00:00Previously on Seven Little Johnstons.
00:02This weekend, we are all visiting my girlfriend Allie in Ohio.
00:07Yeah.
00:08You have to be in control.
00:10I'm trying to control it.
00:12So bridesmaid's dresses have been ordered,
00:15but we got to get you scheduled for picking out your style of suit.
00:19Is camouflage and good color to use?
00:22No.
00:23So I want to make Liz happy,
00:26but I want to find a way to bring some camouflage in this wedding.
00:31Proposal came in for Elizabeth's wedding.
00:34I got to sit down for this one.
00:36It's a lot more than what we will be able to do.
00:40We need to sit down with Elizabeth and Bryce
00:43and, you know, see what we can cut,
00:47and hopefully, you know, Elizabeth doesn't freak out.
01:07We recently got the wedding budget,
01:09and it is a lot.
01:11It is a lot of money,
01:13and we need to cut this by at least 30%.
01:17So it's important for us to sit down with Elizabeth,
01:20talk about it, pump the brakes,
01:23and see what we can do to make some adjustments,
01:27some changes,
01:28and cut back a lot of money.
01:32So we have to discuss...
01:36It's a wedding proposal slash money.
01:44The wedding proposal came in.
01:46We've looked at it, and we've looked at it all over.
01:48It looks like it's a lot.
01:49It is.
01:50When you get to that final number at the back, it is.
01:54The final number at the back is not doable.
02:00Yeah, no.
02:02How much is it?
02:03Let Bryce look at it, too.
02:04That's more than a down payment.
02:06I don't know if he wants to look at it.
02:07My eyes are probably dropped down.
02:14I was in no-go when I saw that price.
02:17I was like, no, we got to drop that down, like, right now.
02:21That doesn't include the wedding dress, the tuxes.
02:27Not even food.
02:28That's definitely going to have to be adjusted.
02:32Wow, weddings are really this expensive.
02:34I was just amazed because it's, like, just a backyard wedding.
02:37We just wanted to add some flowers and, of course, the chair rentals.
02:40And, yeah, I was pretty shocked.
02:44Clearly, Mom and Dad and you two are going to be
02:48footing the bill for the majority of this.
02:49Yeah.
02:50But no matter if we had five different families
02:54contributing to this,
02:55it still doesn't make sense at that number.
02:57This wedding quote, it came in right at $55,000.
03:01And I look at it as, like, that's a lot of money for four or five hours.
03:05So we need to trim back at least, like, $20,000, $25,000.
03:08Here's what I find to be the two most important things.
03:12Uh-huh.
03:13The ceremony and the dinner.
03:16Wherever you guys can make adjustments
03:18for, like, the seating around the fire pit.
03:21Yeah.
03:22I'm not saying take things, don't take it away, cut back.
03:26Seating around fire pits, cocktail hour, things like that.
03:30That's, that's, start making adjustments there.
03:33So the most expensive thing, obviously, is going to be, like,
03:36the tent, the chair, and the table rentals.
03:38But there were some of these floral arrangements
03:40that were just over $2,000, $3,000 in that ballpark.
03:45And Bryce and I, we really don't need that many flowers.
03:48So really, it's like we ultimately just have to tone down
03:51all the decorative items.
03:53Only the four of us know about that list.
03:55So all your guests, none of them will know
03:58what's been cut from the wedding.
03:59Exactly.
03:59They only know what they see.
04:01It's not like I'm having to get everybody's approval.
04:03It's whoever's fitting the budget.
04:04Well, but you do always want to have good food.
04:08Your dress looks good on you.
04:12Which we've nailed that, so.
04:13Wedding planning, you know, was stressful.
04:17But now it's really stressful since we are having to reconsider the budget
04:22and definitely cut back on some of the things that we want for our wedding.
04:27All right, so we know what we have to do.
04:28You finish going through that list.
04:30Yeah.
04:30Whether it's you and Bryce or you and Mom.
04:32Trim it up.
04:33If you need to borrow a weed eater, how long are you a weed eater?
04:36You got to trim that thing up.
04:38And we still have to go tuck shopping.
04:40I also have to design a groom's cake for Bryce.
04:44But you know, in the back of my vine, I'm just worrying about the budget.
05:08It's warmer back here.
05:09A little bit, yeah.
05:12Yeah, our studio in the summer can get upwards of 130 degrees in here.
05:16The wedding planning is definitely creating some stress to our lives, so it's good to take some time for some
05:25creative, fun, you know, activities with the family that we can all enjoy.
05:30We're going to make a couple of drinking glasses like these ones, the stemless wine glass shape, and then the
05:35whiskey glass shape.
05:36So there's all different ways to work with glass, too, to make smaller objects like pendants, jewelry, things like that.
05:43Emma has an online jewelry business where she makes primarily earrings.
05:48I've been doing it for, I think, five years now.
05:51And I might be interested in putting glassblowing in my business.
05:56I can maybe see if I can make an earring out of it or something.
06:02Do you want to stand right here for me in front of that cool, breezing fan?
