00:02Iran vowing retaliation after a dramatic U.S. naval strike and ship seizure, and it's now
00:08putting fragile talks on the brink. Video posted online by U.S. Central Command shows a U.S. Navy
00:15destroyer opening fire on an Iranian-linked cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman. The ship ignored
00:22warnings, so the Navy fired into the engine room, disabling it at sea. U.S. Marines then boarded
00:29the vessel and took control. It's now in American custody. Iran is calling it an act of piracy
00:35and warning a response is coming. In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said the ship tried
00:41to break a U.S. blockade and was stopped right in its tracks. All of this now puts planned talks
00:48in
00:48doubt. U.S. officials are heading to Pakistan for another round of negotiations, but Iran says there
00:54are no plans to show up. The ceasefire between the warring countries is set to expire on Wednesday,
01:00and the stakes are global. The Strait of Hormuz is effectively shut down again. Oil prices are
01:06climbing this morning, with crude jumping sharply as tankers stay out of the waterway. Here's Energy
01:12Secretary Chris Wright on CNN.
01:15It's not safe right now to go through the Strait of Hormuz, correct?
01:18That is correct.
01:19Okay. The president said, well, let me just follow up on that. When will it be?
01:25I think after a deal is reached. After a deal is reached. It won't be in the too distant future.
01:29People are ready to go. Ships are there. The United States put two warships through the Straits.
01:34We can open it one way or the other, but the best way to do it is to have an
01:39end to the conflict
01:40and a defanged and de-armed Iran.
01:44Separately, the Israeli military says it is investigating after this. An image surfaced of
01:51one of its soldiers smashing a statue of Jesus in southern Lebanon. The IDF calls the act serious
01:58and says those involved will face consequences.
