00:00Hello and welcome to the last video of this year and this viewer special.
00:07Today I am reviewing Transformers the Video Game for the PlayStation 3.
00:12Now I personally don't have high hopes going into this game.
00:17Not only did the physical disc of the game arrive damaged with irreversible data loss on it,
00:24but it's also a licensed game to a movie which I personally don't think would translate well to a video
00:31game.
00:32But who knows? The developers of this game is Traveler's Tales.
00:36And while I might not be the biggest fan of all of their work, they do make great licensed video
00:43games.
00:51To begin, I think I should describe what this game is.
00:55But in order for me to describe it, I need to know what it's trying to be.
01:00And after playing this game for several hours now, I don't have a clear picture of what this game is
01:06trying to be.
01:07I can see elements of other games and genres in here from the open world sandbox like in Grand Theft
01:14Auto
01:14to driving games with races and checkpoints, to a destruction derby with fully destructible environments and enemies
01:21and a fighting game with potential for complex combos with weapons, guns and blocking.
01:30But it does everything just so, so poorly that I can't pin it on any one genre that it does
01:38well to label the whole game as its.
01:42Since the only thing that really describes this game is just a bland, generic action game.
01:49Playing the game is no better.
01:51The game is so dark that I can't see what I'm doing half the time.
01:54In the other half, I'm either fighting with the controls
01:56or playing one of the most blandest games that I often fail because I'm not paying attention.
02:03Apparently, when you're driving a car, if you use the analog stick, you're just going to crash into every wall.
02:08The D-pad is the real way to drive the vehicles.
02:15It's really sad to see since there clearly was effort put into this game.
02:21Like the fully destructible environment, which is a blast to destroy as a Decepticon.
02:27As well as the sound and the voice cast.
02:31That is the real cannibal Shia LaBeouf playing his poorly rendered self.
02:36I really did want to give this game a chance.
02:41I really did, especially with how much fun the last Transformers DS game I was recommended to play.
02:46But with the bugs, long loading times, bland missions, poor driving controls, and unpolished gameplay,
02:53this game is a textbook definition of a rushed license title.
02:57I feel Traveler's Tale did the best they could out of the time limit they were presumably given.
03:03But even then, this is still not worth picking up today.
03:08But anyways, thank you ever so much for watching.
03:12I hope you have yourself a good day.
03:14And as always, take care.
