00:00Coming up at 8, we are drafting the Draft Insiders.
00:03The Draft Order is officially set.
00:05It is?
00:05It was set during the break.
00:06Oh, really?
00:06Yes.
00:07Here's the order from 7 to 1.
00:10Boots on the ground, Mike Barr, picking 7th.
00:13Valdez will pick 6th.
00:15E. Bizzle picks 5th.
00:17John Paul Flame is picking 4th.
00:20Bish Bucks in the 3-hole.
00:22Drab T-shirt picking 2nd.
00:24Cakes is officially on the clock.
00:27So Walter Football is going to go number 1.
00:30I don't want to tip my hand as to who I'm going to select first overall.
00:35Well, the guy I was talking about yesterday, he's been really accurate over the last 5 or 6 drafts.
00:42This is what I read.
00:43But his latest mock was...
00:46You didn't like it?
00:47No, it's fine, but it was 9 days ago.
00:50Well, he needs to get on the stick.
00:52I mean, unless I'm missing something, I pulled it up and the latest one I could find was April 13th.
00:57If you consider yourself a draft expert at this point, you can't have a 9-day-old mock just floating
01:02around out there.
01:04You'd be right on it.
01:06I know who you're talking about.
01:08You do?
01:08Yeah.
01:09So his first name starts with a B.
01:11Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:12And, I mean, I think he's really good, but I don't know why he hasn't put one out in the
01:16last 48 hours.
01:17Unless he puts one out today.
01:19Yeah, I don't know.
01:19He probably will put one more out before.
01:21But I was listening to Grant and Logan talk about it, and they made up a great point that, you
01:27know,
01:27with all this, like, out-of-nowhere Arizona stuff, drafting Jeremiah Love,
01:32that it's just an obvious play to try to get people to trade up.
01:37Sure.
01:38They're just not going to draft Jeremiah Love there.
01:41You know, just an obvious play.
01:43Everyone's talking about it.
01:44They're obviously trying to get the word out there to drum up support.
01:47They want people to jump up and pay a ransom for the pick.
01:50Makes a lot of sense.
01:50But they also could use them.
01:52Sure, they could, but they could also use a lot of things.
01:54Yeah.
01:54And they don't even have necessarily the guys up front to help them be successful.
01:59They just have a lot of needs, and that just...
02:02It seems pretty transparent, what they're doing.
02:04Yeah, yeah, it makes sense to me.
02:07But it doesn't mean he's not going to go in the top five.
02:09I think most people think he's going to go in the top five.
02:11And I know Jason disagrees with me, but, you know, I can see all the players in the draft.
02:16But from what I've seen, he looks like the best player in the draft to me.
02:19And I think a lot of people think he's the best player in the draft.
02:21So he's not going to fall too far.
02:23Yeah.
02:23I mean, look, he could be a superstar.
02:26Yeah.
02:27He could.
02:27I just think that this team needs...
02:31And I wouldn't hate it if they drafted him.
02:33I just think this team needs other positions first.
02:37I don't even think it's worth pondering, because I don't think he'll be anywhere near there.
02:42Yeah, you're probably right.
02:43I think he'll be long gone.
02:45But it is interesting that, you know, I think I give a lot of credit to Logan and Grant for
02:50saying, you know, that that's just obvious, transparent, that they're just trying to get
02:54a team to jump in there, to be afraid that they're going to take love.
02:57And all of a sudden, like seven or eight days before the draft, he's just suddenly linked
03:01to the Cardinals.
03:02There's no chance, and everybody knows, especially, let's just use Washington, for example, and
03:08they're notoriously quiet, but we've heard in the last 24 hours, three different guys
03:13that allegedly they're targeting, right, for probably three different sources.
03:17They're not telling anybody.
03:18I don't even care if it's Peter Schrager, somebody's best friend.
03:21You know, they know what they're doing.
03:23They're leaking.
03:24There is a part of me that thinks they might draft a wild card, you know, not like some guy
03:31that would be ranked 24th, but maybe somebody that others, you know, like a Jordan Tyson.
03:35Everyone assumes it's Cardinal Tate, but it's actually a one-to-receiver, but they like Tate.
03:38Or they like Tyson.
03:39Or they like the Lemon.
03:41We don't know.
03:42We have no idea.
