00:04The only recap you need before The Boys Season 5.
00:08Everyone knows that The Boys has never been about superheroes saving the world.
00:12That's the furthest from the truth.
00:14To put it bluntly, The Boys shows us what would happen to superheroes if they existed
00:18in a capitalist society like our society right now.
00:22And let me tell you, there's a reason why this show is so popular.
00:25Over the past four seasons of The Boys and two seasons of Gen V, the story has stripped
00:30away every single safety net that usual superhero shows have and show us the actual truth.
00:36The show has satire, but it comes with a bite that will definitely leave you wondering and
00:41a little scared.
00:42Season 5 is coming soon, and this is the one where we finally get answers.
00:48All the payback that's been building up looks like it's finally going to happen.
00:51I honestly can't wait to see that smug smirk disappear from Holmlander's face.
00:57So join me as I go through all the seasons so that you're ready for the final showdown
01:03when it happens.
01:09Season 1 of The Boys.
01:12The first season puts us in a world that seems completely idyllic, with superheroes being
01:17in charge of protecting us.
01:19But that glossy superhero fantasy starts getting peeled soon enough.
01:23Who would have thought the superheroes, if they existed, would be like celebrities who
01:27are managed like a luxury brand?
01:29The most powerful company on earth, Vought International, is literally like an entertainment
01:34company that has all the superheroes like they're K-pop stars.
01:38The joke is that if the superheroes were real, capitalism would get there first.
01:43And the show lays it on thick for us.
01:45The story of The Boys starts with Huey Campbell.
01:48He's a soft-spoken dude who works at an electronics store as a clerk, has a loving girlfriend, and
01:53life is good.
01:54But then, his life quite literally gets destroyed because his girlfriend Robin is exploded into
02:00bits when A-Train, one of the fastest superheroes in the world, runs straight through her.
02:05Vought immediately tries to manage the crisis.
02:07They give Huey a settlement and a non-disclosure agreement, hoping that he'll accept it and
02:12forget about his girlfriend.
02:13See, Huey probably might have accepted the deal if they didn't treat her death like a PR inconvenience.
02:19Understandably, the fire of rage and revenge is alive in him, and he starts crashing out.
02:25But he's powerless.
02:26What can an electronics store clerk do when faced against, like, the biggest corporation in the world?
02:31Well, about that.
02:33Things take a sharp turn when he meets Billy Butcher.
02:36Butcher is this potty-mouthed, manipulative vigilante who hates superheroes from the bottom
02:42of his heart.
02:42So, when he finds Huey, who equally hates superheroes, Butcher insists he join his group.
02:48And this group isn't like a little club going,
02:50We hate soups!
02:51No, no.
02:52This group is all about exposing and destroying the soups.
02:56This group is what we eventually get to know as The Boys.
02:59This group works entirely outside the law, and every single member is driven by their
03:05own grudge against soups.
03:07Now, let's talk about the soups.
03:09Kinda like Justice League or The Avengers, we have The Seven.
03:13This is an elite team that is marketed to have all the Earth's mightiest heroes.
03:18And their leader is Homelander.
03:20He looks dapper AF, basically like the American Wet Dream.
03:24And much like Wet Dreams, he lacks substance and has the emotional development of a neglected
03:29child.
03:30He's cruel, insecure, obsessed with adoration and admiration.
03:34Basically, a narcissist through and through.
03:36And underneath him, we have Queen Maeve, The Deep, A-Train, Black Noir, Translucent, and the
03:42newest edition, Starlight.
03:44Now, Starlight's arc through the first season is the most heartbreaking in my opinion.
03:49She joins The Seven hoping to make a difference, to do things right, and to be someone people can
03:54look up to.
03:54But, the moment she joins, she gets sexually assaulted by The Deep.
03:58But, of course, cannot risk this news getting leaked.
04:02So, they force her to stay silent and treat the sexual assault as just a misunderstanding
04:07among new co-workers.
04:08Everything about this interaction feels so grounded in reality, because I'm sure several audience
04:14members felt this personally.
04:16Where you know what happened to you was wrong, but you can't talk about it, because that would
04:20come around and bite you in the ass.
04:22But, Starlight doesn't just sit here, being all quiet and stuff.
04:26She, instead, started to understand the way the system works, so that she could dismantle it from
04:31within.
04:32Her storyline exposes just how institutional abuse takes place, and how power is maintained.
04:38Not through honesty, but through image management.
04:40The boys plan and prepare to launch their first attack, and they get a big W when they target
04:46Translucent, the voyeuristic predator.
04:48Huey was terrified, and eventually ended up killing Translucent by placing a bomb inside
04:53Translucent's body.
04:54This is a key moment in the show, because with that, Huey crosses a moral line that he
05:00was trying his best not to cross.
05:02He realized that there's no clean way to fight the Supes, and now the only way is to
05:07play just as dirty, if not more.
05:09And, this kill also showcases the morality of the members of the boys.
05:14Because you have Butcher, who treats this moment as just trivial collateral damage,
05:19because he's morally empty.
05:20Soon after, the group expands, and we get Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and the female,
05:26who is later named Kimiko.
