00:00NFL reporter Chrissy Freud was fired from USA Today after she publicly commented on the Diana
00:05Russini-Mike Rabel scandal. And now Freud is doubling down. Here's how it all played out.
00:12Russini resigned from The Athletic on Tuesday, April 14th, after pictures surfaced of her holding
00:17hands with New England Patriots head coach Mike Rabel. In response to the resignation letter,
00:23Freud tweeted, don't let the door hit you on the way out. She alleged Russini's relationships with
00:28coaches is the, quote, worst kept secret in the NFL. She also claimed Russini got into fights with
00:33other reporters in Chile's parking lots about her alleged extramarital affairs. USA Today then
00:40severed ties with Freud, who was an independent contractor. She responded to the news in a
00:45statement to Page Six saying, I want to say firstly that I do not regret anything that I said and
00:51that
00:51I stand behind the fact that it is all indeed true. I want to thank USA Today SMG for the
00:58incredible run
00:59I had there for about half of my life. It is deeply, deeply emotional to me that this relationship has
01:05come to an end and that my contract has been terminated because of this. I would never say
01:10anything I didn't stand behind because I know the potential consequences, even if a situation seems
01:15risky. Thank you to everyone who has supported me both before and after I released my statements.
01:20Freud is alleging a double standard. On X, she shared a USA Today article from columnist Nancy
01:26Armour titled, Diana Russini put credibility of all women in sports at risk. Freud called it
01:32incredibly interesting. She also shared on X an email from USA Today ahead of her firing, warning,
01:39much of the Russini conjecture is unverified and Freud's tweets were a serious issue for the company.
01:45In March, Russini and Vrabel, who were both married to other people, were spotted holding hands and
01:49hugging at a resort in Sedona, Arizona. They insist they're just friends. Amid the fallout, Freud left
01:56us with this message. Regardless of what happens to me in the future, I want to say something.
02:02Do not be afraid to potentially murder yourself for the right causes. I put myself out there in some
02:07respects in a way that was highly uncomfortable to me, but I thought it was worth doing. I am incredibly
02:12proud of everything I've accomplished, and I do walk away with my head held high.
