mess.
07:47Foster Griffin, really good yesterday.
07:49He was really good.
07:50Just allowed two hits.
07:51He already down to 2-6-7.
07:53Seven innings, two hits.
07:54Didn't allow a run.
07:55Struck out eight.
07:56So, he's clearly their best starter.
07:58So, nice job for the Nats getting that win in Chicago.
08:01And, of course, James Wood up to 10 home runs.
08:04Yep.
08:05And a ton of walks, too.
08:07Ton of walks.
08:08He's been walked 28 times.
08:11But they get the Mets.
08:12Got to take advantage of the Mets.
08:14The Mets have no idea what they're doing.
08:16They're actually horrible.
08:19So, let's get the series against the Mets.
08:21And your boys, the Boston Red Sox, they fired their manager.
08:24I know.
08:24On a day where they won 17-1.
08:26Housecleaning in Boston.
08:27Well, that's because Craig Breslow, who's the president of Baseball Ops,
08:31didn't hire Cora.
08:32So, he wants to put his own little stamp on this team.
08:35And, look, the team hasn't been playing well.
08:37But it's all on Breslow now.
08:41It's all on him.
08:42Some of the big salary teams have struggled out the gates,
08:45including the Mets, the Phillies.
08:48Yeah, of course.
08:50Red Sox in last place.
08:51I mean, the Phillies and the Mets are 10-1⁄2 games back already.
08:54The Dodgers have not.
08:55They're fine.
08:5610 games over .500.
08:57No, they'll be all right.
08:59Yeah.
08:59They're doing okay.
09:00Coming up next,
09:01we'll check in with John Keim, ESPN.com reporter,
09:05covers the commanders as we talk NFL draft here on the Junkies.
09:09We'll see you next time.
09:09Let's look at this.