05:28Mother's Milk is a tactician, Frenchie is a weapons expert, and Kimiko is a superhuman,
05:32who was created through brutal experimentation.
05:35Each of them had been damaged or affected by the Supes, or the system that empowers the Supes.
05:40And they are down to do anything, as long as it means they can take the Supers down.
05:45And as the season unfolds, we see the introduction of Compound V.
05:49So, officially, Vought insists that superheroes are born.
05:52It's a divine miracle, or a genetic fluke.
05:55But actually, Vought keeps injecting newborns with Compound V, which gives them superpowers.
06:01This is the foundation of the entire superhero industry.
06:04If this secret gets exposed, it would completely ruin the image Vought has created for itself,
06:09and their political ambitions.
06:12Butcher genuinely believes that Compound V probably played a big role in the disappearance of his
06:17wife, Becca, who disappeared eight years ago after a sexual encounter with Homelander,
06:22which was definitely not consensual at all.
06:25In every storyline we're introduced to, Homelander plays a huge role.
06:29He's like a nuclear reactor just ready to go off.
06:32When he doesn't get the love and approval he desires, he's willing to punish the whole
06:36world for him.
06:37The only one who manages to get through to him is Madeline Stilwell, a senior Vought executive.
06:42But the way she gets through to him is completely disturbing.
06:46She basically manipulates him, flatters him by using maternal intimacy against him.
06:51There's no denying that Homelander has godlike powers.
06:54But with how psychologically fragile he is, he is the most terrifying figure in the show.
07:00But he isn't the only one with the problem.
07:01Remember A-Train? He is absolutely addicted to Compound V. He uses that to push his body
07:08past its limits and his recklessness is what triggered the events of the story.
07:12And despite killing Huey's girlfriend, A-Train did nothing to change the way he led his life.
07:17So, understandably, he did more and more reckless crap and eventually caused internal fractures in
07:23the Seven.
07:24Starlight, on the other hand, finally manages to expose the sexual assault she faced at the
07:28hands of the deep. And guess what? He gets banished from the team, immediately showing
07:33just how quickly the system discards people when they become liabilities.
07:37With all of these things happening, the boys decide now is the time to make their move.
07:41They try to leak Compound V to the public, but whatever moves they make get counteracted or ruined
07:47by Vought. Why? Because Vought wants to push superheroes into the military. And to do that,
07:53they're pushing Compound V into anyone and everyone overseas to create threats that only the Supes
07:59can curb. So, obviously right now, if it's exposed that Compound V is what makes the superheroes,
08:05their plans will be foiled. Homelander, like the big baby he is, acts out and suddenly it becomes clear
08:12that maybe supervillains aren't the problem. Having unaccountable power is the problem.
08:18In the meantime, Starlight and Huey's relationship starts to grow.
08:21When she finds that Huey is with the boys, that almost destroys their relationship. But they
08:26manage to stay in touch by working out their issues. Butcher, on the other hand, is proven
08:31to have more layers to him than originally shown. Turns out his beef with the Supes is all about
08:36vengeance. But then the truth comes out. Becca didn't die. She was never dead. Vought just relocated
08:42her in secret when she got pregnant with Homelander's child. And Becca actively chose to stay hidden
08:48because she wanted to keep her son safe from Homelander. This obviously shifts the whole
08:52worldview for Butcher and us. The season builds towards this brutal confrontation because Homelander
08:58discovered that Stillwell was lying to him about Becca and Compound V. He's so heartbroken about it
09:04that he kills Stillwell with his heat vision, and now there's no one who can stop him from crashing out.
09:09Butcher gets cornered and tries to kill himself, but Homelander's like, nah bro,
09:13and brought him to see Becca and her son with powers. The season ends with no victory. But hey,
09:19at least we know what exactly makes this world tick, and what are the main things that our boys have
09:24to
09:24go up against. So, with the core idea finally established, now all we have to wait and watch
09:29for is what the boys would do when the realization dawns on them that to get rid of the Supes,
09:34they
09:34need to do more than just get rid of the Supes. They need to dismantle the entire system in place
09:39around them.
09:40I'll earn your life.
09:45Season 2 of The Boys
09:46The second season of The Boys begins with Billy Butcher learning that his wife,
09:50Becca, is alive and raising a child fathered by Homelander. Hughie, Mother's Milk, Frenchie,
09:56and Kimiko are all fugitives who are framed for Madeline Stillwell's death, because obviously they
10:01aren't going to blame Homelander for it. So, both Vaught and The Law are hunting them. The secret war
10:06there raging against the Supes has spilled out into the world, but no one actually knows just
10:11how deep the rot goes. The boys, with no other choice, have to scatter and survive by improvisation.
10:18Hughie hides in basements and safe houses, while Mother's Milk tries to hold the group together.
10:23Frenchie and Kimiko have to wrestle with their guilt and grief over their violent past,
10:27especially when Kimiko's brother is killed during their group's mission. And where's Butcher in all
10:32this? He has completely abandoned them through and through, leaving the boys to deal with everything.
