00:00He admitted that appointing Madison was a mistake, and he has apologised for it. He has
00:06tried to make the rest about process and officials, but he still hasn't answered the fundamental
00:12question why. But I think we know a big part of the answer, don't we? Donald Trump. This
00:20all comes back to the way the Prime Minister decided to approach his relationship with
00:24the President when he came back to office last year. Our party urged the Prime Minister to
00:30stand up to Trump, to stand together with our allies, to approach him from a position of
00:35strength, not weakness. But he chose the opposite course. He decided to try and appease Trump,
00:43to flatter Trump, to stroke Trump's ego and hope he'd be nice to us in return. Clearly,
00:51he thought Peter Mandelson was the man for that job. So that is it, the decision to try and
00:59curry favour with Trump instead of standing up to him. That is the original sin that has
01:06landed the Prime Minister and his Government in the mess they are in today. And has it
01:12worked? Absolutely not.
