00:00I have a serious question about how good or bad the Red Sox are at evaluating players.
00:05I've said many, many times over the years, give me any organization in any sport,
00:11and the most important thing they have to do is to evaluate their own players,
00:16particularly the young ones.
00:18So when they look at prospects in their organization, any team has to say,
00:22okay, who are the best guys?
00:25Who are the real guys that can help us?
00:27And who are the guys that we think we can trade and get something for
00:30because someone else might be duped on their ability.
00:34And so to me, this is, of all the things that are going on with the Red Sox,
00:37this might be the most alarming thing because what if they've waited for all these players
00:43to get to the big leagues and most of them can't play or can't play to the level
00:47that the Red Sox expected?
00:49The team lacks offensive firepower.
00:52Certainly we all believe in Roman Anthony, who's off to a bad start.
00:55So I'm not even including Anthony on the list because I view him as borderline can't miss
01:00and you can't touch.
01:02I don't think there was ever a threat of them trading Roman Anthony.
01:05The real question is, why is this happening?
01:07And I think this all goes back to the Red Sox financial approach here
01:11and the way they now do business.
01:13When you run like a small market team, you value every player
01:18and you try to squeeze every last drop out of that player, no matter what.
01:25So a guy like Hamilton who can already run, you try to add power to his game.
01:30You change his swing.