10:37But things aren't all hunky-dory for the Supes. After killing Stillwell, there's no one to handle
10:42Homelander. So, this is where Vaught introduces Stormfront, this charismatic and meme-savvy superheroine
10:49whose social media fluency immediately catches public attention. From the get-go, Stormfront seems to
10:54be a refreshing contrast against the Vaught Corporation because of the casual way she speaks.
10:59Homelander likes this authenticity and is drawn to her. Starlight, on the other hand,
11:03returns to the Seven, but joins hands with Maeve because Queen Maeve had lost her faith in heroism.
11:09But then, surprise, we find out that Stormfront isn't any random soup. She's a Nazi who was one of
11:16the first recipients of Compound V. Her main ideology is white supremacy, which is wrapped in modern
11:21language, and the portrayal is chilling to the fullest. She manages to influence Homelander completely.
11:27From Homelander's perspective, this is the first time he's met someone who isn't scared of him,
11:32validates his sense of superiority, and encourages him in everything, including his worst impulses.
11:37Their relationship is a feedback loop of hatred, ego, and violence.
11:42Homelander starts to openly defy Vaught because Stormfront told him that he's meant to rule.
11:47So now, Homelander will do anything as long as he's obeyed. With all of these things,
11:52Vaught is in heavy damage control mode. The public and Congress have started
11:56scrutinizing Vaught, and Vaught needs to make changes. Victoria Newman is introduced as this
12:01progressive anti-Vaught congresswoman who wants to hold the company accountable. She's clearly the
12:07one ally that the boys in need, and Huey is immediately drawn to her, hoping that the reform
12:12they seek can be achieved through the institution. And finally, Compound V is exposed to the public,
12:19shattering the myth that Vaught has been pushing so far. Vaught manages to reframe the narrative,
12:24saying that yes, they use Compound V, but they're the only ones who can control it. So the initial
12:29plan that Compound V would destroy Vaught crumbles, because the truth only strengthens it. While all
12:35of this is happening, Butcher finally manages to track down Becca, and this is where he needs Ryan.
12:40Ryan's just a kid with powers that exceed Homelander's. Knowing this, Becca tries her hardest to
12:46protect Ryan from his father, but Butcher says that he'll help them escape. But every time he
12:50sees Ryan, he's reminded of his loss at the hands of Homelander, and can't really accept it. Kimiko
12:56gets her own arc too. She confronts her past as a child soldier, and she tries not to use her
13:01powers.
13:02But eventually, you realize that once you have a power like that, you can't really put it down
13:06and forget about it. Frenchie, who's completely overwhelmed with his own guilt, tries to save Kimiko
13:11as part of his redemption arc. Back at the soup's place, A-Train suffers a heart attack because of
13:16his drug abuse and is sidelined completely. And to become relevant again, he leaks Stormfront's
13:22racist past. The Deep, on the other hand, has become entangled with a pseudo-religious
13:27self-help cult, which is darkly comedic. He seeks absolution without transformation,
13:32and the cult happily provides it as long as he is useful. As the season progresses,
13:36Stormfront's actual nature becomes visible. But her supporters grow louder, and Homelander
13:41falls for her charm. He starts imagining this world where he would rule with Stormfront.
13:46But when Ryan accidentally kills Becca while defending her from Stormfront, that fantasy
13:51completely collapses. Seeing just how dangerous Stormfront is, Queen Maeve, Kimiko, and Starlight
13:57join hands to defeat her. Stormfront is left mutilated with not a sign of remorse anywhere,
14:02and Becca dies in Butcher's arms, asking him to protect Ryan and break the cycle.
14:07But Homelander is not okay at all with this development. Ryan doesn't love him, and he
14:12can't force Ryan to love him. This affects him deeply, and Maeve exploits this to make sure
14:17Homelander leaves Starlight alone, threatening that she'll release the footage of a plane crash
14:22that he allowed to happen. The season finale of Season 2 is just a chef's kiss, because this is
14:28where we get a huge twist. During this Congressional hearing, where Vaught was going to be held
14:32accountable, several officials' heads explode like watermelons. And, surprise, we find out that
14:38Victoria Newman is a soup with the power to make heads explode at will. Huey has no idea. But we,
14:45the public, are immediately taken aback and realize that the enemy is embedded in the heart of the
14:51system. With the season's end, a few things happen. The boys finally reunite, Vaught remains powerful,
14:56and the soups remain dangerous. Butcher finally takes responsibility for Ryan, and the perspective
15:02has changed. This time, the fight continues because surrendering isn't an option. And
15:07surrendering would mean that this is the best the world can be, and that's simply untrue.
15:16Season 3 of The Boys This season starts off with Vaught being under new leadership. We believe that,
15:22finally, people are holding people accountable. And the Seven are no longer like the best heroes ever,
15:28but they aren't branded like monsters either. The mess that happened in the past two seasons
15:32has somehow evened out. But that doesn't mean everything's great. But one thing that's arguably
15:36the best is that The Boys are now legit. Well, technically they are. The government has set up
15:41the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs, the FBSA, to keep the soups in check. Huey is a big fan of
15:47Newman and starts working for FBSA with Butcher and The Boys as their off-the-book hounds.
