00:00Shark riding, hot lava goo, and the number one complaint I get from people watching my videos.
00:06Your voice makes me want to kill myself.
00:08Fellow patriots, we have the fifth and final season of The Boys,
00:12and judging how these first two episodes went, we are in for an insane season
00:16that isn't afraid to kill off its main characters.
00:20This video is a detailed breakdown of the first two episodes,
00:23with theories delving into the whereabouts of the Gen V crew,
00:26what will happen with the soup-killing virus, and Soldier Boy's apparent resurrection.
00:32Note there will be no spoilers beyond episode 502,
00:35and I'll save the trailer sleuthing section till the end of the video
00:38for those of you who don't want to see what's coming up this season.
00:42And a quick thank you to the Deep Sigma Solarium for sponsoring this video.
00:46I've been using it for months, and my ass has never felt better.
00:49The first thing we hear this season is the sound of a boiling kettle.
00:54Way back in season 3, it was a boiling kettle that hissed in the background
00:58as William Butcher watched Homelander's involvement in the downing of Flight 37.
01:03By including this subtle sound cue, it foreshadows Starlight's plan to reveal this tragedy
01:09by broadcasting the video during Vought's annual shareholder meeting.
01:13Starlight is a wanted woman, deemed an enemy of the state
01:16after Homelander executed a coup of the United States government,
01:20framing President-elect Robert Singer for the murder of Vice President-elect Victoria Newman.
01:26This led Homelander's puppet, Speaker of the House Stephen Calhoun,
01:30to be sworn in as president, paving the way for martial law
01:33and the deputization of superheroes as a national police force.
01:37We saw Starlight on the run briefly in Season 2 of Gen V,
01:41where she tasked Marie Moreau with investigating Project Odessa,
01:45a top-secret program she thinks may hold the key to level the playing field against Homelander.
01:51The Boys Season 5 takes place roughly six months after the events of Gen V Season 2.
01:57There's only one mention of Marie Moreau in these first two episodes.
02:02Starlight tells us that she ran a raid in Pittsburgh.
02:05It just so happens Butcher's new hideout is in Erie County, Pennsylvania,
02:09about a two-hour drive north of where Marie was last sighted,
02:12so you can bet she'll be an important element in taking down Homelander,
02:17especially given her blood powers and how this season heavily deals with a virus that attacks the blood.
02:23With the help of Gavin, a stage manager slash Starlight sympathizer,
02:27one who's later killed by Homelander,
02:29Starlight and her crew are able to infiltrate the event and upload this footage.
02:33The downing of Flight 37 was an event way back in Season 1,
02:37where Homelander accidentally used his laser to kill a hijacker in the cockpit,
02:42slicing through the flight controls.
02:44He then let the doomed airline crash into the ocean, killing everyone on board.
02:49It was this event that fueled Gen V's Dean Shetty to create the soup-killing virus in the first place.
02:55Watching Starlight break in is Black Noir, and something is definitely up with him.
03:01Remember, this isn't the original Black Noir.
03:03The original died in the finale of Season 3 when Homelander discovered Noir knew that Soldier Boy was his father
03:10and never told him.
03:11This new Black Noir is a theater student playing the part,
03:15and in Season 4 of The Boys and in Season 2 of Gen V, you couldn't get this guy to
03:19shut up.
03:20The last we saw him, he couldn't stop talking to Polarity about all the plot holes in his movies.
03:25Why, now of a sudden, is he so silent?
03:27Has he really gone method to dig deep into the character that is Black Noir,
03:32or has he been swapped out with someone new entirely?
03:35In Episode 502, The Deep makes an interesting observation,
03:39that Noir disappears somewhere every afternoon.
03:43Where is he going?
03:44Is he secretly working with Starlight? Polarity?
03:47This is something I'm going to keep an eye on in the episodes to come.
03:51General Mayhem is announced as the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs,
03:55while G-Men Days Past from the Future is a nice riff on X-Men Days of Future's Past.
