00:03Money Train here, FutureX TV, Anime Expo 218, and I'm here with a great people called Cosplay,
00:08Anarche, so spell your name so they would know how to get that on there.
00:12A-N-A-R-K-E-E.
00:15Cosplay, right?
00:15Yeah.
00:16Exactly.
00:16Now you're doing some press stuff too, but how has this Anime Expo been for you for this
00:21year?
00:21How has it been?
00:22It's been a little weird.
00:24Everything's changed as far as the way you enter with having to scan your badge.
00:30It's jumping to Star Trek time now, you know what I mean?
00:32They were trying a little about this, experimenting in WonderCon L.A. when they were here, but
00:37now it's much more elevated, you know what I mean?
00:40Yeah.
00:40You have to swipe in and swipe out like this, you know?
00:42They did that at VidCon too.
00:44Okay.
00:45And it kind of caused a lot of crowds, like I can see it's kind of doing that now.
00:49Do you think it kind of hurts to give my pass to somebody and they kind of walk in?
00:54Oh yeah, no, we were talking about that.
00:55I think it worked better at VidCon because you had to have a wristband and a pass.
00:59So you couldn't give your pass to somebody, like you could give your pass to somebody
01:02else but you would need both to get in.
01:04Yeah.
01:04I don't know.
01:05I just think it's very interesting.
01:07But I've been having a lot of fun.
01:09Tell me what your outfit is.
01:11I have no absolute idea what I'm wearing today.
01:13I just, this is a Sailor Moon themed outfit.
01:18I don't know what this is.
01:22You just killed it so hard.
01:24You know, you let your pass tell you what it is.
01:28It's basically like just a conglomeration of trying to make a Sailor Moon outfit but then...
01:33With the golf boots.
01:35With the golf boots.
01:36With the golf boots.
01:36With the golf boots.
01:37It's a high wind though.
01:38It's a high wind, you know.
01:41More like that stuff.
01:42But I think, well you could say pre-steampunk or something like that too.
01:46And stuff like that, you know.
01:47But when you're doing the cosplay, are people when you post stuff, are they like strict,
01:53strict, oh you should have that boots, you should have that dress, or do they allow you the flexibility
01:58to be able to play with it and say, hey I'm doing some different stuff?
02:01I get a lot of flexibility.
02:03The only, I've gotten like two weird comments in the past couple of days.
02:07One of them, I did a Harley Quinn cosplay.
02:09And I had a post, like a little, I don't know what they're actually called, but the thing you hold
02:13up when you're in jail.
02:15Like that says your name and like a serial number.
02:17And I wrote Gotham City Police Department.
02:18Oh you mean the block, what is it?
02:20Yeah, the block you hold up when you're getting arrested.
02:23It said Gotham City Police Department and some guy was like, it should say GCPD.
02:26And I was like, I just wanted to write it out, I'm sorry.
02:31And then someone else also commented on that cosplay because I wore it here.
02:35They were like, you wore a comic cosplay to an anime convention?
02:38What's wrong with you?
02:38And I was just like, have you ever been to one of these?
02:41See, the funny thing about when you go to one big on a Comic Con, nobody asks people to do
02:46it.
02:46They can't do anime like that, you know what I mean?
02:48But when I'm at Anime Expo, are they more very like, you need to be doing something that's to the
02:54anime program?
02:54I don't think so. That's the only time I've gotten a comment like that and I thought he was kind
02:57of weird.
02:58Like, you see people all around that are doing cosplays that aren't anime and that are really good.
03:03Like I've seen a lot of Disney characters.
03:05Like just purely Disney characters.
03:06I've seen a lot of comic book characters.
03:09There's some of the interchangeable stuff now. Everything is so big cultural.
03:12It's more just like pop culture than it is strictly anime. You know?
03:16That's why I thought that was kind of weird.
03:18But yeah, no, my followers tend to accept that I'll just kind of do whatever I want when I cosplay.
03:22Like if I think the character would wear it, I'll wear it.
03:25My last question is, when you're doing cosplay and you're a person of color, do people think, because I know
03:30there's some tension sometimes where you may be doing, say at the moment, a quote unquote white anime, me-gaming
03:37blog site like that, is not putting people of color on there.
03:41Do you feel that or do you think it's getting better?
03:44Actually, since I've started doing cosplay more seriously, I have not gotten a single comment about the color of my
03:49skin. Ever.
03:50If anything, it's more, I was Kairi from Kingdom Hearts two days ago.
03:55Tons of, oh my god, yay, a black Kairi, I didn't know I needed this.
03:59Not a single comment about, wait, she's not dark skinned or anything like that.
04:03If any, people either didn't care and just said, I look, I did deter her justice, or they were like,
04:08yay, I'm happy you are black and are doing this.
04:10I didn't get a single, you can't do this because you're black.
04:12Well, I wouldn't say that, I would say, do you think that you are getting picked up by, I guess,
04:17the regular blogs from these other anime Twitter accounts, stuff like that?
04:21Do you think that you're getting picked up on that side, you know, just random, random other anime people who
04:27you're supporting, you know?
04:28Not just people of color anime sites, but just regular.
04:31Like, if I just typed your name in and just put it in cosplay, you know what I mean?
04:34Yeah.
04:34Would you still get the same type of love, I guess I'm saying?
04:37I think so, I think so. I've gotten a lot of love from doing, um, I've only started doing cosplay
04:42series.
04:42Seriously, I want to say this year.
04:44I've kind of dabbled in it before, this is my first serious venture into doing cosplays regularly.
04:49And I've gotten a lot of praise and a lot of love from traditional people and newer sites.
04:55I don't think I've, yeah, I don't think it really matters anymore.
04:58I don't think many people care anymore.
05:01Because now people are like, if I'm going to cosplay a character, I'm going to cosplay.
05:04I mean, look, I used to start going here since 2000, I was dating myself since 2011.
05:09And I could probably, like, hunt down the people of color who were doing...
05:13I got one guy!
05:15No, just find out what that was.
05:16Now, it's everywhere.
05:18Yeah.
05:18It's literally, you could be 20 people in front of you, you know what I mean?
05:21And stuff like that.
05:22So, it's ubiquitous.
05:23Well, that's it.
05:24You got a question, Brandon?
05:25Anything you want to ask?
05:27FutureXTV.
05:28TheDarkRoom.com.
05:29Coming back strong.
05:30I'm at FutureFXMedicap.
05:32Money trainer.
05:33Anime Expo.
05:34Anarchy?
05:34Yeah.
05:35Anarchy, yeah.
05:36Anarchy.
05:37Out.
05:38Okay.
05:38Money out.
05:39Peace.
05:41And those boots.
05:43No.
05:45I don't know how to post.
05:46That's all right.
05:47Turn over here.
05:48So, you know.
05:48There's one thing the dark skin does.
05:50Yeah, we need the light.
05:51There we go.
05:52Look at those boots.
05:54My goodness.
05:55And she do turn into a rave.
05:56You're like, hello.
05:57And then, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
06:00Thank you very much.