15:52While everyone from the team is following the rules and seemingly making progress,
15:56Butcher is impatient as ever because he feels like he's surrendering to the government. I don't
16:01blame him for thinking that, because he did spend the last two seasons with complete freedom,
16:05even though he was a fugitive. And in the premiere, Huey finds out that Newman is actually a soup,
16:10and that pushes him back into Butcher's extremist methods. While The Boys are finally no longer in
16:15hiding, Homelander, on the other hand, is completely spiraling. Stan Edgar, who's the CEO of Vought,
16:21understands Homelander better than Homelander understands himself. And as a result, the control
16:26and authority Homelander had over Vought is starting to get shaken up. Homelander is now getting controlled
16:31through humiliation and containment, which an egomaniac like Homelander is not going to sit
16:36back and take. Starlight is now the co-captain of The Seven. And while that has a lot of glitz
16:41and glam to it,
16:42she has more power than before, but she also has lost a lot of her freedom. She can't do anything
16:47meaningful without it being turned into a PR gesture. And Queen Maeve, who's been spiraling
16:51since the last season, has only one straw holding her in place, and that's Starlight. Because in
16:57Maeve's eyes, Starlight is the only person who seems to have some kind of conscience in the room full of
17:02monsters. Maeve knows that her time in The Seven is coming to an end, and she keeps training herself for
17:07her exit, so that hopefully, before she leaves, she can kill off Homelander. But before she can do
17:13that, Homelander has a very public crash out. So after the events of the second season,
17:17the government is much more controlling over the Supes. So to smooth things over,
17:22a public event meant to symbolize cooperation between the Supes and the government took place.
17:27However, Homelander's cruelty shone through, and his approval ratings dipped below the level.
17:32But instead of trying to do damage control, Homelander just doubles down. And when he
17:36doubles down, he notices that no matter what he does, there will always be this one group of people
17:42who will always cheer for him. And that's when the other shoe drops. Homelander finally realizes
17:47he doesn't need a mask. Back at the boys, Butcher's getting pissed off. He wants to do a lot of
17:52things,
17:53but he can't do anything because of the bureaucracy. But that's when he finds out that Temp V,
17:58this modified version of Compound V exists. This is a version that gives you temporary superpowers,
18:04and that's where the moral dilemma of the season shows up. The Temp V will allow the boys to bite
18:09the Supes on equal footing, but it's unstable and probably lethal. Butcher, however, couldn't care
18:15less. He takes it without hesitation, and Huey follows suit out of desperation because power has
18:21always been the missing variable for Huey. He was always the weakest person in the room,
18:25and Temp V immediately solved that problem. He can finally do his part and protect Starlight
18:30and the boys when push comes to shove. But by taking Temp V, the boys are becoming the
18:35very thing that they oppose so far. Mother's Milk is absolutely horrified with this because his life
18:41had already been ruined by the careless actions of a suit from the past. So, in his eyes, this is
18:47like
18:47the utmost betrayal that could have happened. Speaking of which, let's talk about Soldier Boy. So,
18:53Soldier Boy used to be Vaught's original patriotic hero. However, he disappeared decades earlier
18:59under mysterious circumstances. As it turned out, he was betrayed by his own team and was
19:04handed over to the Russians, and was experimented on for years. You can tell that Homelander and
19:10Soldier Boy are both cut from the same cloth because both of them showcase the same problematic traits of
19:15Vaught. And, surprise surprise, he eventually escapes from captivity. And with him, he brings this new
19:22ability. A radioactive blast that neutralizes superpowers. And suddenly, Homelander gets a
19:28reality check. He isn't invincible anymore. And with this new contender in the game, Butcher
19:33immediately sees opportunities. In his eyes, Soldier Boy is the necessary evil to kill a greater one.
19:39Now, Soldier Boy couldn't care less about justice at all. All he cared about was getting revenge on his
19:44teammates for betraying him and being acknowledged by the world for his greatness. The similarities between
19:50Homelander and Soldier Boy are pretty hard to ignore. But, while Butcher is trying to make progress
19:55using Soldier Boy, Huey is getting more and more power drunk. With Temp V, he now has the power to
20:02teleport. And now that he isn't the weakest dude in the room at any given moment, he becomes more
20:06decisive, more active, and things like that. Which is great, but Starlight can see that Huey is slowly
20:11starting to become like the monster that she once condemned. Kimiko, on the other hand, goes through a
20:16massive arc. They have a mission in Russia, and there, she takes a direct hit from Soldier Boy's
20:21radioactive blast. As a result, she loses her powers completely. Now, this is a freedom she wanted for
20:26a long time. But, she soon realizes that she needs Compound V to protect all her loved ones.