04:00Now, when this damning video is leaked, we'll see Homelander's eyes light up,
04:05almost as if he's ready to obliterate everyone in the audience.
04:09This wouldn't be the first time he's imagined such things,
04:12which highlights just how unhinged he is.
04:14Luckily, Sister Sage is there to reel him back.
04:17It was Sister Sage who successfully framed President-elect Robert Singer,
04:22allowing Homelander to ascend to power at the end of Season 4.
04:25In the finale, she told him to buckle up for Phase 2.
04:29But we don't really know what this entails.
04:32Sister Sage has always held her cards close to her chest,
04:35and we're never really sure where her loyalties lie.
04:38In fact, new Vice President Ashley Barrett,
04:41who we last saw take Compound V in an effort to save her life,
04:44can't read her mind with her new powers.
04:47We'll get to that in a bit.
04:49In Gen V Season 2, Sister Sage had a secret affair with God U's founder, Thomas Godolkin,
04:55a secret which, if Homelander found out, could warrant her death.
05:00Homelander has a history of murdering those who keep secrets from him,
05:04but we find out Homelander doesn't seem too phased by this,
05:08even asking her how she's doing after Godolkin dumped her.
05:11Sister Sage begins a disinformation campaign,
05:14claiming the Flight 37 video is an elaborate AI deepfake.
05:18I love these videos because you can often find some hilarious comments like,
05:22Where was Starlight, the night of Epstein's suicide?
05:25Or, Starlighters eat babies.
05:27We also get a brief introduction to two Supes from Teenage Kicks.
05:32This is Jetstreak and Sheeline.
05:34Jetstreak was actually one of Ashley's potential The Seven Replacements back in Season 4.
05:39Teenage Kicks has a long history in the boys,
05:42particularly its past members who have gone on to appear throughout all five seasons.
05:46In Episode 502, Mother's Milk will pass this Teenage Kicks Hall of Fame,
05:51where we see notable members past and present,
05:54like Sister Sage, Mesmer, Popclaw, Translucent, and A-Train.
05:59Going along with the AI deepfake narrative is now Vice President of the United States,
06:04Ashley Barrett.
06:05Talk about a woman who's worked her way up in the world
06:08when we first saw her as Director of Talent Relations in Season 1.
06:11Of course, she's merely a puppet in Homelander and Sister Sage's grand scheme.
06:17While we don't know what Sister Sage's true motives entail,
06:20she did give Polarity a cryptic message at the end of Gen V.
06:24She told him he wouldn't die that day, but hinted at a dark, apocalyptic future.
06:30Now, Ashley's new power is really interesting.
06:33It's mind-reading.
06:34However, it seems it comes with some massive drawbacks.
06:38This was my interpretation, so do let me know if you think I've got something wrong.
06:42Ashley herself can't read minds,
06:45rather the second face that's morphed into the back of her head.
06:49This face then relays this information to Ashley proper,
06:53so we the viewer never hear what's in someone else's mind,
06:56only what is filtered through this second face.
06:59This has some serious implications,
07:01because it could mean this second face could lie about what it read,
07:05or look for ways to take over Ashley's body completely.
07:09One thing we do know is not everyone is susceptible to Ashley's power.
07:14Sister Sage's mind, for example, is too powerful for it to penetrate.
07:18It's also out in the open that she is super abled.
07:21She even tells real-life news anchor Chris Hayes she knows what he's thinking, literally.
07:25Meanwhile, Homelander is furious that Starlight was able to infiltrate Vaught and release this video.
07:32This scene really pinpoints Homelander's motivation this season.
07:36He wants the people to be devoted to him,
07:39similar to how Julius Caesar was loved by the Plebeians.
07:42But he forgets Caesar was stabbed in the back by those closest to him.
07:47Black Noir, Eight Train, and Queen Maeve are but a few of those close to Homelander
07:51who have already betrayed him.