06:06Nice and toasty.
06:09Right now in our home, there is a lot of focus on Elizabeth and the wedding.
06:13But it's also important for me to remember that we still have Jonah, Alex, and Emma that have everyday activities
06:22and interest
06:23and make sure all of their activities or academic needs and things are addressed
06:28and they're just included in the family and not everybody's just absorbed in a wedding.
06:33Oh, you got mom helping?
06:34Yes.
06:36All right.
06:38You're going to hold it.
06:39If you hold it up here a little bit, it'll be easier.
06:41Bring it up underneath.
06:42A few challenges right off the top.
06:45One was being able to reach the wooden ladle.
06:50Teamwork.
06:50Yeah.
06:51Oh, yeah.
06:52It's a little people thing.
06:53So, you know, a lot of people say, oh, well, I'm short too.
06:57Well, the difference is, is that we have an average size torso.
07:00Our arms and our legs are short.
07:02Therefore, our reach is short.
07:04The other thing that was challenging is when you have to take the long tongs, the really long ones,
07:12and work your glass, the mouth of your glass when you're having to widen it.
07:19You're going to lean out a little bit.
07:21We're going to try to get these.
07:22Come on, Emma.
07:23You can do it.
07:23We're going to go down.
07:25Yeah.
07:26There again, arm reach is very short.
07:29These tongs are very long.
07:30You don't want to burn yourself.
07:32But Jonah was like, hold it.
07:34I'm standing up.
07:34Jonah's arms do not straighten out.
07:37I mean, they're very constricted.
07:38So, he knew he was going to have to stand up.
07:41One more.
07:43Nice.
07:48That's our little maker's mark.
07:50That's how we know it's handmade.
07:51Yeah.
07:5330 seconds of him demonstrating.
07:55I'm like, oh, we got, this is good.
07:56I'm not saying the task is easy, but we're all able to do it clear as day.
08:01Grab the pipe.
08:02We're going to tap in the white and keep turning that.
08:06All right.
08:07Let's bring it over to our glory hole over here.
08:11And you're going to rotate that.
08:14It's warm in here.
08:15And it's because of these furnaces, which one's actually called a glory hole, which is totally inappropriate.
08:24That's, that's.
08:24Do you know what that is, Emma?
08:25He's, the boy is asking the sister, do you know what a glory hole is?
08:29No, Dad, I know what, no, I'm saying.
08:32Of course you do.
08:32You have a smartphone.
08:34I was being like, if Emma knows what that is, probably not.
08:37Do you all know what a glory hole is?
08:40I do know what a glory hole is.
08:43Let's hear it.
08:44A glory hole can be pretty pervy.
08:49A glory hole is the hole that you stick glass in to melt it.
08:54And a glory hole can be glory, glory, glory.
09:00Or a glory hole could be
09:02Oh, God.
09:05Just past the inside?
09:06Yep.
09:07You just stick the tip in.
09:09Yeah, just the tip at this point.
09:11Today's the first time I've ever heard the word glory hole, and I think today's Emma's first time I've ever
09:16heard the word glory hole.
09:17You stick your pipe in the glory hole.
09:21That's great.
09:24Back towards you.
09:26Awesome.
09:28All right, back in the water.
09:29So glass blowing was fun, making the different types of cups.
09:34There we go.
09:35Nice.
09:36Looks good.
09:36Yeah.
09:38And I have no clue how I'm going to put this in my business.
09:43Like, I don't see it yet.
09:45We also do full-time classes.
09:47Like, if you really want to dive into, like, learning how to blow glass and get more hands on, we
09:52do things like that, both in the glass studio and the ceramic studio.
09:56I don't see Emma being a pro glass blower.
09:59Like, I don't see her just sitting by that kiln every day and getting all hot and sweaty and wearing,
10:04like, all the proper clothing and all that.
10:07But I just don't see that in Emma's interests.
10:09Cool.
10:10Well, thank you so much.
10:10Yeah, thank you.
10:11We enjoyed it.
10:12Yeah, for sure.
10:13Cool.
10:14You know, glass blowing was a lot of fun.
10:17And, you know, we learned some things, definitely learned how hot it is.
10:22It's just great to take a break from wedding planning for a moment.
10:25But tomorrow, we'll be right back at it.
10:29Tux fitting and all focused on wedding again.
10:32Thanks again, Brian.
10:33Absolutely.
10:34Appreciate it.
10:34Yeah.
10:37Go outside and get some air conditioning.
10:38No.
10:39Outside's hot, too.
10:43Hey, them country boys pulling up.
10:45Pulling up.
10:46With some big fat wheels on the truck.
10:48On the truck.
10:49And a pretty fine thing in the front.
10:52In the front.
10:53Hi.
10:54I brought all the guys.
10:55Yay.
10:56Hey, guys.
10:57This is Bryce, my fiance.
10:59And then I'll introduce your crew.
11:01With me today, I have my dad, Chuck, my twin brother, Brett,
11:05my older brother, Trey, and Trent, Alex, Jonah, and myself.