03:43It does certainly, like, I actually think that Cardinal Tate stuff is funny because there
03:47seems to be a lot of consensus the last few days.
03:49I think it's going to be Tate.
03:51I think it's going to be Tate.
03:51You know, just the podcasters, the YouTubers, the, you know, the mockers.
03:57And I'm just like, maybe it is Tate.
04:00And that'd be fine.
04:01I'll support it.
04:02But I just don't think they're telling anybody.
04:04The anticipation for this draft is kind of crazy.
04:08Should be fun tomorrow night.
04:09Of course, we're going to be.
04:10I mean, last year there was no anticipation.
04:12Yeah.
04:12Because they were drafting so low.
04:14Yeah.
04:14I'm sorry.
04:14Hold on.
04:15And then the year before, you kind of knew what position they were going for.
04:19It was exciting.
04:20And you kind of knew who it was going to be.
04:22But this year it's totally different.
04:24Sorry.
04:24Of course, tomorrow night we're in Honor Brewing.
04:26Hang out with us.
04:27You got to be on live from 630 to 8.
04:30Did you say tonight or tomorrow night?
04:31Tomorrow night.
04:32You have to mention Loudon.
04:33And I know you have.
04:34But like my wife pointed out yesterday, she's like, well, which one are you going to?
04:37I go, I don't know.
04:38The one I've been to.
04:38She goes, there's three of them.
04:40And I go, oh.
04:41It's the one in Sterling slash Ashburn.
04:42Say it every time.
04:44Of course, we're going to be on from 630 to 8.
04:46Grant and Danny take over from 8 to 11.
04:49Honor Brewing located at 42604 Trade West Drive.
04:53Technically Sterling.
04:54Jason likes to say Ashburn.
04:56If you want to say Loudon, say all of the above.
04:58I Googled Loudon.
04:59That's the one I've been to.
05:00That's the one that you need to go to tomorrow night.
05:03The reason I say Ashburn is because it's five minutes from my house.
05:06Perfect.
05:06And I live in Ashburn.
05:07Even though technically, I guess the mailing address would be Sterling.
05:10Let's open up the Junkies sports page.
05:12I watched some NBA playoffs last night and a couple of upsets.
05:15Hey, did you see the story that ESPN did on one of their draft specials about Jeremiah Love when he
05:23was growing up?
05:24He grew up in St. Louis or just outside of St. Louis.
05:28And when he was really young, he was just kind of a loner.
05:31And he was just, I don't know.
05:34I guess the word they used was standoffish when he was younger.
05:38And then the dad, Jason Love, would kind of yell at Jeremiah growing up saying, hey, come on.
05:42You've got to be a team player.
05:44You've got to be feisty.
05:46And Jeremiah Love was just kind of chill.
05:48So they went to the doctor.
05:49They thought he could have been autistic.
05:51They thought he could have been on the spectrum.
05:54They never had it diagnosed.
05:56And Jeremiah Love was talking about it.
05:58He goes, no, that's just the way I am.
06:00That's just the way I am.
06:02Different personalities.
06:03Yeah, it was a really cool story.
06:05Sometimes personalities change, too.
06:07Some kids are shy early, and then they become.
06:10They blossom.
06:11Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:11Of course.
06:12More outgoing later in life.
06:13And if you listen to interviews now with him, he just seems like a normal dude, outgoing guy.
06:17But he seems like a really cool dude.
06:20I think he taught himself Japanese.
06:23Oh, really?
06:24Yeah.
06:25I'll tell you, if he was there, I would sprint to the podium to get him.
06:29I just don't think he's going to be available.
06:31I don't think it's our top need, either.
06:34I just think he's the best player in the draft.
06:35And he would be super explosive for us.
06:37And how about this?
06:38As a wild card, if you think you don't have enough receivers, put him out wide.
06:45Have him run a bunch of receiver routes.
06:47He's got that kind of talent.
06:48Yeah.
06:49I agree.
06:50Yeah.
06:50He can definitely catch balls out of the backfield.
06:52There's no doubt about that.
06:53All right.
06:53So you were talking about the NBA last night.
06:55I watched a little bit of the Sixers-Celtics game.
06:58That's a stunner to me.
07:00Well, Edgecombe and Maxie.
07:02Well, look.
07:04Philadelphia hit 19 threes.
07:06But Edgecombe and Maxie, I think, combined for 59 points.