07:53Could this scene foreshadow that Sister Sage is next?
07:57She warns him that power will not buy Homelander happiness.
08:01But even with that being said,
08:02Homelander says he won't be happy until Huey, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie are executed.
08:08So he devises a plan to have them executed to draw out Starlight and Butcher.
08:13We also get a little insight on Ryan, Homelander's biological soup son.
08:18The Vaught story is that he's at a boarding school in Svalbard, Norway.
08:22But in reality, he's gone rogue after killing Grace Mallory at the end of Season 4.
08:27Grace was going to imprison Ryan and train him as a weapon specifically to kill his father.
08:33As of the end of the first two episodes, we do not know where he is.
08:37We now get our first look at the Vaught Freedom Camps.
08:40Think of them like if McDonald's ran Auschwitz.
08:43In fact, the slogan, Freedom Sets You Free, is a take on words emblazoned on the entrance to Auschwitz.
08:50Work sets you free.
08:51Prisoners are forced to wear Homelander merch, eat Vaught-a-burger,
08:55and the bunks have ads for Vaught coin and Turbo Rush.
08:58This is Freedom Camp 47.
09:01Donald Trump also happens to be the 47th president.
09:05At the end of Season 4, Huey, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie were all captured by Vaught
09:09and have ended up at this Vernon Corrections-run facility, which was owned by Tech Night in Season 4.
09:15Information is smuggled into the camp, informing the crew of Annie's exploits.
09:20We'll even see two familiar faces as guards here, Love Sausage and Cindy,
09:25both of whom were prisoners at Vaught's Sage Grove Center.
09:29So it's kind of ironic that they're now both guards.
09:32Back in jolly good England, Billy Butcher has come to pay his ass-cancer-ridden father.
09:36The last time we saw Billy, he killed Vice President-elect Victoria Newman
09:41and drove off into the distance with the soup-killing virus.
09:44It seems like they're setting up Butcher's character as this irredeemable lone wolf.
09:49After his abuse of Temp-V and subsequent dose of permanent Compound-V,
09:54Butcher's cancerous tumors have created a sort of sentient parasitic entity.
09:59This manifested in his mind as his old war buddy Joe Kessler,
10:03who we surprisingly haven't seen.
10:05Physically, it manifested as these large, black, insanely strong tentacles.
10:10It's highly implied that Butcher kills his own father here
10:13for the years of abuse he and his brother Lenny endured at his hands.
10:17With the cancer taking over his body,
10:19it's hard to tell how much of this is Butcher and how much is the cancer.
10:24I do think there's still a little bit of humanity left in Butcher,
10:28as we'll see that he still cares for his dog, Terror.
10:31While preparing for Firecracker's show, Homelander detects everyone around him is nervous.
10:36He even sees Firecracker's heart is messed up as a result of her taking metoclopramide,
10:42a drug which allowed her to lactate, but has the side effects of giving you an enlarged heart.
10:47She's stopped taking this medication and thus can't lactate to satiate Homelander's milk fetish.
10:54Firecracker has thus lost all her leverage when it comes to Homelander.
10:58She's of no use to him, so my guess is that Firecracker will try to get pregnant
11:03in order to get those milkers up and running.
11:05With the Flight 37 footage dismissed as AI,
11:09so too was Thomas Godolkin's I'm Back speech from Gen V Season 2.
11:13In fact, his whole massacre at the end of the season,
11:16where countless Godolkin students were slaughtered,
11:19was framed as a murderous starlight rampage.
11:22Meanwhile, in the Philippines, Butcher has come to recruit Kimiko to break out Huey, M.M., and Frenchie.
11:28Kimiko is deported to the Philippines after ripping off the faces of too many Vought Guards.
11:33Kimiko and Frenchie have developed a relationship over the last few seasons
11:37and were even running off together at the end of Season 4.
