00:00A lawyer convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol was sentenced to 14 days in jail by the High

00:07Court today.

00:08Justice Aslam Zainuddin imposed the sentence on Chair Wilson, 38, after reviewing a good behavior bond imposed by the magistrate's

00:17court last week.

00:18The judge also ordered Chair to pay a fine of RM12,000 in default 12 months imprisonment and disqualified him

00:26from holding a driving license for two years.

00:28Chair was arrested during a police operation at Jalan Awan Besar heading towards Puchong at about 12.40am on February

00:3627th.

00:38He was accused of driving with an alcohol level of 71mg per 100ml of blood, exceeding the legal limit of

00:4650mg per 100ml and was charged with driving under the influence under Section 45A, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport

00:55Act 1987.

00:56Under the law, individuals who drive under the influence of alcohol face a fine of between RM1,000 and RM6

01:03,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 12 months.
