00:09Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're counting down our picks for the playable
00:13characters in video games who were not worth unlocking.

00:33The Lost, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth
00:40Roguelikes are an exercise in frustration at the best of times, but for the masochists
00:45who want to make this creepy cute one even harder, you can with this character.
00:49To unlock The Lost, you must first dive four times in a row with particular characters,
00:54and in incredibly specific ways.
01:03Isaac must die to a mola boom in Chapter 1.
01:06Magdalene has to be killed by her own bomb in Chapter 2.
01:09Judas must die for Mom.
01:11Lastly, Azaziel needs to die to Satan in his second phase.
01:14Your reward?
01:15Well, it's The Lost.
01:16While he has flight and several other perks, depending on the version, The Lost will die
01:20in one hit, so if you play as The Lost, expect to lose, well, lose more, I guess.
01:31Nuclear Throne
01:38Another roguelike unlockable character, Skeleton also has an absurdly specific unlock condition.
01:44Skeleton can only be found if you die while playing as Melting, another disappointing character,
01:49mind you, while you're inside a necromancer circle.
01:56When you die, you'll become Skeleton.
01:58You also go back to level one and lose all your mutations and start with only one HP.
02:03Oh, and Skeleton's unique skill, which we're putting in quotes here, means that there's
02:07a chance that you'll take one damage, which if you can't increase your health, means you'll
02:12of course die.
02:13Make no bones about it, this guy sucks.
02:22Lizard Man Soul Calibur 2
02:25Versus Lizard Man
02:26Check!
02:27The characters in Soul Calibur games are often pretty wild, and different regions have often
02:32featured different fighters.
02:33Europe and the Americas got Lizard Man.
02:36This generic reptilian fighter has a moveset that's a combo between Aeons, a fighter who is also often
02:42called Lizard Man, and Cassandras.
02:50And yeah, that'd be fine if you could just unlock this generic Lizard Man after an easy task.
02:55However, to get Lizard Man you need to beat every stage in Weapon Master mode,
02:59including the extra missions.
03:01The audacity of the developers to call this a reward? Like Lizard Man, it's absolutely cold-blooded.
03:12Zero Bayonetta
03:21In this fabulously over-the-top hack and slash game, if you complete every Alfheim chapter,
03:27you'll unlock Lost Chapter Angel Slayer.
03:29This gauntlet of 51 fights features increasingly difficult challenges,
03:33until you face off in a mirror match against Bayonetta herself.
03:37Your reward for completing this challenge is Zero, King of the Little Devils.
03:48Zero plays just like Bayonetta, except he'll die after only two hits.
03:52He's effectively a hard mode in the form of a new character.
03:55Technically, you can also unlock him with a cheat code and 5 million halos, but that's not really
04:01worth it either. At least the cutscenes during Zero's playthrough are funny enough, mainly because
04:05the camera's not actually designed for him.
04:13Cloud Strife Final Fantasy Tactics
04:16Hold on, put away the Buster Swords Final Fantasy fans out there, just hear us out, okay?
04:20Everybody loves Cloud, so the revelation that you can play as him in this tactical spin-off had us
04:25initially excited. But timing, as they say, is everything. Cloud is only unlocked after completing
04:32the Secrets Beneath Gouge side quest, in the game's fourth and last chapter. And sure, secret
04:37characters being introduced late into a game is par for the course. Except Cloud is recruited at level
04:421. So while leveling him up isn't technically impossible, it is extremely inconvenient. They fix it in
04:49later entries, but for this one, you're better off not using him or even unlocking him.
04:54Han Solo in Carbonite's LEGO Star Wars Series
05:02The LEGO games are famous for the absolutely ridiculous number of playable characters they have.
05:08One of the most absurd of these is Han Solo, but when he's frozen in Carbonite. In the older original
05:14trilogy and the complete saga games, this version of Han can be unlocked easily and is playable on
05:19certain levels. However, all he can actually do is hop around and he has no weapons nor special
05:30abilities. I mean, is it funny? Definitely. But the inability to do any damage at all is of course
05:36very disappointing. Thankfully, the Skywalker saga rectified this, allowing you to kick stormtroopers to the
05:41curb with an inanimate Han. However, the letdown continues since it costs an arm and a leg to unlock him.
05:50Tofu Resident Evil 2
06:00Despite being a horror franchise, the Resident Evil games have long featured some comedic elements.
06:05One of the funniest unlockable characters is in a mini-game from Resident Evil 2 called the Tofu
06:10Survivor. You see, in this mode, you play as a large animated chunk of Tofu. Yeah, I know. Surprise,
06:23surprise, right? Despite how silly it is, it's the hardest mission in the game since you've only got a
06:28knife and have to escape to a helicopter and are timed and ranked based on how well you actually do.
06:33While the remake makes unlocking the mode relatively easy, the original game had you complete any
06:39combination of six scenarios or the same one repeatedly with a flawless ranking every single
06:44time. I mean, it's a lot of effort for just some killer tofu.
07:03Now, there have been many bizarre musician cameos in video games,
07:09but this is perhaps the most underwhelming. If you defeat 15 opponents in slobber knocker mode with the
07:14Undertaker, you'll unlock Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit.
07:18It is the electric in this arena tonight! Who's fighting who?
07:22While the early 2000s were the height of the new metal band's popularity, it does seem like an odd
07:28choice, particularly since he's the weakest fighter in the roster. Most agree that it's probably a
07:33licensing agreement with the games, since Undertaker's theme song is the Limp Bizkit song rolling,
07:38and Durst also appears in several of their games that use the music.
07:47Pichu, Super Smash Bros. Melee
07:56The Super Smash Bros. roster becomes vast over time, but one of its second entries fighters is considered
08:03particularly bad. Pichu, the pre-evolution of Pokémon's mascot Pikachu, is unlocked after
08:08playing 200 versus matches, or else by beating the 37th event match.
08:19Pichu is one of the first clone or Echo Fighter characters in the series. It plays exactly like
08:25Pikachu, except with the added benefit of being lighter, and therefore more easily KO'd. But wait,
08:30Pichu's electric moves also damage itself, making him more easily KO'd. Good times.
08:35Given that it's just Pikachu, but worse, I mean, can you blame Smash fans who wish they've included
08:40another character instead?
08:55Before we continue, check out this single from Sound Mojo's Adia, Songs from Iran, reimagining Persian
09:02melodies as modern rock, metal, and pop songs. Check out the full track and album below.
09:21Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance
09:30Along with over-the-top finishing moves, Mortal Kombat features many wild character inclusions.
09:35The most disappointing of these is, of course, MoCap, who's just, well,
09:39the motion capture guy covered in sensors.
09:47He doesn't have any fatalities or unique moves. Is the character a nice tribute to one of the
09:52motion capture actors, Carlos Pesina? Sure, yeah. I mean, is it worth doing everything you need to
09:56do to unlock him? No, absolutely not. To get him, you need to beat Conquest Mode with every other
10:01character besides him. And all that effort and time for a subpar fighter in a goofy suit. Oh, joy.
10:07MoCap wins. Flawless victory.
10:12So, is there a disappointing unlockable game character you are disappointed that
10:16we've forgotten our list? Roll on down to the comments to tell us your favorites.
