00:03hey everybody it's pajama life with our review of crime 101 the anniversary and DTF st. Louis
00:11let's go what do you see what do you feel feel this moment
00:42guys untraceable I came here to make your business proposition short to the same company for 11
00:49years your VP when it should be a partner with high-value items your company insurers I make
00:55them disappear so you're a thief guys you work for you think you're squeaky clean you're about
01:02to break every rule you've ever lived what makes this job different here comes a moment when you
01:07realize you don't have as much time as they thought you had hey everybody hey we're back
01:16it's Pijama Life and I'm Pijama that's David and that is Patrick say hi hey everybody all right
01:28let's hop in crime 101 Patrick what did you think well it's good to see the Marvel crew all get
01:35back
01:36together uh basically we had uh we had Thor we had Storm we had Dr. Banner not the Hulk but
01:44Dr. Banner
01:45and we also had one of the Eternals show up you know so here we are uh lots of talent
01:51you know for
01:52it was it was it was a not a bad crime movie it wasn't anything revelatory spectacular it felt like
01:58everybody was just getting a check which is cool I mean it was it was fine but it was it
02:04was just it
02:04was a good crime flick I mean it wasn't nothing spectacular but they had a lot of talent it was
02:09great to see you know some people kind of playing against type a little bit there you know Barry King
02:15I cannot pronounce his last name so forgive me Barry if you're watching this uh was good to see
02:21he's done the bad guy thing before and it was but he does you know kind of the anti-hero
02:26thing
02:27this is just straight up bad guy though so it was it was fun like Sid you know it was
02:32good popcorn
02:33night nothing spectacular you know six seven somewhere in the ballpark oh it was definitely
02:38there's passing grade but it wasn't spectacular yeah I agree I think it took longer to watch this movie
02:45than to read the novella I was like why is this taking so long it is long two hours and
02:5420 minutes
02:55I guess they wanted to get the paychecks for everybody because you got an Oscar winner uh three
03:02I think Oscar nominees and yeah I mean that's a that's a big budget talent movie and it was just
03:14okay
03:15uh I thought I I tried to watch it a second time I had to start in the middle because
03:21it was just too long
03:22and it was still an hour in and it was I mean I think the the couple of chase scenes
03:30there really
03:30wasn't a lot of like car chases that I would have expected I think it was trying to be like
03:38heat
03:38or you know some of those moves the Michael Mann kind of movies but I don't know if it got
03:45there but
03:46Halle Berry still beautiful at 59 uh Chris Hemsworth looking good even better as out of Thor costume
03:58um man what's his name just looks schlubby
04:03Mark Ruffalo he's just totally like look I ain't in Marvel no more I'm letting it all hang out
04:11that was part of the his stick though bad guy yeah lately shoved out but you know I thought it
04:20was
04:21an interesting ending I thought it was interesting um and refreshing um but I'm hoping that you know
04:33this one yeah you may have to watch it a couple times but it's pretty okay David what you think
04:40I well you know it's interesting I have to respectfully disagree with you guys I actually
04:45think this is the best Marvel's multiverse film I have seen and I don't know when what it's better
04:53than the cartoons it's better than than the the uh than the Captain America not Captain America the
05:02Captain Marvel movies this was an excellent multiverse flick I loved it Pat said it all but
05:08I mean what Pat took it as the way that the truth is it really was the multiverse I have
05:14no doubt about
05:15that it has to be just need Tom Hiddleston um no but in all seriousness I really like this I
05:23thought
05:23it was a I like the heist and the con aspect of it I've always loved those films I thought
05:29they
05:29the the actors did a wonderful job I loved the whole in this crazy rushed world that we're in and
05:37that we're seeing here with the LA traffic is kind of a the metaphor there um oh and that scene
05:44when
05:44it was upside down at the beginning that was beautiful but absolutely gorgeous how discombobulated
05:53everything feels for so many of us I mean now I saw this a couple of times so I'm getting
05:59deep into
06:00this one uh but I really enjoyed it I thought it was really well done um Barry was fantastic in
06:09his role
06:10as this villain uh just really brought the psychotic out I mean I just applaud that Nick
