00:00I mean, Marcus Freeman and the job that he has done,
00:03taking over for Brian Kelly,
00:04how impressed have you been with the recruits?
00:07How impressed have you been with, again, you know, Joe, I agree with you.
00:12We talked before about this.
00:13I think Notre Dame got job not going in to the college football playoff last
00:17year.
00:18I would have loved to have seen Miami and then play again in the playoff.
00:21But the job that Freeman has done as coach there in South Bend for you has
00:25been what?
00:28It's a delight, a thrill.
00:30A wonderment.
00:30I think he has created a culture there with those players at the university
00:35that is so special.
00:36I'm so glad he decided to stay and continue to coach at the University of
00:40Notre Dame.
00:41It's certainly a win-win for us.
00:43And I think it's a win-win for him because of the person he is.
00:46He's developing young men and he's building a heck of a football program.
00:49He has built a heck of a football program in a short period of time.
00:53The legacy that he's creating is incredible.
00:55And as far as last year goes, I didn't have, my problem was the timing of the
01:01selection to not have Notre Dame participate in the college football
01:04championships.
01:05Alabama did not belong.
01:07Miami, if they, if Miami and Notre Dame went, no problem.
01:11The fact that Miami went and they made such a late decision, that was a little bit of
01:15an issue.
01:15But the fact that you'd have a three-loss team get in and Alabama proved that they
01:19didn't belong to be there.
01:20So, you know, all things went well, but it did change something.
01:24It created a scenario.
01:25I believe that if Notre Dame is in the top 12 next year, they will sort of get an
01:30automatic bid to the championship.
01:32So, maybe something good came out of this mess that we saw in the college selection
01:37committee last year.
01:38But the other thing, Dan, that's so exciting is Notre Dame and Villanova are going to
01:43play, I believe, in Rome this year, coming up.
01:47Obviously, the Pope is a Chicago guy.
01:52I guess I feel so bad calling the Pope a guy.
01:57Sorry, I apologize.
01:59But, I mean, you know, he's a Villanova grad.
02:04And I think it's exciting that Notre Dame is going to be able to do it, and Villanova
02:09are going to be able to do that, I believe.
02:10And so, you know, being a part of the Notre Dame family is such a great honor.
02:16Absolutely.
02:17And I think you call him a guy because he's a White Sox fan.
02:20I mean, if you're a White Sox fan, I think you're a guy there.
02:23I guess I could do that then, yeah.
02:26I think there's going to be a lot of holy water going around there in Rome there
02:30between Nova and Notre Dame there.
02:35I think there's going to be a lot of holy water going around there.
