00:00Just say your names and where can people find you, okay?
00:04Well, I'm Adam. You can find me on adamisgolden on Instagram.
00:08My name is Mia. You can find me at ggcosplays on Instagram.
00:12Tell people what you're wearing. Tell me what you're doing.
00:13I'm wearing a Sansi Muramasa cosplay. I didn't make anything myself, but I styled the wig and I like it.
00:23My cosplay is from Little Butler from Steven Universe. It's a little butler costume that I bought.
00:29Does it make it easier for a costume because you can buy the costume?
00:33Yeah. As opposed to like you had to stay up all night and sew that and do that.
00:37Well, now it's just one Amazon Prime click away and you are ready to go.
00:41Yeah, exactly. Because if you're new to cosplay, it's a lot harder to sew things yourself or superglue.
00:47It's like a lot less risk of making it wrong or messing up.
00:52And so being satisfied with the result is better.
00:54I would think if you have the costume, at least you can enhance it once you already have a suit
00:58and stuff like that.
01:00Now when you guys are here, are you saying, I'm looking for more people of color cosplay?
01:05Or are you thinking to stand out? What do you guys think?
01:07Because I've seen a lot more people in the Anime Expo of color than I normally would have.
01:11It's the exact same. I like it a lot to see a lot of more colored people, like people of
01:15color, whether you're Asian, Black, Mexican, anything.
01:19I like it a lot because you can feel more immersed in the culture of Japanese anime and all this
01:25stuff.
01:26Japanese culture, anime, all the more inclusive things.
01:31Now I've seen people, now we've had people get called for barbecues, wrong pool, Black people can't sleep in their
01:38dorms and stuff like that.
01:40Now if you were walking somewhere in cosplay and somebody checked you and called and said,
01:44well you can't wear that costume because they doesn't match that, what do you think about correctivity and stuff like
01:49that?
01:52Cosplay is fun, it's really fun, not all about correctness.
01:56There's a lot of diversity already in the cosplay community. 51% of the cosplay community are colored.
02:02Wow.
02:03And that's a fact. Like, Google it.
02:07If I don't Google it, I guess I know where else to go for it, something like this, you know?
02:13And who is that? Have you seen that?
02:15Oh, this is my cousin.
02:17She's just holding stuff.
02:18Yeah, she's on her backpack for today.
02:20Backpack.
02:20Backpack patrol, okay, I got you.
02:22They didn't even get you a costume, they just got you a nice shirt and stuff.
02:25That's what you're telling me.
02:26It was yesterday, actually.
02:26She had her own OC costume.
02:29It was really pretty, I liked it a lot.
02:30But today, she's more going more casual because it's kind of hot.
02:33It's more...
02:33Girl, I couldn't even...
02:35When they said it was going to be 112, I wasn't even showing up.
02:38So, how bad was it?
02:40I mean, did you have to be in costume and get in here?
02:42Or how bad was the heat just getting in here?
02:45That was very hot.
02:46I was in a two-hour line yesterday.
02:47Yeah.
02:48Outside.
02:48It was only humid because of sweat.
02:50Are you kidding me?
02:51Two hours just to get in or just two hours to check in?
02:54Two hours just like outside.
02:56Yeah, just to get into actual pain when you want to go to, yeah.
02:58I mean, so I know a lot of people have to be like, my God, my God.
03:02I have to go right to the restroom and make sure everything...
03:04Yeah, someone passed out yesterday.
03:05Someone passed out?
03:06Yeah.
03:07Wow.
03:07What, were they wearing something dark or something?
03:09I think it might have been once I was really happy.
03:11Like, a lot of fur or a lot of layers.
03:13Lots of air-sealed outfits.
03:16But not just like, it's too bad, it's too much.
03:18Yeah.
03:18So, when you guys are out here, are you guys thinking, okay, every day I need you something
03:22different?
03:22Or are you thinking, I just need to perfect what I got going on today?
03:25Or how do you look at it like that?
03:27Is it a challenge?
03:28I think, well, for us, what we did, we got a coordinator hospital.
03:32So, on the first day, he was Natsu and I was happy.
03:35And then for the next past few days, we were the butler, kind of, butler maid type thing.
03:39And then the last day, it's more like a free-for-all.
03:41Do what you want, have fun.
03:42That's the last day.
03:43We have to enjoy it.
03:44Like, tomorrow, you guys will be this or you will be something else?
03:46I'm going to be different, yeah.
03:47You'll be different?
03:48Yeah.
03:48That's a good thing, too, because you have multiple days.
03:50You can have multiple times and stuff like that, you know?
03:53Exactly.
03:53Yeah, that's important cost me.
03:54Just have fun.
03:55Exactly.
03:55Just to play around and meet people.
03:58Meet people as nerdy as you are.
04:00As integrated as you are.
04:01So, it's fun.
04:02Now, I hate to say, I'm dating myself.
04:04I went to Anime Expo in 2011.
04:06It was like, okay, you could just literally walk off the street and come here and just,
04:11excuse me, sorry, and just film everybody in the lobby.
04:13You'd have to check in and stuff like that.
04:14But now, it has really jumped up to a big Comic-Con type status.
04:18You know what I mean?
04:19And I appreciate that, too, because it keeps everyone safe.
04:22Who wants to go here for fun, to express themselves.
04:25It keeps everyone in the enclosure seat.
04:27People on the outside can't come in and, like, ignore it.
04:30You've got to be serious about it.
04:32It really is.
04:33Yeah, exactly.
04:33No, because by the time you see them lines now, you realize, oh, this ain't just like,
04:36you have to be a partner.
04:37No.
04:37It's a big group of clients all over the place.
04:40So, yeah.
04:41It's a big deal.
04:42What are you guys next?
04:43What are you guys going through next?
04:44I know the year's only start done.
04:45What are you guys trying to go through next and stuff?
04:48DragonCon or, you know, anything?
04:50I like WonderCon.
04:51Yeah, he has WonderCon.
04:52I actually haven't been to any other con besides Anime Expo, but I'm planning on going
04:56to for cons that I'm supposed to be.
04:58Well, see, the good thing is that you actually went to Comic-Con San Diego, even if you didn't
05:01have a ticket, you can just walk outside around and just see a lot of people with costumes
05:06on and stuff like that, you know?
05:07And, I mean, I went to WonderCon just to have just to have just in May and stuff like that,
05:11you know?
05:11It's another great one of the stuff.
05:12I mean, New York Comic-Con is good.
05:14It comes up in October and stuff.
05:15I mean, there's a lot of people who go for that and stuff, you know?
05:17DragonCon is in Labor Day weekend and stuff like that.
05:20Alright.
05:20But, yeah, but even if you're at Comic-Con in San Diego, even if you don't have a pass
05:24to get in, there's so much events and things going outside.
05:28Okay.
05:29You get to enjoy it from the outside.
05:30Oh, my God.
05:30There's so much junk going on.
05:32The hotel, everything, you know what I mean?
05:33And stuff, you know?
05:34So, yeah.
05:35Take it over.
05:35Go down and check it out.
05:37You know.
05:38Okay.
05:39And stuff.