11:11There's not a lot of trust on how we're going to pick out tuxes today, so.
11:15Yeah.
11:15That's why you had to bring in the boss.
11:17Yes.
11:17That's right.
11:18Well, he wanted me to come, too.
11:19Yeah, I think Elizabeth has strong opinions, especially when the event has something to do with her.
11:26Yeah, her opinion becomes very serious.
11:29I have an inspo pic, too, to show just to kind of help.
11:32He has always, like, the traditional black and white tux.
11:35But we do want to just change, I guess, the accessories as far as the tie, the belt, and
11:39the shoes, and, like, the handkerchief to bring in more of the fall colors.
11:43But also, for my crew, y'all said that they would be able to rent.
11:47And that is the first time that we have heard that they can rent their suits to fit them.
11:52Yeah.
11:53We all took the, they take the pants leg and, like, stuff it all the way.
11:56Oh, to make it look.
11:58And then by the end of the night, at the end of the prom, the pants leg was...
12:02When it comes to suit shopping, or in this case, shopping and getting fitted for tuxedos,
12:09we know what to expect.
12:10We know going into this shop today that the tuxes are not made to fit us,
12:14and that we're looking at having to have lots of alterations done.
12:19So we are...
12:20So we need to weigh out the difference between if we can rent a tailored...
12:26Mm-hmm.
12:26...to fit us, or if we're better off just making a purchase.
12:30So you have the expert here.
12:32Stephanie is going to take great care of y'all.
12:34Who do you want to start?
12:35Um, you.
12:36We got to start with you first.
12:37Yeah, the groom.
12:38Can I get anybody anything to drink?
12:40We have, we have beer, we have mimosas, we have other...
12:44You have me a beer.
12:45Beer?
12:45Yeah, sure.
12:46Beer?
12:46Yeah.
12:47Beer.
12:47Beer.
12:48I would say shopping with some beer could definitely help.
12:52It would probably make me more motivated to go clothes shopping.
12:59It's good.
13:00It's free and it's cold.
13:02And with Elizabeth, I would definitely probably need at least five or six beers for us to get along while
13:10we clothes shop.
13:12Just take a few measurements.
13:13Once we look at the measurements, you can actually put them on and kind of see if you like the
13:16fit.
13:17You know, we'll have ties, bow ties.
13:20Bryce, don't be nervous.
13:21You're fine.
13:21Yeah, I'm fine.
13:22You got this.
13:22You got this.
13:23You look very handsome, Bryce.
13:25Bryce seems happy, but he is horrible when it comes to making decisions.
13:28And so that's why I'm here to be the decision maker.
13:31Are you sure you want the brown tie and the brown shoes?
13:33I think once you see it all come together, you'll be fine.
13:36I think you're just having a hard time seeing it until you actually put it on you.
13:40You'll be like, okay.
13:42So whenever they were doing all the measurements for my fittings, I was like, gosh, you know, I'm really ready
13:50to get this over with.
13:51I don't know, it's not really awkward.
13:53It's just like, okay, can we go to the next person?
13:57What do you think, Liz?
13:59It's nice.
14:00I definitely think, do you really like the vest?
14:02I'm very surprised that you're going with the vest.
14:04What, do you not like the vest?
14:05It's up to you.
14:08Up to you.
14:08I think it's a very classic look.
14:10I love the pants.
14:11I love the way the pants fit.
14:12I think once we do the brown shoes and the brown belt, it'll help me visualize it a little more,
14:15but we definitely need to go darker with that tie.
14:18So they had very slim options as far as tie colors for the brown that we're looking for.
14:23So I will be in charge of finding the belt and the tie to match the shoes to finish that
14:29brown look.
14:30I like that.
14:31I think that looks good.
14:32Of course, it's a different color tie, but it just stands out.
14:35In general, I've just never really been big on clothes shopping.
14:40I just, it just hasn't really been an interest.
14:42You want to know why?
14:43If there ain't no damn fishing hook, fish, piece of camo, animal on it, me ain't going to care.
14:51So that's not the color tie, right?
14:53No.
14:53The color's going to be darker.
14:54I think you need, the more white background, the more it's going to stand out and pop.
14:58I think real tree camo would look great.
15:00No.
15:01I do have another option if you can, if I can show y'all real quick.
15:03Yeah.
15:04Bryce has brought up wearing camo a few times, and I am getting tired of this argument because
15:10I am not having our wedding being remembered as some redneck camo like shindig.
15:16It needs to be remembered as a beautiful wedding.
15:20A wedding can still be beautiful with camo.
15:22No.
15:23So those are the kind of browns.
15:25But it's almost like we kind of, like this fabric is fine.
15:29Like the fabric type is perfect, but it's almost like if it's just a little bit darker.
15:33Yeah.
15:33Okay, so I know you said no to a vest, but we've got the camo tie.
15:37No.
15:38Oh my gosh, that's great.
15:39Yeah.
15:40No.
15:41Like that actually looks like I'm out in a deer stand on a wedding too.
15:43No.
15:44He can try it on, but we're not doing that.
