00:00Yeah, but for a safe pick, it's a guy that, you know,
00:03will get taken in the first round and you will hear no questions like, yeah,
00:07that guy's going to fit. That guy is going to, there, there's no,
00:12on the draft grade, it's typically a high grade.
00:14It's somebody that's no risk on and off the field.
00:18And nobody embodies that to me more than Caleb Downs at Ohio state.
00:23I mean, when I was putting together this list,
00:24when you're considered arguably the best defensive player in college football
00:28for two years running and you guys know the X's and O's part more than I do
00:32when it comes to college football,
00:34I can just tell you that he looks like he's in the right place at the right
00:38time all the time at the, at a position where, you know,
00:42his high IQ matches the playmaking, the tackling.
00:45And one of the stats I dug up last night, I was,
00:48he only allowed 92 yards in coverage.
00:50So that means when somebody catches the ball, when he's in coverage,
00:53he doesn't allow them to run very far. So, I mean, just an all around talent.
00:56And I think he's the safest pick in this draft.
01:00I think it's hard just to kind of evaluate,
01:03not really hard to evaluate him,
01:04but I feel like not as many people are talking about him just because he's at
01:07a safety position where I guess it's not valued too much,
01:10especially like in a top 10 pick, people don't want to go out and get him too
01:13early. But I mean,
01:14do you see the other three Buckeyes that are kind of being talked about in that
01:16top 10 conversation being safe picks?
01:18Cause I feel like at least two of the three are very safe to be in the top 10.
01:22Nothing. Yeah. I, and safe as in you're,
01:25you know what you're going to get all four that will probably get taken in the
01:29first round, whether it's, you know,
01:31Sonny who on a conference call with Daniel Jeremiah the other day,
01:36they, somebody asked him, you know, what, who,
01:39which team would like Sonny styles. He said, all of them, you know,
01:42he fits in anywhere.
01:44And the way that with that skillset that he has between linebacker and safety,
01:49again, no risk, you know, he's,
01:51he played football since he was young kid that you'd heard.
01:55I had heard about Sonny styles before he was even in high school and living
01:59here in Pickerington.
02:00And just for him to have that work ethic and the ability,
02:03not only in football,
02:04but he was a fantastic basketball player too, by the way.
02:07And those highlights are amazing in a lot of ways,
02:11but I think McDonald's a safe pick because you've got a defensive tackle that
02:15disrupts the interior and Cornell is probably the one that I've said this for
02:20a month and you guys can laugh at me if you want the 40 time with him.
02:25Anybody that's run a sprint in their life knows he just stumbled a little bit
02:28at the combine. His 40 times fine.
02:30He's going to produce and he comes from a pipeline of Ohio state receivers.
02:34So all four of those guys are safe.
02:36I just think Caleb sticks out to me a little bit more as a guy that I could see
02:4010 years from now,
02:41we're talking about seven or eight pro bowls for all pro selections.
02:45And just an elite player at the position for a very long time.
02:49You know,
02:49it's funny though,
02:50because everybody diminishes the safety position because they say it's not a
02:53position of value,
02:54but you're like,
02:54if you could get a guy who gives you Eric Weddle type production for like a
02:59decade, you're like, well,
03:00would you rather have that or maybe a position that might have more value,
03:05but there might be more uncertainty on to the quality of the player you're
03:08potentially getting or the certainty of what that could be.
03:11Cause I think everybody's pretty certain that Caleb downs,
03:14that's your point.
03:15Maybe the safest guy in the draft is going at minimum is going to be a really
03:19good starter.
03:20And that's a pretty nice floor to begin with.
