00:04My name is Sharina, if you want to check out my Facebook page, it's just a regular Facebook
00:11because I don't really have a cosplay page, but it's Sharina Forbes, S-H-A.
00:16Well, your Facebook page is now your cosplay play.
00:18Yes, yes, it's been taken over now.
00:21So, your friends were saying, oh, there's some cool photos before, and she was at work,
00:24she was doing some workouts.
00:25Now, a girl just got clothes off and everything.
00:28She's doing all type of cosplay.
00:29So, it's S-H-A-R-E-N-A, Forbes, T-H-O-R-B-S.
00:33If you want to check me out, last year was my first cosplay.
00:36It was Felicia from Darkstalkers.
00:39It's the pink-haired cat, so now it's Starfire.
00:41What inspired you to do that?
00:43What took you from, I have to do my first cosplay that has to be that character?
00:47What actually pushed you for that?
00:49You know what?
00:50I felt like I just saw Starfire, and I always liked her, and I was like, you know what?
00:55I'm going to do it.
00:56Okay.
00:56I was like, I'm going to do it, and I know I can get this done.
00:59I got it built like three months beforehand.
01:02I was like, yes.
01:03And now I'm confident for anything.
01:05Which, it's funny because for the DC Teen Titans series, they did cast a sister.
01:09Yes.
01:09And there was a lot of backlash, you know what I mean, about her playing Starfire.
01:13But Starfire probably is one of the most known and powerful women of color in the DC Universe.
01:18So people don't think about it, but that she actually is though, you know?
01:21Yeah.
01:22When you see that character, what do you think about when you see Starfire?
01:25When I see Starfire, I say she's beautiful, no matter what her color is.
01:29She can be the lightest person in the world, but she will always be a beautiful, strong woman.
01:33It doesn't matter what her color is.
01:35She's the Beyonce of the Star.
01:36Yeah.
01:37That's why she's Starfire.
01:39See, if they had cast Justice League, and they had said, okay, Beyonce, you're playing
01:44Starfire, okay, that's another $100 million right there.
01:47If they had just done that casting right there, and said, hey, Bey, Queen Bee, you're playing
01:53Starfire, that would have blown up the whole universe.
01:56You know what I mean?
01:56People would have said, oh, my goodness.
01:58You know what I mean?
01:58Well, she is from outer space.
02:00Yes.
02:01From another planet.
02:02That's why the whole universe is blown.
02:04So, what motivates you when you come to Anime Expo?
02:07What do you see?
02:08Are you looking to just pose?
02:09Are you looking for other inspirations?
02:11Or what do you do when you come to Anime Expo?
02:13When I come here, I look for both.
02:15I see inspirations all around me.
02:17I see different materials that I could probably use, get advice from others.
02:23You know, anything.
02:25As a community.
02:26Yes, as a community.
02:27Absolutely.
02:27Do people come to you, they tell you, okay, hey, girl, how can I find that?
02:30Or how can I find that bracelet?
02:32Or something like that?
02:32Or do people ask you that type of questions too?
02:35Yeah.
02:35Yeah, they ask me all the time.
02:36Costuming questions, things like that.
02:37Yes.
02:39Do you do all the same day at Anime Expo?
02:42Are you going to keep doing more?
02:43What's the next one you want to do?
02:45The next one that I want to do is probably, it's Comic Con, but it's another kind of Comic Con.
02:51It's in Ontario, California.
02:53That's my next step.
02:55Which one is that?
02:56When is that one going to take place?
02:57It's in Ontario.
02:58Okay.
02:59Yeah, I know in Ontario.
03:00Like, Ontario Mills.
03:01Yes.
03:02Everyone knows Ontario Mills there, girl.
03:04Are you going to play Starfire?
03:05What are you going to do?
03:06The same thing?
03:06You know what?
03:07Next time I want to do Ivy Alpha Soul Calibur 6.
03:10Okay.
03:11Because Soul Calibur 6 is coming out, I want to say October of this year.
03:14Yes.
03:15And I'm ready to do her.
03:17She's going to be a challenge, but I'm ready.
03:20That's the way to do it.
03:21And then where can they catch you on Instagram or anything too?
03:23What do you work there?
03:24No, just my Facebook for now, but I'm sorry.
03:26Facebook exclusive.
03:27They got you.
03:28Yeah, Facebook.
03:29Mark Zuckerberg signed you himself.
03:30He got you.
03:30He got you a Facebook.
03:32Yeah.
03:32So go ahead and look me on Facebook.
03:34Okay.
03:34I'm Sharina.
03:35S-H-A-R-E-E-N-A-T-H-O-R-B-S is my last name.
03:41Okay.
03:41Yeah.
03:42Okay.
03:42Now I'm just going to stop this.
03:44Hi, I'm Sharina Thorpe.
03:45I'm at Anime Expo 2018 and I'm with Rattle Radio, the soul of radio.
03:52There you go.