15:46I really want to put on this camo vest.
15:50It just caught my eye so quick.
15:53I'm like, gosh, please let me wear this at the wedding.
15:59That's what I'm talking about.
16:00Yeah.
16:00It's great.
16:01I love it.
16:02The white lays good with the shirt.
16:05Yeah, the white.
16:06We're not just telling you that.
16:07No.
16:08Per usual, Bryce looks good in camo, and you are having the biggest day of your life.
16:13In a couple of months, why not wear what you look good in?
16:17The men on the couches want to know, how do you like it?
16:19I like it a lot.
16:20I don't.
16:21Like, this is me.
16:23We're not doing camo.
16:25It's very much him.
16:26You chose him.
16:27He is a southern boy, not a redneck.
16:29That's not redneck.
16:31Do we think, like, Liz should just relax and let Bryce have some fun?
16:37Oh, I'm not going to answer that.
16:40You can't walk away from this and say that's not him.
16:43What can you do to make Elizabeth like this?
16:45I don't think there's not a whole lot.
16:47I've got to be nice in front of my father-in-law.
16:49I can't get mean with Jonah.
16:51But Pop hasn't seen that side of me with Jonah, or else Jonah would...
16:55I cannot wait till Jonah's wedding day, because I'm going to be like,
16:58we're going to put feathers.
16:59We're going to have orange.
17:00Jonah.
17:02Mmm.
17:03Not in camo, though.
17:05Oh, that looks awful, Bryce.
17:07I'm giving him a very Bryce-themed groomsman cake.
17:10That's his surprise.
17:12Set it aside.
17:13No.
17:25I'm giving him a very Bryce-themed groomsman cake.
17:28That's his surprise.
17:30Set it aside.
17:31No.
17:33So, of course, you know, Bryce loves hunting, and of course they had camo.
17:38So I was pretty much ganged up on from all the guys of wanting to go with the camo.
17:44Chuck, let's ask Dad.
17:45What's he think?
17:47The wedding?
17:48Uh-huh.
17:49The wedding itself?
17:50Yeah.
17:51Just like you like?
17:53Just like you want?
17:55All right.
17:56We're all in agreement with that.
17:58But at the reception, what if he changes to that?
18:06I'm fine with that.
18:08Because we'll have all the pretty photos out of the way.
18:11Good job, ladies.
18:11Well, those will be, like, very fun.
18:13Good job, Paul.
18:14Yeah.
18:14Fun photos.
18:15Let's put it this way.
18:16I thought it was a good compromise.
18:18I thought it was a good compromise.
18:20I'm glad that she was for it, for the reception.
18:23But I get it.
18:24I mean, I want it for the wedding.
18:26I mean, I perfectly understand.
18:27As long as I get to wear it, no matter if it's in the reception or not, I'll be happy.
18:31All right.
18:32Cool.
18:32Very cool.
18:33All right.
18:33Everybody else, get measured up.
18:35I'm telling you some new trim setters.
18:37Yes.
18:39I'm feeling pretty okay with Bryce's, you know, suit fitting.
18:43I am, you know, just a little bit nervous when it comes to my family's suit fittings,
18:48because I have Jonah, Alex, and my dad to worry about.
18:53And, you know, they're little people, so it's a lot of fun.
18:57That's going to be a little snug, so we're definitely going to need a 38 in his jacket.
19:01Okay.
19:02When it comes to multiple pieces, like a suit, the measurements are pretty tedious.
19:09We don't want the suit butt, like the size of the suit, to be too long.
19:12We don't want the arms too long, but we don't want the shoulders to feel too tight.
19:16We don't want the pants to look, like, super baggy.
19:19Is the shirt good, or do you want to go up one size?
19:21Because right now, you're kind of...
19:23I mean, I can untuck it, or is it...
19:26I mean, do you think it's too small?
19:28I have not worked with little people before.
19:30I was glad that we did bring an assortment of sizing
19:32to kind of weigh out what wouldn't work and what did work.
19:35This isn't, like, perfect, but it kind of gives you an idea.
19:38Yeah.
19:39We want them to be pretty fitted, but not like skinny jean fit,
19:42just that nice, comfortable fit.
19:46Feel good?
19:47So there's a lot that goes into the alterations for my side.
19:52Bryce's side is super easy-peasy for the most part,
19:55but luckily, everything was fitting everybody pretty well.
19:59Thank goodness, even the shoes.
20:01And then your height?
20:035'1".
20:04No.
20:0551 inches tall.
20:06It's 4'3".
20:08All right, all right.
20:09Okay.
20:09I say 5'1", because that's 51 inches,
20:12which translates to 4'3".
20:15Okay, let's do your neck.
20:17Math, what's this thing?
20:18Biggest challenge is, does it make more sense to purchase these tuxedos
20:25and have them permanently altered to fit the three of us,
20:29or for us to rent the tuxedos and have them adapted,
20:37which is basically all the legs and the sleeves tucked up underneath, tucked inside?
20:44So if we went the whole rental route, what's the price for just these three?
20:49Based on the...