06:17Nolte in a small but pivotal role here I forgot about that yes yeah I did I was like that's
06:23Nick
06:23I was like is that Nick Nolte yeah I think he's been up for an Academy Awards at one point
06:29he's up there another one yeah yeah I was just waiting for him to say I've spoken um I'm missing
06:38to hear that voice that's a good deep cut from Amanda and the other star Jennifer Aniston's old
06:44boyfriend the true star of one of the most unheralded sci-fi movies of all time Space Camp
06:52with Joaquin Phoenix and Kate Capshaw as well Kelly Preston don't forget her so Tate Donovan in the
06:59role uh as an ultimate tool in this film oh who impressed me was his wife at the end his
07:09wife I was
07:10like yes I mean she got him all the way together she's still gonna marry him and get that and
07:18she's
07:18gonna get a better prenup deal now she better and get that payday she better but I enjoyed this man
07:25I thought this was really fun and uh I you know again now I watched it from the comfort of
07:32my home and
07:33I did have the luxury of watching a couple of times with family it was a winner to me I
07:38do think this
07:39was a good flick and it and honestly it really probably has been better than the Marvel multiverse
07:44movies that I've been watching so all right all right so it's two okays and a yay so definitely
07:53check out crime 101 definitely on the afternoon or rainy afternoon like all right up next I've been
08:02hearing about this movie so I thought we should check it out interesting flick called anniversary
08:09let's take a look mr it's lovely to meet you I almost forgot happy anniversary cheers to 25 years
08:24we're so grateful to have our kids here with us my greatest happiness in life is being your wife
08:36I wasn't sure if you'd remember me our son's new girlfriend a former student she's radical in her
08:43ideology it's all coming back the skillful way she evades questions you can pretend to be happy for me
08:49you couldn't bend her your way drives you insane what do you even know about this girl
08:57look around us she's messing with her heads we don't always know what our children are capable of
09:05regardless of what you think of me I don't want to be the reason things change in this family
09:10I think you know what's coming
09:17I mean this is so interesting oh my goodness I was just pleasantly surprised by this I didn't know
09:29what to expect but boy it like haunted me the whole night I was like oh my gosh this is
09:39scary in a
09:41way on two levels it was like one you got this sociopath who targets this family and then you got
09:51a complicit child in the mix
09:55then it's also this political movie about what happens when it's it's kind of what happens when
10:08someone in your family married someone whose political beliefs are so diametrically opposed to
10:15yours and how that then restructures the family dynamic it is creepy and scary and
10:29definitely well acted I mean not a piece of it was not well acted and the story is just so
10:38cool cool um and just so menacing and it's just like oh my gosh and that ending I was like
10:48man this is right that's parable of the scorpion and the frog
10:58is there david what'd you think oh I did enjoy this although there's a part of me as I'm watching
11:04this
11:05almost true too true to life kind of movie right right that's what's so unsettling about it yeah I
11:12there's a level of this that's just because you know again I mean the things over the last 10 years
11:18and it just seems to be worse you know holiday meals with you know friends and family that are
11:27probably now just fremenes uh it's tough but I do think Diane Lane everyone in this it was a chilling
11:34story it was a wonderfully done story love Kyle Chandler you know this is a guy who does have some
11:40pretty good talent uh and some good range so this was a win for me in that regard if the
11:46world was in a
11:47different place I'd enjoy it more yeah yeah I don't need to have too many instructional tools
11:53uh for uh how to get ready for the apocalypse but uh we are getting them and this is one
12:00of them but
12:01well done acting definitely a cautionary tale and um on on multiple levels and so definitely
12:12definitely check out anniversary on hulu but don't watch it before you go to bed
12:24all right up next finally one of the honest interesting stories on hbo max it's kind of like
12:33back to when they were telling different stories dtf st louis let's think of it
12:46what's dtf down to whoa
12:50we work together here yeah floyd was a colleague and a friend
13:01profile name rock solid because I feel like I'm a pretty dependable person
13:08you introduced him to dtf st louis your buddy's now dead I want to know more
13:13you always want to know more had you ever discussed leaving your husband