07:09Edgecombe ended up with 30 and 10.
07:13Is that a rookie record in a playoff game, to have 30 and 10?
07:16I saw something that he set a record.
07:19But Maxie didn't shoot the ball great, but he ended up putting up huge numbers.
07:23And the Celtics did not shoot the ball great.
07:25So the Sixers go into Boston and win handily and even the series.
07:29That was the first time it's been done since Duncan did it in 98.
07:33They didn't shoot the ball great, but they shot almost 50% from threes.
07:37That's really all that matters.
07:38That's what they do.
07:39The surprising thing to me is...
07:41I think they combined for 11 threes.
07:43I would give the Sixers more of a chance if Joel Embiid was playing.
07:46He's not.
07:47He's not.
07:48I know.
07:48So really impressive win for the 76ers in Boston.
07:53In Boston.
07:55Portland went into San Antonio and won by three.
07:58Spurs had a pretty big lead in the fourth quarter, but the story here was Wemby only played 12 minutes
08:05because he got a concussion.
08:06If he doesn't get the concussion, they win.
08:08Are they going to hold him out now?
08:10He's in protocol.
08:12He's in protocol.
08:13He had a tough fall.
08:15Yeah.
08:15I mean, somebody that tall...
08:17Did you see the replay of the ball?
08:18Yeah, I mean, his face smashes the floor.
08:21I know.
08:24Yeah, I mean, that could totally change everything.
08:27They got a big game from Scoot Henderson yesterday.
08:30Yep.
08:3131.
08:32But when your star player only plays a quarter, I mean, if he plays, they win the game and they're
08:38up 2-0.
08:39Most likely.
08:40But they're not.
08:41It's 1-1.
08:42Going back to Portland, it'll be 1-1.
08:43And then the Lakers took a 2-0 lead over Houston.
08:46Durant did play, but LeBron at 28, I saw that he's the oldest guy to have 25 points in a
08:55playoff game, which, not surprising.
08:58I was watching the highlights this morning.
09:00He had several dunks.
09:01I watched the first quarter and then I went to bed.
09:03In the first quarter, Marcus Smart was just on fire hitting threes.
09:08Then Luke Kennard had a stretch where he was taking over.
09:12Marcus Smart, I think he had four three-pointers in the first quarter.
09:16Yeah.
09:17He did suit up.
09:17He played in games here.
09:18A few.
09:19Yeah, just a few.
09:20Definitely played in games.
09:21Not long.
09:22Probably not long, but I remember him being here.
09:25I feel like maybe he played over 20.
09:27A quarter of a season?
09:28I know everyone's going to go look at that.
09:29It's a way station for him.
09:31Yeah.
09:31Let's see.
09:33Washington, 15.
09:34Yeah, 15.
09:35Started one game, played 15.
09:37Yeah, I mean, there's ex-Wizards starring in the NBA playoffs.
09:41Of course, C.J. McCollum tore it up the other night for the Hawks when they knocked off
09:48The Knicks.
09:49The Knicks.
09:50Yep.
09:50But the Lakers up 2-0.
09:52That's significant because they're doing it without Luka Doncic, doing it without Austin
09:55Reeves.
09:56What are they saying about Luka, his comeback?
09:58He's out for this series, but possibly the next?
10:01There's been some speculation that he would be able to come back in this series.
10:05Don't know.
10:05He went over to, what, Spain to have injections because he's got the grade 2 hamstring strain,
10:11and then Austin Reeves has an oblique strain.
10:15His timeline was four to six weeks.
10:17So, hey, when you go up 2-0, it gives you some room to maybe rest him a little longer.
10:23So, they're up 2-0.
10:24Go back to Houston for game three.
10:25Tonight, there's just two games.
10:27Orlando is at Detroit.
10:28Game two there.
10:29Detroit's up 1-0.
10:30Seven o'clock tip.
10:31And then the nine...
10:32No, Detroit's down 1-0.
10:33I'm sorry, Detroit's down.
10:35Sorry.
10:35Orlando's up 1-0.
10:36And then Phoenix is at Oklahoma State for game two.
10:40That's a 9-30 tip.
10:41Oklahoma City just smashed them in the first game.
10:43Yeah, and they probably will again.
10:45I told you, I don't love best of seven in the first round.
