00:59So I've been wanting a tattoo for a while,

05:52My daughter's name is Layton.

05:53But we call Layton a lot of times Ladybug.

05:58But we spell it out with the first five of her letters.

06:06I wanted to get a ladybug tattoo for Layton because I love Layton a lot.

13:06She will always know how amazing you are, and we will always know that you'd do anything for her.

13:11As I prepared to take this next step in life, marrying Bryce, it wouldn't feel right without you by my

23:22But anyway, when we get back from San Diego,

23:26we really got to start with the wedding planning.

23:40So, speaking about San Diego, you know,

23:43obviously, Ashley's going with us.

23:47Her mom will be bringing her and she's going to fly out with us.

23:50But while we're out in San Diego,

23:52plan to do some, you know, off-site stuff.

23:56A lot of us want to go to the zoo.

24:00Alice is, like, all excited about it.

24:02Now that the family has grown up,

24:04we tackle conference a little bit different now.

24:07We still enjoy seeing all of our little people, friends,

24:10and catching up with them.

24:11But at the same time, we enjoy our family vacationing

24:16and exploring new cities every year.

24:19So, wedding planning.

24:20That's at the top of the list when we get back from San Diego.

24:23We got to go to San Diego and get back

24:25before we worry about everything else.

24:27Well, we pretty much worry about it all simultaneously.

24:30San Diego will be a lot of fun,

25:28There's sports going on,

25:30and we just meet a lot of new people.

25:40I mean, maybe?

25:41Anybody that you're eyeing or anybody that you've talked to.

25:45You know that's how me and Jonah met.

25:54all met at the Little People's Conference.

25:58Word of advice is it'll happen when it happens,

26:02and it'll happen when you least expect it.

26:05I think Ashley and the rest of the family wants to try to find someone.

26:11For me, more than, like, I want to, like, look and go find someone.

26:16I mean, if there's someone at conference and they come up to me, it happens.

26:21But I'm definitely happy just to hang out with the family,

26:27make new friends, see everyone.

27:49from her coming down here.

28:10Making, like, a care package for Nana.

28:21Today, we are making a care package for Nana

28:24before we leave town to our Little People's Conference.

28:27Books are now polished, too.

28:29Yes, because she, for some reason,

28:31is liking her nails painted since she's been at this place.

28:35When Mom was diagnosed with cancer several months back,

28:38she had a very large mass right between the shoulder blades.

28:41Um, after other further scans,

28:45it showed that it was metastatic cancer,

28:48and it had spread to her thyroid, her breast, both lungs.

28:52So, um, it had progressed significantly.

28:56And at the hospital, Nana, you know,

28:58had said to all the doctors that she does not want to treat it.

29:03She's just going to ride this thing out.

29:06You know, I think, deep down, Mom doesn't want to go through the illnesses

29:11that come along with the treatments.

29:14She says, I'm going to go out with dignity.

29:16All of the kids, they're old enough to understand what's going on,

29:19and they understand Nana's wishes to not treat the cancer.

29:23And, you know, I believe the entire family supports Nana's wishes,

29:28and we just, we hope and pray and wish for comfort for Nana.

29:32Um, and that's, that's all we can do.

29:35You know, obviously, she's not walking.

29:38She's not ambulatory at all.

29:39So now that she's at the nursing home,

29:41her most prevalent symptom is very, very, very high pain levels.

29:47So they are able to manage her pain and keep her comfortable.

29:53In general, there are times when we visit,

29:55and she's very tired and she's sleepy,

29:57and she doesn't want to socialize very much.

30:00And then there's times when...

30:03She's very snarky.

30:04You know, truthfully, we like to see that

30:06because we know that, you know, Nana's still there,

30:10and, um, and she's comfortable.

30:13And something like, something like that would look good.

30:15Yeah, we'll make it pretty.

30:19Oh, good, Laura. Y'all really gonna give her her scotch?

30:21In the middle? Yeah.

30:23And then there's some in the fridge.

30:30It wouldn't be a basket for Nana

30:33if it didn't have her favorite things.

30:38And this will be good for Nana's little friends

30:41at the nursing home.

31:27This afternoon, we are packing for Bryson Leighton's first conference.

31:42Look, she gets to wear anything.

31:45Are you sure everything's going to fit in one suitcase?

31:48I can always make anything fit in a suitcase.

31:51For seven days?

31:52When it comes to packing for any vacation,

31:54just having all of our clothes in one suitcase is easy,

31:59especially since we know that we have to bring a stroller

32:01and a car seat with us and her bed.

32:03So one suitcase instead of three suitcases with those three extra items,

32:08that'd be way too much.

32:09Are you ready to get your California on?

32:13You'll be a California girl.

32:14But this is also your first convention,

32:16so you get to kind of see a world like ours.

32:19Yeah.

32:20Normally, these kind of conventions,

32:21they bring a lot of little people out between, like,

32:231,500 to 2,000 little people that come.

32:26Good gosh.

32:27So, like, all around the world, pretty much.

32:30By going to a little people's conference,

32:32you see all types of little people.

32:34You see all types of families.

32:36The parents may be little people,

32:38and then their children are average size or vice versa.

32:40So I feel like it's just a good opportunity to have the exposure,

32:45just seeing how families can be made up so differently.

32:50I'm excited for Leighton to meet, like, LP Tots.

32:54I love seeing the babies and the toddlers and all the little kids.

32:59As an average height person going to my first LPA convention,

33:04I definitely will be a little nervous

33:08because I've never been to anything like this before,

33:10and I just don't want to feel left out.

33:13You know, with me being average and seeing all these little people,

33:16I know I got Elizabeth by my side.

33:18Just me being a tall person, just...

33:31I'm going to be asking Carol and Dacey to be my bridesmaids,

33:44and Dacey I met at the Orlando conference in 2018.

33:54You know, this is my first time going to California,

33:57so being around there on the coast over there,

34:00I'm like, yeah, I got to bring my fishing rods.

34:05because we already have a lot of stuff we're carrying.

34:07I drew the line at fishing poles

34:08because he would be way too focused on them damn fishing poles

34:11than anything else that we'd have,

34:13and I didn't need extra stuff.

34:19How do you think Leighton's going to do on this trip?

34:22She's a fabulous traveler.

34:24We know that.

34:24She does great when we're traveling.

34:26But her sleeping on me now, since she's so long,

34:29I'm not going to be able to get down in the airplane seat

34:32and hold her like this,

34:34because, oh, my God, my back would be .

34:36The last time we had flown together was in Puerto Rico,

34:40and she was less than half the size.

34:42So now I'm not going to be able to hold her as easy.

34:45When she was younger, she wasn't really too bad on planes.

34:49She would really just sleep the whole time.

34:51I mean, she has one nap a day now,

34:52and it's only a couple of hours.

34:53So she's probably going to be awake most of the time on the plane.

34:57So I'm sure me and Elizabeth are going to try our best

35:00to try to entertain her the whole flight to keep her happy.

35:06So we are ready for the morning.

35:30Tonight, Dad and I are visiting Nana at her nursing home,

35:34and we're going to drop her care package off

35:36before we leave for San Diego.

35:43So where Nana's nursing home is,

35:45there's not really any good cellular data,

35:47so there's just a lot of the technical difficulties involved.

35:51Yeah.

35:55She's already seen her blanket.

35:58It's beautiful.

36:45Given Nana's diagnosis and her state of health,

36:49it is unlikely that she will be here for the wedding.

36:52So we are all trying to emotionally prepare for that.

36:56They had brought her some 4th of July glasses.
