00:00Do you think the Patriots would be better suited picking at 31, trading up to maybe get a better slot,
00:06or trading for an established player already, potentially, Schlereth?
00:10Which direction would you suggest they go tomorrow night?
00:14Yeah, I mean, I think ultimately you look at the draft right now,
00:18and I've talked to a lot of GMs about this over the years.
00:20There's probably, you know, 15 to 17 guys that really have first-round grades.
00:27And then after pick 17, everybody's a second-rounder.
00:30And so I always look at it like if you can go and make a deal for A.J. Brown,
00:35you know,
00:36and you're talking about 31, like, to me, who gives a crap?
00:40I'll give up 30.
00:41Like, you guys have had plenty of 31s that haven't amounted to much, I'm sure, over the years,
00:46as late as you guys pick all the time over there.
00:49So, you know, I'm sure there's a lot of 31s.
00:52You're like, wow, we'd like to have that one back.
00:54So, you know, I mean, I look at that and I say there's two things strategy-wise.
01:00If you can take that, parlay that pick and get an A.J. Brown, then that's money well spent, right?
01:06That's a big-time move.
01:07Or if you can trade that 31st and parlay more picks in the second round,
01:13because to me 31, there's no difference between 31 and 46.
01:18And so then if you can parlay that and do a couple of later round picks because you know you're
01:24building for the future,
01:25that just from a value standpoint, that makes a lot of sense to me.
01:29And, you know, just from a pure – the only thing you get out of that 31st pick is that
01:35extra year.
01:36And to me, that extra year, if you haven't already made the decision to re-sign that guy
01:41and give him a new contract, then you already know the answer.
01:44Like, if you've got to go into the fifth year and you're still thinking about,
01:47well, we don't know if we're going to pay this guy.
01:49Yeah, you do.
01:50You know you're not going to pay him because you wouldn't get to the fifth year anyway.