20:50$236 with shoes.
20:51$236 with shoes?
20:52Okay.
20:53And then if we bought?
20:54The jacket is usually around $329, and the pants are like $129.
20:58So right, you know, between $450 to $500.
21:01It would be great if we could go the rental route, just to see.
21:05So after having a talk with my parents about the whole wedding budget
21:10and now having an idea of what our wedding budget is,
21:14I'm really hoping that we will be able to rent all of the groom and groomsman's tuxes.
21:21Yes, but in my experience, I've done modified tuxes where they just tuck it up,
21:27and then you don't mean to, but you put your foot in there.
21:30You have to make sure you get it all to lay flat.
21:33You don't stick your foot behind the hem and tear it out.
21:37Okay.
21:38You know, my dad and brothers are not super comfortable with renting these tuxes,
21:43so it looks like they are going to purchase these tuxes
21:47to just have altered, like we always do with our clothes,
21:50and it's something that we're definitely concerned about.
21:53I'll do belts and ties.
21:55Shoes, pants, jacket, shirts are done.
21:58So now that we have finished the suits,
22:01I'm just literally thinking about all the dates that we have.
22:05The date for my dress to come in, the date for the suits to come in,
22:09and I am hoping that everything comes in time.
22:11Y'all made it painless.
22:12Thank you very much.
22:13Thank you, thank you.
22:14Thank you so much.
22:15Hopefully we'll be handsome.
22:27Sweet, sweet.
22:30Layton absolutely loves animals.
22:32You know, we took her to a farm where they had a lot of animals
22:37that Layton was allowed to, you know, like, pet and come in close contact with.
22:42Oh, look, here comes the chickens, look.
22:45Oh, and the rooster.
22:47Chickens, I don't mind.
22:49She loves the chickens.
22:51Yeah.
22:52Bawk, bawk.
22:52Bawk, bawk.
22:53Bawk, bawk.
22:54Look, there's the chickens.
22:56What's the chickens say?
22:57We got him.
22:58Bawk, bawk.
22:59So this gave me the idea of let's get some animals that Layton can play with at the house.
23:07We have some cats, but I think it would be fun to expand and get some chickens.
23:15So, I mean, you can just look up, like, chicken varieties or something.
23:20We had Rhode Island Reds.
23:21I love the silky chickens.
23:24Those are funny looking.
23:25Silky chickens have a very unique look to them.
23:28It looks like they have, like, fur wood and, like, feathers.
23:32That is so cool.
23:34If I had to describe a silky chicken to somebody, I would just say, like, imagine just like your ordinary
23:39chicken, but, like, with a bunch of fur and it looks like a big fuzz ball.
23:42And you can't really see their eyes either, so.
23:45I feel like they look like a hot mess.
23:48Layton would love those.
23:49Yeah.
23:50She would.
23:50But it would be so cute to see her, like, go and get the eggs and go and, you know,
23:56do the feed and see if silky chickens lay eggs.
24:00Because I would have, like, fresh chicken eggs.
24:04Yes, silky chickens do lay eggs.
24:06Okay.
24:06You know, they don't lay as many eggs.
24:08They lay, like, every couple days, which is just fine for our family.
24:12Is that bad?
24:13I think so.
24:15Oh, if he comes over here, this is what we'll tell him.
24:18Telling Trent that the family is getting chickens, I mean, I'm sure he'll have some hesitation at first and he'll
24:24be like, eh.
24:26We are thinking about getting chickens.
24:29Oh, Sam Hill.
24:30But silky chickens.
24:32We have been doing our research.
24:34We can actually order silky chickens.
24:36They will be delivered.
24:38This is what kind of chicken we want.
24:40Okay, I'll give you 20 of them.
24:41Yeah.
24:44That looks like a child dog.
24:46I know.
24:47Do they have to be in the shade?
24:47Are we buying this off of looks?
24:49Yes.
24:50These chickens that they're looking at now, I think they're very cool looking.
24:54I think they're very, like, out of the ordinary.
24:58But when I look at them, I think about, like, witch doc in the 70s and hippies.
25:04Yeah.
25:05So here's something you need to consider.
25:08What?
25:08Real life.
25:09We don't live in the city.
25:11Like, when we had all those chickens last time, we were in the city.
25:13But that was a controlled environment.
25:15If we're going to have chickens here, out there, there's predators out there.
25:21There's coyotes, foxes.
25:23There's raccoons.
25:24Okay.
25:25And I understand that.
25:26I'm just doing it for real.
25:26I understand that.
25:27And, I mean, yeah, it was somewhat controlled, but there was issues because we had cars.
25:32I mean, our freaking chickens were jumping the fences.
25:34And do we have snakes?
25:35That's their own.
25:36We had snakes.
25:37I will support y'all a thousand percent, but I don't touch the chickens.
25:41I don't touch anything.
25:42You don't have to touch the chickens.
25:44You can't even touch them.
25:45I just go by and blow grass on them.
25:48But you are going to help build the coop.
25:51Yeah.
25:52Because I will be at work.
