00:06has 19 of the 20 points needed to earn his PGA

00:09Tour card via the PGA Tour.

00:13I was looking back at this.

00:14He's made seven PGA Tour cuts.

00:16Now he's had four top tens in those PGA Tour events.

00:19They all earned him a point.

00:20Would it earn more?

00:21He'd already have his card now if they'd

00:24retroactively apply the Luke Clanton rule.

00:26That's another bonus point for top fives to the way he played

00:29in several tournaments.

00:30He's made made the cut of the U.S.

00:32Open last year, and obviously got a point for that start as well.

00:36So Luke needs.

00:39He needs to go five under in his final eight holes on Friday

00:42to make the cut and earn that final point to get his tour card

00:45and just narrowly misses that birdie on 18.

00:48You you walked around with them on Friday.

00:51It's fun. Obviously, you know, I saw some, you know, rebuttals

00:55to your tweets that you feel gutted for the guy.

00:58We're not. Everyone knows Luke Clanton's going to make it a PGA Tour.

01:13Like he's not going to still make it on the PGA Tour.

01:17He feel bad for the guy.

01:18He's playing hard and, you know, almost gets it done. Yeah.

01:21I mean, my perspective was is that I just walk with him the last three hours

01:25and I saw how badly he wanted it and how hard he grinded.

01:28Like, that's that's all I was saying.

01:30And he'll have other opportunities.

01:31I think he got I'm pretty sure he got a sponsor exemption to the Valero.

01:34So I have a shot there.

01:35I think he's a Valspar Valspar.

01:37So, yeah, my V sponsor events.

01:40But I think you got that one for winning the college event last year.

01:44Oh, OK. That would make sense.

01:45So so just I mean, in at some point in time,

01:49he's going to get this thing through in a season award.

01:51It's like it's going to happen this year.

01:53It just the timing is variable.

01:55And then what that means for whether or not he finishes out the season

01:58with Florida State and what sort of discussions he's had there.

02:01So just your thoughts on Luke's week, where he stands now,

02:04what you saw walking around with him, obviously not the start to the week

02:08you wanted, but Danger gets it done coming down the stretch.

02:11Did I think I think he could win it, Valspar?

02:14Like that is a such a good track for him.

02:22it like you talk a lot about like superpowers, different guys,

02:26you know what makes them good?

02:26What are Luke's it does he have a standout superpower

02:30or is it like he does everything really, really good?

02:33No, it's actually it's it shocked me how how wrong I was about this,

02:39because my just overall

02:43impressions of Luke was exactly what you just talked about,

02:46which is like, yeah, it's just, you know, pretty good at everything.

02:48Like, no, no, dude, he hammers it.

02:51He's in top ten in club at speed on the PGA Tour.

02:54I was not aware that hundred twenty two club at speed one.

02:58He's about 183 ball speed.

03:00And I didn't know this.

03:02I was not aware I had not seen him play.

03:05And then I was like, all right, I'm going to go and just kind of dive

03:07a little bit into the Luke clan stat tree.

03:09I was like, holy crap, he hammers it.

03:11And then I was walking.

03:13He was playing with JT the first two days in Phoenix,

03:16and I was walking off the 13th green and Luke was tapping in a JT

03:20and I were at the edge of the green.

03:22And it's always a lot of pressure when JT is just sitting there watching you call.

03:25Like he's literally staring at me like this close and I'm talking to a mic.

03:29He's like, don't screw up, don't screw up, don't screw up.

03:31But we're walking off the green.

03:34I was like, what do you think of Luke?

03:35He's like. His ball makes a different sound.

03:39He's like, he's really good.

03:42So that just for JT to say that, you know, for a guy who's played

03:48with however many players he's played with on the PGA Tour to say, it's like,

03:52dude, his his ball makes a different sound.

03:54That is what you need on the PGA Tour now.

03:58Well, you got to be able to compress the golf ball, hit it hard.

04:01Young guy with tons of confidence.

04:02I love his moxie, love his grit.

04:05He's like when you talk about superpowers, like, yes, he hits it long and hard.

04:10But that next competitive bucket, like he's way up there in that.

04:15Like he's in the Scottie Sheffler, Justin Thomas level.

04:18Of being able to walk in and focus

04:22and appears to me to not be much of a forward thinker.

04:27Like he's a guy that could win a lot in a season

04:30because of his ability to just walk in.

04:33Just his competitive spirit is so awesome to watch.