20:32So, after losing her powers, she chooses to take Compound V again because she wants the freedom to
20:37choose to be a superhero. And Frenchie has to accept that if he truly loves Kimiko, he should let her
20:42choose and respect her autonomy. Coming back to Homelander, he is just straight up murdering people
20:47in the street like it's a normal Tuesday activity, and his fanbase simply radicalizes him. Eventually,
20:54Homelander exposes Stan Edgar, removes him from power, and becomes the head of Vaught. But, here's
20:59the problem. He's absolutely garbage at governing. He can't plan or think long term, because everything
21:05is driven by impulse and paranoia. And now that Edgar isn't there, there is no one containing
21:10Homelander or trying to communicate with him. So, Homelander just keeps being more and more
21:14dangerous. And seeing that, Butcher is sure that by killing Homelander, the nightmare will end.
21:20But, then we find out that Soldier Boy is actually Homelander's biological father. And Homelander's
21:26entire psychology flips, because he realizes that he just wants to be accepted by his father. And that
21:32would probably end the cycle in that moment. But, Soldier Boy is just as narcissistic as Homelander,
21:38if not more. So, of course, he doesn't think highly of Homelander. He calls him a disappointment,
21:44and Homelander crashes out. The final showdown happens in Vaught Tower, where Maeve fights Homelander
21:49to save everyone. Butcher, in a crucial moment, turns on Soldier Boy when he realizes that Ryan
21:55might become collateral damage, and Huey helps Starlight finally instead of chasing control.
22:00Even though these are not big victories, they mean a lot because they're important. Maeve survives the
22:06fight, but her powers are lost, finally giving her the freedom that she wanted for so long.
22:10Soldier Boy is neutralized and returned to containment, and Homelander survives,
22:14more dangerous than ever. But hey, at least Ryan knows that Butcher wouldn't sacrifice
22:18him for the greater good or vengeance that has driven Butcher through the past seasons.
22:27Gen V Season 1. I swear, when Gen V was announced, I was the most hyped, because this was the
22:33perfect
22:33detour in my eyes. Instead of focusing the camera on already adults who are messed up, I want to see
22:38how the youth in the boys' universe choose to be good or bad. And we get to see that in
22:43Godolken
22:44University, a college for Supes that's run by Vaught. The main character is Marie Moreau,
22:49a young woman whose superpower is controlling blood. Yeah, I know. This is a very intimate power,
22:54and when you learn her tragic backstory, it feels even more horrifying. As a child,
22:59she didn't know what her powers could do, and in a moment of panic, she accidentally killed her
23:04parents. Instead of guiding this young kid, who's clearly scared out of her mind, the system abandoned
23:10her, and Marie grew up in foster care. So ending up in Godolken is a big deal for her. Speaking
23:15of which,
23:16Godolken is the absolute nightmare of a college that I can think of. The students are constantly
23:21ranked, and their popularity is always measured. Their main goal is to make sure they get into a
23:25superhero team that's popular, like the Seven. And as long as the superhero is marketable, that's
23:30possible. The students are encouraged to be ruthless, and Marie quickly becomes entangled with
23:36a small group of students. You have Emma Meyer, who can become smaller if she purges. Jordan Lee,
23:41who can shift between male and female forms. Andre Anderson, the son of a famous hero. And Kate
23:46Dunlap, who can control the mind through touch. And hovering around them, you have Golden Boy,
23:52the top-ranked student of the university. He's the powerful, attractive, marketable superhero that the
23:57university wants. But there's a small issue. He is deeply unstable. In the very first episode,
24:03we see him kill himself in the most public, eye-catching way possible. But, of course,
24:08Vaught immediately smooths it over and discourages investigation. However, Golden Boy was Andre's
24:14best friend. And Andre isn't going to take no for an answer. So, he starts digging into his
24:19friend's last few days, and finds out something that's darker than he ever could have imagined.
24:23Turns out, students are always going missing from the university, and there's a facility
24:28underneath the campus called The Woods. We, the audience, also find out that Dean Shetty
24:33actually ordered Dr. Cardoza to create the highly contagious super-virus, which will kill
24:39every soup by stripping them of their power. Keep this in mind, we'll circle back to it later.
24:44This facility, as you can guess, is the hidden underground laboratory where soups who are too
24:48unstable are imprisoned and experimented on. These experiments are brutal, invasive, and specifically
24:54designed to figure out how to weaponize or suppress superpowers. Now, Marie's power makes
24:59her valuable to Vaught. Blood control is not only a good power for attacks, but it can also help them
25:04understand medical manipulation at a microscopic level. As Marie grows out of her introverted shell,
25:09she slowly starts to understand just how dangerous her powers can be. Which means she's a big and
25:14growing threat to the system that wants her to be subservient. But, she's not the only one who's
25:19going through changes. Remember Kate? Yeah, she can also manipulate memories by touch. At first,
25:24when it came out that Kate was manipulating students' memories, people assumed that Kate was forced into
25:29doing this. But soon it becomes obvious that she's doing it, because she genuinely felt like
25:34what she was doing was the right thing to do. Because order requires sacrifice, and free will is not
25:39something soups should have. The groups soon find out that Golden Boy killed himself because he
25:44discovered the truth and couldn't live with it. And what's the truth? His younger brother Sam is there,
25:49being horrifically experimented on. Sam is very powerful, but he's deeply traumatized. And if
25:55people knew that Sam existed, the moral bankruptcy of Godolken's entire mission would come out. Andre
26:01knows it's wrong, and when he tries to talk to Polarity, his father, who's also a Godolken alumnus,
26:06he doesn't get the support he thought he would. Polarity comes from a generation that accepted these
26:11because it was worth it to them. So now, Andre has to decide if this is what legacy he wants
26:16to carry with
26:17him, or if he'll break the cycle, even if it means that harm would come their way. Kate starts to
26:22go
26:23fully cuckoo bananas, because she genuinely believes that soups are superior beings and human oversight
26:29is just a cage. The woods is created because humans are scared of what they don't understand.