11:40I like this prominent South Pacific musical poster in the background.
11:44Kimiko and Frenchie did an entire musical number in Season 3,
11:48and the musical itself draws many parallels to these two characters,
11:52the most obvious of which the main character being a French expatriate hiding from a murky past.
11:58Back at the camp, Huey highlights the importance of holding on to hope
12:02with fellow Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs analyst Ivy.
12:06It seems the former agency, once helmed by Victoria Newman,
12:09has been dissolved and its employees shuffled off to these camps for re-education.
12:14I love how The Deep has started his own men's rights podcast,
12:18and who better to start a podcast with than someone who can't talk?
12:21Although Black Noir does have his own soundboard.
12:24The posters in the back are fun spoofs on feminist art, like the We Can Do It poster.
12:29Butcher reunites Starlight and Kimiko, and Starlight is surprised to see Kimiko can now speak.
12:35Yes, it's taken five seasons, but it's finally happened,
12:38and she's arguably one of the most foul-mouthed characters in the cast.
12:41The plan to rescue their friends isn't as altruistic as Butcher makes it sound.
12:47He really needs Frenchie to work on that soup-killing virus.
12:51Frenchie has that knowledge of high-level chemistry,
12:54improvisational engineering, and dirty biological knowledge to weaponize such a virus.
12:59That's why when they plan this rescue, he informs Starlight to get Frenchie out first.
13:04He wants Starlight to choose Frenchie over her own boyfriend.
13:08This is a decision that will come back to bite Starlight later on.
13:12Starlight informs them she knows which camp they're located at,
13:16but why then hasn't she attempted to rescue them?
13:18Starlight never gives a good answer here,
13:21but deep down it's because she's afraid Huey will reject her
13:24once he finds out what kind of person she's become since his capture.
13:28Starlight has had to do some terrible things in the name of resistance,
13:32and is responsible for countless deaths.
13:34Every time Huey tries to talk about what's eating away at her, she pivots to sex.
13:39She doesn't want to confront the pain of her actions and risk losing Huey for good.
13:44Homelander is at his wit's end when it comes to Black Noir and the Deep.
13:48The two of them have been tasked with finding A-Train, Butcher, and Starlight,
13:51but have turned up nothing.
13:53Homelander even says it's like they're f***ing up on purpose.
13:57This really puts a fire under the Deep,
13:59who later takes his trusty hammerhead shark Xander all the way to France.
14:03This is where A-Train's family has been hiding,
14:06specifically his brother Nathan.
14:08Nathan and A-Train have had a tumultuous relationship.
14:11Nathan sees A-Train as nothing but a fake superhero,
14:14and it was A-Train who was indirectly involved in his brother's paralysis
14:18when a PR-friendly community meeting backfired with racist soup Blue Hawk.
14:22A-Train's shift from Vought Lackey to Resistance Fighter has changed Nathan's opinion of him.
14:27A-Train has put his life in danger to save the ones he cares about most.
14:31I think it's actually this pep talk with his brother that ultimately persuades A-Train
14:36to later join Butcher and the rescue of the freedom camp.
14:39At the National Prayer Breakfast, we see Ashley is married to a man named O'Father,
14:44head pastor of Samaritan's Embrace Ministries.
14:47Samaritan's Embrace was the same ministry formerly run by Ezekiel,
14:50who met his untimely demise in Season 4.
14:53O'Father represents the Christian nationalist element of Homelander's base,
14:57and he believes one day America will be a fully Christian nation.
15:01It was Sister Sage who orchestrated this marriage for Ashley,
15:05as she said the American people wouldn't accept a single cat lady as their VP.
15:10Sister Sage wants Ashley to round up anyone who's expressed defamatory statements
15:15against Homelander or pro-Starlighter propaganda.
15:18At least they got Chapel Roan.
15:20Ashley is also registered Barrett for President,
15:23so we see she has aspirations of one day becoming Commander-in-Chief,
15:27a position we know is merely a puppet for Homelander.