25:53I'm not building this coop because when the tyrants and the predators force their way into
26:02this house of feathered flock of chickens and a massacre happens, they're going to be like,
26:09you didn't build it good enough.
26:11And trust me, he ain't going to be able to sit back and just let y'all do the coop.
26:16He's going to be out there making sure.
26:17He's going to be like, do this.
26:18Yep.
26:19He's going to be making sure.
26:20Making sure you have all the tools.
26:22Making sure that it's getting done right.
26:25All this.
26:34Hi.
26:34Hi, guys.
26:35Come on in.
26:37How are you?
26:38Good.
26:38How are you?
26:39Besides it being a little wet today.
26:40It is wet.
26:41How are you, Lizzie?
26:42Hey, Emily.
26:44Mary Virginia happens to be the same baker that did Layton's first birthday cake and cookies.
26:50So let's see if she can do a bass fish cake for Bryce's groomsman cake for the wedding.
26:56Tell me what it is that you're looking for today.
26:59So her father, my soon-to-be husband, he's just a nice Southern gentleman, but he loves
27:06to hunt.
27:06He loves to fish.
27:08He loves football.
27:09He loves baseball.
27:10But more besides loving this one and me a lot, he loves fishing.
27:15So I'm thinking like a fishing thing cake.
27:18I am not all for, you know, the pressure of having camo being incorporated into the tuxes.
27:26So instead, I will be putting some camo into Bryce's grooms cake.
27:32And I don't mind a little camo on that because it gets eaten and then you no longer see it.
27:36Wait, there's sugar.
27:38Oh.
27:39The flowers are all sugar.
27:41So she can't play with them.
27:44I'm sorry.
27:45That's okay.
27:46That's very good though.
27:48Thanks.
27:49Layton just loves flowers.
27:51And I'm not sitting here thinking she's got edible flowers on display.
27:55I thought the flowers on the wall were real.
27:57And so Layton was reaching everyone.
27:58I'm like, oh yeah, she loves flowers.
27:59And Miss Virginia was like, oh no, she can't touch those flowers.
28:03And I was like, oh, why?
28:05And because that's a verse.
28:07Normally they're like, oh yeah.
28:07She's like, those are sugar flowers.
28:09They're not real.
28:09And we're like.
28:11Easy.
28:12Layton.
28:12Layton.
28:14Would you like a flower?
28:15Look, she's a flower.
28:17Layton.
28:18I got you a flower.
28:20Ooh.
28:21Say thank you.
28:24Maybe.
28:26There you go.
28:27That's a big flower.
28:29And then me and Emma were like, we're like playing that game show.
28:32Like, is it cake?
28:33And so we're like, is the default cake?
28:35Because they were beautiful and so realistic.
28:39But that was amazing.
28:41So what we've got left to right is the lemon raspberry with the vanilla bean cake.
28:46Okay.
28:47The almond, the red velvet, the spice cake with the pumpkin mascarpone, and on the end is chocolate
28:54chocolate.
28:55Gotcha.
28:57Oh, we'll have our cake and eat it.
29:00Oh, we'll have our cake and eat it.
29:04That one's good.
29:05I'm excited about this next one.
29:10I don't think Bryce would like that one just because it's too plain for Bryce.
29:13I know.
29:14The velvet cake.
29:16I'm personally not a big red velvet fan.
29:19It's just kind of...
29:22I'm interested about this one.
29:24This is more like the fall time flavor.
29:26Yeah.
29:28Definitely not feeling the pumpkin.
29:30We're not at Thanksgiving, so this cake can't feel like we're at Thanksgiving dinner.
29:33I'm pretty sure Dad's greens and cake was chocolate, all chocolate.
29:36Oh, we'll have our cake and eat it.
29:39Let's change it.
29:40Let's change it.
29:41Let's change it.
29:41Let's change it.
29:42Let's change it.
29:43What are you doing?
29:44Are you trying to poo-poo?
29:46We've got to clean this up.
29:48Are you trying to poop?
29:50Yeah, maybe.
29:53I think Layton was trying to work out a poop with the cake tasting.
29:57We grabbed some breakfast before we came because my girl's got to eat.
30:00So I think she was trying to figure out, you know, working out a poop or letting out some
30:03toots, but she was breaking it down.
30:05She had to do her thing.
30:07I think it's between the raspberry and the chocolate.
30:10That's what I was thinking.
30:10Yeah, that's what you were thinking too for him.
30:12I know.
30:12All right, Layton, this is where I need you.
30:14You're more like your dad than anything.
30:17All right, Layton.
30:18You need to try.
30:20You want to bite?
30:21Want to bite?
30:24I'm so surprised that Layton was not wanting to try any of the cake because normally she loves
30:30this kind of cake thanks to this one.
30:33She's the one that feeds her all the bad stuff or the stuff that I like.
30:37She needs small enough.
30:37Not the bad stuff.
30:38Not horrible, but like Layton, you want to try a little cat cake?
30:41You want a little muffin?
30:42I really think, I think it's going to be this one.
