00:00And over the weekend, just a stunning trade in the NFL.
00:03You do not see deals like the one that we saw between New York and Cincinnati.
00:08The Giants trade Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 10th overall pick straight up.
00:14That was the whole deal.
00:17And, man, the reactions are a little bit split.
00:20And sometimes, like, reactions will be split, but communities will be in sync.
00:26If, you know, the analytics, you know, side will say, whoa, bad deal.
00:32The just get me a good guy group will be like, awesome.
00:35Even that was kind of a little bit divided.
00:38There are some who champion just Dexter's undeniable talent level.
00:44There are others who are worried about his age and health coming, you know, off of an injured season.
00:50Some people talk about cost effectiveness, just being able to draft a player 10th overall.
00:55There are some valid questions, though, about who was going to be available for Cincinnati at 10.
01:01It wasn't a guarantee they were going to love their options in that spot.
01:05I think it was a guarantee they weren't going to get a player as good as Dexter Lawrence for this
01:11coming season at that spot.
01:13So let me ask you, Joe, if you had to pick a winner of this trade between the Giants and
01:20the Bengals, who would it be?
01:23Giants, absolutely.
01:24I mean, I think it's a no-brainer to me.
01:27And you look at Dexter Lawrence's productivity last year, it tailed off.
01:31And again, at times he looked, he didn't look interested.
01:35He looked like he was checked out.
01:36Didn't look like the same player that they drafted out of Clemson.
01:40And again, when you talk about the ability to get a top 10 pick in an upcoming draft, Kevin,
01:45with sitting at number five overall, that's phenomenal.
01:49I mean, John Harbaugh on this staff now potentially have the ability to draft a young player,
01:56whether it be offense or defense, and coach him up and now start a foundation.
02:01You have your quarterback in Jackson Dart.
02:04You hopefully have Malik Nabors coming back and rebounding from an ACL, a pure number one.
02:10Now you can fill out the roster according to team needs.
02:14So I think it's great for the Cincinnati Bengals.
02:17I don't know if Dexter Lawrence all of a sudden upgrades this defense to where we say they're going to
02:23compete for,
02:24you know, a North title based off of his, you know, addition to this roster.
02:30I just don't see that.
02:31They have multiple needs on the defensive side of the ball.
02:34And adding a veteran like this helps, but it's not like all of a sudden now they got Micah Parsons
02:40like Green Bay did last year.
02:41And this is the cherry on top.
02:44Yeah, I, man, Joe, I'm a little torn across the board, but I think if you had to pick a
02:55winner or a loser,
02:57the Giants, you're right, are the winner because Dexter Lawrence didn't want to be there and they would have paid
03:04him more.
03:05But this is a Giants team that needs to bring in talent.
03:10And yes, they're losing an incredible talent by getting rid of Dexter Lawrence.
03:14But I've pushed back on, you know, there's a lot of people believe since Harbaugh's there,
03:19there's teams, this team's just going to walk into 10, 11 wins.
03:22No problem.
03:22I don't agree with that.
03:24So I don't mind getting younger and cheaper with a 10th overall selection.
03:29So from that end of it, it does excite me.