15:30We'll later see Homelander tell the President to make him a Manhattan.
15:34Sister Sage tells Ashley as long as she stays useful, everything will go her way.
15:39Butcher has come to visit a man known as The Worm,
15:42an apt name considering his tunnel-digging abilities they'll use to sneak into the Freedom Camp.
15:47He's a screenwriter and will see script files for other Prime Video titles on his desktop,
15:52like Reacher, Wheel of Time, and even an X-rated version of Rings of Power.
15:57The Worm has also written for shows like Crimson Countess Capers,
16:00Pomp Claw Slippery Slopes, and most likely Mesmer's Mystery Mansion 3.
16:04He's fallen on hard times as Vought Studios has replaced all their writers with AI.
16:09Huey, Frenchy, and M.M. have their own escape plan,
16:12but when Huey goes back to his bunk, Homelander is there.
16:16Remember that this is all a trap to lure, butcher, A-Train, and Starlight.
16:21Homelander inquires how a soup-like Starlight could be hopelessly devoted to a mediocre man like Huey.
16:27Why would these people risk their lives to save him?
16:31As Huey states, because I'd do it for them.
16:34What Homelander is really getting at here is,
16:36how do I get that level of devotion?
16:39He was never loved as a child, so there's this hole in his heart he wants to fill with the
16:43need for being wanted.
16:45This theme of devotion is echoed when Homelander and Butcher come face to face,
16:49and Homelander senses the viper's nest of cancer within him.
16:53Butcher was willing to do all of this just to go toe-to-toe with Homelander.
16:57Now that's real devotion.
16:59The Worm digs right under the entrance to Huey's bunk,
17:02where Butcher and Kimiko run right into Homelander's trap.
17:06Kimiko is lasered in half after telling Homelander to suck her fat dick.
17:10But remember, Kimiko has regenerative powers.
17:13It's Starlight's entrance, however, that unleashes complete pandemonium on the camp.
17:18M.M. takes on Love Sausage,
17:19the culmination of four seasons of history these two have,
17:22with M.M. eventually killing the soup with his own dick.
17:26Cindy narrowly escapes after being pinned by Butcher,
17:29and when it looks as though Huey is about to be lasered,
17:31it's A-Train who comes to save the day.
17:33He saves Huey in the nick of time as Homelander chases after him.
17:38Homelander is just as fast, if not faster, than A-Train.
17:41And it's in these final moments we can really see a difference in A-Train's character from Season 1.
17:47In Season 1, A-Train didn't give a shit about running into innocent bystanders
17:51and reducing them to a pile of goo.
17:54This is how Huey's girlfriend died.
17:56But here, A-Train swerves out of the way to avoid an innocent woman,
18:00a decision which sees him trip and captured by Homelander.
18:03In his final speech, A-Train calls Homelander a pathetic, weak, sniveling loser.
18:08But it's his line about what Homelander becomes if his powers are taken away,
18:12which I found the most interesting.
18:15Will Homelander's fate this season be losing his power?
18:18Maybe that's the only way he'll see that he's really nothing,
18:22and that's a fate worse than death.
18:24It would be the most ironic of endings if Homelander becomes the very thing he wants to wipe out.
18:30So this could potentially be foreshadowing that.
18:33At first, I thought there might be the possibility A-Train survives.
18:37After all, Marie Moreau resurrected her sister Annabeth.
18:40But as we venture into Episode 2, it's pretty clear A-Train is gone.
18:44His death attributed to Starlight.
18:47Overseeing the funeral is O'Father,
18:49and in attendance is the President himself, Stephen Calhoun.
18:53O'Father has this power to strengthen his voice,
18:56and I love how Ashley holds on to her wig as to not expose her freakish second face.
19:00O'Father recites Matthew 1034,
19:03I do not come to bring the peace, but a sword.