26:34So she and Sam eventually cause this violent uprising and start attacking humans. Marie, Jordan,
26:40Emma, and Andre have to pick a side. Do they save the system that's definitely exploiting them and
26:45people like them? Or do they support their friends in this revolution, which will definitely cause a
26:50lot of deaths? Well, Marie makes her choice, and she chooses not to kill people. But despite that,
26:55Marie and the gang are tagged as radicals, Kate and Sam are recast as heroic symbols of soup resistance,
27:02and Vaught manages to successfully twist the narrative. Season 4 of The Boys
27:07The fourth season of The Boys picks up at the point where nothing can be contained anymore. The masks that
27:12kept everything contained to a degree are all off. And now the question is, what happens after the
27:18goddamn mask comes off? Well, let's see. So Homelander has killed a man in public,
27:23and no one is crucifying him for it. Vaught has successfully integrated itself into politics,
27:28and now superheroes and authoritarian power both go hand in hand. The boys are barely holding together,
27:33and the group is definitely older and knows that only exposure will not get them the goal that they want.
27:39On top of that, Butcher is dying because of temp V use. His organs are failing on him,
27:44and this countdown clock hangs over his head throughout the season. He knows that he'll probably
27:48not survive long enough to see the end of the war that he escalated, and that makes him worse.
27:52He's more volatile, manipulative, and more than happy to burn everything down if it means that
27:58Homelander will die a horrible death. But, at the same time, he can't forget his promise to Becca.
28:02So, Butcher is constantly being torn apart between the annihilation of Homelander and guardianship over
28:08Ryan. Hughie, on the other hand, has just given up. With Victoria Newman's betrayal, his faith in
28:14institutional correction is completely gone. But, he isn't completely on board with Butcher's
28:19brutal philosophy either. So, Hughie is fatigued. He wants to do the right thing, but he no longer
28:24knows what the right thing is. So, he just keeps freezing up. And, understandably, that starts to
28:28affect his relationship with Starlight. And, Starlight is increasingly more disillusioned.
28:33She publicly resigns from the Seven, and rejects Vaught's machinery completely. Now,
28:38that makes her a target, and the backlash is immediate. She gets harassed online, and through
28:43Starlight, we realize that sometimes speaking your truth doesn't free you. It instead puts a huge
28:48target on your back, which will haunt you for the rest of your life. Mother's Milk is the only one
28:51in
28:52the group who hasn't been corrupted, per se, but things are not looking good for him. He doesn't know how
28:56to keep his family safe in a world that looks like it's about to implode on itself. Frenchie and Kimiko
29:01try to imagine their life together, but the world around them just won't leave them in peace.
29:05Frenchie is constantly haunted by the people he has killed and the systems he was a part of.
29:10Kimiko, on the other hand, struggles to deal with what she has become. Despite those failures,
29:15both of them agree on who they are and coexist with it, which is sweet to watch in a bittersweet
29:20kind
29:20of way. Homelander, on the other hand, has completely stabilized, but not in a good way. See,
29:25all of his insecurities, neediness, hunger for approval, they're still there. But now,
29:29he wants validation the most out of these. He figured out that cruelty can be a political
29:33asset, and now he's the champion. He has a crazy group of people who eat up everything he tells
29:39them, and that is true strength. And as we watch this unravel, we realize that he is a focal point,
29:45but the sole problem lies within the entire system as a whole. Just because Vought, politicians,
29:50media figures, etc. would benefit from having Homelander on their good side, they'll just
29:55keep enabling him and amplifying all of his bad sides, even if it means it would endanger everyone.
30:01But there's one person who might make a bit of a difference, and that is Ryan.
30:05Even though Ryan is Homelander's son, he isn't Homelander. He's sensitive,
30:09sweet, and very much affected by the violence around him because he's still a child.
30:14Homelander loves Ryan in the only way he knows how, which is by being possessive. But Ryan doesn't really
30:19budge. But Ryan also understands that Butcher is still struggling with his hatred and guilt towards
30:24Homelander, which will eventually strain their relationship. So in a way, it's like because of
30:29Ryan, Homelander and Butcher are both in a balance. Now let's talk about the central plotline of this
30:34season. In this season, we have Victoria Newman, now a vice presidential candidate. She presents
30:39herself as calm and pragmatic, the exact opposite of Homelander. But we know that she's just as dangerous
30:44as he is. And the secret's finally out. She's exposed to the public as the soup and Huey.
