Gunman opens fire on tourists at Teotihuacan pyramids in Mexico, killing one

Mexican authorities launched an investigation to uncover the motives behind the attack, which took place just before noon local time.

00:00At least one person was killed on Monday when a gunman opened fire at the Teotihuacan Pyramids in Mexico,
00:07a key Aztec archaeological site, and one of the country's most popular tourist attractions.
00:13Authorities identified the victim who was fatally shot as a Canadian woman.
00:17Four others, including another Canadian national, were injured by gunshots,
00:23while two more sustained wounds from falls, all of whom were taken to hospital for treatment.
00:28Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand expressed her condolences to the families of the victims
00:33and called the incident a horrific act of gun violence.
00:38Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she was in touch with Canadian officials at the embassy
00:42and said her government would launch an investigation into the attack.
00:47Officials later shared that the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
00:52The Teotihuacan Pyramids are a series of massive structures on the outskirts of Mexico City,
00:56built by three different ancient civilizations that draw in around 2 million tourists a year.
