00:01Selangor ruler Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah has suggested that the state postpone hosting this year's Malaysia Games due to the
00:09conflict in the Middle East.
00:11The ruler said the state's hosting of the multi-sport event from August 15th to 24th would incur considerable costs.
00:19He said that in the current economic situation, it would be more appropriate for the event to be postponed until
00:25the crisis in the Middle East is resolved and the Sha'alam Stadium is fully completed.
00:30He also decreed for this year's Sultan of Selangor Cup football match between Selangor and Singapore to be cancelled.
00:37Earlier this month, Youth and Sports Minister Dr. Taufik Johari said this year's SUKMA would be scaled down in light
00:44of the global energy crisis and ensuing economic impact.
00:48A total of 53 venues across nine districts in Selangor will be used for the competition, which is expected to
00:55feature 474 events across 37 sports.