30:49He knows that no matter how different she looks, Newman is not a cure. She's simply a different
30:54form of the same disease. And as time goes on, things go from bad to worse. The soups are no
30:59longer saviors or symbols of hope and peace. They're basically enforcers who are deployed to make sure
31:05everyone bows down to the same system that benefits the soups. Billy's health declines, and with this kind
31:11of collapsing state of the world, he starts investigating anything and everything he could
31:15if it meant he could get rid of the soups. He heard rumors of this virus that can kill soups,
31:20and he considers getting it, even though he knows this would basically be a genocide in hiding. But
31:25Butcher is more than happy to take that step, and forces the boys to confront where the line is that
31:31would solve the problem, and whether they've already crossed it, and now have become part of the
31:35problem. The group obviously can't agree, and everyone has different opinions. But to a heavy
31:40question like this, there's no easy answer. Because every answer they can come up with will
31:45have irreversible consequences. Even if they don't like it. In the meantime, Homelander's grip on Vought
31:50tightens, and his paranoia grows along with it. He sees enemies everywhere, and he starts obsessing
31:56over Ryan the moment he feels like things are getting out of control. So, Homelander tries to cope with
32:01everything by asserting his dominance over the future itself. The season ends with Homelander taking
32:06control over the US government by following Sister Sages, his new strategist he handpicked,
32:11Plan. Victoria Newman gets killed by Butcher, and separates from the Boys, hoping to keep everyone
32:16safe. However, everyone except Starlight from the group gets taken into custody by Vought-employed
32:22Supes. Yep, their army of Supes. And Ryan, bless his heart, kills Grace Mallory, the founder of the
32:30Boys team, and runs away. And as if that's not enough, in a mid-credits scene, we're shown that
32:35Soldier Boy is still alive, clearly setting him up to join the fight in the fifth season.
32:40Gen V Season 2. The season starts off with a flashback straight to 1967. We see Dr. Thomas
32:47Godalkin, an employee of Vought, and the key figure in Project Odessa running down the halls. Why is he
32:53running? He's trying to stop the scientists from injecting this early version of Compound V into their
32:57veins. However, the scientists don't listen, and the experiment ends in absolute catastrophe. The
33:04scientists are violently killed, and Godalkin is left severely burned as he tries to hit the emergency
33:09button. Before we have time to digest all that, we jump to the present day, and Emma and Jordan
33:15are extracted from the Elmira facility and dropped back at Godalkin University. They meet with Kate,
33:21who's very smug because she's the reason for their release, but they're not super happy about it.
33:25No one's forgotten Kate's betrayal from last season, and this is also where we find out that
33:29Andre, our leading man from Season 1, has been killed, which leaves Kate completely horrified.
33:35Now we're introduced to Stacey, the soup who can cough up honey, the new PR rep for God You.
33:41She forces Emma and Jordan to read fabricated statements that completely shift the blame for
33:46the first season's campus massacre onto Indira Shetty, and her experiments in the woods. Obviously,
33:51they're doing that because Vaught needs a pristine image. Jordan, on the other hand, is upset about
33:56Marie's disappearance, and when they ask Kate, it turns out that Marie simply disappeared?
34:01Then we're introduced to Cypher, the new Dean who claims that the soup-killing virus is no more,
34:07and pushes this anti-human rhetoric under race traitors like Starlight. Meaning, we are about to
34:12have the soups versus humans to a new level pretty soon. But where's Marie in all this? Well, she's out
34:18and
34:18about surviving off scraps looking for her sister, Annabeth. She eventually sees Emma and Jordan's
34:24TV interview, and obviously feels very hurt by it. She doesn't know what's happening behind the
34:28scenes and tries to keep her head down. But when she sees that Homelander's minions are harassing
34:33Starlight's fans, Marie intervenes and manages to defeat them. But this puts her on Vaught's radar,
34:39and Vaught sends a soup named Dognaught to hunt her. He manages to overpower her, but luckily,
34:44Starlight arrives and knocks Dognaught out. Starlight then recruits Marie for a crucial mission.
34:49Marie has to return to Godolken University and find information on Project Odessa and eventually
34:54help bring Homelander down. Now, Marie was not super gang-gang about it, because she's still
35:00looking for her sister. But Marie eventually agrees, because it's the right thing to do.
35:04Emma and Jordan finally reunite with Marie after Emma accidentally comes across her. They understandably
35:09argue over the PR statements and Andre's death. But the arguments cut short when Kate interrupts
35:15them and asks them to go back to school. Kate reaches her hand out, and Jordan, knowing how
35:19Kate manipulated everyone until now, refuses to touch her. They actually launch Kate into an electric
35:24junction box, and Kate starts bleeding. Marie tries to save her, but Emma and Jordan physically stop her
35:30and return to Godolken University. Once they return, Cypher reveals that Andre actually sacrificed
35:35himself by pushing himself past his limits so that Emma and Jordan could escape, which is a genetic
35:40condition he shares with his father. But that's not all. Cypher also subtly implies that he knows
35:46about Kate's accident and how our group is involved in it. Meanwhile, Dognaught kills the Starlight fan
35:51that Marie saved and frames him as Kate's attacker, which conveniently clears the names of the students in
35:57the eyes of the public. With that chapter closed, they focus on investigating Project Odessa and Polarity,
36:02who was mourning his son, decides to become an assistant dean at Godolken University so that
36:07he can investigate Cypher. As the season progresses, we basically get whiplash with one piece of info
36:12over to the next piece of info over to the next piece of info. Too many storylines, but I'll try
36:18to
36:18streamline it all for you. So, Cypher. Yeah, in his house, we find out that there is a burnt body
36:23in a hyperbaric chamber. And who's the burnt body? Godolken himself. And he's very much alive.