19:06Perhaps this echoes Homelander, who will later see bathed in this religious white light.
19:11He is not here to be blessed, but to do war.
19:14He gets caught up in the sound of a woman's voice saying,
19:17My Sweet Boy.
19:18My best guess is this is the voice of Madeline Stilwell,
19:22Vought's former Senior Vice President of Hero Management,
19:24who took on this mother-like figure for Homelander in his later years.
19:28It could also be Homelander's biological mother.
19:31According to Barbara Finlay, one of the lab directors who raised Homelander in his youth,
19:36Homelander's mother was a runaway hooker.
19:38But to me, this doesn't add up.
19:40Why would Vought go through all the trouble of creating a super soldier with Soldier Boy's sperm
19:45just to have it mix with a lowly human?
19:48Why not mix it with a powerful female soup?
19:51Since season two, I've long suspected his mother could be Stormfront.
19:55It works with the timeline, and we know Soldier Boy and Stormfront used to hook up at Herogasm.
20:00In Pennsylvania, Butcher takes the gang to his new hideout in an abandoned public school.
20:05There, he reintroduces us to Dr. Samir Shah,
20:08former right-hand man of Stan Edgar and secret romantic partner of Victoria Newman.
20:13He helped develop the soup-killing virus.
20:16The last we saw him, he injected a sample of this virus into Kimiko's leg,
20:20which had to be amputated.
20:22Butchers convinced Dr. Shah to helping him perfect this virus
20:25so it's strong enough to kill Homelander.
20:28He told them that it was Homelander who murdered his daughter and Victoria.
20:32We know this is a lie.
20:34It was Butcher who murdered Victoria,
20:36and Zoe is currently in hiding with her grandfather Stan Edgar.
20:40But the gang is willing to put up with this lie
20:42if it means getting Samir's help in taking down Homelander.
20:46According to Samir, he's created a virus strong enough to do just that.
20:50But like all good scientific experiments, they'll need to test it out.
20:54So they hone in on the perfect test subject,
20:56a soup from Teenage Kicks called Rock Hard.
20:59He's almost as strong as Homelander, and no one really cares about him,
21:03making for a good choice.
21:04The only problem is, no one's seen him in over a year.
21:08On MM's tablet, we'll see the news about A-Train.
21:11But if you look below, you'll see that a Mr. Marathon accepts a court order
21:14to stay at Global Wellness Malibu.
21:17I'll talk a bit more about what this means in my trailer sleuthing section.
21:20The Freedom to be Free Act has passed,
21:22allowing local soups to apprehend Starlighters before they've committed a crime.
21:27We'll see Jetstreak and Sheeline carry this out,
21:29separating mother and child,
21:31all the while making awesome TikToks.
21:34Huey is already thinking ahead,
21:36and wondering how they're going to get this virus away from Butcher.
21:39The virus threatens to kill all soups on Earth,
21:42and there's even a chance it'll kill all humans too.
21:45Huey wants to take the virus and run,
21:47Kimiko wants to kill Butcher,
21:49and Starlight says,
21:50hey, killing 10,000 soups to save 8 billion is a pretty good trade.
21:54She really believes she deserves to die for what she's done.
21:58You might have missed it,
21:59but when Starlight gives them new clothes,
22:01she says they're from people who don't need them anymore.
22:03I think they're from Starlighters who have died in the Resistance.
22:07Reunited, Kimiko doesn't like how they're part of this plan.
22:10She says when she got that virus,
22:12it was the only time she wanted to die.
22:15It was that painful.
22:16But the very reason Frenchie remains a part of this operation
22:19is to learn more about it.
22:21He vows he'll never let anyone take her away again,
22:24and she's like,
22:24My vagina is tingling and damp.
22:26Meanwhile, Homelander laments the death of A-Train.
22:28He's so narcissistic that he's found a way to
22:31mentally absolve himself of this murder.
22:34It wasn't his fault he killed A-Train.