13:20no way jose wow wow that was weird
13:27no one's normal just looks that way from across the street
13:30no one I love you I love you I love you too
13:39uh pat what did you think of dtf st louis you know
13:46it's so uncomfortable I mean the whole show
13:51I mean I you know I I get I guess
13:56the or or or into the the era of let's make everything just
14:02ick because there's just it was just it wasn't so much it was just uncomfortable it was uncomfortable
14:07the way that they shot it the silences and stuff it didn't and I understand that is by design because
14:14it but it it it added to the story that man it was just and okay as someone who lives
14:23close to missouri
14:24missouri's not this weird all the time I'm just gonna tell you there's a lot of weird crap goes on
14:28yes
14:29but but you know first off he was in ozarks and now he's in this I mean I don't know
14:36if he's
14:36kind of digging into the the missouri weirdness which is fine I live in kansas I work in missouri uh
14:42so yeah I mean there's a lot of weird people here and you know it's always kind of the creepiness
14:49but
14:49the the the very uncomfortable feeling was just I mean it was great and it was really kind of
14:57awkward to watch david harvard especially considering his personal life that uh his own open marriage
15:05thing that he had going on and then doing a show like this oh I didn't know that I didn't
15:11know that
15:12yeah his his marriage or whatever his relationship fell apart because of that kind of thing so I don't
15:18know if before after during I mean art imitating life a bit there perhaps maybe life imitating art
15:26I don't know it was just really weird and it was I liked it but it was uncomfortable like you
15:35know and
15:35I guess that's what it was supposed to and just just maybe it was just the directorial style
15:40of the it it had to feel like the like some of the hbo shows where they did like you
15:44know the uh
15:46true detectives it had that kind of weird silence things a lot throughout it and I don't know if
15:53that's just something hbo is doing with their their let's make you uncomfortable series but maybe I don't
15:57know uh I liked it I don't know I want to watch it again but oh it was it was
16:04awkward so awkward yes
16:06well I I loved it I I just thought because here's what it's really about it's really about loneliness
16:15and the lengths that loneliness will take you to find connection and comfort with people and so
16:27especially men right now they say it's a male epidemic uh loneliness epidemic that's a whole
16:35nother discussion um but I think in our internet world we've lost connection to one another there's
16:45not community like there used to be you know you would say remember look at look at the old um
16:50shows
16:52where Al Bundy had his pack of friends and they went to the bowling alley and they went to the
16:58beer
16:58place and they had friends and then like happy days and like all these shows people had friends and
17:06people you went out with now people don't have that and so they're lonely they're sitting in their houses
17:12with all these these uh apps and are more lonely than ever and male mental health is at an all
17:20-time low
17:21i would think um but it's also you know there is a lot of freaky stuff going on in suburbs
17:28going on in
17:30cities going on on ranches in mountain towns in everywhere people are freaks and so but they're
17:41just you know it's people just don't admit it but i think jason bateman's character was so interesting
17:49because i think he was really searching for a friend and somebody to connect to because
17:56he couldn't connect with his spouse and he that summer just became this whirlwind of chaos
18:07at the end of the day he just had a really good friend but it's so hard for men to
18:15express that to
18:17one another without being oh no gay i'm not gay but you know but the i just thought it was
18:28so
18:28interesting because at the beginning you thought it was one thing and then by the end it's something
18:34completely different and i just thought that was just really interesting brilliant kind of writing
18:41david what'd you think well i well my first thought before i say what i think of the film is
18:46if you don't want to worry about things being too gay don't dance for another man in your tighty
18:52whities in the gym locker that is a very you lost me there brother you lost me there uh
19:02uh did you did you understand what it was going on there where he was trying to
19:09i know what he was trying to do if he was offering comfort but he got it all twisted
19:14i think he just very very much twisted up in his head well and but yeah i i do think