10:48I heard a nugget, at least in the first, either the first two days of the NBA playoffs or the
10:56first day.
10:57The average victory for the home teams was 17 points.
11:02So, they're not even close.
11:03Now, yesterday changed the narrative a little bit.
11:07But imagine if it was best of three.
11:08Then all of a sudden, everything's on the line in the next game.
11:11Can't we split the difference, just do best of five in the first round?
11:14Is that what you would want?
11:15And then graduate the best of seven.
11:16Oh, they're not going to do that.
11:17That was best of five, and they said, let's add some more money.
11:20I know.
11:20Let's go back to best of five.
11:22You need all five games in the first round of OKC?
11:25I mean, I think best of three is a little bit gimmicky.
11:28Like, you split the difference between seven and three, go with five.
11:31I know, but you could say it's gimmicky in Major League Baseball, the wildcard games, in the NCAA tournament, which
11:39I think you're a fan of.
11:40It's one game.
11:42No, they changed it.
11:43The wildcard game's not one game.
11:45I know.
11:45I said best.
11:46They're expanding it.
11:48I understand.
11:48Postseason is getting expanded.
11:49But my point is, it's not always best of five.
11:51Oh, well, you know, next.
11:53The reason it's not best of three or best of, you know, a shorter series is because of the weather.
11:58That's why they don't do it in baseball.
12:01But NCAA tournament's one game, and we all love it.
12:03Like, if it was best of three right now, and game three was Sixers-Celtics, there would be huge intrigue
12:10on that.
12:10All right.
12:11Well, they're never going back to best of three.
12:13And they're probably not going back to best of five.
12:15Probably not.
12:16But anyway, so two games tonight, I just mentioned.
12:19Cakes, I don't know if you're paying attention to the NHL playoffs.
12:23There were four games last night.
12:26How many overtimes?
12:27It seems like every time I look up, it's an overtime game.
12:31Actually, two last night.
12:32Two last night.
12:32Tampa won an overtime over Montreal to tie that series.
12:36The Lanch beat the Kings in overtime.
12:38They're up 2-0.
12:40Mammoth beat Vegas in Vegas.
12:42And then the Bruins beat the Sabres.
12:44Are you betting on all these, even though you don't care about any of these teams?
12:47Not in hockey.
12:49No, you're out.
12:49NBA, yeah.
12:50But D&D's, no, not at all.
12:51By the way, did you guys see the clip?
12:53It went a little bit viral.
12:54Did you see how many guys were in the penalty box in the Boston Buffalo game?
12:58I did not see that.
12:59Oh.
13:00There was like eight.
13:01Did you guys see Nick Dowd coming off the bench, basically screaming, I'm going to kill
13:06you at some time on the Mammoth?
13:08He was.
13:09Oh, really?
13:10Apparently, he's like that.
13:11Apparently, that's how he plays.
13:12Is he feisty?
13:13Feisty dude.
13:14Yeah.
13:14Feisty.
13:15Feisty.
13:15He says, next time I see you, I'm going to effing kill you.
13:18He's a fiery dude.
13:19That's what he said.
13:20Mm-hmm.
13:21I think he says, I'm looking for you or something.
13:23Yeah.
13:24Right.
13:26Well, that would, if you said that to me, that would get me fired up.
13:29Put a scare in you.
13:30I don't know, but I think I couldn't take that kind of disrespect.
13:34Yeah, so, but there were a ton of fights, and well, I think it was towards the end of
13:38the game in the Boston Buffalo game, and Buffalo had a crazy comeback in game one, and they
13:44were trying to do it again in game two.
13:46Didn't happen.
13:47Boston won.
13:47But there was a ton of fights, and I saw eight guys in the penalty box at one point.
13:51That's crazy.
13:52Four each.
13:53We started the show talking about the Nats.
13:57They beat the Braves 11-4.
14:00Foster Griffin improves to 3-0.
14:02His ERA, I believe, is just around 3-3.
14:05Yeah.
14:053-3-8.
14:07Right.
14:07So, nice job for him.
14:08He's obviously their best starter.
14:10The bullpen held on.
14:11They did fine.
14:12Bullpen was fine.
14:13They pounded out 10 hits.
14:16They walked 12 times.
14:18Braves, the pitchers, walked the Nats 12 times.
14:22And you mentioned James Woods had four.