30:45The lemon raspberry.
30:46Yeah.
30:47The lemon raspberry with the vanilla.
30:49What do you think?
30:51I think we nailed down the winner, the lemon raspberry.
30:55Okay.
30:55She even said that's more of Bryce's liking.
30:58So since we are finished with, you know, designing the groom's cake, I am super excited, but also
31:04a little nervous about how this cake will turn out because the groom's cake is just another
31:09added expense and I hope it turns out okay and is worth the money.
31:14I think he will definitely enjoy it and besides that, as long as you can have it ready by November
31:218th.
31:21I will have it ready and there.
31:24Oh darling, brush up with energy, we're getting our kicks for free.
31:37How many chicken coops are there?
31:39It's just one.
31:41It turns out I lost this chicken argument, so now I am helping the kids build this chicken
31:47coop.
31:48I knew he would get invested.
31:51I definitely think that piece goes over here and this piece goes over there.
31:54I'm not saying that instructions have been missed, but I did scroll back through the instructions
31:57and I don't know if one of the panels were twisted or backwards.
32:03The two, we'll call it the runner panels, there was a back and forth there for a minute.
32:14No, line it on the inside.
32:15Oh my god, you have it facing out the wrong way.
32:18So in the beginning when y'all started this project and you unboxed everything, like who
32:22was captain, who was the helpers?
32:28We really didn't discuss that.
32:30Were we supposed to discuss that?
32:31I think, so we, by the looks of it, we're reinforcing this thing because we're missing parts.
32:37So I'm assuming is it going to be as sturdy as we want it to protect these chickens from
32:43predators or are we going to have an issue?
32:46Um, to answer your questions, there's going to be predators, whether they can get to them
32:50or not.
32:51But I also don't know, I don't have a chicken degree, so I don't know if the chickens are
32:55going to like stress and die from like a coyote running around outside that pen.
33:00We're just saying, you know, if you guys know some things about chickens.
33:04Fried chicken or grilled chicken?
33:06How many toes does a chicken have?
33:09Five.
33:10One, two, three, four.
33:12Four.
33:13So what is a group of chickens called?
33:15A cluster.
33:17A flock.
33:19Can chickens fly?
33:21Like in the sky?
33:23Like all the way up?
33:25Hmm, no.
33:27Well, it depends on what you're, what you're talking about, but yeah.
33:31They can elevate.
33:32They can elevate and go a little bit.
33:34And like your bigger chickens, yeah, because we used to have to clip their wings.
33:38Do chickens dream?
33:40No.
33:41Yes.
33:42And what do your chickens dream about?
33:44Eggs.
33:45Laying eggs.
33:47Laying eggs.
33:49Set it down.
33:54I'm excited for chickens.
33:55Are you dead?
33:56Come on.
33:58Do you hear the coyote?
34:00Can you see the whole thing?
34:04Yeah.
34:06You can put rocks around there and predators will dig those rocks out of there.
34:09They'll flip them out with their paws.
34:11That's supposed to be staked down anyways.
34:15That wouldn't hurt.
34:15But then again, you want to be able to move this around a little bit?
34:18We have a whole lot going on preparing for this wedding.
34:21I mean, we have projects after projects after projects.
34:24And some of these projects are significantly big.
34:27So like randomly parachuting in this chicken hobby, I'm not against it, but maybe the timing
34:36is just not right.
34:38You just pull the stakes up.
34:42That's going to require me every time.
34:46Well, you said yes to this.
34:47I did not say yes to this.
34:49Oh, well, you didn't say no, so.
34:53I said resistance.
35:02Night-night.
35:04What do you have?
35:05Yeah.
35:06We're going to rip pearls off your veil.
35:09And this is not my veil.
35:10Let's not use the words rip.
35:12Okay.
35:12Let's say we're going to take them off.
35:15We're going to take them off to work on the veil.
35:16This is obviously not going to be my veil.
35:18This was just length-wise.
35:20Probably not.
35:21Because I don't want whatever really long veils are called, whatever really short veils are
35:25called.
35:26Oh, yeah.
35:27I don't want layered.
35:28The bottom layer.
35:29It's not going to be layered stuff like this.
35:30No, I know.
35:31But that's the length you need to go with.
35:32It's going to be one single piece.
35:34It's more going to be kind of like this.
35:35How this is just very light and stuff.
35:37Yeah.
35:38Ow.
35:39Ow.
35:39Well, I'm looking to see if it, if, yeah.
35:42That bottom.
35:43Bottom layer.
35:44But also, we're mainly doing the pearls.
35:46But you're going to go get the dress.
35:47The plan for the veil and the hairpiece is I found a designer that makes hairpieces and
35:55veils, turns out.
35:56And pretty much, I'm going to be removing some pearls off my mom's wedding dress.
36:01So I will say I do like that yours is more like pearls.
36:05I do like that more than like just the sparkle.
36:07Sparkle.
36:08As tradition, you're supposed to wear something old, something new, that whole shebang.
36:13And I figured my something old and kind of something borrowed is me making the hairpiece
36:20for mom's wedding dress.