19:23this is
19:24uh you raise a couple of points and i think from a societal aspect i think this was a good
19:30mirror
19:31into what's going on uh middle america or the suburbs or whatever it's not as vanilla as anyone
19:38thinks that never has been that never has been but i think increasingly today with technology
19:47and for better or for worse and i do think in some respects for worse it has created certain levels
19:53of
19:54a disattachment loneliness and um a search for a dopamine high that um takes people out of some what
20:05would be a relatively healthy relationship you would have a healthy relationship with male friends
20:12you know in a in a non-sexual way healthy relationships between men and women spouses and
20:18you know insignificant others all of those things uh great actors uh don't ever want to watch it again
20:26i think if if you want to watch you know i think it's something as an as art you want
20:31to appreciate it
20:32and i have great respect for all the performers in there not my cup of tea did not enjoy it
20:40um
20:42you know i'm now in the suburbs and um my best watch out for key parties
20:50well i have to do that the uh the the best friend i've met so far in the in the
20:58um thing watch out
20:59for the right white rock thing i'll tell you about it afterwards all right you tell me about that later
21:04but the best friend i've met so far here in the suburbs is a golden retriever that also loves my
21:10dog
21:10but pretty i'm pretty safe all the way around on that guys but um yeah if you want to see
21:17something
21:17arty definitely there um but you know i'm looking for something a little bit more happy fun a little
21:26bit more escapeism right now not not my uh i'm not down i'm not down with dtf let's just say
21:35that
21:35well i think it's a interesting um and neither is baby grogu he's not
21:41down with it it is it's definitely an interesting head turner so but it's definitely not for kids so
21:50oh no it's definitely adult so definitely check out uh if you want something a little on the on the
22:00different wild side dtf st louis uh that is it for our reviews next week we're going to look at
22:08the
22:08keanu reeves movie uh directed by jonah hill outcome as well as uh we're going to go take a look
22:18at the
22:19season of the pit which was okay and uh we're going to look at um the movie dust bunny somebody
22:32turned me
22:33on to it so we're going to uh take a look at that so interesting um but you know it's
22:39kind of hard to
22:40find comedies right now
22:43perhaps to review so if you have suggestions about happy fun time movies please send them our way it's
22:52hard to find right now hoppers result of the political climate boy oh boy um but uh
23:01uh one thing good came out this week the uh rock and roll hall of fame inductees uh if you
23:10know you
23:10know sure day my favorite singer of all time is now a rock and roll hall of fame inductee as
23:20well as
23:21i think for the first time two other black women so there's three black women being inducted this year
23:27which is amazing queen latifah and mc light um which is incredible and then the big controversy that
23:37lauren hill was not inducted nor mariah carey was not inducted which i don't know how
23:47mariah carey doesn't get in so oh but um it was pretty cool to see that that is uh i
23:57think the
23:57positive news of the week there was so much other craziness uh maybe uh president trump will be
24:04nominated for his video um as journey maybe he's the news sorry sorry i just threw up my mouth a
24:15little
24:15bit okay crazy week david what you think all right hi you know there's so many things from this week
24:26don't stop believing is is certainly i'm not gonna be able to look at that one quite the same anymore
24:32hey everybody have a great week it is today was the the launch of the kentucky derby festival so every
24:40day
24:40between now and the first saturday of may we'll be doing something in the great commonwealth
24:44to honor our horse racing tradition with some of the slowest weirdest and most boring races
24:51that go on such as a steamboat race that staged a a hot air balloon race in tornadoes and the
25:00run for
25:01the rose where we'll see who is the fastest and best organized waiter in downtown louisville so we'll
25:08give you all the the uh heads up uh the updates on this is uh next week maybe david can
25:16tape it for
25:17us and we can watch it oh i gotta see the fireworks show and they got the fireworks show tonight
25:23the air
25:23show got kind of rained out today but we got a fireworks show tonight so we'll see what happens there
25:28all right pack say good night to the people good night everybody everybody uh stay safe and uh have ice
