Bruins "unbelievable" win last night! Great effort from Jeremy Swayman, as he stopped 34/36. Greg: "Chippy when they needed to be"
Series now heads to Boston. With all the regular season success at home, does the momentum now shift to the Bruins?
Transcript
00:00Bruins, unbelievable win last night, and the goaltender lights out currently.
00:09Unbelievable.
00:10They were chippy last night.
00:11When they needed to be chippy, they were chippy last night.
00:15Just an excellent effort from the Boston Bruins in that shutout last night.
00:20Yeah, Zdorov saying, don't punk my goalie.
00:23I feel like they answered in exactly the way that you wanted to
00:28when you let up two goals late.
00:31You're like, uh-oh, uh-oh.
00:33Could this really be like game one?
00:35But I thought the Bruins responded, especially on the road in that building
00:39with Josh Allen banging the drum and chugging beers.
00:42That's exactly what you're looking for from them.
00:44Not the guy I'd want in a playoff game cheering for my team.
00:47No offense, Josh.
00:48He's so mean.
00:49That's the thing about Josh Allen is everybody clowns on him.
00:52Like, oh, great, Josh Allen.
00:54What a winner.
00:55Super champ.
00:56And then they were like, really nice guy, though.
00:57Sorry.
00:58He does seem like a good guy.
01:01But that was a great – I mean, I didn't get to see it
01:04because I was obviously watching the Celtics game.
01:06I got home late and turned it on.
01:07I think they had just gone up 4-0, and then Buffalo made their run late.
01:12But that was the game that we talked about.
01:14I felt like that was a critical, critical game for you to win.
01:18So for them to go up there and do that and play the game,
01:23it seemed like the first couple of goals they said were kind of lucky goals.
01:26Well, the second one was probably the luckiest goal in NHL playoff history.
01:33But that Buffalo goaltender who was gone by the second period was not on his best game last night.
01:43I forget what the Twitter account was, but they put the side-by-side of the Morgan Geeky,
01:48didn't shoot on the open net in game one, and then the goal he scored from backhanding it in from
01:53center ice in game two.
01:55And you're like, try and guess which one he scored on.
01:57Yeah, I mean, Razor did a full breakdown between periods on Lucanen and on his blocker, Curtis,
02:05and how he was utilizing the blocker very close to the ice, which was opening the five-hole up.
02:14Like it's almost never been opened before, Curtis.
02:17Right.
02:17I thought the lime green was what Raycroft used to open the five-hole.
02:23So, I mean, that's somebody on this show.
02:27I can't with Shine maybe or a caller yesterday said that whoever wins that goal, wins that game last night,
02:34they think is the winner of the series.
02:36So, maybe that bodes well for the Bruins.
02:38You talked about that Boston Bruins team.
02:40Let's hear from Coach Marco Sturm after the win last night.
02:43Yeah, we will.
02:44And what I can say is that was Bruins hockey right away.
02:48Right from the start, guys were playing with emotion, but under control.
02:53Great goaltending, great special teams, and five-on-five.
02:57We just played hard to play against, and we played tough.
03:00So, that's us all season long.
03:03I mean, finally, he got awarded.
03:06Yeah.
03:06Good win because you know what this win now does?
03:09They've been so great at home.
03:11Yes.
03:11They've taken the confidence away from Buffalo because in the first game, Buffalo had to really fight to come back
03:18in that one.
03:19And so, they must be looking at it like, damn, we had a chance to completely put the Bruins out,
03:24and we missed out.
03:25120 minutes of hockey, if my math is correct.
03:28How many have the Sabres led in the first two games?
03:32Hmm.
03:33The first two games?
03:34How many minutes?
03:35Have the Sabres held a lead?
03:36I believe it's less than four.
03:38Correct.
03:39I was going to say three minutes?
03:39Pretty good.
03:40Yeah, pretty good.
03:41Also, the Sabres' power play is apparently, like, extremely dreadful.
03:47They're 0 for 31 right now.
03:49Well, I think that's why the Bruins, too, after the whistle, have been so aggressive, like in the scrums.
03:55Because they're like, oh, yeah, toss us in the box.
03:56It's fine.
03:57Five before they get score anyways.
03:58So, it's like, yeah, we'll rough them up, and then if they get a power play, oh, so be it.
04:02Well, they killed that one off in the second, and Hustedinov didn't even have a stick.
04:06So, the Bruins, the Zaka line, which was not so great on Sunday night, great last night, that goal, that
04:17pass from David Postnerak last night was beautiful, Shyam.
04:22There's certain things you never know you're going to miss until they're gone, but Courtney doing an update about an
04:26NHL team was something I really missed.
04:28Because Hustedinov would have been a doozy.
04:31That's tricky, man.
04:32Nothing like hockey names.
04:34Oh, man.
04:35Crazy.
04:37Zmarat Huznodernov.
04:38How do we have a drop of that name?
04:40Well done.
04:42One more time.
04:44Please, I don't ask for much.
04:46Just some fire hydrants.
04:48Zmarat Huznodernov.
04:50Who's Nodernov?
04:51You can hear she's saying it with a smile, because she knows she's walking right into that trap.
04:55Well, and the funniest part about that drop, too, is she had said it correct two other times before that.
05:02Zmarat Huznodernov.
05:04Let's see.
05:06I think there's a 978 texter, I don't know, referring to you or me, saying thank you, Captain Obvious, telling
05:12us how important the Bruins win was.
05:14Well, that's kind of what we do here.
05:16Oh, God, please stop.
05:18Like, you only talk about the Bruins when they lose.
05:20You only talk about the Celtics when they lose.
05:22And then you say, this is a really important win.
05:25Oh, thanks.
05:25That's obvious.
