00:18into the show and shine competition they'll be judged on things like paint and body modifications
00:23custom interiors engine performance and wheel upgrades now of course this is um this is an
00:30event that attracts a lot of rev heads or a lot of people who are really interested in cars how
00:34many people are expected to attend the three-day event yeah look last year they had 60 000 people
00:39come that injected eight million dollars to the state economy uh and 13 million dollars to the
00:44state economy sorry eight million dollars just to the local economy we've been chatting to people and
00:48they've come from harvey bates woomba brisbane these cars behind me they have to have it all the way
00:52from brisbane which is about an eight hour drive we caught up with summer nats director andy lopez
00:56yesterday and he chatted about the fuel crisis but he said that hasn't been a concern for many
01:00people here's what he had to say the price of fuel isn't really a discussion with these guys it's
01:06and i don't mean this like flippantly but the fuel is the least expensive thing that they invest in
01:11their car it's uh for them they wanted to be here they have found their way to do it um
01:18they spend
01:18thousands and thousands of dollars on the carpet all their bikes but it's not measured in money
01:23what it's measured in is passion people work on it with their family their friends it's it's it's a
01:28it's a joyful thing that people do together it's not about the cash it's about these pieces of art
01:35and then actually going having fun with them yeah so and across today and tomorrow there'll be more
01:40burnout competitions we've got the drifting that happens just down the road and there's even things
01:44like off-grid entertainment like the rockabilly fashion parade a mullet competition tattoo competition
01:49live music so there's there's something for everybody