14:23James Woods had four, and Wood hit number eight.
14:27He went one for two, scored three runs.
14:29Garcia had four hits.
14:31Casey Meade hit another home run.
14:33I believe, I think it was a pinch hit home run.
14:36Can we dismiss the talking point that we had early in the season, that the new staff
14:41wanted him to just pull the ball all the time?
14:44Yes.
14:44Now he's hit five opposite field bombs.
14:47Yes, you can dismiss it.
14:48That was a rumor from someone who works here.
14:53I'm not firm with someone's father.
14:56Has it been debunked?
14:57Yeah.
14:57It was totally false.
15:02The guy's got five opposite field home runs.
15:05Yes.
15:05Clearly, he's not just trying to pull the ball.
15:07It's his strength.
15:09Yeah.
15:10And then we also talked about the Phillies.
15:12Phillies, they lost their seventh straight.
15:15All right.
15:15So they lost to the Cubs, who have won seven straight, seven, four.
15:19And the Mets had a three-nothing lead.
15:21I think they were perfect through five.
15:23And then they go to the ninth.
15:25They hand it to Devin Williams, their closer, who signed a huge deal in the offseason to become
15:31their guy.
15:32He blew it.
15:33And they lose that game.
15:35And they've lost 12 straight.
15:36So the Phillies and Mets have lost 19 consecutive games combined.
15:40The Mets are already, I think, eight or eight and a half games out in the division.
15:46They're seven and 16.
15:47I mean, it borderline dooms you when you get off to that.
15:50I mean, think about that.
15:51That a start.
15:53The Mets, it's April 22nd or eight and a half games out of first.
15:57Hey, well, at least they don't have a big payroll.
15:59They don't have a big payroll.
16:00Imagine being Steve Cohen and pouring 300-plus million into your payroll.
16:04Is he going to turn into, like, the MLB's Dan Snyder?
16:10Like a guy.
16:10Because Dan did it early on in his career.
16:12I don't know.
16:12Just throw money at guys who just can't get dubs.
16:15Mm-hmm.
16:16Maybe he will be.
16:17Well, look, Juan Soto's been on the IL for two weeks.
16:20He comes off tonight.
16:21So maybe that's the jump start that they need.
16:23But that's just embarrassing, especially the way they lost.
16:26They came back home to start a nine-game homestand after being on the road for a couple weeks.
16:3211 straight losses, and then they lose this game the way they did.
16:37It's bad.
16:38The Mets are at $370 million, according to the number I'm looking at, for their payroll.
16:42That's unbelievable.
16:433-7-0.
16:44What's the Nats payroll?
16:45About $100, maybe?
16:46Oh, I'd say less than that.
16:47Less than $100, even.
16:48Probably less than that.
16:48I guess if you're adding.
16:49There's $300 million more.
16:50Well, $35 million of it is still going to Strasburg.
16:53Yeah.
16:53On the field payroll.
16:54I think they're cash payroll.
16:55$60, $70 million?
16:57$60 to $65 million.
16:58It's $300 million more in terms of guys that are on the field.
17:00Yep.
17:00Correct.
17:02And I know we're going to talk about Mike Vrabel probably next hour, but he did talk about the issue.
17:09Not really.
17:10He just said a bunch of nothing.
17:13It's the first time he's talked about it.
17:15Yeah.
17:16He said he had difficult conversations with his family.
17:19That's the extent of what he said.
17:20The quote was, I've had some difficult conversations with people I care about.
17:24Yeah.
17:24We'll run the audio later, but yeah.
17:26That's essentially an admission of guilt.
17:28Kind of.
17:29But he didn't.
17:29And I don't blame him per se, but he didn't.
17:32I'm not going to tell you all the details.
17:34Of course not.
17:34Of course not.
17:35I mean, he basically said nothing.
17:37That would be a difficult conversation.
17:39Trying to explain some of the optics.
17:42Yeah.
17:43Yeah.
17:44And he said, he made a point of saying at the end of it, you're going to get the best
17:47version of me.
17:47Right.
17:48Which gives you the idea, you're going to turn over a new leaf.
17:50I think he basically said, I've got to become a different person or a better person.
17:54Well, he said, I'm going to give you the best version of me.
17:57Yeah.
17:57That's what he said.
17:57So, we'll run the audio a little bit later.
18:00There you go.