22:36A-Train left him no choice what with his betrayal.
22:39So he turns to the only other person who might understand his loneliness.
22:43His father, Soldier Boy, whose cryo chamber he's had brought up to his apartment.
22:47The last we saw Soldier Boy in The Boys was the end of Season 4,
22:51where it was revealed he was being stored after his defeat in the Season 3 finale.
22:56As Jetstream and Sheeline hawk Morvot products like firecrackers, flaming, freedom sticks,
23:01we meet another member of Teenage Kicks named Countess Crow.
23:05She can control crows,
23:07which seems to be her only power besides collecting massive amounts of antidepressants.
23:11Also bad props to whoever named them Russell Crow and Cameron Crow.
23:15Countess Crow is forced to make endless makeup tutorials,
23:18and it's her situation that ultimately convinces MM to set her free at the end of the episode.
23:23He also has a daughter who's missing her father,
23:26so he empathizes with her and understand how she's merely being used by Vought.
23:31The plan is to infiltrate the Teenage Kicks influencer house while they're on patrol
23:35to look for signs of Rock Hard.
23:38Huey disarms the cameras, and when the coast is clear,
23:40they enter the building and find Rock Hard has really let himself go.
23:45He's essentially ballooned to 30,000 pounds,
23:47which seems to be the result of his lava goo cooling down and building upon itself.
23:52His heart rate has also slowed to a glacial pace,
23:55allowing him to hold on to one breath of air for hours,
23:58and since the virus is airborne, he could wait them out until help arrives.
24:03Meanwhile, Homelander has unfrozen Soldier Boy and has tasked him with hunting down Butcher,
24:08the man who betrayed him after Soldier Boy wanted to kill Ryan in Season 3.
24:12Thanks to Vought's disinformation apparatus,
24:15the world thinks Soldier Boy is a Russian spy,
24:17but with Homelander's help, he can change that,
24:20even giving him the number two spot in the seven.
24:22If he finds Butcher, all will be forgiven.
24:25At Vought Tower, Sister Sage briefs the president and vice president
24:29on over 10,000 Starlighter locations around the U.S.,
24:33data that has been largely collected from Voughtbook's social media algorithm.
24:38To contain these folks, Sage says they'll need to triple the amount of freedom camps,
24:42and this costs money, money that Treasury is sorely lacking.
24:46Through Ashley's power, she knows the president thinks this is insane,
24:50but there's nothing he can do.
24:52What Homelander says goes.
24:54In fact, President Calhoun knows this is so insane,
24:57he asks if he can be given immunity.
24:59Speaking of immunity, a full pardon is what Homelander asked Calhoun to give Soldier Boy,
25:04who has officially been welcomed back to the seven.
25:06What Homelander hasn't done is tell Soldier Boy
25:09he's sending him directly into a man that has a virus
25:12that could potentially kill him in all soups.
25:15And Sage wants to know if Homelander can handle being responsible for his death,
25:20knowing how unhinged he can get.
25:22But Homelander reiterates it was a purely tactical move,
25:25and that he didn't bring his dad back for personal reasons.
25:28On their way back to the Kix crib with the perfected virus,
25:32Soldier Boy surprises Butcher, Kimiko, and Huey
25:34with his shield through their windshield.
25:36Huey and Kimiko run while Butcher tells Soldier Boy the truth,
25:40that Homelander sent him here as a sort of sacrificial lamb,
25:43knowing Butcher's in possession of that soup-killing virus.
25:46Jetstream and She-Line go after Huey and Kimiko,
25:49with Starlight having to save Huey after Jetstream drops him from up in the air.
25:53The plan is to lead them into Teenage Kix,
25:56where they've quarantined the basement to test out the virus.
25:59And everything goes according to plan.
26:01Soldier Boy, Rockheart, and Jetstream are lured in when the virus is let loose,
26:05killing the three in a matter of seconds.
26:08Or at least that's what we think.
