New figures show a steep rise in shoplifting across London, alongside the lowest charge rate in the country compared with other police forces in England and Wales.

00:06There were almost 94,000 cases of shoplifting reported to the Metropolitan Police in 2024 and 2025.
00:13Just 6.5% reportedly resulted in a charge, the lowest rate for any police force in the country.