36:22I would take more than what you, you think, because that way she has plenty.
36:31I am.
36:32I just take them from the bottom.
36:33I don't want to necessarily just take it from the front.
36:35That's the thing.
36:36I don't have, yeah, these are just different size round ones on the bottom.
36:40Yeah, but that's why we're taking more from the bottom than the top, because I don't want
36:44to take a lot.
36:47But you're not going to be sad or regret me doing this, because I'm doing this for Emma
36:50too.
36:51I'll definitely have to add a little bit more sparkle to the veil, my wedding, but I'm
36:57not thinking about that right now.
37:00You've got a couple of years.
37:00Not a couple of years.
37:03Decades.
37:04Yeah.
37:05So we went, you know, did the suits, should have brought you for that?
37:08Should have known having Jonah and dad.
37:10Your wedding.
37:11It's not your mother's wedding.
37:12Yeah, but that's your husband and your son.
37:15They made the most havoc.
37:17They happened to be your brother and your father.
37:21Yeah, but you were the one that you found your, you found the father and you birthed the
37:25son.
37:26I just happened to come along at a happier time, apparently.
37:29Um, so I should have left them and just FaceTimed them because dad was making it very stressful
37:36and Jonah was too.
37:38We get to the damn suit shop and I have Tweedledee and Tweedledum with me, AKA Boppa and Jonah.
37:44I should have left their asses at home because then the camo came into play and then the honorary
37:50stubborn, oh, they made me so mad that day of them saying, it's fine.
37:56It looks good.
37:57It's Bryce's wedding too.
37:58It's great.
38:00No.
38:00At the end of the day, no.
38:02So what'd you guys end up with?
38:04You know, the black suit jacket and the black pants, but they had camo selection thinking
38:08that was so funny, white camo and dad was egging them on and sorry, it may be some people's
38:14taste, but not ours and our wedding pictures to look back on.
38:18I don't want to look back on that, but you know how Jonah and dad like to egg and egg
38:22and egg.
38:22Elizabeth, he has to have a say too.
38:24Elizabeth Bryce needs to have a say.
38:25Bryce is having a wedding smack dab in deer season.
38:28God bless Chuck being there.
38:30He was like, if Bryce wants to wear the camo, save it for the reception, the ceremony,
38:35it needs to be traditional.
38:36And I was like, oh, thank God.
38:37Bryce and the camo vest.
38:39I mean, okay.
38:40Yeah, we know Bryce is all about hunting and fishing, but that camo, it's just really
38:48tacky.
38:49And I feel like we've, we've put enough hunting and fishing in this whole engagement wedding.
38:56I mean, we're having the wedding outside for God's sake.
38:58Like we're having it down where he hunts.
39:01We're having it during hunting season.
39:05I think we're, you know, crossing all the T's, dotting all the I's for Bryce's honey and
39:10fishing.
39:11Yeah.
39:11See that, that camo is so ugly.
39:13I know.
39:14See the white background.
39:15Ew.
39:16Hopefully Bryce will, will be too distracted.
39:19He won't ever change into the camo.
39:20No, I told the lady to cancel it.
39:21I saw the picture of the camo.
39:23Yeah.
39:23And that was ugly.
39:24I called the lady back.
39:25Camo.
39:25And I said, well, don't worry about camo.
39:27We're canceling that.
39:28We're not doing that.
39:29It doesn't surprise me that they canceled the camo order.
39:32I was expecting it to come anyways.
39:34We want to keep it classy.
39:37We want to keep it classy, unfortunately.
39:41It turns out the rental price, and since we have to rent four and buy three, they're actually
39:48not that far apart in price.
39:49All right, let me see how many.
39:50Which is great.
39:51But while I was on the phone with Stephanie, she gave me the phone back to Kim.
39:57Kim.
39:58To Miss Kim.
39:59Sorry, a lot of blonde ladies at that store.
40:01Miss Kim.
40:02And apparently my dress has been pushed further out.
40:06Oh, Lord.
40:07For delivery.
40:08What's the date now?
40:09Like, middle of October.
40:11Okay, well, that will not work.
40:14So the latest update on my dress was that it is now coming around, like, the middle of October.
40:21And our wedding is the first week of November, which is definitely not enough time for me to be able
40:27to get alterations done on the dress.
40:30So, yeah, I'm freaking out.
40:35Next time on Seven Little Johnstons.
40:38So this is the first time I've ever gotten chicken in a box where it's still alive.
40:42They look like gray balls.
40:46Wow, he's big.
40:47See if you can walk up and pick one up without it running.
40:53Too wide, too wide, too wide.
40:55You're going out too wide.
40:57Why not?
40:57I can't, he can't accept criticism, so I can't say anything bad about him.
41:01Stay with your partner.
41:02You hear that, buddy?
41:04Do you hear that?
41:07Gray's in station.
41:09Oh, my God.
41:11So Liz didn't want any stripper at her bachelorette party, but we have something up our sleeves.
41:20Oh, my God.
41:22There she is, right there.