36:28Marie and her gang do their research to find out that Project Odessa and Marie are related.
36:32Turns out, Project Odessa was this Vought overseen project where Compound V was injected
36:37into babies before birth using IVF, and has only given two successful results until now.
36:43Marie and, you guessed it, Homelander. So, technically, Marie and Homelander are on the
36:48same power loop. Now, because of this snooping around, Kate gets caught and sent back to Elmira.
36:53She has no power, and things are not looking good for her. So, Emma, Jordan, and Marie break into
36:58Elmira and get caught all to save Kate. While there, Cypher tries to twist Marie into being on
37:04his team by showing her Annabeth, her sister. See, up until now, Cypher has been pushing Marie to
37:09control her powers better because she's stronger than she thinks she is. But Marie has been very meh
37:14about it. While escaping Elmira, Marie tries to get Annabeth, but she finds Annabeth completely dead.
37:20Slit throat and a pool of blood surrounding her. But guess what? Marie performs a miracle and brings
37:26Annabeth back to life. As Annabeth is brought back to life, she also awakens to her own super ability,
37:32which is precognition. Together, the group tries to run away, but here things get a bit muddled.
37:37See, Marie can tell that Cypher doesn't have Compound V in his blood, but Cypher is able to
37:42control people's minds. Emma sent an SOS to Harper, and Cypher mind controlled Harper to get their
37:47location info, and sent Victor a soup after them. But then, they're reduced by Stan Edgar and Zoe
37:53Newman, and taken to an underground bunker where they would be safe. This is where we get the big
37:57info dump on the Odessa project. Edgar theorizes that Cypher is trying to recreate Godolkin's work,
38:02and create a supremacist world. So to stop that, Marie tries to go to Dr. Godolkin. Marie heals the
38:08burnt man, and this is where we find out the surprise again. Godolkin is the one who has been
38:13controlling Cypher, who's actually a human vessel named Doug. Godolkin, who's now all healed,
38:18basically wants to kill off all the useless heroes, and joins Sister Sage at Vought Tower.
38:23Sister Sage so far was all okay with Godolkin's evil plan, but now, once she saw his entire crash
38:29out first hand, she realizes that he's actually crazy, and wants to mind control Homelander,
38:34which would be absolutely insane. So, she betrays Godolkin and frees Polarity, who's now healed of
38:40his condition thanks to Marie, and joins the fight to save everyone. Marie also gives Kate
38:44her powers back once she's sure that Kate is no longer a backstabber. Despite everyone's protests,
38:50Marie joins the fight, and although at first it seems like Godolkin will take over Marie's mind,
38:54Marie manages to come out on top by bursting his head, Victoria Newman style. But the massacre was huge,
39:01and Vought officials are on their way. Polarity pushed the kids out of the university,
39:05claiming his seat as the acting dean to keep Vought off their backs.
39:09The season ends with Starlight and A-Train meeting with the kids and asking them to join
39:13the resistance so that they can finally take down Homelander and the Vought Corporation for good.
39:22Why Season 5 of The Boys Will Be The Final War
39:26See, everything we've talked about until now basically leads up to the final war,
39:31the big battle that will decide the future of this world. There are no more delays,
39:34because everything is boiled over. We have Homelander who no longer needs legitimacy. He has
39:39an audience that worships him and Vought. They have political reach, cultural dominance,
39:44and a group of Supes who have been completely shaped to see supremacy or control as the two viable
39:49options. On the other hand, humans have a virus that will specifically target and kill Supes in their
39:54hand, which is literally the biggest nuke they could have. So, in a way, you can tell that the scales
40:00are finely balanced. Now what we have to see is who wins and how. How dirty would each of these
40:06groups
40:06play to get one up on the other? Which group will lose? I'd like to say that I hope the
40:11boys win
40:11and everything goes well, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get a bleak ending that makes
40:15us wonder if winning was even worth it, because the cost of winning is far too great. Don't forget
40:19to tune in on April 8th on Prime Video and catch the first two episodes of this final showdown.
40:25With that, we come to the end of our video. Let us know if you guys are excited to see
40:29this new season
40:30of Gen V and the boys, and who you think will join hands with Vaught, and who will join hands
40:35with
40:35the boys. I think Marie would probably join hands with the boys and play a big role in the last
40:40fight,
40:40but it would be interesting if she joined hands with Vaught instead, and the boys have to figure
40:44out how to get around her. Leave a comment below, and don't forget to subscribe. Bye-bye!