26:10Meanwhile, Ashley has a crisis of faith with her other half.
26:13She's in too deep.
26:15But her other half wants her to rally the silent majority in Washington
26:18that thinks Homelander is batshit insane.
26:21Will Ashley have the balls to finally stand up to the man
26:25who has made her life a living hell?
26:27In the aftermath of the virus, Dr. Shaw confirms that humans are immune,
26:31and that none of them are carriers.
26:34With Frenchie seeing just how destructive this thing is,
26:37he asks Kimiko to run away with him.
26:39There's no stopping it.
26:40They should get as far away as they can.
26:42Kimiko uses Frenchie's own advice against him, saying,
26:46every day they just have to get up and keep going.
26:48And maybe this is the way they can finally atone for what they've done in the past.
26:53Huey confronts Starlight and basically tells her
26:55if she doesn't want to talk about her feelings, that's fine.
26:57But he's not going to stop fighting, and he'll fight for the both of them if she won't.
27:02Finally, we have the biggest WTF twist in the entire two episodes.
27:06After telling the Deep it should have been him who died,
27:09Homelander walks away from his father's corpse,
27:12and we see Soldier Boy rise from the dead.
27:14I think I know exactly what's going on here,
27:17but in order to answer this, we must venture into our trailer sleuthing section
27:21where we go over the season's trailers to see what might be in store.
27:24As witness in the trailers, Soldier Boy is alive,
27:27and no, he's not some sort of zombie or seriously disfigured as a result of the virus.
27:32In fact, in the final trailer, we learn of something called V1,
27:36Vought's first iteration of Compound V,
27:38an extremely volatile but effective serum that Dr. Shaw says could make Homelander immortal.
27:44Soldier Boy would have been injected with this compound,
27:47which explains two things,
27:48how he survived the virus,
27:50and why Homelander in the trailers is searching for V1.
27:53Homelander is searching for a countermeasure for the virus.
27:57We'll see Homelander and Soldier Boy outside the abandoned Fort Harmony Medical Department,
28:02where the first trials of V1 may have been conducted by Frederick Vought himself.
28:07They'll also enlist the help of Mr. Marathon,
28:09a speedster soup and former member of the Seven,
28:12who was replaced by A-Train.
28:14We learned in episode two that he has a court order
28:16to stay at the Global Wellness Center in Malibu.
28:18And here we have the return of Zoe Newman,
28:21who we last saw in Gen V Season 2 with her grandpa Stan Edgar.
28:25Remember that Stan Edgar wanted to recruit Marie Moreau as a countermeasure to Homelander,
28:30which he considers bad product,
28:32and it looks like the gang will be teaming up with him.
28:34In this shot, Butcher is notably absent from their meeting with Stan,
28:38and it looks like MM could be holding a bag that might contain vials of the virus.
28:43The gang might be dealing with Stan behind Butcher's back.
28:46Marie and Jordan are seen briefly in the trailer
28:48with Starlight telling them they need to run while they can.
28:51Ryan will also be appearing this season,
28:54and I gotta say, it's not looking good for him.
28:56Almost every shot with him, he looks mad with these glowing red eyes.
29:00There's also a great video by YouTuber Jonathan
29:02who goes over who Homelander might be punching here,
29:05and I agree with his assessment that one of the most likely candidates is Ryan.
29:10I mean, Homelander hesitates on who he's beating up here
29:13when normally he doesn't even blink an eye on killing someone.
29:16This also seems to take place at a Planet Vaught,
29:19which was one of Homelander's favorite places to bring Ryan as a child.
29:22The last we saw Homelander and Ryan interact was in Season 4
29:26when Homelander confronted Ryan about the photo of him, Butcher, and his mom,
29:30essentially telling Ryan to acknowledge him as his only true father.
29:35So this season has started with an absolute bang,
29:37but now I turn it over to you.
29:39What did you think of the first two episodes?
