09:27And I'm looking at this video, and I notice the firearm sticks out.
09:33It's a black firearm with an extended magazine coming out the bottom.
09:38And the magazine had either some white tape around it, or it was spray painted white.
09:45And then I see the shooter get in the front passenger side of the vehicle, and the vehicle pulls off.
09:54That means I'm looking for at least two people involved in this homicide, the shooter and whoever else is driving.

27:13So, the resident, they were able to show me video of the vehicle on fire.

27:24It had the vehicle going up in flames, but it didn't capture the individuals getting out of the vehicle.
27:34A witness also stated that, before the fire, they were sitting outside when they noticed two vehicles traveling at a
27:43high rate of speed together.
27:47One of them looks like the blue suspect vehicle traveling behind a silver vehicle.
27:55Hopefully, those two vehicles were captured on the LPR.
27:59And then that way, I would know the make and model and who's the register owner of that silver colored
28:06vehicle.

30:28So the good thing is, I was able to retrieve some footage.
30:37On the first camera, you can see two vehicles driving in tandem with each other.
30:45And on the second camera, you can tell it's a silver-colored Nissan Altima.
30:50And the blue suspect vehicle, the Hyundai, that was found burned.
30:55They were traveling together, coming from the Lower Knight Ward, the same area where the homicide occurred.
31:03And I was able to get the license plate on this silver vehicle.
31:06And that vehicle comes back to Dedrick Refuge, also known as Baby B.
31:15Dedrick Refuge has a criminal history that includes felony theft, armed robbery.
31:23He served 10 years hard labor, and he just got out of jail on June of 2022.
31:31So that silver vehicle comes back registered to him.
31:35I'm excited about this, because I'm like, I have something a little more promising.
31:42So I put out a bulletin with Dedrick Refuge and the silver-colored Nissan Altima.
31:49But I put it out department-wide, not to the media, because I didn't want the Nissan Altima to get
31:56burned if I put it out publicly.
32:00I'm going to utilize our VK unit to assist with locating that vehicle or trying to locate this subject.

37:54Marcel Kuscher contacted him.
37:56I have enough now to charge Dedrick Refuge
38:00with accessory after the fact
38:02to second-degree murder.
38:16I was contacted by Vowles and the U.S. Marshals.
38:20They've located Dedrick Refuge,
38:23who is the owner of the silver Nissan Altima
38:29that I think helped Marcel Kuscher
38:32after the homicide of Aaron Lewis
38:34by picking him up in New Orleans East
38:37where the blue suspect vehicle was found burned.
38:42I typed up a search warrant for where he was located,
38:45and I'm hoping to find any items of evidentiary value
38:49to help aid in the homicide investigation of Aaron Lewis.
38:53Persistence has definitely paid off.
38:56I'm very happy with getting the suspects arrested.

39:19Unfortunately, upon executing the search warrant,
39:22I did not find anything of evidentiary value
39:26other than a new cell phone
39:28that belongs to Dedrick Refuge.

39:35and I'll do a search warrant on his new phone
39:37to see if he has any type of communication
39:40with anybody else.
